This diner has been around for a very long time. In recent years, it has become a bit of a spectacle and somewhat famous for it's over the top decorations for every season and holiday. The food is very good and I was excited to have a chicken Souvlaki platter. I intentionally asked them to leave off the fries and double the Greek salad. While the salad itself was fairly basic, the feta cheese was extremely fresh. Loved the dressing. The souvlaki is an already wrapped sandwich with peppers, onions and chicken inside a very delightful pita. Service is friendly and they bring a large basket of rolls, breadsticks, butter, and crackers...plus an entire plate of some kind of pot roast with rice. Exceptional service. Dining areas, counters, restrooms all quite clean despite heavy traffic. Tasteful seasonal decorations. Massive menu and diverse food selections. Prices are on the high side but portions are generous to say the least. My negatives; trim the menu. There is too much of a choice. Be a bit more focused. The portions don't need to be quite so generous. Perhaps offer a "seniors" menu. Fewer selections, smaller portions, lower prices. We'll certainly be back. Want to order a few more meals before making a sweeping comment on food quality. But we will be going back. read more

On my social media feed, I came across videos for the Embassy diner and I thought they were super cute and I knew I was in the area a few times a month and figured why not stop in on a rainy Saturday afternoon around 2 PM. Diners are a special place, you always have a varied clientele, but it's always the same clientele. If you know what I mean, there's always the 60-year-old couple looking to get a hot deal on the dinner specials that start at 4 PM when they're there at 2 PM lol then you have the long suffering married couple probably haven't said a word to each other in several years sitting across from each other, enjoying the cup of soup and sharing a plate of food and my all-time favorite the married couple with kids were the kids are the only ones talking and the husband and wife are just playing on their phones. Like I said typical 2 PM diner atmosphere! Very comforting just like the diner food that you came for. Embassy diner has the typical fare: salads, triple-decker sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, wraps, paninis, dinner specials, late night specials, etc. etc. I chose the French dip (I was in the mood for something messy) and I got curly fries as an up charge. Everything came out quick as a wink. My waiter Sal was a smiley happy little lovebug, absolute sweetheart. I didn't stay very long. I ate half the sandwich and some of the fries. I only had a water , wrapped up the rest to go, and I enjoyed the leftovers The next day. Most Long Island Diners are pretty much the same... with the same menu, I like to rate these establishments based on staff, prompt service and of course, food quality. I have been wanting to come to the Embasy Diner for a while now. The diner is not close to me and I have some more local places to visit in a pinch. We were out with friends and this place worked out perfectly. From the outside you can tell that you're walking into a very patriotic establishment. As soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted with Red, White and Blue. Gus, the owner's family is firmly committed to public safety, with members of his family in all fields of service. The diner is big and bright and you're greeted with a BIG HELLO and smile. I was there as part of a part of group so we had a nice table where we could sit, speak and catchup up. Our friendly-efficient waitress greeted us moments after we walked in offered suggestions. I had a wonderful cheeseburger while my wife ordered of french toast with crispy bacon. All very simple but all fresh and tasty. Our friends had steak, fish and sandwiches. All good, all fresh, all tasty. Embassy has a lot of fans, but I just didn't find the food to be anything more than good. It is convenient if you're visiting the hospital across the street, but there are stronger options not that far away. It's not bad.... just not great. read more

