This place was absolutely worth the wait We visited on a Friday so it was packed. There was about an hour wait which tells you just how popular this place is. Even though it was busy the restaurant had a lively welcoming atmosphere.Considering how crowded it was the service was great. The staff stayed attentive, and kept everything moving as smoothly as possible.Everything we ordered was delicious. The pastrami sandwich was GOOD!! of course I had to order a hot coffee to go with it. But the real star of the meal was the sour cream coffee cake it was wow 10/10 best one I've had since middle school. We also had the classic breakfast with eggs and hash browns and every bite was cooked perfectly. I honestly found my new favorite diner place Can't wait to try new items
I've heard a lot of good things about Thomas's, so as I was in the area and looking for a place to get breakfast, I decided to check it out. This was on a weekend so the restaurant was very crowded. The parking lot was full, so I had to wait for someone to leave. To my surprise, I didn't have to wait for a table and was seated immediately. I ordered the Stuffed Mixed Berry French Toast. In case you're wondering, it really, really tasted like berries! It was good and very sweet. I would return here for brunch. The price is reasonable and the service was good. The seating is a bit cramped, which is expected for such a popular brunch spot.
It's at the junction of Old Country Road and East Gate Boulevard. My wife had been here before and said the food was good. I'd passed it often before and saw lines out the door with no spots in their parking lot. Fast forward years later, "quite early one morning," we made it to Thomas's by 7:30 A.M., where only one gent was at a counter stool, and only a few tables taken. The music was light rock and we recognized and enjoyed most of the songs. Our waitress immediately ushered us to a corner table with menus. My wife ordered their eggs Benedict (poached over Canadian bacon and an English muffin with Hollandaise sauce), but regretted not substituting sliced tomatoes for the home fries that came with it. I ordered the blueberry pancakes with sugar free syrup. The blueberries were large and plentiful and the pancakes were prepared by an experienced cook (a conclusion based upon my numerous inconsistent attempts to make them correctly for myself). My wife liked their relatively light coffee, but I didn't. Although it was light, which was obvious the moment I added a drop of half-and-half (from those tiny plastic cups), it was bitter. Although she quickly became busy, our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Thomas's was almost packed when we left at 8:00 A.M.
I came here on Sunday 11/23/25 around 10:40 am. The hostess took my name and cell phone number to text me when a seat was available at the counter where I requested to sit. At 11:00, I saw that a seat was available, but she never got around to sending me a text notification, so she apologized. I ordered the following special: cheese grits with bacon (sub bacon for chicken sausage) and fried eggs (sub fried eggs for scrambled). The cheese grits were delicious, but the sausage and the eggs left a lot to be desired. I expected chicken sausage akin to Aidell's, a tasty smoked chicken and apple sausage that I purchase at Costco; and I could have done a better job scrambling the eggs myself because they lacked the creamy, fluffy and savory taste that I crave. I also ordered a Sprite, which was not as bubbly as it could have been. I have read some previous reviews, which state that the restaurant is cash only. They now accept debit and credit cards. Thomas's Ham & Eggery has a lot of hype. I have tried this place four times, and each time the food did not meet my expectations. It is too expensive for what it has to offer, so I will not be back.
I really don't think I could ask for more from a breakfast/brunch spot. They were so accommodating to myself and my family when it came to putting a table together for 7 of us. The menu had so many things on it that I wanted to try, it was hard to choose! We opted to try a few different things. I loved their homemade sausage! Everything was absolutely delicious and we all left full and satisfied. Our server was friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back here!
I was Minus Eleven years of age when Thomas's Ham & Eggery commenced their eggcellent run in 1946. I have been lucky to experience the love, hospitality, generosity, amazing food and fun conversations that can only happen in NY as in naturally becoming best friends with your b fast neighbor on the next chair at the counter; this is my sixth time here since 2000. This diner has stayed consistent: 1) Gorgeous comfort food served in skillets that bring out that big aaaaaah and smile at first glance. 2) fantastic service for servers who are fun and spunky. Ann Marie, just back from her family vacation in Boston today was a hoot. 3) so much warmth from the lovely Greek owners. It was a pleasure seeing and speaking with Pete in Greek today. 4) with that familiar warm nostalgic take me back to the 50s and 60s home vibe. Just like Mom made it and brought it to you. 5) Great size portions . The menu is huge. The specials are wonderful. Love the muffins and the fresh cookies at the counter. Love the support staff. Thank you to Brandon for seating me and also looking after me. See you again in about 4 years! Love it!
I have driven past this place for years and the parking lot has always been filled and lines of waiting customers. They have about 15 spaces. This past week we went at an off time and were able to get a parking spot and a table. That's the good part. Service was friendly and fast. Unfortunately my food was bland. I had a pastrami omelette with home fries, no onions or pepper or any flavor in the potatoes or the omelette for that matter. The portions were good but leftover bland food takes a lot of doctoring. The pancakes were large. It's not a huge menu so I don't think any of us will be returning. Typical diner decor everything was clean. Didn't like the missing ceiling tile in the ladies room but they did actually have hot water.
Stopped in for breakfast during a visit to Long Island for a family function. A small old time classic diner with excellent service and food. This place was established in the 1940's. Large menu serving food all day, 7 days per week. They have all the favorite breakfast, lunch and dinner foods. I had a ham & swiss omelette with home fries, rye toast and coffee. The coffee is good and hot, and servers are constantly refilling your cup. There are too many menu items to list. There is a small parking lot and street parking behind the diner.

