Having cold noodles in the summer is one thing but having cold noodles in cold weather is a different kind of comfort. We always come here for their cold noodles. The broth is clean, and refreshing. But the real magic for us is pairing it with something hot on the side. Our go-to order every time: cold noodles + beef tripe soup. Hot and cold, rich and refreshing. The contrast just works‍. Everything balances out so well, especially when it's freezing outside. The banchan is always generous and consistently good. Service here is genuine, kind, wholesome, and quick.

Spicy beef tripe soup

Visited this authentic Korean family owned restaurant which operated since 2004. This is were locals and Koreans go to for it's traditional home-style cooking. Tried their signature slushy Naengmyeon (cold noodles). The buckwheat noodles were thin, chewy and bouncy which was perfect texture imo. Soup is icy, cold and refreshing. Comes with half an egg, radishs, cucumbers and pear which pairs well with the light sour soup. Spicy beef tripe soup was umami and flavorful. We requested to lower the spicyness level but it was still quite spicy like Nongshim instant noods level. The beef tripe and turnips was soft and tender. My only complain is that there wasn't much brisket at all and it was mostly brisket meat thins. Tons of cabbage in the soup and it comes with a side of purple rice. Overall the flavours were great and service was attentive and friendly. It's free parking so make sure to come early because parking space is limited.

For $50.95 the price of the gamjatang jeongol may seem steep but it's the equivalent of three (if not four) pork bone soups. Even though the menu states it serves two, the dish is enough for four people if you add an appetizer and extra bowls of steamed rice. In fact, when the metal platter first arrives with uncooked glass noodles sitting on top, it's so full that our server removes two bones and soup into a separate bowl to make room for the noodles to cook down. The pork bone was boiled long enough so that they easily broke apart, allowing us to get to the meat without much work. Yet, the broth just wasn't flavourful enough. Yes, it satisfied but didn't contain enough spice to really whet the palette. Luckily, Cho Sun Ok's kimchi had more than enough heat to make up for the tame gamjatang broth. Combining a hunk of meat, a scoop of rice, and a piece of the crispy fermented cabbage made for a great bite. I was so impressed by the side dish that I got a small tub to go ($11.99). The meal arrives with a nice selection of banchan including fish cake slices, kimchi (cabbage and daikon), sesame oil laced bean sprouts, and chewy gelatin slivers. It was more than enough for our duo, but they regularly came by to see if we needed anything else anyways. If anything, what stood out most about this visit was the attentive service. Despite being packed and us sitting in the far corner of the dining room, food arrived quickly and there were always people walking by at regular intervals, so no one felt ignored.

This is one of my favourite Korean restaurants along Yonge. When it's cold out, this is the type of food I crave for, a stew with a side of soondae. This is a good amount of food and I usually leave with leftovers for the next day. I need to cross the city for them, but it's worth it. Be prepared to wait for a table, but they usually turn over very quickly.

Came for lunch on a Sunday and was seated right away. This restaurant is known for the cold noodles. As it was cold out only tried one. The cold noodles were very tasty with the broth coming from ice slush. The other dishes were quite good as well and the identities were good. Service was decent and efficient.

Small korean restaurant known for their cold noodles. This time we tried the cold noodles with a side of steamed dumplings along with a kimchi jjim jeongol (hot pot). The hot pot is nice and comes with 2 rice and side dishes (refillable). Nice variety of side dishes, we had 7 different kinds :) portion size is generous. Overall pretty clean as well, but small tables, so not good for big groups. Service is quick and friendly.

Heat wave is here, so the only correct option for a hot day meal is too cool off with some korean cold noodles! We each got the classic cold noodles and paired with fried and steamed chives dumplings. The slushy broth is actually so flavourful and has such an amazing umami flavour. Noodles are nice and chewy, plus the cucumbers and radish adds a nice crunch. It's such a refreshing dish, sooo good!! Just keep in mind this place is always packed so go early to leave your name down.

Sunday is Korean food day, highly recommended by a friend, why not. Went for lunch, get there before 1230 to avoid a wait. Check out the menu, descriptions sound authentic, however never judge a book by is cover. Far from being a connoisseur, I've been to enough Korean restaurants and even to Korea to know what is good and what is fake wannabe (can I use this word) Korean food. Ordered the Kalbi Tang (friend's recommendation) and Bibimbap. The Kalbi Tang broth had a clear, rich savory slightly beefy flavor profile, honestly it was in my opinion no different than many other broths I've tasted. The glass noodles were firm, the star of the show was the Kalbi short rib beef (bone in). 6 large pieces, meat was thick. tender, falling off the bone good. In fact. I thought the ratio of meat to noodles was too much, sorry meat lovers. Their BiBimBap is now one of my favorites. The stone bowl was scorching hot, really gave you a nice even layer of crispy rice at the end. Vegetables, mushrooms, meat plentiful and with the added gochujang sauce, each spoonful was a flavor bomb of textures, freshness and Korean goodness. Staff were kind and efficient, they even came around and asked if you wanted extra side dishes, yep, they asked before you asked, no kidding. Sorry, no BTS or ATEEZ music playing in the background to distract your eating so bring along a lucky someone that will keep your attention., you know who they are.

Food was tasty! It was a hot day so the cold noodle hot the spot although a little pricey. Kimchi jjim was great and a huge portion. We had leftovers. Such a great variety of banchan too. It gets busy very quickly, but service is pretty efficient so you'll get seated relatively quickly.

Great Korean eats. Very friendly fast service and nice private booths. We ordered the Kim chi soup and Korean short ribs. Very good!

