Long standing local pub in the heart of bayridge! its got the tin ceiling still! it's one of those locals hang out pub, there's back room accomondates larger party, they also have a dart board, juke box! I feel guilty doing some "day drinking" while everyone else is walking around in their yoga pants and coming to the gym, but on this sweltering day I needed a "break" on my way to lunch. I found a nice cold bottle of bud light for $3.50 the way it was meant to be served....waiting for me, packed in ice. These are locals in here for the most part and very nice. Classic and original old time architecture, from the ceiling to the clock to the stain glass dormer on the men's room. It's like going back in time. This bar is simply awesome! I came here with the intentions of being poured a cold Guinness on tap, but the Three Jolly Pigeons gave me so much more than I anticipated. Not only is the Guinness amazing and cold, but the bartender is just awesome. Oh and its a pokestop! The crowd that hangs there ranges in age. You can converse with the late twenty early thirty year old's or the group of 40-60 year old's, simply awesome. I came here on a Friday night and there was karaoke. If you are a singer this is you're spot. Personally I never thought I could sing in front of one person let alone 20+ but I did. I loved every minute! There isn't any judgements and everyone claps for everyone. People are very friendly and service is quick and efficient. The staff is very sweet. The bar is fully equipped, the space is big and its not packed with teenagers who want to get wasted which is nice. I'm really grateful to have a bar in Bay Ridge with a little class. It's not a fancy place or anything like that, but people speak respectfully and don't get too crazy. $6 standard beers and is usually quiet. Plus, they are enforcing the vaccine mandate. read more

Very unprofessional and rude staff. I personally witnessed how they grab and kick out clients they don't just like. No wonder they have few people. I pass this place every evening and it barely has any people in there. In my opinion, they should've been doing quite the opposite of playing tough guys open only for certain number of clients. Been coming here for like 5 years and always had a good time. However, recently came to watch a hockey game and another person at the bar was pretty drunk and extremely hostile, getting into an unprovoked fight with another person I was with and spitting all over me while talking (not cool in COVID times). Later found out he's apparently one of the owners of the bar. Don't think that kind of behavior is appropriate towards one's patrons and it really soured my overall perception of the establishment. Based on other reviews though it seems we aren't alone in this experience, which is extremely disappointing. Know what kind of behavior your money is supporting before coming here. Best neighborhood (and not-from-the-neighborhood) bar in the area. The interior has an iconic feel of old New York. Lots of oak and stained glass. The staff is wonderful, warm and welcoming and the drinks are not overpriced. If you enjoy sports, there are ample screens and the bartenders will change to your preference if you have one. Watch for special events and celebrations (speaking of which, the holiday decorations are very well done and festive). The quintessential dive bar, and an icon of the neighborhood. Great music selection, lots of community stuff (local musicians, karaoke, trips to Mets games, etc.) and a great crowd. Bay Ridge may seem like a forbidding place sometimes, but at the 3JP, everyone's ready to make a new friend. Bay Ridge at its best - and you're literally standing in history. Soak it in! Prices are awesome - $5 for a pint, no joke. And they respect the '4th' rule, too. Tip well, my friends, their bartenders deserve it. One tip - be sure to request a 'real' pint glass for your beer, otherwise they use these cheap glasses that are short a couple ounces. Be sure to ask before they pour, however. A bit of history: 3JP may be the oldest continuously operated business in the neighborhood, and the building (and the bar) date back from before the subway reached the Ridge. The Bay Ridge Historical Society has photos of the bar from c. 1895, before 3rd ave was paved. read more

I often dub Three Jolly Pigeons as the best bar in Bay Ridge. Why? There is just no place like it. Its relatively big, it doesn't get that crowded, there's a pool table room in the back for $1 games, karaoke certain nights, and DIRT CHEAP drinks. Whats not to love? Sure, the clientele can sometimes be...questionable. You get your usual groups of Bay Ridge youngins, but thrown in the mix are some older 'regulars' that oftentimes sit grumpily at the bar. Its all about what you make of this place. If you come with a group and don't care about mingling, this will be like your entertainment basement with affordable never-ending drinks. There are plenty of tables, a section for darts, a back room for pool, and a large bar with TVs overhead. The bartenders are super down to earth. Talk to the Australian, he has some awesome stories. Prices are just ridiculous. Some of the tap pints go for around $2. Jameson is $5, house whiskey only $4. You get the picture. Be prepared to pay almost nothing, we aren't in Manhattan anymore. Favorite bar in bay ridge. Always a fun, laid back, warm feeling there. The crowd is so chill and wonderfully mixed, mostly younger people. The bartenders are SO COOL and the drinks super cheap. I am being EXTREMELY generous with these 2 stars...I only visited this joint a couple times during the summers. My grandparents live in Bay Ridge, and don't have cable (if I could rate their house, it would get no stars for that), so watching the Yankees games can be a bit of a challenge. 3JP is literally almost right around the corner, so I venture that way when visiting the grandparents and in need of some good baseball. With that background out of the way, I would absolutely discourage anyone from going to 3JP for anything other than to: 1) Watch baseball while too lazy to walk elsewhere 2) Be hit on by a...cougar's mom. I might be being too harsh on this establishment because of my one traumatic experience here, but the place has a grimy/old person feel to it. Young-er people, steer clear. read more

Great low-key pub. Lots of regulars, and the drinks are jaw droppingly cheap. The decor is nice (copper ceilings, stained glass windows, oak bar, original ice boxes from the 1920s). The bartenders are super friendly (at least on Saturdays when I go) and while there's a jukebox, they also play classic rock most of the day. An awesome, Brooklyn pub that showcases a lot of local flavor. It's bar and back room areas are fairly large and there are plenty of places to sit. The music is set at a quiet level, but just loud enough to make out the songs. It's a great place to go to watch a football game as I can attest to. The regulars are a bit on the surly, "America Ain't What It Used Ta Be" side, but they're nice all the same. The selection of beers is through the roof, and they even sport the Brooklyn Brewery's Chocolate Stout on tap. That's pretty brave as far as I'm concerned. They also have Manger's on tap which, if I had stayed for a second round, would've had with a nice pint full of ice. Mmm mmm. The absolute one drawback to the place is that both on the way in and out, I couldn't figure out the front door which I know sounds stupid, but the push pull mechanism was all off. Even some of the regulars were pushing when they should've pulled and vice versa. All in all, it's a great little bar. I'm not down in Bay Ridge that much so I don't know how often I will frequent this place. But if I'm ever in the area again, I will make sure to stop in for a drink. read more

This is the place we go to when we just want to relax and drink on the cheap. It's hard to find a place that doesn't insanely ramp up their prices once night rolls around. Some of the bartenders are definitely better than others but buybacks are pretty common. Sure, you will find quite the mix at this place and some days are crazier than others with the people that are in there. But that's what makes it so great. I have yet to see a guido on-site and very few douches. There is music. There are TVs. And there are a few things to do if you really want to keep yourself occupied. read more
