5/25 Just the four of us ( the remix to Grover Washington Junior's- Just The Two Of Us. Anyway we're headed to IKEA but decided to eat first, I was routed by GPS to the Hicksville Diner but the driver said " there's a diner right there. So we flipped the bit, for the lack of a better term, and ended up at Broadway Diner. WARNING! When you are headed for a certain place, stay on course. It's not good to deviate. I was the first one walking in because I had to use the restroom. I was totally ignored for less than a minute. The guy finally comes over and a lady cuts him off and asks him about the cake, like no one in the restaurant could have assisted either her or me. He was not in a rush to see what I needed. When one of my party of four walks in 2 minute later, he comes over to attend to me. I just had to ask why he did what he did because I felt offended. I'm hearing, K Dot's- "they not like us" in my mind, while all of this is transpiring. Again! IYKYK! I'm watching one worker wipe down the cake cooler because it was foggy. More like going through Pittsburgh PA in the morning and the sun is up. The four of us are now headed to the table and this place has nice murals but I wasn't focused on that, I was more concerned about this restaurant needing to be refreshed because it really shows on rainy days. I'm Just glad that we weren't sitting by any window. I ordered the vegetable omelette, it was bland with no taste, I had to put salt, pepper, and ketchup on the meal to spruce it up a little. The customer service could be a lot better, the server also forgot the honey that was requested. I know, I'm only human, born to mistakes, The Human League said it best. The only excitement I experience is when I went to get the Napoleon, I showed my ID and we got a good laugh from that but otherwise, I'm going to take Eddie Kendricks advice, Keep On Trucking! 3.5 stars overall, service was prompt and because it was a bit late on a Saturday night, we wanted a quick bite and I love diners. This menu was so fun to go through, so many dessert options too. It's literally the second page of the menu as featured items more so than the food. Not going to lie, saw a few folks order those monster sized shakes topped with ice cream or donuts. Looked so good but I'm trying to be good. Hubby and I shared potato skins as an appetizer. I was pleasantly surprised that it was paired with salsa as a sauce on the side as well as the traditional sour cream. The bacon on top was good but one had a lot more fat in it than crispy bacon bits so that was a little off putting. The melted cheese and skin overall was good texturally but the potato could've used another two minutes in the oven. I like my skin side more crispy. Hubby ordered a burger with mushrooms and Swiss, came with fries. It had two full sized onion rings inside and lettuce and tomato; served with the knife through the center for plating. It was a good burger! Fries were nice and crisp with still a soft center. Perfect. That's why diners rock! Always reliable, ordering burgers and fries. I ordered the Western Skillet. Who doesn't love breakfast for dinner?! Loaded with a bed of home fried potatoes. Needed a pinch more salt but no biggie, I just added it myself. It could've used more ham to be honest but the mix of peppers and onions were plenty. I devoured the three eggs on top, which I chose sunny up. Eggs your way so you decide. Zero stars if I could. We will never return to Broadway Diner. My husband and I went out for Saturday night dinner on 06/13 and arrived at approximately 6:20 p.m. We were seated right away and handed menus, which was unfortunately the only prompt part of the entire evening. After being seated, no one came over to greet us, introduce themselves, take a drink order, bring water, or even acknowledge that we existed. We waited more than 20 minutes before I finally had to ask another server whether our table had anyone assigned to it. When our server eventually appeared around 6:45 p.m., there was no apology, no introduction, and no explanation for the delay. She simply took our order as if nothing had happened. We each ordered the dinner special, which was supposed to include soup, salad, an entrée with potato and vegetables, coffee or tea, and dessert. We asked for our salads to be wrapped to go and planned to go straight from soup to the entrées. While we waited, we could hear other tables around us complaining as well. People were not receiving drinks or refills in a reasonable amount of time, and the overall atmosphere was one of frustration. We never received water for the table, and our iced teas finally arrived only after nearby tables had started making complaints. We both ordered chicken consommé soup. A different server brought chicken vegetable soup instead. When we explained that it was not what we ordered, the same soup came back with thin noodles added to it. We ate it because we did not want to make waves, but it tasted like canned soup. My husband thought it was at least tasty, but that was about the only positive thing either of us could say. By around 7:00 p.m., we had finished the soup and began waiting for our entrées. And waiting. And waiting. After about another 20 minutes, my husband went to speak with the manager because we had been in the diner for about an hour and had received only iced tea and a cup of soup. The manager seemed completely indifferent. He said the kitchen was having issues, but he never came into the dining room to address the delays, apologize to the tables, offer any kind of update, or even bring something simple like a breadbasket while people sat waiting. At around 7:45 p.m., a third server came over and asked if we wanted pickles, coleslaw, or a breadbasket. At that point, we did not want extras; we wanted the dinners we had ordered an hour earlier. When our original server returned, I asked where our dinners were. Her response was, "You're next." That answer only made the situation feel worse, as if there was one cook making one table's food at a time while the entire dining room sat neglected. By 8:00 p.m., we still had no entrées. After sitting there for one hour and forty minutes with nothing but iced tea and soup, we finally decided to leave. My husband had wanted to get home for the Knicks game, and frankly, we had already been far more patient than this place deserved. As we were leaving, the server said she would give us a refund, which made no sense because we had not paid yet. On our way out, I saw that my dinner was finally just coming out to the table. My husband's meal was nowhere in sight, so we kept walking. This was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had: nonexistent service, wrong soup, endless delays, no communication, an indifferent manager, and a dining room full of unhappy customers. If Yelp allowed zero stars, that is exactly what Broadway Diner would get from us. read more