There's a reason why you'll always see a line formed outside of this place around breakfast time -- it's because it's that damn good. The vibe of this place is very old school diner. It feels like the decor of this place hasn't changed in decades, but in a good, nostalgic way. On my most recent visit my mom and I were able to be seated immediately, which is honestly a rare treat. I was here because I'd seen their bulgogi eggs benedict special on Instagram and had to have it. My mom decided to go with the pastrami omelet and added swiss cheese and onions to it. Everything about this meal was perfect, per usual. My bulgogi was impeccably marinated, served with crispy home fries. My mom's omelet was cooked just right as well. Highly recommend anything that comes in a skillet here. This place just knows how to do eggs right.
Great as always . But this time, secret is coming early and no crowds and no waiting! But who can come at 7:30 am? Anyway, service was amazing and quick. Food was delish and portion LARGE. Refilled my coffee repeatedly without ever having to ask! Beautiful baked goods. Small parking lot in back, when crowded, which is the norm, would have to park on the street. Most food served on skillet. My frittata so so big, I had to take literally half of it home! Worth the price and delish .

Fast forward to 2026 and its still one of my favorite breakfast spots and they take credit for some time now. Food is always excellent and so is the service. Don't skip on the specials as they have never let me down.
From the line that I've seen outside I assumed I would enjoy my meal but you know what they say about assuming. Got biscuit with chicken sausage hollandaise sauce and the presentation was nice but the food wasn't hot and the potatoes weren't cooked well and the onion in it was raw and huge chunks. This is a one and done for me.
Have been here several times and always awesome! We came here on a late Saturday morning and it was still hopping. There were six of us so we had to wait, about 30 minutes, not too bad. Definitely worth the wait. Once we were seated our waitress came over and took our order. Coffee came out quickly. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered the 2 eggs scrambled with a bagel, my wife ordered the sliders and the rest ordered their meals, I don't recall what they had, all breakfast items. Ore meals came in a little while, they were quite busy as usual. My portion was much larger than I thought it would be. 2 eggs looked more like 3 or 4 and came with home fries, a very large portion. Then my bagel. Wow, all were good and could not finish my meal. We all enjoyed our breakfast with large portions. Thomas's never disappoints! The food is great, always comes out correct, staff are polite and always on top of their game. If you've never been it is a must try. You will be pleasantly pleased! Hope to return soon!
Thomas's is everything that you wish for in a true diner experience. From the minute you walk in, you're greeted by their friendly staff members. The interior gives that nostalgic retro diner feel. On a Saturday afternoon, our wait was about 25-30 mins, but it flew by quickly. Thomas's is beyond generous with their portions from the egg skillets to the pancakes. Prices are extremely reasonable for the portions. And most importantly, everything here is absolutely delicious. My fiance & I ordered two orders of the blueberry pancakes, which was a mistake because of how MASSIVE each order was; we could've easily split one. We also ordered the sides of corned beef hash and ham steak. Highly highly recommend both. The corned beef hash is SO delicious & homemade, and the ham steak is huge! The staff here are really lovely and attentive. Our coffee cups never went empty. Parking is available on site, but incredibly difficult to get a spot. I wouldn't bet on parking here - be prepared to park elsewhere and walk over. Definitely our new go to diner spot! read more

