I've always passed by Cafe Baci and my little brother has been hyping it up, so I went with our family and visitors. The parking situation was not too bad on early evening during the weekday, but I could totally see it get out of hand on the weekends, so plan accordingly. We were sat right away and the lovely server dropped a basket of bread while we peered through the menu. The free bread is quite good. We were all starving, so the cheesy chewy bread was great to munch on. I am also much more forgiving about a bit of wait for food if there is free bread being offered. It was also nice because we were seated right by the kitchen window, so it was like getting a dinner and a show. We got the Saporite, which reminded me of a Costco chicken bake with its creamy innards punctuated by grilled chicken. This is my brothers favorite, and I could see why. We also had the spaghetti seafood, which was so richly flavored with the seafood. I'm not sure I ever had Italian pasta so full of that umami seafood flavor. Truly wow. The ravioli verde was something we got to add something not-tomato based & it was an excellent choice. The sauce was verdant and creamy. The ravioli filling didn't feel like straight ricotta but I liked whatever they had done to it! The chicken parm was also a solid choice, good breading on hefty cutlets of chicken and a nice helping of charred cheese on top. We liked every single dish, and the portions were more than enough to feed all of us and leave leftover for the next day. I was especially touched by the professionalism of the young servers during what was becoming an increasingly crowded dinner service. We got extra bread, waters filled, and to go boxes promptly. The hype was surprisingly real. I guess I should not be surprised that a place that's been around since my childhood has withstood the test of time because it was good. Updated review long overdue. Last three times I visited... i had planned on updating this review; however, always forgot until now. Food 2/5 very overpriced for not so great quality. Portions are fairly still large if the food tastes bad... it takes a lot of effort in eating it. Service 2/5 workers are young i guess if that is a pro... but lacks common basics... too busy talking amongst each other and talking negatively about the job. Ambiance hasn't changed for years. The food is great but the service, especially from the manager, is awful, and with so many other great Italian restaurants on Long Island, I won't be supporting Cafe Baci again. Placed a to-go order on Friday, April 3 at 6pm and told it would be ready at 6:30pm. We get there a few minutes after 6:30pm and the hostess says "just a few more minutes." 18 mins later, still no food so asked to speak with the manager for an update. She was beyond rude and pretty much said just wait. Service recovery is everything - offering me an iced tea or bread while I waited in their small waiting area would have been low to no cost to them and made the customer feel valued. Instead, around 7pm, the female manager finally brings my food over - 30 mins after promise time - and was even more nasty with a beyond sarcastic "sorry for the wait." Managers should set the example. This one sets all the wrong examples and makes the Cafe Baci experience not pleasent. Besides the food being ready 30 minutes later, or one hour after ordering, and it was not a large order. read more

Our first time here and location was good so was the inside decor. The service wasn't bad either, however, the food was a bit on the saucy side. It was swimming in its sauce. The veal marsala was overpowered by its sauce and quite frankly, the veal didn't really taste like Veal. The vodka sauce gnocchi was okay only for the breaded chicken. The gnocchi should have been softer, but I feel that it was probably frozen gnocchi that was de-frosted. It would have been nice to have more options because most of the items all had tomato sauce of some sort. A suggestion would be to have more food options that don't require tomato sauce for those that probably can't have it. But that's just my suggestion. read more

Always a treat coming here. We started off with fried calamari, which was crispy but could be seasoned more. For drinks, we had an iced tea and a cappuccino. The iced tea was just regular Lipton stuff nothing unique. For the main courses, we ordered the fettuccine primavera and the penne fussi, both dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, and most importantly, the portions were very generous. Definitely the kind of place where you don't leave hungry. I had the fussi upgraded with pesto cream which is a winner! Of course, we had to try dessert, so we went with the tiramisu and napoleon. They were on point not too sweet. Yes, like many places these days, things have gotten a bit pricey, but the portion sizes really help justify it. You're definitely getting good value for what you pay. One thing to note: they offer about a 3% discount if you pay with cash, which is a nice little bonus. For well over 20 years, I've been going to Café Baci, and the food has always been consistently delicious. Since I've been under the weather, we decided to order takeout today. Joe, who answered the phone, was professional and very courteous. My husband picked up the order and didn't have to wait at all--the food was ready when he arrived and was still hot when he brought it home. They even included pizza bread and cheese, which was a very nice touch. As always, the food was delicious and full of flavor. I also noticed today that the dine-in menu prices are lower than the takeout menu (for example, the penne caprese is $4 more and the seafood spaghetti is $10 more for takeout). Given the current situation, it's still quite reasonable. We usually dine in, except during the height of the pandemic, so I hadn't realized the difference before. My husband forgot to bring cash, so he paid by credit card and the total was a little over $2 more due to the card fee, which is very reasonable. They are very transparent and clearly let customers know the difference between cash and credit card pricing. After all these years, Café Baci remains one of our dependable restaurants. The food is consistently delicious, the service is friendly, and the staff always makes the experience pleasant. It's not easy for a restaurant to maintain this level of quality and service for so long, and Café Baci has done it wonderfully. We always enjoy coming back. read more

