Soya sauce marinated crab 26$
Helen T.

Operated by a pair of old lovely Korean couple! The menu is a little smaller than other restaurants, but they serve the rare "marinated crabs"! This is truly a hidden gem if you like marinated crabs! Unfortunately, I felt like their stews were more or the blend side. The environment is also very cozy and warm! Pro: They take credit card

I recently got together with foodie friends over a good Korean meal at JungSooNae, near Yonge and Finch. It's a small family-run restaurant that was quite busy while we were there. We had come here to try one of their specialties, GanJang Ge-Jang, aka Raw Marinated Crabs. This dish has blue crabs marinated in a house special sauce and served raw. Yes, raw! Opinions were mixed, with some liking it and others undecided. I didn't try it due to an allergy that's been acting up lately. Other dishes included the always popular Pork Bone Soup, Bulgogi, Bossam, Seafood Pancake, a Cold Noodle Soup with Kimchi, and of course, all the delicious side dishes (kimchi, bean sprouts, purple rice, etc.) that come with it. Overall, it was good dinner and it's always good to dine with friends! Until next time...

Quite literally a hole in the wall restaurant located under an apartment on Yonge St. We went there to celebrate another Yelper's birthday and the service wasn't terrible but we weren't treated well either. Our table ordered Bulgogi, Bossam, Marinated Soy Sauce Crab, Seafood Pancake and GamJaTang. The dishes made up for the service experience. Bossam was by far my favourite dish with the GamJaTang coming in second. The raw crabs were an adventurous pick for our table and to save people the trouble of ordering something they may not like. You'll need to eat them with your hands and squeeze the crab out and it tastes like crab flavoured sashimi.

You need at least two bowls of rice to finish this soy marinated crab meal. It's salty buy yummy salty enough to make yoy eat a lot of rice. It's so called "밥도둑 bop do dook( carb pulling side dishes" Excellent cucumber salad as well! All the food for this meal was packed really well so there was no leakage while I traveled to carry for an hour.

Come here for the raw marinated soy crabs! A local restaurant that serves up hearty Korean food, especially known for their seasonal raw marinated soy crabs! The main reason I came to check this restaurant out! Came on a rainy weeknight with some friends and it was BUSY! I guess everyone else also had the same idea of eating the highly anticipated seasonal raw crabs. The restaurant is far from fancy but gets the job done with their delicious food. Dinner came with 6 complimentary banchans (side dishes) to go with the meal. And now onto the food review: GanJang GeJang (Raw marinated soy crabs): 10/10 D e l i c i o u s ! It's sweet, crabby and pairs well with a warm bite of rice. There isn't much to eat from these crabs as they are small but packed with flavour. The shell of the crab is filled with roe, make sure you scoop some rice into the shell and mix it all up, it's so good! As for the body of the crab, you really just squeeze out all the meat with your fingers and enjoy! I usually don't bother eating the legs since it's too much work for such little reward (haha!) ChikMoolNaengMyeon, Cold noodle: 8/10 Your standard cold noodle in an icy broth that is chewy and refreshing. This is usually a must for me since I love all things cold! Vinegar and mustard comes on the side for you to add into your bowl if desired. Bossam: 7/10 Boiled pork belly meat with boiled cabbage. Image eating this like a wrap with some rice. It's good, but definitely had it better at other restaurants. I've also had this dish with a salty fish dipping sauce at other restaurants but seemed to have nothing to dip this in here. Flavour was standard and nothing special, but still a nice dish to get. ChulPan GalbiJjim: 8/10 Beef ribs on a sizzling plate drenched in a sweet sauce. It was fall off the bone tender, packed with flavour from the sweet, thick and sticky sauce and great for sharing and eating with rice. Budae Jjigae (Army Stew): 8/10 Can never go wrong with an army stew that is boiling on your table with all the hearty ingredients. Salty, spicy and heart warming broth to finish off the meal. They serve italian salami pieces in their army stew which was a surprising/ different touch to the traditional stews. Come here for the crabs! It's a must for the summer!

First time having raw crab. Cute small restaurant in North York. Came for dinner. It wasn't busy but it was full. We got a table almost right away. Looks like it's a family run place, the staff were amazing, very patient and kind. We were very indecisive of what to get etc etc. Honestly, the raw crab was worth the try but I don't think it was for me. I would come back for the other foods tho; it was delicious .

