To be fair in a restaurant review, you have to value the whole experience that includes the food the ambience and the cost. For an appetizer I had the ravioli in broth. It was OK. It was meat ravioli, and they were very small and petite. The broth was piping hot and lacked a little flavor. I added pepper and grated cheese, which helped it a lot. The waiter recommended their zingarra chicken. And my partner had ravioli which is their specialty my partner is a ravioli aficionado and she didn't take the leftovers home which really told me something. The chicken I had was delightful hot tasty delicious and no real complaints here. I ordered a soda. It was four dollars and no free refills, quite disappointing All in all the food was at four but then I got the bill for a broth soup two entrées and a soda it was $105. Clearly this is why people can't go out for dinner anymore $105 for 10 raviolis and a chicken breast wow I thought food cost had to be 1/3 of the price $34 for a chicken cutlet that chicken cutlet wasn't $10. Came here my second time, this time for my dad's birthday dinner on a Thursday night. The ambience was great during dinner, with each table having a small candle. All the food was delicious, from the complimentary bread to their homemade Ravioli. We ordered the Clams Oreganata, Pan Fried Calamari, Pollo Zingarella which comes with a choice of Pasta or Broccoli, Lobster Ravioli, Meat Ravioli, and Duck Ravioli. The manager mentioned that the Pollo Zingarella and the Duck Ravioli were their best dishes. I definitely agree with the Pollo Zingarella, especially when you drench it with the sauce since it elicits a very creamy and rich mushroom and chicken flavor. However, I really enjoyed the Lobster Ravioli since it had a unique sweet and seafood flavor which stood out from the rest. The Duck Ravioli had a subtle gaminess and paired well with the Alfredo sauce. The Meat Ravioli and Fried Calamari both tasted basic but still great. My only gripe is that it's incredibly hard to hear in the restaurant and literally all the servers were annoyed that we were asking them to repeat what they said, which I feel they should be more understanding being in the restaurant and service business. Also, never did I feel so pressured in ordering drinks and dessert from a restaurant before. Hopefully this doesn't deter you from trying their food. read more

8/10/24. Arrived around 6pm on a Saturday night and decided to chance it without a reservation. When we walked in the owner/manager said he could not accommodate us because they had reservations. His response was rather dismissive. However, we asked to sit outside which was no problem. Rather odd the offer to sit outside wasn't suggested by the owner. We shared the hot antipasto for two. And for entrées, we had the chicken zingarella (side of pasta with bolognese sauce) and the veal bolognese. Based on our previous visits, we requested our food to be extra hot. I believe our server's name was Amy and she delivered. She was very intentive as well as Jacob, the busboy. The owner did approach our table (as well as others) to make sure everything was going well. Food 5 stars. The food is absolutely delicious. Service 4 stars. Ambience 4 stars. A hidden gem in Mineola! Italian might be my favorite cuisine and I love trying local restaurants. I'm glad I saw the sign when I drove by one day. It reminded me of the Piccolo Cafe I once went to in New Jersey but it's nothing like that! This restaurant has lunch specials and is closed for a short period of time and then reopens for dinner. The parking lot is kind of small but you should be able to find parking behind the restaurant or on the street perpendicular to Jericho Turnpike. The interior of the restaurant is smaller than I expected too so be sure to make reservations! Unfortunately, there is no online system so make that call! The restaurant has a small quiet seating area with more sunlight right upon entry and a larger seating area inside as well as a bar table. I actually really liked the small quiet seating area as it was brighter and more private. The complimentary bread with dip was amazing! I can't wait to come back for more haha. There is a good variety of cocktails, white and red wine. I personally prefer cocktails or cocktails so I was happy with the choices. Then, I shared a fried Calamari and baked Clams appetizer. The fried Calamari is a bit airy than I like with a tad too much batter. But the light flavor went well with the sauce and it was good. The baked Clams were phenomenal! Perfectly cooked with butter and topped with a lemon squeeze. As for entree, we got what they are famous for - house made ravioli's! Their ravioli's are on the smaller size so don't freak out when they say one order comes with about 15 pieces. It was a perfect portion to share. I tried the unique duck as well as the lobster meat. Both were delicious! I can't wait to go back to try other meats and sauces. For dessert, the tiramisu looked absolutely stunning but I