Cute and quaint korean street food spot in thornhill! Sinjeon really satisfied my cravings for some yummy rice cakes and fried food on the side. I've never been to Korea before but I know that this would be a go-to street food dish for me. I tried the rose combo that comes with rose tteokbokki, deep fried fish cakes, and a tuna mayo rice bowl, it also came with a drink ($25)! We added sausages to our tteokbokki too (+2.99) and in total it was very filling. The rice cakes were the perfect texture, soft and chewy, and the sauce was sweet but spicy at the same time. We got level 1 spicy and it had a kick so be careful if you can't handle your spice! My favourite was the tuna mayo rice bowl - it was so delicious mixing it with the tteokbokki sauce, and really cooled down the flavour as well. I would highly recommend checking them out if you are in the area and need your fix on korean street food. This is definitely a restaurant you go to grab a quick bite, I wouldn't recommend anything fancy or large groups here. The server was very polite as well- I'll definitely be back!

Was searching for a nice korean snack spot closer to the heart of downtown and stumbled upon this place near college station! With multiple locations worldwide I had to give it a try, we got their set for two ($22) Which comes with one drink, tteokbokki, a rice bowl and a few fish cakes. Overall portions were a bit small for two people their tteokbokki was straightforward and chewy, their rice bowl was good. We got their mixed spam and tuna bowl (+$1) and they ran out if the 5 pcs regular fish cake option so they gave us three of their glass noodle filled fish cake rolls instead which we good dipped in the tteokbokki sauce. For both the rice bowl and tteokbokki you can choose spice levels and they offer a comparison guide to how spicy each level is ie. as spicy as shin ramen or buldak noodles etc. Overall pretty average experience nothing stood out too much.

This restaurant is mainly offer street food. I ordered a curry udon and a fried combo. Curry udon was spicy and yet creamy and sweet. Loooooving it! There were three pieces of small sausages with the udon. So yummy!!! Fried combo allowed me to have a chance to try a variety. I hope they will have beer. I believe that the curry will go well with cold beer. They do have soju but it's too strong for me. I would love to come back again.

Honestly come here for the rice Tteok-bokki The Rose sauce was delicious and the rice cakes were nice and chewy. The deep fried fish cake had a nice fry texture that when you dip it into the Rose sauce you get an elevated flavour. This place is known for street food, it's probably very easy to make but they execute pretty well. Winter time was perfect for that

A Korean franchise with stores all of over the world, Sinjeon made its debut in Toronto with a location near the intersection of Yonge & Steeles. Known for their tteokbokki, you can certainly warm up your belly with this spicy dish. They have 3 combos available, each containing a dish of tteokbokki, fried fish cake, a drink and an item unique to each set. We tried set 1, which also included another fried item of our choice. The tteokbokki was very chewy and had a sweet taste to it, but even the mild was fairly spicy. The fried japchae roll was tasty, better than the fish cake which was only average. The cheese kimbap was also average, did not really taste the cheese. Sinjeon Tteokbokki ($14.99) Fried Fish Cake (w/ Set) Fried Japchae Roll (w/ Set) Sinjeon Cheese Kimbap ($8.99) @Sinjeon_Toronto Price Range: $3.99 - $37.99 IG: #The_Yum_Report

A hidden gem in North York -- a small, family-owned Korean restaurant serving up a delectable options of noodles, udon and sides dishes with a promising taste. The service is excellent, and love tiny detail touch of their take out packages, very impressive. Although the restaurant may be easy to miss, it's a must-visit for anyone looking for an authentic Korean dining experience.

Their jokbal comes with a variety of side dishes like bean sprout soup, lettuce, kimchi, spring onion, etc. My fav is their BBQ jokbal. Nice smokey aroma, added bounce to the skin. Regular jokbal can feel a bit greasy after a bit and you get palate fatigue, but not with this one! And I also like to add spicy sauce to any order. Though a whole order of spicy jokbal is too much for me, using the spicy sauce as a dip from time to time really helps mix the flavours up. I would say they are on the pricey side, when you know how much pork hock, the cut itself is. But still, it's bothersome to make, and as a treat once in a while, totally worth it.

Definitely not my first time here as I've come with family or friends over the past 15+ years, every time, leaving very satisfied. Made sure to arrive for opening time to get a table right away since based on past experience, the wait can take some time, especially for dinner or on the weekends. Of course, had to order my two favourite menu items: 물냉면 - Mool naengmyun (Cold Noodles) and 김치찜 - Kimchi jjim (Braised Kimchi with Pork Belly). Have tried their other dishes in the past, which are pretty standard, but always find myself still gravitating back to these two. The slushy broth is always so tasty and refreshing! They also bring out a good variety of 반찬 - banchan (side dishes). Parking was easy to find this time since we got there early, but sometimes you have to circle around a few times or park at a neighbouring plaza and walk over. Hoping they reopen somewhere else soon!

It was packed with the usual high-decibel level. This food is the closest taste-wise (spice levels) to Korean food which we have enjoyed in South Jeolla Province in Korea. I devoured a lovely doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean stew). Perfectly seasoned. Sooo satisfying. Spouse had the yukkaejjang (shredded spicy beef soup with lots of gochugaru - chili flakes). Both ttukbegae bowls came with purple rice and banchan. DIVINE. Service was efficient. Polite. PRO-TIP:.They've opened a store directly next door which sells house made banchan, Korean sausage (chapsal sundae) and other prepared dishes.

Service was very friendly and phenomenal. We ordered 2 of their Kalguksu Combo's which came with a choice of meat, rice, side dishes, kimchi, and a bowl of hand pulled noodles. We went with their jaeyuk and bossam. We also ordered their mandu since we heard good things about it. I LOVED their kimchi. It was so flavorful and fresh. The side dishes were just alright. Nothing too special. I didn't really like the Jaeyuk, the flavor is there but the meat just isn't tender. But I've never had tender Jaeyuk or Bulgolgi so maybe that is just how it is. The bossam on the other hand was really delicious, tender and soft. I highly recommend it. The kalguksu was great as well. The soup was hearty and the noodles themselves were so soft with a nice chew to it. The mandu was also really good. They were so large and plump and the wrapper was so thin. This place is amazing for the price! At about $23-24 for each combo, it comes with a ton of food. And their gigantic mandu was only $13.5 for 6. Their Kimchi and Kalguksu was definitely the highlight for me and is comparable to the ones I've had in Seoul. I would definitely come back again. Also if paying by cash, it's 10% off.

We ordered the meat kalguksu, a round of dumplings and my SO ordered the kalguksu set with bulgogi. Everything was really delicious. I would say the quality of the food isn't as high as another joint nearby with the similar cuisine, but at the sametime, they more than make up for it with the large portions and lower prices and the service was great. Definitely some place we will revisit again in the future. Especially love their banchan they serve and the generous bowl of kimchi, enough for our party of 4 without us needing to ask for seconds. By the way the banchan with cabbage turns out to be the sauce for the dumplings too, which was a nice touch. Ambiance is casual and there isn't too much seating and so I feel it's a bit tight as we got the corner seats. Not really anywhere to set a purse, so definitely dress casually to avoid getting splatter from your food and bag if you tend be a messy eater like me.