Came here specifically to try raw marinated crab as they are one of the only Korean restaurants in Toronto to serve this delicacy. I'm not sure what the previous reviewer experienced, but the older gentleman who served us was extremely attentive and friendly. The interior was simple and plenty of seating was available when we arrived. We ordered the Ganjang Gejang and YangNyeom Gejang (soy and spicy marinated crab, respectively). Each order came with two crabs, and were on the smaller size in terms of portion, especially for the price of $26-28. We also got the WuMuKongGuk (agar-agar noodles in cold ground soybean broth), which the server asked if we were certain we wanted, explaining that it is essentially flavourless. I had seen this dish in Korean shows and was very excited to see it on the menu. The crabs arrived with a portion of purple rice each, and some disposable gloves to reduce the mess of eating with our hands. Both marinades were absolutely delicious - the soy had a rich umami and sweet taste, while the spicy sauce kept you coming back for me. The cut of the soy crabs were much easier to break apart and squeeze out the meat, whereas the spicy version was cut across the body and required more technique to get past the shell. When mixed in with the rice, the creamy texture made each bite heavenly (despite having to work hard to achieve said bite). The soybean noodles were the perfect compliment as the soy marinade from the crabs could be used to the season the dish (instead of the salt provided on the side). At the same time, the rich and nutty cold broth helped to cut the spice when needed. The agar agar noodles gave the dish a crunchy texture and acted as a sponge to soak up the thick creamy broth. The server also came back a few times to check that we enjoying the dishes and was pleased we were happy with the WuMuKongGuk. While dining, we noticed some large family-sized hot pot and stew dishes ordered by a table next to us. I will definitely be back to try their spicy pollock hot pot (serves 2 people) next time.

NOTE: This review is mainly for the raw crabs I've had a couple of their other food items, but it really didn't stand out to me. BUT the crabs were what got me. They were amazing. It was orgasmic. If I go there again, I would probably just get the crab and nothing else. The crab was easily 5/5. I highly recommend their soy sauce marinated crab over the spicy sauce. The spicy sauce was good, but their special soy sauce just brings out the flavor of the crab a lot. And I'd also say the price was good for the amount of crabs too.

The employees in the restaurant were very rude to my friend and I. There were two in the restaurant and two were quite rude. We came to the restaurant to order marinated raw crabs, of course the banchan side dishes were served first. Culturally, banchan side dishes are always refillable in traditional Korean restaurants. With no other customers, they refused to refill our banchans. Frankly, this behavior disgraced the Korean culture, mistreated the customers, and should not be seen in the restaurant or any other service industry. The food were way overpriced with mediocre quality but did not matter anymore after all.

A nice neighbourhood restaurant My husband and I want to have a meal and we saw this place. it is right beside the car parking lot at finch station. It is a family restaurant that is at the 1st floor of a condo building. due to covid, we were sitting at the outside tent. i just ordered regular pork bone soup and my husband order the korean beef soup. it was a good family meal. it were summer and we were outside, so there are some bugs. pay with cash and you will get discount.

We were craving for a hot fresh korean soup, so we visited Jung Soo Nae's patio. The patio is specious and airy. There are some heaters around the tables to keep us warm. Each table maintains a good distance from others. Due to Covid, we filled in a health questionnaire and had our temperature checked. Side dishes and rice came in one-time container, but the main dish and soup were served in regular stone bowls which was great to maintain the temperature. Food tastes great as usual and tastes like home made. We enjoyed the lunch very much. Jung Soo Nae for sure is our go to place for Korean food.