I visited this little diner while in NY, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, and clean interior. We were seated immediately and our server took our orders. I had the croissant French toast, which was incredible. Flaky outside and was and gooey inside. The Irish breakfast came with blood sausage, toast, eggs, beans and ham and tomatoes, it was very filling and flavor packed! Prices were very reasonable, and for that, when I'm in the area again I would definitely stop back in for a hearty meal. read more

We had breakfast on a Friday, and Gina provided the best service! She was amazing and chicky always made sure our coffee cups were filled. Gina recommended the raspberry scone with vanilla icing, which was absolutely delicious! I love the service here. The food is perfection fresh and brought out in under 10 minutes. I came home for my friends retirement. I wanted to come to Thomas's for breakfast. I haven't been here since 1996. I moved to Florida in '98 & have told my wife about this place for years. The food is just as good as it's always been. The service from our waitress was incredible!!!!!!, & the nice man making sure we always had a hot cup of coffee was there. The entire staff had such a friendly good customer service & Interpersonal interaction. Loved seeing my eggs, the beautiful ham steak delicious, sausage's, the home fries as good as ever. I always loved Thomas's there coffee always fresh & delicious. I recommend this place if your in the area & like old school served delicious. Place has been in business since 1946 & going strong!!! If this doesn't tell you about the quality good comfort food nothing will. Great menu of all you're favorite meals. read more

My family's breakfast was horrible. The home fries was burnt. The eggs were dry no seasoning. The pancakes was dry. There was nothing appealing about this breakfast at all my wife omelette. There was no cheese. They gotta get a new cook there home fries the worst were burnt to a crisp who can eat this. read more

Had breakfast here while staying nearby for the weekend. Overall, it was just ok. From the service to the food. It was pretty busy and everything felt rushed. My salmon eggs Benedict was alright, although the hollandaise sauce didn't taste authentic. My husband said his strawberry French toast was delicious. read more
Thomas's is the best plain and simple. the best Homemade Corned Beef Hash in all the land. cannot recommend this enough. the specials are always on point. be sure to take home some muffins. the cappuccino chocolate chip was my favorite but the chocolate cheesecake was also incredible. also take home a sour cream coffee cake. i took this to a family party and everyone was obsessed. i wish i bought a second for myself! cookie dough waffle on special blew my mind as well. the service here is 10/10. always so real and down to earth. you will be treated like family. the best vibes. everything is great here even beyond breakfast! read more

I had a great experience on my first visit to Thomas's Ham & Eggery. When I arrived, there was a bit of a line, but they moved quickly and the wait was very short. I got a great booth seat, and the place has a classic diner feel. The coffee is endless they never let your cup get anywhere near empty. The food was excellent I ordered the chicken and waffles and loved it. I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend it's not just your average diner. read more
I've always seen this place packed to the gillllls whenever I drove by for my Costco runs and decided to come here after a surgical procedure one morning. After a 24h clear diet I was soooooo happy to have gotten to eat here. The moment you step in is a throw back to the old school diners of my childhood and scratches that special nostalgic 90s kid vibe again. Service was attentive and food came out so fast, also free coffee refills were quite on point our entire time there even till the end of the meal-- lemme tell you, this isn't your ordinary diner. This is elevated diner food, quality of the food is what you'd get in a fancy city cafe or restaurant. Everything was so good. I got one of the current specials forgot the name but it's eggs Benedict with home fries (extra crispy ofc) with ham, a slice of cheese over an English muffin and drenched with the perfect hollandaise sauce. My stomach was legit smiling inside. Hubs got an egg sandwich with home fries which he loved as well and a side of corned beef hash which was yummy. I got a banana cream pie to go cuz I was stuffed but knew I had to try one of their desserts and I'm glad I did! It's not too sweet, the perfect amount of sweetness and hits the sweet tooth spot. I definitely need to come back to this place for lunch or dinner one day but only if there isn't an insane line outside. We came here at 830 and it was normally filled but not packed and perfect. read more

