    Miso salmon bowl

Omai rice bar may be famous for their viral sushi push pops, but those looked so messy and ridiculous to eat. So we opted for the bowls and they were great, with fresh, quality ingredients. The salmon was just ok but the beef brisket was excellent - it just melts in your mouth. I wish they would bring back some of Omai's old favourite dishes like the squid ink toast!

As a fan of their old sister restaurant, Omai (RIP), after several visits, I am now a fan of Omai Rice Bar too. Thanks to a co-worker for first alerting me of their opening late last year, I have since tried and found my favourite menu items. Prices are a bit higher but for their quality, I think it matches! This small but mighty eatery does not offer much seating: counter tables with high stools, and outdoor patio during warmer seasons. So most diners just grab and go. They are a small operation, but their food is solid. Expect long queues during lunch rush! But they are well worth the wait. They are currently busy with their viral push-pop sushi rolls! I highly recommend the Miso Glazed Salmon version. It's very unique to them and is a flavour bomb. I actually enjoyed it more than the Blue Fin Tuna sushi. As for the bowls, don't sleep on them! They are my go-to order. Generous portions with DELICIOUS pickled veggies. They are a well-balanced bowls, with the most tasty protein options. There's something for everyone here. My favourite bowls: 1. Korean BBQ Beef Bowl (I ask for leaner cut): Hickory smoked "low and slow", bulgogi sauce, pickled cucumber, pickled diakon and Korean coleslaw. The brisket was the star but it has a bountiful pairing of the yummiest veggies. 2. Miso Glazed Salmon Bowl: The salmon is moist, and cooked beautifully. The miso glaze is sweet but not sickly so. It's one of the best miso glazes I've ever had. And again, like the beef bowl, they bowl also comes with a generous plating of kimchi and other pickled veggies. 3.Blue Fin Tuna Bowl: I much prefer the Blue Fina Tuna in this poke bowl format over the sushi. It comes with avocado, edamame and half of a jammy egg. It's such a clean and refreshing bowl!

Their sushi push pops went viral! So there might be a bit of a wait or line to order as they make those sushi pops to order. TIP: i came on a weekday at 5pm and there was no line. Love the packing -- minimal but has everything you need. No chopsticks required, soy sauce tube. What a fun way to eat sushi. And very convenient for on-the-go!

I loved Omai the restaurant, this rice bar is by the same owners, but this is the more affordable/ take out version I suppose? They made the sushi push-pops fresh, but it didn't take too long, the two chefs were friendly too; the store is clean and pleasant, there are some seats inside but limited (imagine the size of a bubble tea shop) they got more patio seats outside though.

A cozy, creative sushi spot on Baldwin with a focus on presentation and flavour. The sushi push pops are a fun, nostalgic twist, and the housemade sauces and pickles elevate the dishes. While the quality is solid, the pricing can feel a bit high for the portion size. Worth visiting for the unique experience.

Omai Rice Bar located in Baldwin Village along Baldwin St. near McCaul serves up a variety of rice bowls. Apparently this place is from the same owners as Omai restaurant down the street. Omai Rice Bar is accessible but is primarily take out only (they do have a standing ledge/bar you can eat on or they have some benches outside! I stopped by Omai Rice Bar on a Sunday afternoon to pick up 2 bowls for my partner and I for dinner. The menu consists of six different types of rice bowls ranging from fried chicken, pork belly, Korean BBQ beef, miso glazed salmon, and salmon or tuna poke. All bowls come with rice, protein, and other toppings like their kimchi slaw or pickled daikon. They also have drinks and a variety of Korean snacks for sale as well. Upon arrival I was first confused about where to order as they have two cashiers (one at the front of the store and one at the back). After ordering, staff indicated that I could also choose two drinks from the fridge. My bowls took about 5 min to make where staff were nice enough to put it in a bag. They included forks or chopsticks as well. The two bowls we had were: - Atlantic salmon poke (Atlantic salmon, avocado, ikura, pickled ginger, half a marinated egg, and scallion on seasoned rice) - $20.98 - Oh-My-Fried chicken (Korean fried chicken, garlic yuzu glaze, wasabi cucumber, kimchi slaw, and pickled daikon) - $15.95 The Atlantic salmon poke was fresh and came on a bed of half seasoned rice and salad. The simple toppings worked well together with the salmon, which tasted fresh. The additional ikura on top of the salmon made the bowl even better. I had a few pieces of the Korean fried chicken from the other bowl and it was decent. The batter of the chicken was a bit thick but the flavour was nice. The toppings like the kimchi slaw and daikon were refreshing. Both bowls were filling! Overall, a good place to grab some rice bowls if you're in the area!
