Live in NJ so I've been to a lot of diners. This one.. not so good. The chicken salad is somewhat tasteless and whipped to death. Not a single chunk of chicken in this salad. The French fries are undercooked and the coleslaw has no flavor. Do better. Your regulars deserve that. read more

I've eaten here a number of times over the years and to me it just okay nothing spectacular and certainly nothing bad. I like diners but few have ever wow'd me but Olympic met my expectations.These types of places and this one in particular in my opinion does breakfast best, lunch was just okay, the food came out warm but it completely lacked any flavor and was rather bland. The service was above average and the prices are reasonable, like any diner they try and cater to everyone's taste and this is always difficult and almost impossible to deliver on. I have always liked the Olympic Diner's food and service. The menu has changed and is not as extensive but the food is still great. Went with couple of friends for dinner and we took advantage of their Wednesday Dinner Menu. One had Turkey with mashies and gravy w/asparagus spears...the other the Cajun Salmon with rice and beans. I had the broiled Salmon with french fries...all were perfectly prepared and were good to the last drop. The dinner comes with soup/salad, entre and dessert. I had the Greek Salad which with the dressing is one of the best tasting I can remember. For Dessert I had fresh fruit cup...it was fresh but the cantelope was not ripe so it was very hard....I was disappointed after dinner that our server never thought to offer bread, cole slaw or pickles to us as I saw them on other tables. Went here 7 years ago. It was just after they renovated. Food was ok, but did have big issues with service, etc. Tried again recently and already went back three times! The food is excellent! Large portions and fresh! The fresh baked desserts are wonderful! The grilled salmon is thick, and juicy! The prices are all very reasonable! Absolutely give this diner a try!! read more

I grabbed breakfast here with my sister and mom - we weren't impressed. We kept it simple and ordered breakfast combos (one egg, home fries, sausage and toast). My critiques: 1. The sausage was deep fried, when it doesn't have to be. 2. The "butter" on the toast was not butter, at least it didn't taste like it. 3. To add, the toast and home fries were soggy, with no crisp at all. All and all was a disappointing breakfast. I love a good Diner. And was saddened to see my favorite one "The Lindenhurts Diner" which my son & I dubbed the Silver Diner closed down. So alas, my friend called and wanted to do lunch & wanted to go to a Diner, which surprised me because I call him my "Food Boo". He enjoys a good meal out & leans more towards the upper scale exotic places. Any who, we decided to come here. My first time, he's been here several times & I was quite pleased. Great Greek Salad and they threw on extra anchovies for me, & a Pastrami Reuben with fries and a side of brown gravy. 3.5* - I haven't given any half ratings yet but this is definitely a 3.5 for me. I'm not a complete fan... but it is better than "A-OK." This place has ginormous dishes! I ordered pancakes and some sausage with scrambled eggs. The pancakes were wider than my face! I also tried their greek salad which was okay. A lot better than most diners! The service is a little bit above average. They are a bit expensive though and I would not go back unless I had no other choice but it was pretty decent for a diner. read more

It's your regular hometown diner.. The one you've been going to for years .. The one you meet your friends in pajamas.... After school..... When you're sick.... When you're sad.... This diner has been around forever ! I hop all over this menu from soups and salads to wraps and omelettes..the staff are overly attentive and they always remember you if you're there enough which I like... I really love their chicken noodle soup, French onion and matzoh ball! So good! The wraps from this place are also HUGE so keep that in mind when you're ordering, splitting it may be better .. Sweet potato fries and kens honey mustard are one of my go to's at this place as well... For you veggie lovers; the Mediterranean wrap is pretty perfect.. Yah yah yah, so I cheated on Terrace Diner and let me tell you it was worth every mouthful. I ordered exactly the same thing. A chicken Slovaki with Feta(trying to support my Greek friends) And a slice of cheese cake. The chicken to salad ratio was perfect. The chicken was so moist and tender it just exploded on entry. The flavor was perfect!!!!! Now it's hard to get a good piece of cheese cake. This place has a cheese cake with a great consistency and look but the flavor is weak. It's like getting into bed with your dream partner and then being let down having to say is that it is that all you got. It's just disappointing and leaves you unsatisfied. All said and done skip dessert order more food read more

