A few of my Korean friends introduced this place to me and I've been a few times to this location and the one at Finch. I love the homey Korean restaurant vibe. For the raw marinated crabs there's 2 options: either have it in soy sauce or a spicy sauce. The spicy sauce is yummy, but if you want to enjoy the crab flavour more, get the soy sauce version. I haven't tried their other foods yet, but I see a lot of people ordering their other dishes besides the raw marinated crabs!

Overall rating 4.1/5 I've been wanting to try raw marinated crabs for quite some time, so I was really looking forward to Jung Soo Ne because I've heard good reviews. Came with a few friends, and we all enjoyed the food! Soy sauce marinated raw blue crabs: these were definitely the highlight of our meal. Super savoury, creamy, and didn't have that unpleasant fishy smell that seafood sometimes has. Mixing rice in the crab shell for maximum roe and crab guts was a culinary delight. My only gripe with this was that we didn't have any tools to break/cut the legs and shell, so it was hard to get all the flesh out. While the crabs were on the smaller size (which is to be expected), it was so delicious! Tteokbokki: chewy rice cakes, spicy-sweet sauce, and fish cake slices. Don't be fooled by the appearance - it may look like a simple dish, but it is packed with flavour! Seafood soft tofu stew: there's nothing quite like a Korean stew to round out a meal. Served boiling hot in a cast iron pot (the proper way!) with a raw egg on top. This stew was a bit spicy, hearty, and you can't help but sigh/groan after that first sip. In terms of the restaurant and service, these were just ok. Service was efficient, but I wouldn't say it stood out. The decor is a bit dated, and I found that it wasn't as clean as I'd like, but it didn't bother us too much.

This establishment has the best raw marinated crab ive ever had. Admittedly, I haven't had it often, but the soy sauce marinated crab was so satisfying. I had this and the spicy one, and they were both so good. Meaty crabs that reminds me of uni. the kalbi was also really good, though at $40 it is steep. Come for the crab. You won't regret it.

Love the soy raw marinated crab from here, I have tried the spicy one and it was actually way too spicy for me to enjoy. But if you love that spice definitely try it out! The soy marinate is delicious the perfect combination of salty and sweet, they also give so much different banchan with your meal. The were so fast with our order as well, but it is a smaller restaurant so if you do have a bigger party just keep that in mind

Like everyone else, I came here for the crabs! They were really good but incredibly difficult to open with just our gloved hands. They were creamy and a little sweet, and the soy sauce was really delicious. It probably would have tasted amazing on rice too, but it was easier to suck the meat out than to get it out with my fingers. There was a lot of banchan which is always nice, and the food came out pretty quickly. It was all very tasty.

Unfortunately, the crabs were extremely salty. I know they're soy-marinated, but the saltiness was so strong that even the rice and soup couldn't balance it out. It honestly felt like I ate spoonfuls of salt for dinner. I liked the soup, but the crabs not so much.

** There's a few places with a similar name so just make sure you're going to the right location. This one is on Steeles, not Yonge. ** Same as many of my fellow Yelpers, I came to try the marinated raw crab - a Korean specialty that I've been craving since stumbling across Korean Market documentaries and watching short recipe reels. They don't take reservation, so if you're more than 4 people, you might wanna try coming for an earlier dinner. Service is really quick though so I did notice tables turning over fairly often. We ordered the marinated raw crabs (both soy and red) and a gamjatang. Wow that raw crab was delicious. I thought I'd enjoy the one marinated in red sauce more, but I actually preferred the soy marinated one. It was all quite a bit salty, but wow that crab meat is so delicious and sweet. It's got a similar texture to raw shrimp if you've ever had that at sushi. At $26+ per crab dish, it was a bit of a treat for us, but given that it's unique to this restaurant, I'd say well worth it. We also ordered the first set meal which came with mackerel, seafood pancake, army stew, and kalbi short ribs. The ribs were good and the army stew was quite a bit spicier than expected. The seafood pancake though was the best! The crispy fried bits had the best flavour, and it comes packed with seafood and onions. I'd definitely order that alone. And it was huge! I think I'd be back for the crab, and a side of that delicious pancake.

