The theme of the day we ended up here is intentions. We intended to go to the Norwegian parade in BK and did not. We intended to go to another bar, but the vibe was college dive bar. Being in my 30s, I need to be prepared for a day/night like that. We went here because my friend's husband is from Chicago. If I am going to be honest, not sure if I did not get the right food or do not know Chicago all that well, but felt like another bar in my opinion. However, regardless of the busy crowd and us being seating outside in the back due to a baby, our server, Steven (I think that was his name. Sorry if it is not), was great. Very attentive! They have so much t.v in here. Everywhere I look, I see another televison, that's why it's a great spot to watch the game. I really like their beer, but not so much the taternacho or totchos, I don't remember the name exacly. It's basically tater tots with all the ingredients of the nacho appetizer they have (i.e., sour cream, bean, jalapenos, cheese). I thought it was a great idea and would taste great, but the tots they served us was under cooked and it was still cold inside. However, the chicken wings was a different story, it was good. I would order it again when I come back. Windy City Ale House is definitely a great addition in Bay Ridge. I can't really think of another Ale House in Bay Ridge on top of my head, but if I ever want to grab a beer and watch the game, you'll find me here. P.S I am always grateful and appreciate of friendly service and you will find it here. The waitress we got was very attentive and came by our table from time to time to see if we needed anything. Came here on a saturday evening. I've heard a lot of hype about their wings so I wanted to try them out. I ordered 10 bbq and 10 hot wings. The hot wings tasted better than the bbq. But the wings were mediocre. Nothing spectacular. I was actually more excited to order the Ommegang Game if Thrones beer "Valar Morghulis". That, pretty much made my night. I also had the chicken totchos. Those were good. They were tater tots topped with chicken and stuff put in nachos. Hence, the name. Again, nothing spectacular. Windy City Ale is a cool place to chill and enjoy some drinks and appetizers. They have the doors that flip out wide open so you cant help but see right inside. Its very welcoming. The food here is actually pretty good to my surprise. We had chicken wings, chicken totchoes, and the cheesesteak sliders with fries. The cheese steak wasnt too bad. The chicken totchoes are amazeee!!!! This is a dish of tatar tots topped with cheese salsa and all that good stuff that you'd find on loaded nachos. Windy City Ale House has been a refreshing addition to the Bay Ridge bar/restaurant scene. As much as I love pizza & Italian food, it's a bummer to see another red sauce joint open when a space frees up. Windy City's beer selection alone is something no other bar in the neighborhood can match up to. 24 beers on draft with a rotating selection, and bottles upon bottles of beer. The food menu is focused on a variety of Chicago staples (Chicago style dogs) and typical bar offerings (wings, sliders). Their Chicago style dog is the best I've had (better than Shake Shack's, IMO). They have 20 cent wing specials on Sundays, 10 cent wings on Mondays. Hockey nights on Thursdays & Saturday where if you wear a hockey jersey you get $2 off beers. Check their Twitter feed or Facebook page for other daily specials. More importantly, the owners (brothers, Steve & Dan) are great guys who seem to really care about their patrons. It might sound cheesy, but I think everyone wants to have a local bar where you go in & they remember your name. That actually happened when I came back a couple weeks after my initial visit on St. Patrick's Day. To me, that means something. It also didn't hurt that when my favorite soccer team (NY Red Bulls) were playing & I didn't get NBCSN at home, they put the game on for me with the sound on one of their 14 TVs. A Chicago team bar in bay ridge. I'm a big hockey fan and live in bay ridge. I go out a lot in Manhattan and look for spots close to home when I'm not looking to travel far. So when the stars aligned and my girlfriend was getting her hair done after work and I was at home when the rangers were playing, I finally went to Windy City.. Bay ridge's only hockey bar. It was a Thursday night in January at 7pm. I love beer and heard they had the best selection. I wasn't disappointed by the variety of beers. Respect their love for native Chicago brews (Windy City) as well as Ommegang because I went to school right by their brewery. Bar wasn't too packed as it was a weeknight, not too loud. Plenty of TVs with a 60"+ across the bar. Prices are fair both for the food and drinks. ***Especially liked the $2 off drafts just because I was wearing a hockey jersey*** It wasn't that loud when I went and from what I could tell the jukebox is the new one where you could get any song you want to play on it. There's a dart board, clean bathrooms and just a good vibe. From what I can take away from Windy City is that it's a great place to watch hockey in Brooklyn. A local type bar where the more you go the more fun you have. Food is tasty, beer is good and service good, although laxed at times. (Like I said I went by myself, and a total of 5 words were spoken to me.) Don't take that for rude at all, it was just that no one was that engaging. If you're in bay ridge it's a great place to go. There were probably 15 people in the bar at this time, so I was able to have some downtime with my husband and have a conversation without talk-screaming at each other. LOL. The food is not too off the hook, its your basic pub fare but its hearty damn good and served with a smile. We ordered 40 wings for the table, 4 different flavors and all were great. They have a unique spin on wings in one case by offering "Italian Wings". We each got a different main course and all were satisfied. The salads were delish as were the sliders but with out a doubt the star of the night (next to the Hawks) were those nasty durty durty tater-tots.....whoa mama those lil sumbitches were AMAZING. Each of us were stunned at how goldeny crispy and yummy they were. Whoda thought tater-tots would ever get this kind of mention on yelp? Finally---I finally went to Windy City after walking past it regularly since it opened, lamenting that I hadn't been there yet. It was a crappy night and I figured that meant I'd get a table so all the more reason to go. Drinks? Reasonably priced. Ability to get buckets is a plus, since most places don't offer them and when they do it's with stipulations. Good selection, large menu. Food? Who cares if there's small menu? It's called Windy City Ale House, not WCAH & Restaurant. (That's in response to a review left here.) Regardless, the food is good. Sliders were delicious, fries were tasty and the waitress asked us if we needed more ketchup when she walked by and saw we were running low. Service was good. Prompt, came by regularly and she wasn't overbearing. TVs can be overwhelming but when it's packed, at least you'll be able to see the game. Extra star for having a nice, clean bathroom. My only complaint would be it gets cold from the door opening and closing so often---no double doors, so if you're anywhere near the front half of the bar, you'll feel it. read more

