Elvis Little Richard, The Amazing Carl Perkins,Johnny Cash and the Beatles. The Music Rocked and was Awesome I came back to Omega just for a snack and we were able to have the Fabulous Naomi as our waitress. My friend Robert ordered a Banana Spit Sundae. And like Oni, Naomi made it to perfection. I asked Naomi if I should order the Turkey dinner or anything Eggs Benedict, She brought me the Eggs Benedict and a wonderful salad. OD is the neighborhood diner, and it is trustworthy. However, my last visit was not satisfactory. We went before dinner, I ordered an egg salad platter, I only ate the potato salad, ( good), but the boiled egg looked like old and the platter had a smell of eggs. It's kind of a 3 and 1/2 . I ordered my favorite salad- strawberry fields to go. The strawberries, lettuce, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, romaine lettuce all fresh and beautiful. The " toasted almonds" were all literally burned black, half to fully black. And because they were so badly burned, they were bitter. Ruined the entire salad. I got the Spinach Pie special with comes with a wonderful Greek salad and soup. Both were flavorful, Rich and had creamy sauce. Several hours later I can still taste the buttery blend. My sister and I had breakfast at the Omega Dinner after a doctor's appointment two weeks ago. The waiter was ok in the beginning... but that didn't last long. We asked for one decaf coffee and two waters. He returned to our table with one water and two coffees. (Only my sister drinks coffee.) This is when our waiter starts being lest pleasant. He was adamant that we ordered two cups of coffee. We assured him that we only ordered one cup of coffee... he walked away in a bit of a huff as he took one of coffees away. I had a few questions about menu, because I'm a vegetarian. I asked what type of oil were the fries cooked in. He looked as if I had no right/reason to ask a question... After a few other questions, we asked for a few more minutes. He walked away, rolling his eyes. We should have left the dinner then! My sister is diabetic and needed to eat... I ordered the brioche french toast. It had no flavor at all. It was a giant piece of fried bread. Our waiter brought out as small, open container of butter before the my meal. The butter had crumbs in it, as if someone used the butter for their toast!!! I told the waiter that I would like individual wrapped servings of butter like the couple across from us. Well, the waiter huffed off, without an apology mind you, and returned with the wrapped butters. This waiter never once asked how the food was or if there was anything he could do for us once our food was delivered. I did not leave a tip!!! That was such a disappointing experience. read more

A definite must order. For mains, we had chicken souvlaki, a Belgian waffle, and an eggplant parm panini, with well done fries. Again, all dishes arrived hot, and were delicious, even though the fries were not well done as requested. Another item to order is the chocolate fudge cake. (They have two different chocolate cakes so make sure you ask for the dark fudge one). Sometimes I go there and pick up a few slices to go. It's beyond incredible. Lastly, your experience may vary based upon your server. Unfortunately, I have been to this diner, and had less than stellar service, which of course affects your overall experience. read more

First Impressions - nostalgia. This place reminds me of all the late night diners I would eat at after a long night out during my college day. We came here on a Sunday for brunch after my husband got off work, so we were surrounded by the post-church crowd as well as the Sunday brunch old couples who eat here regularly. Sanjay and I spoke about how we would love to create a tradition of eating here until we are both old and grey like the couple at the diner eating at the bar. Except we promised we would continue to talk (the couple sat in comfortable silence watching TV) The Noms - normal diner food... eggs, bacon, home fries, pancakes... the usual. Nothing special or anything... just your typical HUGE menu of diner food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was the ambiance and the nostaglia that does it for me. Did not politely ask us to finish up as he needed the table but instead came around said "ladies we need this table" then had his cleaners come over start cleaning the table as we were still at it and brought a couple to sit there as we were just getting up. The menu is huge and there is something for everyone. The greek chicken plate / salad is the best I've ever had -- with juicy (not dry or overcooked) chicken! My kids loved the pancakes and waffles. Crispy bread, melted mozzarella, bed of spinach and that moist and juicy chicken on top. A definite must have when you're here. We also had the pancakes served with ham, bacon, sausage and egg. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, I smothered it with whipped butter and syrup and I was hooked! I'm sort of a pancake snob and these pancakes rank pretty high on my pancake scale :) Nice size parking lot, clean interior with partitions set up between most tables. A nice menu with lots of options and variety. Overall, an amazing diner offering great food and service all around. I found this place yesterday after a doctors appt. I had nearby. Decided to look up Diners near me & this was one of the top choices. I love the service. My food took a little bit long to come out but my waiter Sal (patient and kind) reassured me that the chefs got my order correctly since it was added items to their usual orders that come as numbers. My mother enjoyed her eggs, home fries and toast. The atmosphere was a bit on the elderly side but that didn't matter at all! The customers were even nice to me in the bathroom. I'm from Queens and it was my first time eating in a diner in New Hyde Park, definitely made me wanna go there again and have different dishes. I enjoyed my waffle fries with my grilled chicken with well done bacon,cheddar cheese & tomato.