was full and wanted something lighter or something frozen. Unfortunately, they were sold out of the Oreo Ice-Cream cake but they recommended a different off the menu dessert which was a small cup of rum infused cream with almond crumbs on top and it was delicious! Recently came in after a loooooong hiatus with beau and his immediate family and my immediate family to celebrate our engagement because my dad was in from out of town and this was middle ground for all. Everyone enjoyed their meals thoroughly and water service was definitely not lacking. Superior service by far. Inside reminds me of your typical cute Italian restaurant. I only wish that the parking situation was a little bit better but thankfully we were able to score a spot in the lot. Will we be back? Yes. january 17, 2026 at 3:00 pm .... to start off the place was empty and i was told i had to make reservations when i entered to see if you were open ....the restaurant was emplty....... what was that about why did i need to make reservations when no one came in at all the 2 hours we were there. the whole unpleasant experience while we were there, there was only one other table of 3 people; 2 grandparents and their grandson and my table of 4 my sister and myself and my 2 beautiful grandbabies and guess what... no one came in with reservations the whole time....why was that... one waitress said we did not need reservations but the waiter jumped in and said we do need reservations.. ? what was that about.... still no one even came in with reservations the whole 2 hours we were there. #1 we were very very very disappointed since you state on the top of your menu that you cater to allergies and to advise , of which we did yet even though when i mentioned this we were not accommodated with our allergies and still served food for example we asked for the tomatoes with mozzarella and no balsamic vinager of which my sister is extremely allergic too which could have god forbid ended very badly. with no acknowledgment or respect of the allergies and and to top it off i still paid over $200.00 and a tip even though he was a smart ass for meals that we did not order or like but got only what you wanted to serve and was totally unsatisfyed with it all because we did not order what we asked for..... note: i was afraid to return and send back the order of what we did not ask for, for fear that we would have most definitely received a dish with spit in it instead.,,, this was a very disappointing dinner experience of which i never experienced which truly sucked and we will never recommend or come back to this disgusting establishment. #2 the food i ordered was not what we asked for. i asked for the shrimp scampi with the buttersauce under the appetizer instead i was served with the chared shrimp scampi (yuk) on the menu brcause you wanted to charge the higher price instead (very sneaky move) of making my family feel welcomed and comfortable with our choice of food we was paying for because we deserved a good meal of which we did not receive,,, my grandchildren did'nt like the food either...i had the food packed to bring home which i should have just left it... the trays were packed very carelessly since it all leaked out on everything... this was on sunday january 18th at 3:00 pm and i can't imagine the disgust of what was put in front of me and was not what i ordered... my grandbabies deserved a better meal with me since we don't do this often and now my poor grandchildren did'nt even enjoy the service or the food... i sadly rated you "1 star" even though you did'nt even derserve that one star..... i wanted to put "minus 1 star" instead (0) zero....well never the less we will never return nor will i ever recommend your restaurant since my experience was very unenjoyable and the price of the bill was ridiculous because it definitely was not worth it all. if i could throw up my food i would return it!!!!!!!! read more

Lovely interior, feels very welcoming, like a place where you would enjoy a good meal and good conversation with family and close friends. The olive oil with the appetizer bread was absolutely delicious - the olive oil had a somewhat vinegary taste, and you could taste hints of capers as well (our server overheard us wondering aloud and confirmed this). My friend and I liked that the arugula with goat cheese salad was chopped up and mixed and therefore easy to eat. We also agreed that there were generous amounts of goat cheese (what I was craving most when I eyed the salad on the menu). My biggest critique about the food is about the salad itself: while delicious, it was quite salty and on the smaller side (guess I'm used to larger portions - so...maybe smaller is actually better...healthy portion sizes!). Also, if it had been chillier (we went on a cool summer evening - still warm enough for a sleeveless dress!), then I would have preferred that my soup were a bit hotter. I don't recall feeling the heat from the bowl. My friend and I felt so comfortable chatting away here that