Either way, it was flavorful with a good amount of spice and I'd safely say it was better than other kimbaps I've tried before! Sinjeon Cheese Kimbop $11.99 Next up, if you're looking for a dish with even more heat, is their CREAMY CARBONARA TTEOKBOKKI. This is the best sauce ever! It was so flavorful with a hint of smokey bacon, creamy but not overly heavy, and had such a good kick to it. The rice cakes were chewy, the little sausages were fun to each, and I love the crunchy little toppings which further elevated the entire dish. We were just about dipping everything in here. Creamy Carbonara Tteokbokki $12.99 We also ordered their SEAWEED ROLLS which were so hot upon being served and crunchy like you'd want them - I just felt they were pricey at $3.99 for three mini rolls. This is a very casual dining spot. You walk in to seat yourself, but we were immediately brought over bowls, chopsticks, and napkins by an employee. If you want water though, that is self-serve near their cashier area. After reviewing their menu for a couple minutes via a QR code presented on the table, one of their employees comes to place your order. Due to the casual nature, the employees serve the food to your table but do not do any routine check ups on you. Payment is also done with you walking up to the counter and oh, 5% discount if you pay cash! This is one of those restaurants with very tricky parking, given it is in the Yonge and Steeles area. There were a couple spots behind the restaurant near the waste bins with a sign that says "Sinjeon customers only" but I was skeptical because of its placement. In the end, it worked out fine for me. Thank goodness for no tows or this would have been a much different lunch experience!

The prices are pretty cheap, my carbonara cream toppoki was around $14 and my boyfriend's original was $10. I asked for no spice at all and they were able to do it for the cream carbonara! The other location at College added a little bit and I ended up finding it spicy, so I was happy that they didn't add any this time. It was pretty good, the sauce is tasty and the rice cakes are good. However, I only got two sausages and two mushroom slices in the entire thing, which I thought was kind of sad. My boyfriend said his was good, and it doesn't come with any other toppings other than sauce and rice cake. Overall they were both tasty, but I wish there were more sausage and mushrooms in mine.

Similar menu and the kimchi is one of the stars of the show. Slightly unripe, but loaded with garlic, we couldn't get enough of it. The kalguksu had a mild, but peppery broth; and all members of my family thought it was the best they'd ever had. We also ordered the bossam (pork belly) and steamed mandoo. Eating here was the highlight of our trip. We even considered going back the next day!

Diners tuck these soft meat slices into lettuce, Napa cabbage, and turnip with a smear of the savoury bean sauce for a protein packed bite. Our table was split about the haemui pa jeon ($28.99). The size of a medium pizza, it's made for a group. Personally, I found it way too thick and didn't contain enough ingredients to balance out the doughiness of the Korean style pancake. Conversely, my relatives preferred the heft as it contrasted the crispy exterior and soft interior. I guess it depends if you're a thin versus pan crust type of pizza lover. I'm firmly in the Neapolitan camp. I thoroughly enjoyed the crust that develops on the bottom of yachae dolsot bibimbap ($18.99). And the hot stone rice bowl contained a good combination of ingredients to ensure there was plenty of vegetables and beef to go around. De Chou's LA kalbi ($34.99) was rather neutral with very little sauce, so you mostly taste the beef. The sign said it opens at 11:30 a.m., and true to their word, the doors opened exactly on time. The restaurant itself is quite large and impressively clean -- that was my first good impression. We originally went in because of the sign outside advertising Korean ginseng chicken soup, but when we asked the server, he told us it's no longer on the menu. A bit disappointing, especially since my wife wasn't feeling well and I thought that soup would've been perfect for her. We ordered two Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimbaps ($21.99 each). The portion was decent, but the flavor was a bit bland and not salty enough for our taste -- overall I'd give it a 6/10. We also tried the Japchae ($13.99). Unfortunately, it was too greasy, a bit slimy, and overcooked -- about a 4/10 for me. They served five small side dishes, which were just average (5/10), and a small cup of noodle soup that was lukewarm and slightly sweet -- not to my liking, as I prefer savory over sweet in Korean food. The total came to $65.51 before tip, and we left a standard 15%. To be fair, by the time we finished lunch, there were quite a few tables filled, so maybe other dishes are better. Now the food -- we ordered the Original flavor (Medium spice) and it was SO GOOD. I've had my fair share of tteokbokki, but this one was different. There wasn't any other filling besides rice cakes which was unique but the sauce was soupy and addictive. I just wanted to drink it all up. It was simple and delicious. The rice cakes were so chewy and bouncy. Apparently they import their ingredients straight from Korea. If you're in the area, check them out!
