So disappointing that this place went downhill, used to love it. - drinks were just full of syrup, no flavor. Don't recommend Kalinka Malinka. - food was gross. The ingredients were definitely not fresh and didn't taste good. - service was almost non-existent. Rude demeanor. The server was on his phone most of the time and it was hard to flag him when something was needed. And they have the audacity to add a mandatory "service charge" of 18 percent for anything over $20. That's so arbitrary. - the music was good, but after about 11pm/midnight it turns into a nightclub and gets very loud. Impossible to carry a conversation. - non-stop hooka smoking, including by whoever was in the back of the bar (bartender or server). Gross. read more

Cool little coffee spot that has great desserts, teas, good food and drinks as well. I love the chill atmosphere here, especially upstairs. read more

I used to love this place, but the pricing has gotten ridiculous. They now charge 18% service fee - not tip - on top of over-the-counter orders, without you even sitting down. You can't say something costs $10 and then charge $12. When you sit down, they charge you the 18% service fee and then ASK FOR TIP. It's a nice space with good food, but this pricing is dishonest and wrong, and I can't come back to a place that does this. Tete A Tete, if you're reading this, the service fee for this review is $5. I just made that up, like you. read more

Not too long ago my wife and I came to Tete A Tete for coffee and a small snack. I had been eyeing this place for some time, as it seemed quite inviting. Upon entering it truly was inviting with a very nice, quaint ambiance. The coffee was delicious, as were the sweet treats we each selected; which by the way, wasn't easy to choose as they had so many delicious looking choices! The server was polite, and accommodating. We'll definitely be back to try their upstairs section (looks like a nice restaurant). read more

We came here on Friday night. The place was almost empty, with more staff than customers. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, with nice music and a beautiful setting. The food was decent, but definitely overpriced. They added an automatic 18% gratuity and still asked for additional tips - bold choice for the level of service. Our waiter looked irritated from the second we sat down, acted like we personally ruined his evening. He brought the appetizer and main course at the same time, so we got to enjoy our entrée cold. For $250+ for two people, you'd think we'd get at least a smile. Apparently not. read more

I've been frequenting this establishment ever since it opened, years and years back. The one solid consistency is the good service. The staff are friendly and accommodating. That is where the two stars of this review go. Everything else needs work. The prices have skyrocketed. In June 2021, filet mignon cost $25 and in October 2021, that same dish costs $32. That's a pretty hefty spike for four months! The portion of side dishes and salad has gotten smaller. As did all other dish portions. Prices are rising, portions are shrinking. What a sad reality we live in. Dessert portions are MINUSCULE. If a piece of dessert costs $7 at the dessert counter downstairs, you will pay $8.50 for that same slice if you're dinning upstairs. Paying $8.50 for a TINY piece of cake that is bland and underwhelming is beyond disappointing. Gratuity is automatically added to every bill, regardless of party size. I'm all for generous tipping. But for voluntary tipping, not being forced a specific amount, which may not reflect the quality of my experience here. In addition, if you're paying with card, you will be charged an additional 4% of your bill! That's a new development that has been popping up all over Brooklyn. What bogus way to discourage the usage of cards. Tax upon tax upon tip upon tax. A meal here will cost you a pretty penny. read more

Be careful here-keep an eye on the actual price of the item and then how much you'll be charged. DIFFERENT CASHIERS CHARGE DIFFERENT PRICES. Clearly, some cashiers factor in 'tips' for themselves in the price. Other cashiers are honest. It happened several times already na dit feels so low and chip. Really disgusting. If someone needs an extra $1 they can keep it but I/m not going back to the place and telling my friends about this low cheating with charges. NOTE-read other reviews now and I'm not the first one who noticed CHEATING WITH CHARGES!! One more negative note. Tea there is advertised to be freshly brewed. Even iced tea-supposedly they brew it, then cool it down a little and then add ice. When I had it done other times the barista/cashier told me that it will take several minutes to properly prepare fresh tea. I agreed and waited and tea was very nice. Today the barista gave me the tea in 2 min. It looked very very light yellow-ish, almost water. When I tasted it and then smelled it, was absolute water. I was charge $4.08 FOR A CUP OF WATER WITH ICE. Also the bathroom is disgustingly dirty and smelly. It looks like it also serves themas some storage space. Nasty horrible smell like in a the worst gas station toilet. Can't they hire someone to clean and disinfect the bathroom once a day?? It's seriously anti sanitary there and plainly disgusting. The last point is not so relevant considering the first two but adds and fits with the entire place. Save yourself from this place-you don't need extra stress, dissapointemn and nasty toilet odor. read more

This place is absurdly overpriced. I think they charged me 10 dollars or something along those lines for some orange juice in a cup (that was mostly filled with ice). I will occasionally come here to do some work on my laptop, it's nice-ish for those purposes, but the downstairs space is pretty small so there's not much room to get things done. The coffee and pastries are fine, but follow the same absurd pricing pattern. Never been to the upstairs/hookah area, so can't say anything about that. read more

If I could put a minus instead of an asterisk, I would. After reading the positive reviews, I go to this cafe. The dishes we ordered looked appetizing. One thing that alarmed me was the taste of the meat. At first I thought it was the seasoning, but three hours later I realized I had food poisoning! I will not come here again and do not recommend this cafe. Even if I didn't get poisoned, I still don't recommend this cafe. Their toilet is dirty and has an unbearable smell. The furniture is shabby and there are traces of burning, so there is a hookah smoking there and it is full of smoke! read more

