I used to love this place, but the pricing has gotten ridiculous. They now charge 18% service fee - not tip - on top of over-the-counter orders, without you even sitting down. You can't say something costs $10 and then charge $12. When you sit down, they charge you the 18% service fee and then ASK FOR TIP. It's a nice space with good food, but this pricing is dishonest and wrong, and I can't come back to a place that does this. Tete A Tete, if you're reading this, the service fee for this review is $5. I've been frequenting this establishment ever since it opened, years and years back. The one solid consistency is the good service. The staff are friendly and accommodating. That is where the two stars of this review go. Everything else needs work. The prices have skyrocketed. In June 2021, filet mignon cost $25 and in October 2021, that same dish costs $32. That's a pretty hefty spike for four months! The portion of side dishes and salad has gotten smaller. As did all other dish portions. Prices are rising, portions are shrinking. What a sad reality we live in. Dessert portions are MINUSCULE. If a piece of dessert costs $7 at the dessert counter downstairs, you will pay $8.50 for that same slice if you're dinning upstairs. Paying $8.50 for a TINY piece of cake that is bland and underwhelming is beyond disappointing. Gratuity is automatically added to every bill, regardless of party size. I'm all for generous tipping. But for voluntary tipping, not being forced a specific amount, which may not reflect the quality of my experience here. In addition, if you're paying with card, you will be charged an additional 4% of your bill! That's a new development that has been popping up all over Brooklyn. What bogus way to discourage the usage of cards. Tax upon tax upon tip upon tax. A meal here will cost you a pretty penny. read more

One thing that alarmed me was the taste of the meat. At first I thought it was the seasoning, but three hours later I realized I had food poisoning! Could you please talk to the employees about the proper way to make an iced latte? It shouldn't be pre-made. Another issue is their customer service. I receive a disapproving "look" whenever I ask for a fresh iced latte, which is not how it should be. If management reads this review, please address this with your employees. I came to Tete a Tete with a group of 5 and we were seated immediately. You can make reservations as they asked if we had one but we didn't have one. Honestly we enjoyed everything: the hookah, the food, the drinks. We all have experience with hookah and can recognize when it's made good versus when it isn't good at all (this is why we started having hookah at home) but Tete a Tete shocked us all. The hookah lasted for a while and it was good throughout. We had watermelon mint and Iced Peach flavors. The iced peach was amazing!! As for the drinks, I can definitely say their Moscow mules are on point. Food also tasted well and fresh overall. This was a fabulous fine in Sheepshead Bay as I was doing some work in that part of the woods. I truly needed my pick me up some java was in order. Well anyway I spotted this establishment Tete A Teta it looked very sweet so I was down to have my coffee which was strong and bold perfect. I believe it's new owners this place is is terrible now. The manager Kostya ( who was very rude) told us its a different owner now. First this is a hookahs bar not a lounge with good food and good music like it used to be. I was so shocked how much smoke there was and the smell was so bad we didn't even finish our food and left. All the windows closed. On their website, it doesn't say they have hookah all night long. I only found something very small fine print (New American fare, cocktails & hookahs) that's all they say. But when we made reservations at least tell us that it's a hookahs bar. We travel from NJ &LI to face very disappointed. This is unbelievably and very unprofessional. Great spot to stop by for a breakfast / brunch meal in the area. The food was fresh and everything tasted great. I also thought their presentation of the food was great - it was simple with a twist. We got coffee which was very good! For food: - Sirniki - they were so good! served over yogurt and berries with jam on the side. It was the perfect breakfast dessert! - goat cheese almond salad - the goat cheese was baked perfectly in the almonds and the salad was full of flavor. Would recommend! - Omelet - the omelet was good but nothing special. I think we could have done without it. The service was good and everyone was very pleasant, but it was a little bit slow. Fist of all it's a great place and I did really like it. Only the problem is with service. Once I did reservation for 8:30pm and I came exactly 8:room Unfortunately I had to wait if by the bar for 40 minutes because they did not have a table. Another problem is was with service you can't find a waiter if you looking for her or him. Also one of surprising things was they automatically charging a tips which is almost 18% I did not know it. I do always give a tip on top of the bill all the time. I did realize it was already charged a tip which is 18% And on top of I put another 35$ of tips I'm total was more than 60& So basically I gave them close 50% Unfortunately it's bad that they don't tell and you trust them when you go there. I did really like the food and amazing drinks and great place. Your food is amazing and i is really love it. We have been to this cafe few times, and the coffee is just horrible, too much milk, no flavor. Other cafe in the neighborhood specialize in coffee making, so we always go only there, not Tet a tet. There is a lot of boasting about this place on various platforms and about the owners. Honestly, this place has descent food, but nothing special at all, to come back to. The service is typical Russian, rude, with delay. We came few times, and the girls at the front first behave as if they are too busy, making coffee, but lack to say to a customer, I will be right with you at least. After 7- 10 minutes of waiting on the average, they will ask you what you need. The baked sweet goods were stale few times when we went there, and subpar. It is a Sheepsheadbay cafe, and yes people come there, but honestly this is the reason why we never go because the baked goods are not fresh. This place is just in the neighborhood, but the coffee is bad. They do not know what cortado is, nor how to make a cappuchino that tastes like cappuccino. Dine-in service is always prompt and the servers are friendly and efficient. Minus one star for 2 reasons: 1. Take-out can be a little tricky, where the wait times can vary greatly (they are always kind and apologetic, but one time they full-on forgot to put in my order- while I was standing right there!). I suggest calling ahead and placing your order for pickup. And 2. They sort of FORCE a tip in no subtle way (i.e. tacking on 18% for dine-in; kiosk has pre-set amounts that start at 15% and you can't tell what the amounts are).
