I love dakjuk (korean porridge), so when I found out Toronto got it's first porridge restaurant, I got super excited! There's limited tables and there was a long lineup for waiting to sit, so I decided to get take out. Their porridge is definitely on the pricer side (expect on avg $20 per person), but they definitely stepped up on their super cute and durable takeout containers! I kept them because it's meant to be reusable. I got the beef mushroom and abalone chicken ginseng porridge. They were both tasty and not overly salty. It also came with a lot of sides. I asked them to separate each into two, so they gave smaller containers instead of a big one. It's good for sharing.

There is only approximately 6 seats and 4 bar stools so the seat down dining is very small. Upon arrival, they informed us that the wait time is 15 minutes, we waited for quite awhile definitely longer than. There's two ladies that finished and sat there to talk forever and wouldn't leave, so extended our waiting time. The porridge ranges from abalone, chicken & abalone, red crab meat porridge, beef porridge. There is a range of hot stone bowl Bibimbap. I ordered the crab porridge, definitely have to request for less thick, otherwise it is very thick because different than our canton congee. My mom ordered the octopus beef porridge, lots of octopus inside. The crab porridge was nice and fresh with sweetness. Overall, not a bad experience except the wait.

Very small but clean and bright restaurant. Staff was very friendly and attentive. It looks like they don't have table service since they have a register where you can order but they do! Our server was friendly and checked in with us. I'm currently having stomach issues so I can't eat much. I ordered the tuna and vegetable porridge which was nice, surprisingly light and warming. You're able to ask for less salt, which I did. It's quite a big portion, enough for two people to share I would say. It was easy on my stomach. This one specifically comes with kimchi, radish, picked cucumbers and soy braised beef on the side. My boyfriend got the bulgogi bibibap, which he said was good. The portion was filling, and they can give you extra sauce if you need. I thought the seaweed soup that came with it was good. For the two of us, it came out to $50 after tip. I think it was a very good meal, I just think that it is a little pricy for soup. Overall good experience and looking forward to returning when I'm feeling better.

Came here on a really cold day so it was perfect! The porridge had good flavour, texture, and generous toppings. The spicy seafood one has a good kick, or if you prefer something mild the octopus and beef one is really good too. The restaurant is small with only a few tables, but I saw a steady flow of takeout orders. The parking situation is also not great, so I think the restaurant relies more on foot traffic. The location is a bit inconvenient but I will be back to try the abalone and chicken one. They also give you a plum juice at the end of your meal which was a nice touch.

If Bonjuk is short for good + rice porridge, then this spot definitely lives up to its name! I came by on a mild but windy day so it hit the spot. If you're in a group greater than 2, you may as well go ahead to order take out because seating is extremely limited here. We waited for three pairs then were seated. We got the mushroom oyster porridge and hot stone beef bulgogi bibimbap. Everything came fairly quickly and was neatly presented. At first, I was a bit taken aback seeing the prices on the porridge, but it is actually quite filling as it is a thicker texture and loaded with toppings. The bimimbap was great too, and came with a seaweed soup for a complete meal! To top it off we both got a plum juice as an "added bonus" though it seems everyone gets it. Although there weren't many tables, the service was extremely attentive as the staff diligently managed takeout orders and the dine-in customers. They've got some cute merch on display as well!

I was starting to get really hangry and irritated after walking around the city all day. We started with Korean beer and shots of Jinro Is Back Soyu. It was a good idea. Overall the food was quite good. I recommend everyone to check this restaurant out for themselves. The Korean pancake with seafood and vegetables was huge and much crispier than the one I've tried before. My beef tartare bibimbap was perfect. Just thinking about it makes me want to have it right now. The sizzling hot plate with pork and squid also looked very impressive. It must have been delicious as well, because one of my companions ate the whole thing with no problem. The spicy shredded beef brisket stew/soup 'Yukgaejang' was something which i wouldn't survive, but my man finished everything to the last drop. Hence we entered Jin Dai Lae. Good decision (yes, I am patting my back). Entree pricing was $3 to $4 lower than Markham/Richmond Hill. Portion was so big that you would be full, and might have to doggy bag. Most importantly, food tasted good. Short ribs stew had many pieces of beef. Squids hot plate was saucy. It wasn't too spicy, so it was good for me (menu didn't have a chilli sign either). For people who like it hot, you can ask for some chilli sauce.
