Used to come here a lot back when it was celebrity diner. Saw it had reopened and decided to check it out. This place is PACKED. We came on a Sunday so that may have had something to do with it. Ended up waiting for about half an hour for our seats. I ordered the cubano on rye and it was pretty good. Really hit the spot. The servers were attentive and made sure my coffee was filled at all times. The latte was very pleasant and refreshing. Really brightened up my Sunday morning. This prime location on Jericho Tpk in the hub of many shops, businesses and a hospital - formerly Celebrity, which served as the only diner for decades .. is now a completely new Diner with experienced owners and a full renovation. Much roomier and still bright and pleasant Friendly severs. Easy parking. Only tried burgers - coleslaw - fries & onion rings, not cooked either with hot enough or the right kind of oil - as too much did not cook put. Burgers very good. Also saw a popular chicken stir fry that looked ok. Desert counter looked a few steps up with lots of choices. Lemon Meringue looked extremely huge and worth a try. Cheesecake was precut and not sure if as good as what was one of the best out here. Will have to try and see. Will enjoy trying out this new diners menu. read more

Came here for early dinner with friends...second time since they renovated. Used to be Celebrity Diner when we were here last. Friendly staff and service. Decor and lighting is brighter and plenty of seating. Best to get here early to avoid wait time and crowds. The desserts looks delicious so save room otherwise order dessert first. Variety of choices to select from the menu - breakfast all day menu is an option. Food is good - can't go wrong with ordering a burger or staple choices. Chicken quesadilla was ok. The food could improve. Scrambling eggs and putting two pieces of American cheese on top is not eggs scrambled with cheese. It's lazy. It's really a 3.5 stars. There's a parking lot with lots of seating. An abundant range of choices as a typical diner. Service ranged from good to just OK depending on the person that came by to help. The cleanliness and the staff were the main reason for the low rating - otherwise I would have given a 4 based on food alone. When shown to our seats, the seat was wet and the backrest dirty; the extra plates we got had 3/5 clean plates where the other 2 were dirty and one had actual food crumbs on it. The first time I went the coffee was great as well as the smoothies but this time they both missed the mark by a landslide - not sure if it was a different person who made the drinks? But who puts ice cubes in a smoothie?? Hello - it's a smoothie, you're supposed to blend it; and the lady who gave it had an annoyed look about her when I stated that. And the drinks all came out about 7min after the food all had come to the table... Their side sausage was great 10/10 but very pricey $8 for 3 small pieces. Their glass of Orange juice was $7... Took my mom to meet up with her friends for brunch and a book club discussion. The diner itself was nice inside and looked clean. The staff, I'm not to sure about them. They seemed rushed or not interested. When we got there, it wasn't crowded but still, the staff seemed uninterested and not very friendly. I could definitely forgive that but it wasn't crowded. It was near impossible to get anyones attention for a second cup of coffee. One woman showed up after we placed our order and got our food and it was really hard to flag someone down to get her a menu and they never did come back to take her order so she didn't eat. I couldn't get anyone's attention for a second cup of tea. As far as the food, it was ok. I got scrambled eggs on an english muffin and the waitress just quickly moved on to the next person, not asking if I wanted cheese on it or maybe some fruit on the side. I felt rushed and like she was annoyed. Another woman had questions about the roast beef and again the waitress didn't listen to her, she was asking if the roast beef was rare and the waitress just talked over her. The sandwich came out and the roast beef did not look rare and the woman ended up not really liking it. At one point one of the woman was trying to ask for milk for her coffee from a staff who was passing by and she got an eye roll. I mean seriously? Is a little milk too much? Shouldn't it have come with the coffee anyway or shouldn't the waitress have asked if she wanted milk when the coffee was ordered? No one came to ask if we needed anything or wanted to order dessert. All in all, I hope the ladies find somewhere else to hold their book club meeting next month. I wouldn't go back and I hope they don't either. read more

Came here when they first opened and can't say I have any desire to come back. We were seated quickly but that's about it.... Our server was nowhere to be found. I mean nowhere and apparently no one else will help you. We tried to order, ask for water, anything, but we kept being told that our server was coming. We waited a solid 20+ minutes before she finally came out from the back and it was the very first time we had seen her since being seated. Finally ordered, our food also took a while to come out. Maybe it's just me, but I expect diner food to come out fairly quicker, especially when all we ordered was a burger. When it finally did come out, it was the second time we had ever seen her and the food was not worth the wait. The burger was subpar at best and a bit more expensive than I was expecting. Also, fries are extra? Really? Combined with the terrible service, horrible wait to even get water, place an order, and then get our food, the mediocrity of our food and the high price, i have no desire to come back or can even recommend you to go once just to "try it out." Came to check out the new renovations on this diner. Plenty of parking and wow is it beautiful on the inside. Very clean. We were seated promptly and the server was very attentive. We started with some mozzarella sticks which were perfectly crispy and I ordered the California chicken sandwich as my entree and it was so big I got to save some for later. I've been going to Neptune in Bayside and was excited when a Long Island location opened up. I went on a Saturday night with two of my friends and was surprised with how packed it was (including their parking lot). The renovation was great and I love the modern vibes from the diner. However, I feel like the food was just alright. I got the Mediterranean wrap and thought the chicken was on the drier side with not enough mozzarella, but I did enjoy the sun dried tomatoes. The coleslaw was also alright but they did a good job with the onion rings. The service was pretty decent we were seated pretty promptly and they checked on us once in a while. There's nothing quite like eating at a diner. For one, breakfast is served all day long. Second of all, the menu has endless possibilities which kind of make it hard to choose. This was our first time here since new owners bought it ( previously The Celebrity Diner ). Our server Rivas was very attentive as was the rest of the staff. Our food came out super fast and was cooked perfectly. The bathroom was spotless which in my opinion speaks volumes. Beautifully decorated interior Greek themed of course . We decided to come here for dinner and while I'm not a big fan of diner food, the restaurant seemed pretty busy and with the new ownership, I had optimistic expectations. The interior was really cute and well lit. Like all diners, the menu was extensive. Our waiter was kind but it took a very long time for the food to come out. The portions were very generous. Our stuffed mushrooms were pretty good but it is made with imitation crab. The New Yorker Wrap was okay, it was pretty much a mouthful of pastrami. The Cobb Wrap was rather disappointing and was very heavy on the avocado without tasting like much else. The chef's salad was truly a mistake. The roll up roast beef, ham, turkey, and cheese tasted like something you could find at a grocery store deli and just sat on a huge stack of greens and the dressing was very acidic. The sides of Cole slaw and potato salad were rather bland and also large portions. Overall, with the high price and mediocre meal, this experience hasn't really changed my outlook on diners and I don't think I'll be back. read more