Cafe Baci is a staple. If you come on a Friday/Sat past 5:30 expect at least a 30 min wait. Portions are large, food is tasty and service is efficient but friendly. I was able to snag a seat at the bar and had a cocktail while I waited. We went with the calamari for an appetizer penne alfredo and the cafe baci which is seafood with pasta lobster tail, clams, shrimp and mussels in a red sauce. The food here was amazing! For starters, the cheesy bread was piping hot and was so delicious that it was hard to not finish the basket. We had no willpower, we emptied the basket, every last crumb! My colleague and I shared a pear salad. It was a large serving. Even though we each took half, it was like we had our own order. I ordered the Baci Fra Diavolo with shrimp. The portion size was huge and the shrimp were enormous! I really loved the spicy red sauce. I ate half and had the remainder for dinner later that evening. My colleague ordered the Tortellini Amore. The pizza garlic bread they served was drool worthy, I had to have more. We ordered the mussels in white wine sauce which was always a hit! I wanted to like it, I really did. To start, they didn't have any A/C today, on the hottest day of the year (6/24/25). Yes, that is on us for choosing to stay. My stepdad ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri, and we were charged what appeared to be the price of a regular daiquiri. Prior to ordering I asked our waitress how much of an up-charge it would be to have chicken vodka parm instead of the regular chicken parm. She said it would be $5. I went ahead and ordered it, and it ended up coming out the regular way, and not how I ordered it. It took over 20 minutes for them to cook my dish the way I ordered it. That is extremely unreasonable. There were only two other tables and some people at the bar. We also continued to hear the chefs and other workers talk about my dish as it's a semi-open kitchen. Very unprofessional. Even after my dish came out wrong, our waitress never really came back. When she did all she said was "the kitchen is remaking your food." The manager never came over either. My stepdad ordered chicken Marsala and my fiancé ordered Mamma Mia which consisted of a meatball, lasagna and chicken parm. While they both enjoyed their food, it was unsettling that we were out for a family meal, and we weren't able to really eat our meals together. Our waitress said she only charged us "half" of the upcharge for the vodka sauce, but the bill still showed $5. When we asked she told us the upcharge is $8. But originally before we ordered she told us the upcharge was $5. $8 for a vodka sauce upcharge is absurd! I wouldn't return. The entire situation was handled very poorly. read more

Again warmly welcomed us and patiently waited for us to place our food order after delivering our drinks ( graciously gave us time to catch up first). Although it was a lunch special the dishes were all well portioned and reasonably priced from $18-24 dollars. Lunch topped off with coffee and cappuccinos. Throughout our time Kaitlyn maintained a warm, friendly yet professional demeanor, constantly checking in. A true asset to the establishment. Overall a warm, welcoming restaurant offering excellent client service along with outstanding food. There's a full bar when you enter with bar seating along with plenty of dining tables. One note it is difficult making a left turn off Old Country into the parking lot but it's easier making a right into the lot off Merrick Ave ( coming south on Post Ave). Nice atmosphere with lots of large side windows and even one on the roof through which we saw blue sky and white clouds. "Meatloaf" sang about how "two out of three ain't bad" and that's what happened with us. I modified their Scampi Portofino by deleting the chicken in favor of additional jumbo shrimp and it worked out perfectly - just delicious! Made it a traditional shrimp scampi over linguine, but they added a nice touch of over a dozen sliced grape tomatoes. I told the waiter that I appreciated the accommodation. My son enjoyed their cheese filled tortellini in what looked and tasted like a vodka sauce (though l never had one that actually contained vodka). My wife ordered the Salmon Salad, which the menu said came with "[b]roiled salmon, arugula, romaine lettuce, endive ...." However, there was no romaine lettuce, only a couple of endives and the rest was bitter arugula. However the salmon was good. read more

This relaxed good staple of an Italian restaurant has been in Westbury for quite sometime and did not disappoint.It wasn't busy which made for a very nice atmosphere. The easy listening music playing was just right. The focaccia bread pieces were very good and perfect for soaking up the delicious clam sauce from some very tasty baked clams.Service was attentive and even though the wait for our good well portioned pasta entrees and salad meals was a bit longer than expected they were all worth the wait.The delicious Lasagna entree I had was rather large as was my son's Chicken Francese which we both could not finish. Cafe Baci is hands down one of my favorite Italian restaurants on Long Island. Cafe Baci is located in Garden city. It has its own parking lot. While the restaurant can be super busy, I've never had an issue finding parking. When you walk in, you are greeted by the amazing staff. It was a busy Friday night so we had to wait a little for a table. We weren't waiting long though and was promptly sat. The restaurant is cozy and has a home vibe to it. You can tell regulars frequent this restaurant due to its popularity. The menu is extensive but everything I have ordered off the menu is delicious. For that nights dinner, I ordered the chicken Francese, the red sangria, the calamari and the swordfish. Each dish came out relatively quick and had so much flavorful. The portions were large and I had dinner for the next day. The restaurant is great for any type of gathering you are planning and spacious enough to hold multiple people. The staff is always very nice and attentive, and it's always a great time with relaxed vibes whenever I dine here with my family. Their Calamari is really delicious and has the perfect level of chewiness. My favorite dishes are the Tortelloni Amore and their Lasagna. Both are very simple dishes that are comfort food for me and they're always just what I need whenever I visit. Cafe Baci is also one of my favorite spots because it serves one of my absolute favorite desserts - tartufo! We came right when they opened on Father's Day and were thankfully seated immediately but it definitely got packed quick. It was kind of like focaccia bread with some tomato sauce. Warm, airy, and flavorful. Just needed some garlic. For appetizers, we got the caesar salad, parmesan fries, and fried calamari. Caesar salad and parmesan fries were loaded with cheese (a tad much) The Caesar salad had both the sliced parm as well as the grated parm so it was a little salty but refreshing. The fried calamari was perfectly fried, still had tender calamari pieces inside and very lightly breaded on the outside. My only wish was for some leg pieces cause those are my favorite. For entrees, we got an assortment of pastas and flatbreads. Everything was delicious, I had no complaints for any of them. Portions were huge and I love that they really sauce up the pasta (the more sauce the better in my opinion). The Mamma Mia platter is great for indecisive people like me who love to try a variety of different things. It had 3 of my favorites - meatballs, lasagna and chicken parm. We ended our meal with a cappuccino and slice of tiramisu. If you like tiramisus that are heavy on the cream, then you'll love this one.