Is a very nice place to catch up with friends . Russian music plays in the back ground but is not obstructive . The service is very good . If you like hooka ( not sure of the spelling) this is a good place to come. It has 2 floors and is very comfortable despite giving the appearance of being small. I had the omelette with salmon and it was good . Very good portion with potatoes and salad. The French toast was a little flat. I prefer fluffy. Tete A Tete - a table and chairs in a restaurant - Cafes Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I came to Tete a Tete with a group of 5 and we were seated immediately. You can make reservations as they asked if we had one but we didn't have one. Honestly we enjoyed everything: the hookah, the food, the drinks. We all have experience with hookah and can recognize when it's made good versus when it isn't good at all (this is why we started having hookah at home) but Tete a Tete shocked us all. The hookah lasted for a while and it was good throughout. We had watermelon mint and Iced Peach flavors. The iced peach was amazing!! As for the drinks, I can definitely say their Moscow mules are on point. Food also tasted well and fresh overall. The only complaint I have on the food is that the Buffalo wings could have been cooked a bit more but everything else was perfect. Needless to say, I'll be back read more

I love their coffee. It's so delicious. But every time, and I mean every single time, when I place an order, I have to keep a close eye on how the coffee is made. The iced latte is always pre-made, which ruins the taste. I've tried it twice and requested that they make it fresh, but it seems like they don't understand. Could you please talk to the employees about the proper way to make an iced latte? It shouldn't be pre-made. Another issue is their customer service. I receive a disapproving "look" whenever I ask for a fresh iced latte, which is not how it should be. If management reads this review, please address this with your employees. As paying customers, we expect to receive our coffee without receiving an attitude. Even though I love their coffee, I've made the decision not to go there anymore. read more

Average service, nice ambiance but very poor quality, cheap ingredient food, very very disappointed. Do not spend money for 3/5 quality food. They need to improve the quality of ingredients. I went there to enjoy food, not to save money, price of the menu is average, but such a poor quality. Crossing this place out from my list. read more

A lovely intimate cafe in the heart of Sheepshead Bay! The tastefully decorated Tete A Tete has a wide arrange of tea, coffee, and a full bar along with many great food options on the menu. We enjoyed the Prosciutto, Roasted Tomato & Cream Cheese Bruschetta and Filet Mignon. Our loose teas in their amusing bottom dispensing tea pots were both delicious. On other occasions I love to get an awesome latte from Tete A Tete. Definitely recommend you pay them a visit. read more

I believe it's new owners this place is is terrible now. The manager Kostya ( who was very rude) told us its a different owner now. First this is a hookahs bar not a lounge with good food and good music like it used to be. I was so shocked how much smoke there was and the smell was so bad we didn't even finish our food and left. All the windows closed. On their website, it doesn't say they have hookah all night long. I only found something very small fine print (New American fare, cocktails & hookahs) that's all they say. But when we made reservations at least tell us that it's a hookahs bar. We travel from NJ &LI to face very disappointed. This is unbelievably and very unprofessional. Please tell people it a hookah bar and please stop misleading your community. read more

Great spot to stop by for a breakfast / brunch meal in the area. The food was fresh and everything tasted great. I also thought their presentation of the food was great - it was simple with a twist. We got coffee which was very good! For food: - Sirniki - they were so good! served over yogurt and berries with jam on the side. It was the perfect breakfast dessert! - goat cheese almond salad - the goat cheese was baked perfectly in the almonds and the salad was full of flavor. Would recommend! - Omelet - the omelet was good but nothing special. I think we could have done without it. The service was good and everyone was very pleasant, but it was a little bit slow. I haven't been to this cafe in years but I think I will be coming back soon for a delicious breakfast meal! read more

I like this place. It does feel a little dumpy, but it seems like a good choice for casual lounging. They have baked goods, coffee, alcohol, food and hookah. Thats some good lounging right there. Fist of all it's a great place and I did really like it. Only the problem is with service. Once I did reservation for 8:30pm and I came exactly 8:room Unfortunately I had to wait if by the bar for 40 minutes because they did not have a table. Another problem is was with service you can't find a waiter if you looking for her or him. Also one of surprising things was they automatically charging a tips which is almost 18% I did not know it. I do always give a tip on top of the bill all the time. I did realize it was already charged a tip which is 18% And on top of I put another 35$ of tips I'm total was more than 60& So basically I gave them close 50% Unfortunately it's bad that they don't tell and you trust them when you go there. I did really like the food and amazing drinks and great place. Your food is amazing and i is really love it. Can you please fix your customer service and honesty because you have a great place with drink and food which makes customers to come back, however especially I do not want to come back because I don't feel like being reared In a nice and honesty way. We have been to this cafe few times, and the coffee is just horrible, too much milk, no flavor. Other cafe in the neighborhood specialize in coffee making, so we always go only there, not Tet a tet. There is a lot of boasting about this place on various platforms and about the owners. Honestly, this place has descent food, but nothing special at all, to come back to. The service is typical Russian, rude, with delay. We came few times, and the girls at the front first behave as if they are too busy, making coffee, but lack to say to a customer, I will be right with you at least. After 7- 10 minutes of waiting on the average, they will ask you what you need. The baked sweet goods were stale few times when we went there, and subpar. It is a Sheepsheadbay cafe, and yes people come there, but honestly this is the reason why we never go because the baked goods are not fresh. This place is just in the neighborhood, but the coffee is bad. They do not know what cortado is, nor how to make a cappuchino that tastes like cappuccino. This is why I gave it 1 star for poor service and bad coffee. read more
