Its pretty good. The chili was great. My main meal what is expected of a diner. The place feels a little dated, but in this day and age it was actually nice to be in a place that felt familiar. Blue Angel Diner in Plainview NY, makes food fresh. I had a Reuben sandwich and the cornbeef lean was spiced perfectly as was the rye toast. Odin was the cook this day. Everything tasted great including the side order of carmalized onions to add to the fresh made home fries. I got the chicken salad platter, which was a massive portion of chicken salad, cole slaw, potato salad, and some veggies. It was all really tasty! My dad got the unpictured turkey dinner which he said was the best diner turkey dinner he's had in a long while. The service was quick and friendly. I stopped by for lunch while I took a break from waiting at the hospital for a family member. From the start, the service was impeccable, I was greeted politely by the host who also was my server. I've been going to Blue Angel diner for many years, but today was my last time stepping foot into this establishment. To my absolute horror and disgust, I was served a glass of water in a DIRTY, unwashed cup. There was a lipstick stain on it and an unidentifiable object in the water itself. Nauseating and unsanitary don't even begin to describe it - and it's a million times worse given we are still in a pandemic! When I said something to the waitress, she ignored me and just brought me a new glass of water. When I then flagged it to the manager, she denied that a dirty glass would ever be served. I proceeded to show her these pictures of the glass and the object in my water; she said, "oh, that was in there?" and then walked away. No remorse, no apology. NOTHING. So gross!!! It's small in size in comparison to most other diners, but I believe that is one of its attributes. The diner has a casual atmosphere with a combination of booths, tables and a long sit-down counter. Besides the cozy atmosphere, I do like the consistent fresh quality ingredients and the large sharable salads. When I dine here for lunch, I am a creature of habit; larges salad with a scoop of Tuna salad is my only choice off the menu. Another love I have for diners is the consistent pour of coffee. Compared to those popular coffee chains I believe I am saving money having coffee at a diner.