Just came here for dinner and it was a pleasant experience. The French onion soup was a little too salty, but it's soup, so yeah. I'm not sure if it's because I'm 24 and embracing my alcoholism that I noticed beer, but I did, and it was delightful. I had a chicken gyro and it was pretty good, a lot of lettuce though. My girlfriend had the short rib and the thing was a beast. It was really good though. The waiter was really nice along with the rest of the staff. The Olympic Diner is a neighborhood staple which has been around for many years. The staff is friendly and the food is good. I've been twice in the past 2 months and I wasn't disappointed. The menu is extensive for both breakfast & lunch-I haven't visited for dinner. I met my grandpa there yesterday and my breakfast quesadilla (eggs, cheese and avocado) was SO yummy! I think we literally waited 10 minutes for the food which was a huge bonus as we were hangry. Next time I meet my grandpa for breakfast, this will be the spot. read more

I have to say I was very disappointed coming here, especially after my boyfriend had such good praises and constantly begged to eat here. Right away there was noticeable communication issues. People would approach the cashier because she is right there when entering, but she was just say wait for the hostess. Then you would sit down, and other people would walk in and be seated before you would. A little hectic, and the place wasn't crowded at all, so it wasn't a big deal we were skipped, but frustrating. The waiter didn't have much personality, he was friendly enough, but nothing to really comment about. The food- we ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and chicken wraps for the entrees. All the food came out SHOCKINGLY fast. Almost made you think how is everything coming out so quickly?? You could tell their oil for the fried food needed to be changed, the fries and sticks were very dark. My chicken wrap had barely any chicken in it, and old bacon from hours and hours ago. My boyfriend got a buffalo chicken wrap that was mostly all shredded cheese. Our bill was 45.19, and it was extremely disappointing and way over priced for crap food. Me and my dad went for lunch today for his birthday. He has a chicken Gyro. I had the fried chicken, tender salad with avocado. It was so amazing I haven't been to this restaurant in 10 years. I lived in Deer Park for 20 years then I went to leave, and I left my milkshake. I went back to buy another one. Then I told the girl at the front counter what happened and she gave me a new one even though it was my fault, she was super nice. She had brown hair with maybe blonde highlights she was dressed very nice by the way, she looked great service was also great and the other girl with the black ponytail with the long hair was also very nice who made the milkshake. It was wonderful. I'm very happy I went back, I will definitely be coming here a lot more like I used to !!!!!! I was actually at 107 auto one morning and the owner brought Derek a coffee, I thought that was so cute and hilarious since so had been there for the same reason, so that's actually made me start going again. Always a quick and casual bite with friend or family. We are always seated upon arrival. The staff is very attentive and quick. I usually always order either the Chicken Souvlaki sandwich or the Garden Grill sandwhich. The food is always prepared fresh, and served hot with crispy french fries. We have been going to this diner for years. Their dessert menu is also good, but some of their custardy cakes are too heavy. They have dinner specials where you can get a soup or salad, and entrée and a dessert for a great price. We also come for Sunday breakfast once in a while. The multigrain fruit waffle is a must try! This diner was the epitome of a diner prior to it's remodel, but now it's even better than ever. What a fresh look it has now! This place serves up some large dishes, so come hungry. The diner atmosphere is there in a way that it sends you back in time even though the place is nicely remodeled and new. A FAILURE OF OLYMPIC PROPORTIONS!!! Although I live around the corner, I stopped coming here long ago. Tonight, I made the grievous error of going for dinner, because I was starving. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! First, I wasn't able to get a sautéed chicken dish, because, I was told, the chicken is all "Pre-Made!!!" So they made my dish with a fried cutlet, that was so grossly overcooked, my knife looked at it and committed suicide! I then ordered a medium burger in its place, and got a burger that was so overcooked, the sole of my boot was juicier, and significantly more appetizing. (That after waiting over 10 minutes to get it, because One waiter was handling the entire FULL front section (so much for COVID Protocols,) and was unable to circle back to us. So.... Never again. If I wanted crappy food, Deer Park Avenue is lined with fast food restaurants. Any one of them would have been a step up!!! read more

Omg! Went in for breakfast today and they were very curt and not friendly. The waitress tried to pass off a dirty cup of coffee. When I told her it was dirty, she apologized and took it away and I then watched her dump out the coffee and refill the same dirty cup!!! Really lady!! The coffee is good enough but they don't have an espresso machine to offer an espresso, cappuccino or latte. Just coffee. I'd only go here if it were my only option.