The new Neptune Diner is in the old spot of Celebrity Diner. I heard that they are somehow related to the owners of the original Neptune Diner in Astoria. I understand they are new and I hope it gets better for them. Because it was bad. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was packed. The schools were closed because of Passover/spring break so that's probably why. We had to wait for the table (which is fine) and then we had to wait for everything else. The server was definitely struggling with how busy he was. He took our orders and we waited some more. He returned and dropped the food for 3/5 of us, then stopped to take the order from another table. Returns with the 4/5 plate and then left again. Finally everyone had their food. We asked for drinks that never came, waters weren't filled either. My order was incorrect. I told him but I ate it anyway. I was over waiting. It looks nice inside but as you can expect from the experience we had with the service and food, the bathrooms were a complete mess. Again, I hope it gets better for them at the new Neptune. I'll start by saying that I'm probably biased as a life-long patron of Celebrity diner. I went here pre-renovations not knowing about the switch over. It seemed more expensive than before. A plain Belgian waffle was a lot. I went a second time and didn't even get to a seat. The staff was so disorganized and rude to me AT THE DOOR that I just turned around and left. Very sarcastic, very rude, very much not the vibe that used to be in this diner. I really wanted to give the food another shot but after being made to feel super awkward for trying to get on the wait list I don't think I'll be back. This was the first time. Once we sat down, he asked us what drinks we wanted. I ordered coffee and orange juice for my daughter. He didn't ask us what size orange juice and what type of coffee and milk. He just brought the drinks. Then I found out there were two sizes of OJ on the menu. Of course, he brought the large size. I ordered the built your own omelette. I said mozzarella cheese, sausages and mushrooms. When he repeated, he said cheese, sausages and mushrooms. When the order came, it was American cheese. And he just put down white bread toasts. Usually the diner waiter would ask what type of bread, coffee, milk, and size of drink. He didn't ask any of them. Once I put down the fork, he came and asked any containers to go. Of course, he dropped the bill too at the same time. By that time, there were still many empty tables. My husband and I dined here last week. We had seafood broiled platter and flounder. When the waiter was serving the Greek salad it came with he said "by the way, it's 2.50 extra." He should have said that when ordering. No big deal but I get a sense of nickel and diming at this restaurant. No more free soda, no free desserts. On the up side the food was fresh but much smaller servings. Also, no more soup and salad. May go back if desperate but I'll be keeping it simple and I'll ask prices beforehand. Went here last night for the second time. The first time was pre renovations and again after renovations. I have been going to the diner long before the new owners, when it was Celebrity. I will say the menu is bigger which also has food selections at a higher price. You pay a little more but you are also getting less. Food items that would normally come with a soup or salad and drink now don't come with anything. Also, if you want to substitute expect an up charge. The Cole Slaw and Burger was very tasty. The Veggie burger was very good as well. However, the Greek items that come with a salad, does not really come with a salad. I would call it shredded lettuce mixed with shredded cucumbers and peppers with olives and feta thrown on top. I found the staff to be less friendly than it was celebrity. The wait staff is very "dry". It used to be a great place for families to come but I would not consider it "family" anymore. It was great when the whole staff used to know the kids, play around with them and talk to them a little. If I had to choose Neptune or On Parade down the road, I think I would choose On Parade. read more

A very pleasant surprise!!!...... A lot of people had their feathers ruffled with the old Celebrity Diner closing. The only thing that is consistent is change. This change is for the better. The food is excellent overall. Chicken beautifully marinated and cooked with flavor. Moussaka surely homemade and delicious. Burgers excellent. Nice chunk of good feta on the salads. Everyone else I saw was also enjoying their food. Only weak point are the precut cakes in the dessert case. Commercial and just ok. Homemade baklava is a notable exception, and amazingly good. We live in Syosset and have been here several times over the past few weeks. Only one waiter was not good (confused but still nice). The rest of staff couldn't be nicer and more professional. Prices are very reasonable for what is received. It's new. It's clean. It's great!!! read more