Putting aside they overcharge $6.00 more than any other diner I have been to for the seafood dinners, but the fish is not fresh! I ordered broiled Filet of Sole. It was served with no sauce, at all, dry and overcooked. It was absolutely frozen fish! I asked the waitress if I could order something else as the fish was awful. She asked the manager and he said they don't exchange, so the answer was no! There is nothing positive I can say about this diner! I paid $5.00 for my soup and left. Very cute and clean inside. Lots of parking as they have their own lot. We went for some classics diner food and because we heard they had cool milkshakes. However it was not what we were hoping for. The food were all just OK - the chicken parmigiana 6/10 had a lot of cheese and the chicken was good but their tomato sauce was really lacking and watered down which caused the dish to be lackluster. We got the Belgium waffles with strawberry ice cream and although the ice cream and syrup made it better, the waffles were not up to par being on the harder side in texture/cook. The Mac and cheese tasted like the Kraft boxed Mac and cheese. Their fries albeit not the big steak fries as classic with diners, were pretty good 9/10. The coffee milkshake was amazing 9/10 and I would go back just to get that but only that - it had a perfect blend of coffee and ice cream where one didn't overpower the other and it wasn't very sweet which made it perfect; however the Cinnabons on top were hard and not tasty (tasted like the ones in Costco or bjs). The rainbow cake milkshake 6/10 tasted like chocolate milk and was too sweet and nothing special; however they rainbow cake was redeeming and my kids liked it. The chocolate mousse milkshake and the donut milkshake were all the same and tasted like basic overly sweet chocolate milk; the donuts were horrible but their carrot cake was good (we substituted the chocolate mousse for carrot cake as no one in my family likes chocolate mousse). Overall, we are probably not going back which is disheartening as their servers were friendly, patient, and attentive. read more

What a disappointment! This was one of my rare time out and it was a total disappointment. My breakfast came with 2 eggs, I asked for it poached. When he gave it to me, it was so gross, the egg white was so raw! I asked our server to please cook a little longer. It took forever for her to come back with it, I was almost done eating when she returned with the poached eggs so hard this time that the yellow had turned grey! I think the cook got mad it was under done and decided to be funny and cook it until the egg turned into a rock. Of course I sent it back and just finish eating my breakfast without the eggs. Not the server fault, she was actually very sweet! But the cook was definitely at fault here. I guess if you have any problem with your meal you can't voice it because the cook will get mad and make it worse! Broadway Diner has this waiter with the pretty lashes and she made me the best iced coffee a diner has ever made me! She and the rest of the staff are friendly and warm. They don't try to rush you out when you're done with your food so you can enjoy your meal. The food is always good and it's a nice place to go grab breakfast with your friends, family, organization, etc. Unfortunately, I've only had breakfast from this place so I can't say anything else about the other menu items. The food is always fresh and I've never had a problem eating here. Honestly, if you're on a budget, you can look at their breakfast specials. We've ordered and left there feeling satisfied. Their omelettes are very good and I recommend you try their breakfast skillets. Waffles are great, warm, fluffy, and crispy! I love Benedicts and I really enjoyed the classic. The convenient location just south of the LIE and Northern State Pkwy cannot be beat. The previous look of the Broadway Diner was more traditional with lots of bright chrome & vinyl seated booths and a voluminous menu with typical diner fare. Though the outside hadn't changed much, current management has turned the inside into a roadhouse with darker ceilings and a full bar. The revamped menu is a lot leaner moving towards more BBQ items like pulled pork & ribs, but still with many diner favorites, especially breakfast. They even offer bottomless mimosas for weekend brunch. The pancakes are some of the best I've had with the right combination of fluffiness and chew. I like that the syrup is poured from a sliding spout dispenser on the table instead of a rip open plastic tub. I had to sample the Corned Beef Hash and it is done right from scratch with lots of chunks of corned beef in it, definitely not from a can. My wife loves French Onion Soup and the B'way diner's is the ooziest & cheesiest. Her Texas BBQ Burger was pretty good, but the pulled pork on top wasn't exactly pull-apart-fall-off-the-bone-tender, being on the chewy side but it did come slathered in BBQ sauce and 2 real onion rings. Pleasantly surprised by this diner! One thing to note is that the diner was updated a year or so ago. So, some of the older reviews may not be as relevant anymore. Brunch food was solid - better than other diners in the area. The corned beef hash is homemade and delicious (for those who like corned beef hash). I liked that the hash was cut up in smaller pieces with potatoes and cooked well. Some other places just cut up large cubes of corned beef served with roasted potatoes and to me that isn't "corned beef hash", but I guess that's just a preference. French toast and eggs dishes were solid as well. The space feels updated and new, but still has some booths along the window so that