This has to be the best Korean restaurant in the GTA. The food is phenomenal, fresh, flavourful, and really high quality. I usually get the kalbi tang or the cold noodles and they are soooo good. I honestly can't rave enough about how satisfying every meal here is. No, it's not as cheap as some of the Korean spots in Chinatown, but it's also not that much more and the difference in quality is totally worth it. I just wish I lived closer because I'd be here all the time.

Are you looking for authentic Korean food? This place doesn't take reservations so we came earlier around 6pm on a Friday night and it was already packed with a waiting list. We were seated in a booth table for 4-5 people. It was so cramped with the 6 of us which made the dinner less enjoyable so I won't be coming with friends next time as it doesn't appear that they have bigger tables for 6 or more people. It was our first time here so I wanted to try everything. We ordered quite a few items to share so it was nice to try a bit of everything so I know what I want next time. The Gamjatang and and kimchi pancake were amazing and their Mool Naengmyun (cold noodle) was really refreshing. I would definitely be coming back as there were still so many other dishes that I want to try. Maybe I'll try Soondae (Korean sausages) next time if I'm feeling adventurous!

The pork bone soup was nice and flavourful! Dumplings were very crispy!! Always busy here and a lot of authentic Korean food choices on the menu.

Their jokbal comes with a variety of side dishes like bean sprout soup, lettuce, kimchi, spring onion, etc. My fav is their BBQ jokbal. Nice smokey aroma, added bounce to the skin. Regular jokbal can feel a bit greasy after a bit and you get palate fatigue, but not with this one! And I also like to add spicy sauce to any order. Though a whole order of spicy jokbal is too much for me, using the spicy sauce as a dip from time to time really helps mix the flavours up. I would say they are on the pricey side, when you know how much pork hock, the cut itself is. But still, it's bothersome to make, and as a treat once in a while, totally worth it.

Jokbal is a unique traditional Korean feast…read more Hanyang Jokbal in North York specializes in Korean braised pork hock. Hanyang was the prior name of Seoul, where this dish gained popularity. The Half & Half platter ($44) featured their original jokbal and our pick of garlic bossam. Both braised meats were soft with savory grilled flavor, while the jokbal skin had a gelatinous texture. Pork hock isn't exactly my preferred cuts but these had no gaminess; a slight disappointment was the chunky cuts instead of slices. The meal started with a salty bean sprout soup that helped to cleanse the palate. Lettuce wraps & garnishes such as kimchi, jalapeño, scallions were provided to balance out the meaty flavour. Seafood pancake ($24) was crisp and contained plenty of scallions and imitation crabmeat. For some fun, our party added several orders of DIY Seasoned Rice Balls ($12) which came with a variety of ingredients to mix using the provided plastic gloves. The tasty rice balls were easy to make with furikake, nori, mayo, sesame & tobiko. It was so easy even kids could make them. The interior became busy on our weekend visit, in a typical Korean restaurant atmosphere that felt authentic and welcoming. The staircase down to the basement washroom needs a clean and the utensils also required a replacement. The meal itself was tasty with portions large enough for sharing, making it a worthwhile family meal despite a few misses. It's the original of 5 locations now in Canada. Skip it or hit it? Even if pork hock isn't your thing, it's a spot we've enjoyed for the occasional meal.

The onion pickles and kimchi go very well with the meat and cut through the grease. Everything was delicious and our servers just kept the sides coming haha. They took great care of us. My only complaint was that it was so hot in our booth... when you step away to the washroom, the restaurant is well ventilated and air conditioned, but at our booth, it felt like zero air flow, we were sweating so hard while BBQ-ing. Portion size is pretty fair for what you pay for as well. Pricing can be expensive for two people, but with a group it's very reasonable. 20260703

Service was very friendly and phenomenal. We ordered 2 of their Kalguksu Combo's which came with a choice of meat, rice, side dishes, kimchi, and a bowl of hand pulled noodles. We went with their jaeyuk and bossam. We also ordered their mandu since we heard good things about it. I LOVED their kimchi. It was so flavorful and fresh. The side dishes were just alright. Nothing too special. I didn't really like the Jaeyuk, the flavor is there but the meat just isn't tender. But I've never had tender Jaeyuk or Bulgolgi so maybe that is just how it is. The bossam on the other hand was really delicious, tender and soft. I highly recommend it. The kalguksu was great as well. The soup was hearty and the noodles themselves were so soft with a nice chew to it. The mandu was also really good. They were so large and plump and the wrapper was so thin. This place is amazing for the price! At about $23-24 for each combo, it comes with a ton of food. And their gigantic mandu was only $13.5 for 6. Their Kimchi and Kalguksu was definitely the highlight for me and is comparable to the ones I've had in Seoul. I would definitely come back again. Also if paying by cash, it's 10% off.

I would say the quality of the food isn't as high as another joint nearby with the similar cuisine, but at the sametime, they more than make up for it with the large portions and lower prices and the service was great. Definitely some place we will revisit again in the future. Especially love their banchan they serve and the generous bowl of kimchi, enough for our party of 4 without us needing to ask for seconds. By the way the banchan with cabbage turns out to be the sauce for the dumplings too, which was a nice touch. Ambiance is casual and there isn't too much seating and so I feel it's a bit tight as we got the corner seats. Not really anywhere to set a purse, so definitely dress casually to avoid getting splatter from your food and bag if you tend be a messy eater like me.

On top of that, the toppings were very skimpy: the salmon ones were just a few small cubes mixed with a lot of spicy mayo, an the scramble eggs ones...they were just scramble eggs. Flavor-wise, nothing really stood out either, aside from the tofu skin itself (which was premade) Honestly, I'm starting to question these yubuchobap spots in general.