3.5 - My family and I decided on Korean food while in the area and this location popped up so we stopped by here. Lots of seating, we went during lunch time and there was only a table of people occupied. Their menu is extensive, offering a variety of common Korean eats that other Korean restaurants have as well. From what I have seen lately, this place is one of the few restaurants that offer raw crab in the GTA which has been trending a lot online. Some of the dishes we got was fried chicken katsu and stir fried chicken with vegetables. Prices were a bit more expensive than we expected but portions were not bad. I took some of the stir fried chicken home as leftovers and had it the next day. It was still tasty. What I found ok was the cheese, I was anticipating for shredded cheese like mozzarella but got sliced cheese on the dish instead.

Hole in the wall Korean restaurant in a shopping center. We had the soy marinated raw crab (2x crab) and the spicy marinated raw crab (3x crab) and the seafood tofu soup. The crab was fresh and not fishy (almost every table was eating this) and pretty affordable. The soy marinated crab wasnt overly salty, but I wish they split the crab in halves like they did on the spicy marinated crab. The claws on the crab werent cracked, and the restaurant doesnt provide crab cracker tool so the claws become hard to eat. They only provide two gloves per person and they dont provide seaweed for the crab (rice is provided).

When I have my cravings for some Korean marinated raw crabs This is my go-to place! If you haven't tried this out, I would definitely recommend coming here. Besides the crabs, their seafood pancake is so fluffy and good. The service here can be a bit slow as not many people are working, but that doesn't make me not come back. The atmosphere here is good as it is not loud to communicate with friends.

Finally got to try some Ganjang Gejang - absolutely in love! For those who haven't tried, Jung Soo Ne offers the delicious marinated raw crabs! Make sure to order both the soy sauce (Ganjang Gejang) and the spicy (Yangnyeom Gejang). The dishes use a small blue crab for marination, which is left raw for the process. It results in a deliciously sweet crab meat that's soft and tender. The Ganjang Gejang comes with 2 crabs inclusive of the top shells. Make sure to squeeze all the crab meat out from the body and mix it with your rice! The top shells also come with an insane amount of tomalley - a sweet, orange paste-like part of the crab that you don't want to miss out on. The Yangnyeom Gejang comes with 3 crabs, but no top shells. A big contrast to the soy marination, but the Jung Soo Ne does it really well as to not overpower the taste of the fresh raw crab itself. Get both, but maybe you'll agree with me that the Ganjang Gejang is better! I'm just a sucker for the tomalley. During the summer, Jung Soo Ne also offers a seasonal, refreshing naengmyeon (cold noodles). The ice cold broth is much needed on a hot, humid day. It's honestly comparable to another authentic Korean restaurant nearby in the area, so I wouldn't mind coming here just for the naengmyeon either! Jung Soo Ne is tucked in the corner of a small plaza but definitely a gem in the GTA food scene.

I've never seen soy marinated crabs at a restaurant so I jumped on the chance to try it out. Two crabs and a bowl of rice comes to around $25. The crab is not too salty despite swimming in soya sauce and retains a lovely seafood sweetness that pairs so well with rice. If you like the taste of seafood, definitely worth a try! Service is fast but friendly, as the two staff in the front are constantly running food from the kitchen, clearing tables and taking orders. Near constant stream of patrons on a Friday night. No frills ambiance that is obviously a neighborhood staple.

We've been here twice so far and have been very impressed both times. The staff here are great and the service is pretty fast. They give five different appetizers and are willing to refill them all which was really nice. We originally wanted to try this place for their famous raw crab, so we tried the Spicy Raw Marinated Crab. I guess it shouldn't be too surprising that it was very spicy; in hindsight we probably would have enjoyed the soy marinated crab more. However, it was nice to try once and had a very unique gooey texture. I am a huge Bibimbap fan so I was eager to try it here. I was very pleased with just how much meat and vegetables they load in the bowl and it's all very fresh. Additionally, they give the spicy sauce on the side so you can add exactly as much as you want! We love soups so we've also ordered SoonDuBu JjiGae, the spicy tofu soup with seafood. It has a good amount of spiciness and a very flavourful broth. It's loaded with tofu and seafood so really is exactly what we hoped for. I've never had DdeokBokki before so we gave that a try and also really enjoyed it! It's funny to watch each other try to eat it since the rice cakes are super slippery. The sauce was pretty flavourful and although we liked the fish cakes in it, they were huge pieces which were a little tough to eat. Overall our first two visits have been amazing and I doubt it will be long before we return. The food is delicious and there's a huge variety of options for you to try so one visit just isn't enough!