Alright so I decided to come back despite my below average experience two years ago.. and was pleasantly surprised! The quality of their food and service improved a lot compared to my last visit and I am actually glad my friend convinced me to come back here! Finch Jung Soo Nae is located on the first floor of an apartment building right next to Finch station (I parked there and walked over - its super cheap!!) We ordered the raw crabs in the soy sauce marinade and spicy sauce again.. much, much better than time. Though the crabs were still small in size there was more meat and the soy sauce marinade was a lot more savoury and enjoyable! The raw crabs in spicy is my favourite as I enjoy spicier foods but honestly I'd still get both when I come back LOL We also tried the table top stir fry baby octopus in spicy sauce! BOMB AF!!!! So flavourful and SPICYY just the way I like it. If your spice tolerance isn't too good you might struggle with this because my friends were dying LOL I love that Jung Soo Nae included rice cakes in this dish too!! Can definitely see why this is one of their top dishes. Service was also a looooot friendlier this time - last time the servers would only talk to us if we needed something, they didn't even say thank you after we paid LOL but now they were a lot more pleasant. They were smiling more and engaging in conversations with customers, and even say you're welcome now!! Its not much but it makes a huge difference in setting the tone of all their guests' visits. The older gentleman is sooo sweet :( Kept refilling my friends' water because they were dying LMAO I guess some restaurants do deserve second chances! Will definitely be back again and will recommend for anyone looking for bomb-diggity korean food!!!

Have you heard of Korean raw soy marinated crab? The only time I had this was in Seoul many moons ago and enjoyed it. I've long hard about Jungsoonae and their famous raw crabs. Raw marinated crab: The flavors were okay but I found the soy sauce pretty salty. 2 marinated crabs with small amounts of roe ended up being like $18 (while at the grocery store you can get a whole pound of them for $6) Beef bone cabbage soup: I saw this recommended in a few reviews. The broth was very light and needed some salt but the main thing was the beef wasn't fall-off-the-bone tender as I would have liked. Donkatsu with cheese: This reminded me of a large pork nugget with cheese in the middle. It wasn't what I was expecting and the pork was too lean Stir fried pork and kimchi: We usually like this when the pork is juicier/fattier and theres more oil/sauce to spoon over some rice. However this was pretty dry. I think I'll stick to having Korean delicacies in Korea and just having the regular staples here in Toronto

Ambiance is casual, interior is clean, and service is fast and attentive. We ordered a couple of dishes and they all came out relatively quickly. The banchan (small side dishes) are refillable once only. My favourite banchan of the day were the bean sprouts and eggplant. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options, such as the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Vegetables Bibimbap, Mushrooms Bibimbap, Vegetables Udon, Vegetables Fried Rice, Kimchi Pancake, Soondubu-jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew) in different variations, and more. The menu was pretty extensive, covering the most typical Korean dishes from the stews and grilled items, to a few Korean-Chinese dishes (such as Jajangmyeon) and everything in between. Steamed Vegetables Dumplings were quite small individually, but came in a sizeable portion. I liked the green onion garnish. Taste-wise, they were alright. Vegetables Bibimbap was excellent - good amount of mixed vegetables (spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, carrot strips, lettuce, bean sprouts) and the fried egg was perfectly crispy on the outer edges, with a still gooey and runny yolk. Grilled Croaker was also decent. It had a lot of small bones as it was a whole fish. It came served with purple rice, and we chose to add on extra lettuce. Seafood Knife Cut Noodles came in a big portion - with lots of slippery, thick udon noodles, pieces of seafood (mussels, clams, squid, shrimps, octopus), and a little big of vegetables (zucchini, carrot, onion). They came in a nice seafood-infused broth - perfect for a cold winter day. I'd come again for the variety of menu items they offer (especially the wide selection of vegetarian options), satisfying tastes, and great & efficient service.