Came here from breakfast with my family since we are visiting from NY. Diners down south isn't really a thing. Breakfast was great service was quick, friendly it was a busy Sunday morning! The food at the embassy diner is always good and the service is quick and for dinner tonight I got a grilled cheese sandwich and sweet potato fries and it was delicious. The ambience is always good and it's family friendly and it's always good to watch a little tv while you eat and the staff there is friendly and nice it's always crowded on a Friday night but when it's time to pay the bill for the food make sure that you have enough money for your dinner . A cushy diner in long island on a very busy turnpike :) The staff and owner were very attentive and kind, we were seated immediately and there was no wait time for ordering. Turkey club was a disaster, the fries was a sodden mess (cooked hours ago, had to send it back), the pasta with meat sauce was canned tomatoes sauce (almost kitchup) with bunch of fried ground beef thrown in. 12/4/24. Made my Christmas trek to check out their displays. The music and the decorations will surely get you into the holiday spirit. First, we were given a complimentary small sample of sausage and peppers over rice (very good) and a full bread basket. We had the Manhattan clam chowder (heavy on the potatoes and carrots, light on the clams), fried scallops (10 per order) with a side of spaghetti with marinara sauce, and a special, mixed seafood fra diavolo (shrimp, scallops and calamari served over linguine $32.95). Pasta was not cooked al dente as requested, but tasty nonetheless. The fried scallops are perfection. For dessert, we split the chocolate mousse and cheesecake. I was surprised how good both cakes were. Def recommend. Leslie our server was brash, not friendly or welcoming. She did her best to rush us and the tables near us. I barely got through the menu and she asked for my order multiple times. I joked to stop rushing us! Managers walking around saying hi to tables was a nice touch. Once again I went here to Embassy Diner last night for convenience. Got a yucky very sweet coffee they said was cappuccino. I ordered layer cake was served and refused eggclair. Got layer cake not particularly fresh or tasty had hard cover of either granola or it's too hard to eat. I must make efforts to go to the places that I know of instead. We decided to have a quick meal and tried here. Lots of decor and stuff everywhere. We were greeted and sat quickly. We placed our order which came out immediately My husband's omelet was filled to bursting with vegs meats and cheese the home fries plentiful I first read from the menu the avocado toast which I decided to order as a change How disappointing. It had maybe one thin slice of avocado on each slice of bread which was spread with a couple pieces of sun dried tomato For $11.00 I expected more. Our server never came back to check if all was ok nor did he refill the coffee. If he did I would have sent it back. I had to get another server to get our check. I went today, yes on a Sunday at noon, and understood it would be busy, but wasn't prepared for the Circus that I encountered. Parking is a nightmare...after finally securing a spot, we walked to the front door with loud music blasting outside through blown speakers only to find a line, mostly with families with little kids. We live nearby and decided to finally try this place. We were seated straight away and got complimentary chicken and lemon potatoes which was really good. The menu is extensive so we got wrap, panini & chicken souvlaki. The salad dressing was was really delicious, as was their tzatziki sauce. Portions weren't crazy big but just right. We celebrated 2 birthdays: a friend from Bethpage who turned 88 and my son who turned 30. Since one birthday was at the beginning of March and the other near the end, we decided to choose a Sunday in the middle.....close to St. Patrick's Day to celebrate both birthdays together. Our friend highly recommended Embassy Diner. Indeed, it was a great choice. The parking lot was full so we had to park across the road. As we walked to the restaurant I dreaded the thought of waiting for a long time to be seated. Our friend assured us that the line would move quickly. Upon entering the decorations were very appealing, there was a very long line of people waiting to be seated, and the music was BLASTING. Thankfully, the line moved quickly and we were seated in about 10 minutes. However, the LOUD music was annoying; so much so that we could not talk to one comfortably without raising our voices. We ordered hamburgers: Deluxe Beef Burger and Deluxe Turkey Burger. Very delicious, arrived quickly, and I tipped 20% because of the service. However, we were surprised and, quite honestly, disappointed that this restaurant upped the bill by 3.5% [service fee on top of the meal and tax] for using a credit card.......something not done in Connecticut where we reside. Thank goodness we tipped in cash as that would be increased by 3.5%, too. The LOUD music and 3.5% additional service fee are the reason for dropping my rating from 5 Stars to 3 Stars read more

It's your standard Long Island diner. You have a choice of a booth, table or if you like, "sit at the counter". Embassy diner has been here for at least 45 years I believe and offer an abundant selection of food from eggs and pancakes to delicious hot and cold sandwiches/burgers. There are also dinner specials like full entrees of course that offer great extras that are included with dinner. These extras that are usually included are items like soup, salad, an awesome bread basket with assorted breads and crackers and some type of kitchen appeteizer of the day. When I went the appetizer of the day included with dinner were tasty greek style meat balls with tomato sauce and rice pilaf which was a nice freebie. If you go during the dinner rush you are awarded with these extras which is truly a nice touch. I would recommend eating here if you're in the area or a local. read more

Went last night for dinner, was busy but was able to make a reservation and we were seated quickly. The waiter was rude, we felt rushed and forced to order quickly. Then a man, whom Im assuming is an owner since he was whistling at employees to do things the entire time because he was too lazy to walk over & communicate with words, approached our table to tell us "you have been here a while and I got a line out the door" and was so annoyed, it was rude and we were only there for an hour and 20 Minutes at that point. I have dinned at the fanciest of places and the not so fanciest of places and have never had someone come over and tell me I have been there too long! Our dinner experience at Embasssy Diner was very upsetting. I have never dealt with this before in my life. We noticed we were the only table that did not receive the complimentary appetizer for the upcoming St. Patrick's day holiday. They brought out the appetizer to a table that sat down after us. The food & service were decent. When we paid our bill at the entrance counter, the employee asked my spouse if he left a tip at the table. The customers that paid before & after us were not asked that question. The look and treatment received was horrible. I've never been and was super excited to go . I love all the decor and was greeted very nicely . My problem was with our waiter who was super rude and checked on us once . I would love to go back but do not feel welcomed as the waiter made a few comments that we think he was trying to be funny but said it with an attitude . Good luck to whoever that guy was . Disappointing first experience at the Embassy Diner! First the positive. Place is nicely decorated for Halloween and fall. I am sure a lot of effort was put forth to do this. Wish the dining experience would have been more enjoyable. Traveled 35 minutes to get there and took less time to order, eat and pay bill. Dinner was on the table before we had finished mac n cheese bites. Waiter minimally interacted with us. Handed us the bill after asking if we wanted anything else. If you are looking for a place where you can get in/ out quickly, then this is the place for you! Definitely not worth the trip in traffic to feel rushed through dinner.