Bayridge has needed a place like this for a while, first time I went I walked in and immediately felt like I was at home! The service was so great and personable, awesome beer selection that rotates weekly and great drink and food specials all week! The owners are so welcoming and go out of their way to make people have a great experience. Food is soooo good!! Fresh and I did not feel overly stuffed and could tell how fresh everything was! Whoever is in the kitchen seriously knows what they are doing, I have never been to Chicago but trying the food there sure gave me a good taste! This place should very well be the next new hang out spot in Bayridge!! Also love all the t.v's, there are so many!! Any game will be great to watch there. So I've purchased from Windy City three times. Two visits and one delivery order. It's a bar.. not much to rate but I will say the wings are pretty good, the bar tenders are great conversationalist I can't recall if it was the same guy both my visits.. they have plenty TVs, the bathrooms are clean, just don't go there after st. Patrick's day they don't have much of an alcohol selection left. Other than that it's a good bar to either start or end your night at. read more

I came here with my husband on a Friday for Hockey Night - wear a jersey and get $2 off draft beers and half priced appetizers. When we arrived we also found out it was happy hour until 8pm - a major plus for us brave souls working away in Manhattan and returning to Bay Ridge in the evening to go out. So first and foremost they have some great drinking deals here. Not only that, the beer selection is hands down the best in the neighborhood - craft beers on draft and in bottles....Youngs Chocolate Stout on draft (ammmmen), a few different varieties of Goose Island because the bar food and beer selection is Chicago themed. That being said, they are friendly to all sports fanatics and friends, no matter what team you and/or yours are supporting. We tried some food as well, and even though the entire menu is not yet released I can say from what we had that it was delicious and hit the spot. The food isn't greasy or over-portioned or over-priced, and was very fresh. We had Totchos, which are like nachos only with Tater Tots, and Chicago Style Hot dogs, both easily recommended. The staff is open for a friendly chat and extremely transparent about their beer and food selections and what they are all about. Definitely a great new addition to the neighborhood. This is the ONLY bar we come to in Bay Ridge to watch sports. The owners are great, staff is friendly and the beer selection is excellent. Food is ok, but getting better since they changed the menu. BF is OBSESSED with the tacos, and I love the chicken sammies. My only complaint is that it's cold in the winter, since the front doors are slightly busted, so sit at the bar if you get cold easily. read more

This place is the best. Here's why: 1. The food - just seems like a typical menu, but everything is beyond delicious. I always get the tater tot nachos and they are so great. Had a great time at Windy City Ale House last night, watching the Blackhawks game! This little bar screams Chicago in the best way. It's decked from floor to ceiling with televisions and Chicago sports decor. Missing your Hawks? You'll feel at home here. I loved that the owner hung out watching the game, cheering along with us. It's clear they love Chicago! Onto the food and drinks. The tiny food menu offers just enough variety that I think just about anyone can find something to enjoy while watching a game. My friend chatted up the tachos all week - tater tot nachos - and they did not disappoint. Pretty much better than tortilla nachos in every way. The buffalo wings were great too. We may or may not have eaten way too many... The beer list is impressive. As a non-beer drinker, I was very happy to see cider options. My friend loved being able to get 312 on tap. All in all, we were thoroughly satisfied, except for the pesky little fact that the Hawks lost, but that's not the bar's fault! I'll definitely be back! read more

My friends and I stopped for a quick drink at my neighborhood's new watering hole on St. Patrick's Day. They have, hands down, the best beer selection in Bay Ridge. A fantastic selection of Goose Island and Two Brothers beers alongside a good selection of Chicago pub food. It's also, with its many televisions, a good spot to watch sports. My fiance and I came down to Windy to watch the Devils play their first playoff game since 2012. The bartender Steve was very attentive and made us feel like home. Horrible! It was the night of the super bowl. My boyfriend and I went just to check out the stop and watch the game. We sat down for about 25 mins until the rude hispanic server took our order. Once are food came it was horrible. Everything was over cooked and gross. The waiter was just talking to his friends all night and never checked on us. When we were leaving we had to go find him to get the check and ask for a to go bag. He gave us such a bad attitude for asking for the two items. Would not recommend. Excellent customer service and a super cool place! This bar is very local to me so I had to wander in. It's mostly a sports bar and even though I didn't come in for the sports, I never felt out of place. Super chill and very good vibes here. The most attentive staff ever, you will have a drink in your hand seconds after walking through the door. The outdoor area in the back closes at 10 and the staff is very professional giving us a 20 minutes heads up about it. The thing that impressed us the most is the FOOD! This is currently my favorite burger place, and I go to a lot. I don't know how they get it so good, they must finish it up with a blowtorch or have some crazy secret.