Definitely not my first time here as I've come with family or friends over the past 15+ years, every time, leaving very satisfied. Made sure to arrive for opening time to get a table right away since based on past experience, the wait can take some time, especially for dinner or on the weekends. Of course, had to order my two favourite menu items: 물냉면 - Mool naengmyun (Cold Noodles) and 김치찜 - Kimchi jjim (Braised Kimchi with Pork Belly). Have tried their other dishes in the past, which are pretty standard, but always find myself still gravitating back to these two. The slushy broth is always so tasty and refreshing! They also bring out a good variety of 반찬 - banchan (side dishes). High quality, great service, pricey, but worth the dime!…read more A premium Korean bbq spot that is worth the hype and price tag. It's dry aged meats so you can expect the pricing to be higher than other Korean bbq's. The service was top notch with servers coming to check in with us throughout our meal. The food was amazing here and the quality of their meats is definitely the highlight. Here's what we got: Yukhoe (raw beef tartare) 5/5 - So fresh, so delicious and a must get appetizer. Pairs perfectly with the sweet pear slices and delicious crisps. Cold Noodle Soup 5/5 - Chewy noodles with a cold broth that is the perfect carb and contrast to the bbq meats. Refreshing and delicious. Heritage No Name 5/5 - Such bang for buck in my opinion. $25 for 240g of this premium heritage pork. When cooked, there was no porky flavour at all, it got so brown when cooked that it almost looked like beef. A must get! Marinated bone-in short rib 5/5 - This was so good and was one thick piece of short rib. My favourite meat of the night for sure. Like all Korean bbqs, this spot also serves a variety of banchans and kbbq comes with a complimentary soup that I thought was the best compd soup ever (compared to all other kbbq places). Parking can get busy in the garage as only the first 2 floors are dedicated to visitors while the upper floors are monthly passes. Note that Omiwol provides 4 hour parking validation if you eat there - more than enough time for meal. Staff were friendly and provided helpful tip around the amount of food and cooking the meat. We came on a weekday for lunch and decided on the lunch feast for 2. One thing that I immediately noticed was different than other Korean bbq places was that they seem to have internal ventilation within the grills at each table as there is almost no smoke in the restaurant despite many grills going on. This gives the restaurant a higher class feel and your clothes don't smell like bbq meat by the end of your meal! In terms of the meat, these were the stars of the meal. The pork belly had a nice fat that crisped up on cooking. The collar was tender and meaty that developed a good crust on grilling. The flat iron steak was soooo tender and juicy. Similarly, the picanha was meaty with good flavor though a big firmer. The banchans and lettuce were fresh. We got kimchi, spicy cucumber and onions, pickled onions, cabbage and jalapeño peppers, pickled sheets of radish and honey glazed sweet potatoes. All of which were tasty and go well with the bbq meats. On the side is a dish of sauces that include what looks like a sweet brown sauce (to me had minimal flavor relative to everything else), fresh wasabi - really great accompaniment to the beef and seemed more authentic than normal horseradish like wasabi, and a red sauce that reminds me of sauce that goes on bibimbap. The lunch set also comes with your choice of pork or beef kalguksu which is like a home made noodle dish in a stew. Very enjoyable to have to contrast the bbq meats. For us, our meal ended with melona popsicle which they have a variety of flavors. Price: 70$ pre tax and tip for lunch special which was well worth. Bring cash for a 5% discount.

A comforting brunch at Bonjuk Canada - perfect when you're not feeling 100%…read more My partner and I finally sat down for a proper brunch at Bonjuk this afternoon, and it was exactly the kind of meal we needed. I've been dealing with some dental pain, and my partner is just getting over a nasty cold, so we wanted something gentle, nourishing, and easy on the body - not a heavy, greasy brunch. Bonjuk's whole vibe of "comfort food with heart" really delivered. We'd only done takeout before, so this was our first time dining in. The space is small but really welcoming - warm lighting, clean and simple decor, and comfortable seating that makes you want to slow down and relax. It's not a huge place, so there aren't tons of indoor seats, but that also gives it a cozy, intimate feel. Service was friendly and low‑pressure, which we appreciated when we were both feeling a bit under the weather. We ordered the Chicken Porridge ($23) and the Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap ($24), both for dine‑in (prices don't include tax and tip). The chicken porridge was savoury, and soothing, with a rich broth that felt healing without being heavy. It was easy to eat with my sore teeth and left me feeling comforted, not stuffed. The beef bulgogi bibimbap was a nice contrast - colourful, fresh, and full of flavour. The bulgogi was sweet, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the mix of veggies and egg made it feel like a balanced, healthy meal. It's definitely a step up from typical brunch fare if you're looking for something lighter but still satisfying. One thing that really stood out was their baby porridge menu. It's such a thoughtful touch - separate, gentle, low‑salt options for little ones. As someone who's seen new parents struggle to find safe, easy meals out, this felt genuinely helpful and kind. It's easy to see why their marketing feels like they actually care about making food that's good for people, not just trendy. If you're looking for the best value, I'd say go for takeaway. We noticed a steady stream of takeout orders, and the overall costs are slightly lower that way, especially when there are discounts offered by different order platform. Overall, Bonjuk Canada is a good spot when you want something comforting, healthy, and easy on the stomach - whether you're recovering from illness, have dental issues, or just want a more mindful brunch.
