Service was good and food was delicious…read more We got fried rice and bulgogi, overall it was yummy! We got here at 5pm on a Sunday. It was only a couple of tables that had customers. Shortly after, the whole place got so packed! So I guess that's something to watch out for in terms of timing. I specifically preferred this place because of the location and good parking spot. Overall, I'd go back here again.

Spicy Stir-Fried Squid and Pork Belly…read more I could hear the wok going absolutely crazy in the kitchen, so my expectations were high before the dish even arrived. It came out sizzling on the hot plate, with the oil still crackling. The pork belly was thick-cut but perfectly sized for one bite. The real surprise, though, was the squid. It had that firm, springy chew you get from grilled squid, but the flesh was also surprisingly thick and substantial. It felt like an indestructible little fighter that just wouldn't give up. Every bite turned into a tiny tug-of-war between my teeth and the squid, and I genuinely loved the texture. The shredded onion, zucchini, and carrot each added a different texture, with the zucchini especially helping cut through the richness. Almost every chopstickful had some meat plus two or three strips of vegetables. The ratio was pretty much perfect. It is on the expensive side, though. I checked Jindallae afterward and a similar dish there is around $22, making this one roughly 30% more expensive. A little disappointed that I didn't get the eggplant banchan I'd heard so much about. The side dishes I did get were simple and very home-style in their seasoning.

The flavour is still great but my meat was very tough. They didn't fall off the bone at all and it was hard to eat the meat around the bone. I was quite disappointed as I was very looking forward to this meal. I had the individual serving of the gamjatang but my friends got the pot. I would say the pot ended up being a better experience as the pot kept on boiling and eventually softening the meat. The service was great though, they were friendly. Also don't forget to bring cash if you can!

We loved the seafood pancake. Usually the pancake is like mushy and soft. But here they made it really crispy. It was our favourite. The bulgogi wasn't bad either. Service came pretty much. It has a decent amount of banchan. The place itself has a good amount of seating. Even an outdoor patio.

Definitely not my first time here as I've come with family or friends over the past 15+ years, every time, leaving very satisfied. Made sure to arrive for opening time to get a table right away since based on past experience, the wait can take some time, especially for dinner or on the weekends. Of course, had to order my two favourite menu items: 물냉면 - Mool naengmyun (Cold Noodles) and 김치찜 - Kimchi jjim (Braised Kimchi with Pork Belly). Have tried their other dishes in the past, which are pretty standard, but always find myself still gravitating back to these two. The slushy broth is always so tasty and refreshing! They also bring out a good variety of 반찬 - banchan (side dishes). Parking was easy to find this time since we got there early, but sometimes you have to circle around a few times or park at a neighbouring plaza and walk over. Hoping they reopen somewhere else soon!

This is thE place for AUTHENTIC Korean food…read more No "cheese rings", "tteokboki in rosé sauce", or "cheese snow" here! This is REAL Korean food. It was packed with the usual high-decibel level. This food is the closest taste-wise (spice levels) to Korean food which we have enjoyed in South Jeolla Province in Korea. I devoured a lovely doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean stew). Perfectly seasoned. Sooo satisfying. Spouse had the yukkaejjang (shredded spicy beef soup with lots of gochugaru - chili flakes). Both ttukbegae bowls came with purple rice and banchan. DIVINE. Service was efficient. Polite. PRO-TIP:.They've opened a store directly next door which sells house made banchan, Korean sausage (chapsal sundae) and other prepared dishes.

We tried their pork kalguksu which comes with nice thick slices of pork, torched on each side. Tender and meaty. The noodles are cooked well, al dente. The pork broth is rich and flavorful. The cold noodles are very refreshing for hot summer days. The broth has a slightly sweet, a little tangy flavor to it. Lots of glass noodles also cooked al dente. Comes with an egg, sliced beef, cucumbers. Also really delicious. Banchans are fresh and have a good spice to it for those with spice. Service was good, it wasn't too busy so there was only 1 server working. Definitely recommend trying their noodles for a quick, affordable and delicious lunch.

A comforting brunch at Bonjuk Canada - perfect when you're not feeling 100%…read more My partner and I finally sat down for a proper brunch at Bonjuk this afternoon, and it was exactly the kind of meal we needed. I've been dealing with some dental pain, and my partner is just getting over a nasty cold, so we wanted something gentle, nourishing, and easy on the body - not a heavy, greasy brunch. Bonjuk's whole vibe of "comfort food with heart" really delivered. We'd only done takeout before, so this was our first time dining in. The space is small but really welcoming - warm lighting, clean and simple decor, and comfortable seating that makes you want to slow down and relax. It's not a huge place, so there aren't tons of indoor seats, but that also gives it a cozy, intimate feel. Service was friendly and low‑pressure, which we appreciated when we were both feeling a bit under the weather. We ordered the Chicken Porridge ($23) and the Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap ($24), both for dine‑in (prices don't include tax and tip). The chicken porridge was savoury, and soothing, with a rich broth that felt healing without being heavy. It was easy to eat with my sore teeth and left me feeling comforted, not stuffed. The beef bulgogi bibimbap was a nice contrast - colourful, fresh, and full of flavour. The bulgogi was sweet, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the mix of veggies and egg made it feel like a balanced, healthy meal. It's definitely a step up from typical brunch fare if you're looking for something lighter but still satisfying. One thing that really stood out was their baby porridge menu. It's such a thoughtful touch - separate, gentle, low‑salt options for little ones. As someone who's seen new parents struggle to find safe, easy meals out, this felt genuinely helpful and kind. It's easy to see why their marketing feels like they actually care about making food that's good for people, not just trendy. If you're looking for the best value, I'd say go for takeaway. We noticed a steady stream of takeout orders, and the overall costs are slightly lower that way, especially when there are discounts offered by different order platform. Overall, Bonjuk Canada is a good spot when you want something comforting, healthy, and easy on the stomach - whether you're recovering from illness, have dental issues, or just want a more mindful brunch.

Restaurant is pretty busy and noisy so it's really got that hustle and bustle feel. For their spice level we ordered the less spicy option but it came very spicy. This is also likely why it came back in a much larger bowl. Would preferred a new one so we could gauge the spice level but otherwise the flavour is there. The servers are fast and polite despite how the dish was rectified. Overall decent but I'm guessing on the spicier side of food for those who are not used to Korean levels of spice.

Comforting Korean soft tofu stew any day…read more Buk Chang Dong is still the most popular spot in the city for Korean spicy tofu stew. It's dotted all over the city, with a popular following. My better half for one can't resist going when we are in the mood for Korean food. Especially when we encounter cool weather, as was the case during a stormy downpour outside. There are rear parking spots and it's possible to walk through the back door though staff frowned at us going through this while a group did the same later. The menu is still simple: a small selection of Korean spicy tofu stews along with dishes like Bibimbap that pale in comparison. We always order #1 & #3. Soon Tofu ($17.50) with beef, mussel, shrimp for me; kimchi, beef, pork for her. Following the individually-portioned banchan, boiling red cauldrons loaded with silky tofu arrived hot out the kitchen and we quickly cracked an egg in to cook raw. Soup broth was rich savoury seasoning plus adjustable heat. Unfortunately the Bibimbap ($19.50) only came in one level of spice in the sauce, which was a level of heat that was too spicy for our child to enjoy. We noticed the prices were raised recently. The purple rice bottom accompanying the Soon Tofu makes for a good after-meal rice soup for which I enjoy having with the refillable banchan. Do as the locals do, and we always see this restaurant packed with Koreans. They also offer a 5% cash discount at the front counter. Skip it or hit it? Hit it for a warm Korean meal especially on a cold day.