We stopped in for breakfast on a normal Friday morning after trying to get in a few times, but the line was always ridiculous. The service could've been better since we waited and waited and waited for someone to take our order and to bring the check. We ended up ordering some pancakes, grits and an omelette. The food was normal dinner food overall, but the grits were blah. Not a place for us, but maybe it is for you. read more
What a cute diner! Its located right off a main street with a small parking lot out front that was full of cars at all times (which is always a good sign though), so your best bet is to park in the residential neighborhood up the street. We had no wait getting a table and the servers are hilarious and hard working. The only downside is the service itself was very very slow. I'd say about 15-20 minutes passed before we ordered, and then when it came time for the check we couldn't get a hold of our waiter so we ended up just bringing it to the front and hoping someone could check us out at the cash register (which is what we ended up doing). We started with a grilled and butter cinnamon roll muffin for the table which was delicious. Perfectly warm and crisp, and a great sweet treat for breakfast. I got the turkey club with no bacon and it was so delicious. Highly recommend. I would totally order this again. Everyone else seemed satisfied with their breakfast meals so it might be tough coming here if you're in a hurry, but on the other hand, it's nice that they're in no rush to kick you out. :) read more
My favorite diner since I was a kid! I love this place. Everytime you walk in it's the vibe you get like you're at home. All the staff has been working here forever, which is how you know it's good. They greet you, they ask about your family, it's so personal. Their food is phenomenal. The egg skillets are what they're famous for but their weekly specials are really the best. I'm a sweet tooth lover so I always go for one of their French toasts, pancakes or waffles. 10/10 recommended!! read more
Heard rave reviews but didn't match up to the ones I read. The food was very bland. The potato pancakes were half cooked - and had no taste. Asked fro well done hash browns they were barely fried potatoes slices. The inside is cute like a typical diner from years back. The service was good - sadly I just wish the food was better. Thomas's ham & Eggery is small but very mighty! This place is a must especially if you love a traditional breakfast cooked to perfection! We did have a 10 minute wait but it was totally worth it.The inside is fun has an old school diner feel & the service was amazing we put in our drink order within 3 minutes of sitting down! Our waitress was a really nice blonde lady with a very cute ST.Patrick's day outfit & she gave us some great recommendations as well. The food (pic below)came out pretty quick it was hot and delish! I loved the throwback vibe of the diner. The music playing was filled with the top Billboard hits of the '60s and '70s. Even though it was a busy place, the service was terrific. Now, onto the star of the show: the food. We had a vegetable frittata that was absolutely perfect; it was served in a large skillet, making each bite memorable. Additionally, we had blueberry pancakes that were light and fluffy. I can't wait to return! read more

Cute little diner with a small parking lot, but there is neighborhood street parking nearby. The inside is typical old school with a lot of curved metal accents, big bakery display, and countertops and stools for quick meals. First, I think it's an adorable name, so I had to get some eggs at the eggery. The eggs are served with home fries and a meat (in my case, bacon) all together in a little skillet pile. It was a hearty meal and the presentation was cute. We also shared the more dessert-like stuffed berry French toast - with cream cheese, mascarpone, and mixed berries. It was so sweet and indulgent with that creamy center, and the berries made it healthy (I think). Service was good, and they had some really nice-looking goodies to go. It's a solid breakfast option. read more
The BEST fried chicken and fries you will EVER consume. Social media had me running here . Upon arrival , it was BUSYYYY but lines move very fast. I grabbed a menu, by the takeout section and was helped by Alec immediately . He was very kind and a pleasure to talk with while ordering. I ordered the fry chicken meal and a chilli . If you ever pass by here on your way to either Target, Costco, Roosevelt Field Mall, or anywhere else in the neighborhood on a weekend morning, you probably saw people waiting in the vestibule or even outside. If you Yelp breakfast or brunch when you're in the area, this is the place that comes up near the top. This place gets jammed packed for breakfast/brunch, but question, is it really worth the wait/hype?It's a small diner at the intersection of East Gate Blvd/Mitchell Ave and Old Country Road, across the street from Shake Shake. It is an old school diner with old school vibes - some counter seating, small booths with some friendly/smiling stafff. You walk in, tell the hostess how many people are in your party, and if you're there after 7:30am, you're probably going to have to wait 5-10 mins. If it's after 9am, then good luck to you. Food wise, is it better than other diners? Maybe some in the area, but in my opinion, it's not something I would go out of my way for nor wait 30 mins for. read more