it feels like a diner. I expected it to feel like an old dive-like diner, but luckily it didn't. We came with kids, and they gave us a small pack of crayons with an activity sheet menu for the kids. It was Christmas Day and we were heading back home. Didn't expect to find anything open. I checked Yelp and it said the Broadway Diner was open; we Called to double check. It was. We finally found a diner that got our orders exactly right. The eggs weren't over or way under cooked, the home fries weren't burned or soggy. This place is a gem. Not a good experience. Looked like a nice place for three of us to stop in and grab a bite while on the way somewhere. Grilled chicken in a wrap was dismal: the wrap itself did not taste fresh, chicken portion was tiny and pieces were hard as a rock, and the wrap was so poorly assembled that you could not pick it up and eat it as a wrap because it fell apart. I was sorry that I did not just get a burger but another in our group got a burger and did not enjoy it at all. He ordered it medium and it was dry and tasteless. The last person in our group got eggs and you can't really ruin scrambled eggs, so. It was a very expensive mistake. We should have hit a fast food place. I would not say the service was unfriendly, but would not call it friendly either. It was a very expensive experience and other than some french fries, I was only able to eat about 30% of the small portion of chicken I was served because the rest of it was too hard. Went there with a friend at 9AM Tuesday morning. One other person there. Got coffee right away but coffee went cold as it was freezing in the diner. Asked the waitress to turn down the AC a bit and she gladly accommodated us. We ordered and waited over 20 minutes for French toast for friend, toast and sausage for me. I just left the Broadway Diner in Hicksville. I asked if the tuna was white or chunk light. The waitress said it's white. I said are you sure it's white and not chunk light? She said it was white tuna. It was not. I did not eat it and complained to Pedro the manager. He agreed it was not white tuna. They did not take it off the check. I told him I would not be back. It's a lot worse than I remembered. Just because they redecorated, doesn't mean better experience. Menu shrunk a lot, many of the old menu items which made the place special...gone. Most of the Greek food items gone. Steaks and other high end items. Gone. Strangely place was empty at 7:30pm. Should have listened to my spider sense. Club sandwich was ok, but who can really screw this up? The salmon that ordered med / med rare came out as the worlds thinnest salmon fully cooked thru and broken into pieces. I can only imagine the poor cook trying to cook with the ultra thin slice of salmon. Near impossible. Sent it back and the second version wasn't much better. Totally unsatisfactory. I used to come to this diner before covid and it was always reliable and consistent. We came for breakfast around 10am, it was relatively empty and we were seated immediately. Upon being seated we were given the menus which were not clean and had food residue on them. The waitress didn't come for our drink order for about 15 mins. We placed pur complete order at that time since we didn't know when we might see her again. We had several different omelets, chicken waffles, corned beef with hash French toast. The order took another 15-20mins to arrive. The food quality was average at best, the French toast wasn't fully cooked the batter was still loose in the middle. No one came over to offer more water. First of all, I wanna start off positive by saying the interior of this place is absolutely beautiful and very well done. The counter on the right side along with the old-fashioned seating with a nice view of the road to help you ponder your daily thoughts is a nice touch and on the left side of the diner. High ratings on whatever renovation they did whenever they did it. The service: excellent. She did not make me feel rushed and everything about her and her service from asking me if I wanted coffee even before I sat down to make sure I had it soon all the way through to the end when she brought me the check was absolutely perfect. Now comes to the bad stuff. The food was not great. It's kind of hard to mess up pancakes, so they didn't really do that, but they might've given me dinosaur eggs instead of actual chicken eggs because something was off about them! Can't really put my finger on the taste of the eggs but it just Wasn't good at all. Bacon was paper thin not juicy whatsoever and the ham looked like it might've not been very fresh. When you move to the south then come back to the north there is nothing better than a Long Island Diner. The Broadway Diner did not disappoint. The food came out hot and it was exactly as ordered. Coffee was plentiful. We never had to look for the waitress as she was attentive to our needs. The customer service was awesome. I am huge believer that if the customer service is on point the entire experience makes anything not perfect with the meal acceptable. I used to go to this diner 2-3 per month for dinner. On a Saturday night at 7:15pm there was only 4 tables occupied and the waiter took 15 minutes to come over to our table. I placed my order for skirt steak since it was a dinner special. The waiter told me that they stopped selling steaks because the cost of the meat was too high. I then asked the manager why they didn't take it off of the menu and his answer was: "complain to the owner, I just work here".. I ended up ordering a cheeseburger and swore I would never return. Oh by the way I did write to the owner but of course he never had the decency to write back. I traveled 45 minutes when I live 7 blocks from a diner and could've had the same cheeseburger. Wow! I was shocked to see how they revamped this place! The entire inside is brand new / renovated but it's also been a while since I have been here. Came in for breakfast with my boyfriend and I got the breakfast pancake tacos and he got chicken and waffles. The pancake tacos were huuuge and so delicious. Perfect mix of sweet and savory! My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken and waffles with eggs. I think the dish had some special name to it but he said it was really good.