Ambiance is casual, interior is clean, and service is fast and attentive. We ordered a couple of dishes and they all came out relatively quickly. The banchan (small side dishes) are refillable once only. My favourite banchan of the day were the bean sprouts and eggplant. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options, such as the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Vegetables Bibimbap, Mushrooms Bibimbap, Vegetables Udon, Vegetables Fried Rice, Kimchi Pancake, Soondubu-jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew) in different variations, and more. The menu was pretty extensive, covering the most typical Korean dishes from the stews and grilled items, to a few Korean-Chinese dishes (such as Jajangmyeon) and everything in between. Steamed Vegetables Dumplings were quite small individually, but came in a sizeable portion. I liked the green onion garnish. Taste-wise, they were alright. Vegetables Bibimbap was excellent - good amount of mixed vegetables (spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, carrot strips, lettuce, bean sprouts) and the fried egg was perfectly crispy on the outer edges, with a still gooey and runny yolk. Grilled Croaker was also decent. It had a lot of small bones as it was a whole fish. It came served with purple rice, and we chose to add on extra lettuce. Seafood Knife Cut Noodles came in a big portion - with lots of slippery, thick udon noodles, pieces of seafood (mussels, clams, squid, shrimps, octopus), and a little big of vegetables (zucchini, carrot, onion). They came in a nice seafood-infused broth - perfect for a cold winter day. I'd come again for the variety of menu items they offer (especially the wide selection of vegetarian options), satisfying tastes, and great & efficient service.

We also didn't see the previous owner when picking up. We totally regret that we didn't come back sooner to support the old man owner while he was still there. We really like him and his passion for his food and his generosity. I hope the owner who ran the shop before is enjoying his happy retired life and finally gets to move back to his country and reconnect with his family. Food-wise, it's been a while since we had the collagen soup, but it feels a bit bland compared to what we had in the past. However, I'm glad they gave us some salt and pepper on the side because adding that does elevate the soup a lot more and you can add to your liking. It's just a bit odd that they packaged the warmed soup in a plastic bag for takeout. The fried chicken is good but needed a dipping sauce (which it came with on the side) for flavour; it's not as juicy and the batter isn't as fluffy as I once remembered it. Also, the prices are higher, which could be due to the rise in costs, but there are no more takeout specials; we're paying the same rate as if we were dining in. Portion-wise, it's just barely enough to feed two for $45, including tax. Though I did have a side piece of bread at home, which was all that's needed for a more filling meal. The soup includes rice and two side dishes. All in all still a delicious meal.

Disclaimer: this review is for my visit in the summer of 2023…read more I can't get over all the 4-5 star reviews for this place. I have been wanting to try this place for a while since there aren't too many Korean restaurants that specialize in Seol-lung-tang in Toronto. So when I invited my sister out for our monthly lunch date, I was very very excited. Entering the restaurant, I was shocked by how dumpy the place was as some reviewers described the place as cozy. There were maybe less than 10 tables with wobbly wooden partitions haphazardly strewn about in between them. The black tabletops had visible wipe marks from being wiped down with unclean cloth. There was also an off putting smell that I couldn't quite pinpoint to and this should have been my cue to leave but we decided to give it a try since we drove some way to eat here. Since Han Oak claims to specialize in their soups, we ordered their Tteuk-Seol-lung-tang (Special beef bone soup) in both regular broth and spicy broth. Our soups arrived in tiny earthen bowls that the word "Tteuk" describing the menu item was put to shame. Despite that "Tteuk" was supposed to have extra meat and larger than their regular size, our portions were dismal. However, the small portion in this case turned out to be a blessing as I knew that the off putting smell I had smelled upon entering the restaurant was coming from the actual soups themselves. Against my better judgement, we ate the soups and both got sick later that day. There was nothing special about the flavours of their soup nor was it really a product of a long-boil as they claim. The soup was milky (typical of Korean bone soups) but light on depth and flavour which was beyond disappointing. Also, typically in Korea, any restaurant that specializes in these types of long-boil soups have superb kimchi; unfermented napa cabbage kimchi and well fermented radish kimchi. The kimchi that came out with our meal, both napa cabbage and radish, were too sour and well beyond being acceptable as a banchan. They should have cooked with it instead of serving it as a side. The lone server was busy staring into her phone the whole time we were eating and this ridiculous meal came to a little over $50. I will not be returning to this restaurant and my search for an authentic Seol-lung-tang in Toronto will continue.