we did not realize we shut down the place - literally, as we decided to take turns using the restroom before heading out, we noticed it was just us left plus 2 employees. A true hidden gem that has been serving authentic Italian food for over 30 plus years in Mineola. With Robert Sr. and another son taking care of FOH and service, while Robert Jr. is now the executive chef manning the kitchen and still making the recipes his father developed all those years ago while bringing his own flare to the menu. MUST order, if nothing else, are their raviolis! Not just made in house, but made by hand and not hand cranked out through a machine. The ravioli dough is rolled out really thin so no chance of doughy raviolis here which makes the filling shine! Started with a half and half order of the Duck ravioli and their gorgonzola apple ravioli in a triple sec cream sauce and it was put of this world! Baked clams oreganato were super fresh tasting and their veal casalinga was a really nice change from the usual marsala and lemon sauce variety. Great authentic Italian spot. First, the pesto sauce that comes with the focaccia bread is to die for! Wish I could've taken some home. The homemade ravioli is great here and I highly recommend the lobster ravioli! It comes in a delicious cream sauce with real chunks of lobster meat here and there, and the ravioli is stuffed with shredded lobster meat. The service was great and the waiters were very attentive. Took away one star because my water glass was not washed properly and had fresh pink lipstick stains all over the rim of the glass. My husband and I went for dinner last night. We've been wanting to try this for place for a while based on the yelp reviews. It's a comfortable, welcoming place. We started with cocktails and then went straight to the entrees. My husband had eggplant and angel hair pasta. He's very picky about eggplant, but this passed his test. He loved it! I asked for a dish with no garlic, but pretty much all their homemade ravioli has garlic. I love garlic but it doesn't love me. They actually made a sauce for me with tomatoes, onions and prosciutto. I couldn't believe how absolutely delicious it was.! The ravioli are so light they could float away. What an amazing dish. The chef made a mouse cake which my husband ordered and he loved it. Came here last night for my friends birthday dinner and my expectations were surpassed. I had previously been here a few years ago for a work holiday party, and I wasn't impressed with the food. However, last night, everything was much better. We were a party of five and seated at a table that was more for four. It was definitely a little cramped which was annoying, but we managed. For appetizers, we ordered the hot antipasto and the tomato mozzarella salad. Everything was good except for the shrimp that came in the hot antipasto platter. Had a funny taste to it that we couldn't quite put our finger on. I really enjoyed the eggplant rollatini and thought that it had the perfect amount of cheese. For entree, I ordered the chicken milanese that is topped with the arugula goat cheese salad, however, I swapped goat cheese for mozzarella. My husband had tilapia, my brother in law had veal Bolognese, my friend/his gf had the penne vodka and my cousin had the chicken bruschetta. The one thing I noticed right away which I appreciated was that the portions weren't huge. I felt like they were an appropriate size to fill you, or even have leftovers, while not being stuffed. We all enjoyed our selections. I found my chicken dish to hit all the right notes but I do wish it had some type of saltiness to it-maybe shaved Parmesan or something like that. Regardless, it was still very good. I tried my friends penne vodka and it was good but very garlicky for my preference. It is different from most vodka sauces which was interesting. For dessert, we ordered the raspberry cheesecake and the rainbow cookie sundae. Both were delicious and the rainbow cookie sundae was perfect and they give you a lot. We just held my friends bridal shower here and it was great! The food was delicious and the service was phenomenal. The restaurant is small but was perfect for our party of 40 and they have a smaller dining area in the front of the building for separate parties. My sister in law and I hung around at the bar afterwards and the owners son, Robert was a doll. He was insightful when it came to the menu and was attentive when ordering food or drinks. Duck is back in season and the fall flavors in stock. Today I'm picking up a lb of duck and a pound of spinach. Went here on national ravioli day after googling "best raviolis near me." My opinion, the food was on point!! The bread they bring out for you didn't last long! Delish. Had an old fashion which was made just right! I ordered the duck raviolis and my wife had to tell Me to slow down... and the sauce that it was in mmmm. Wipe it all up with some bread. She had the meat ravioli, but was only able to eat half of it because I stole her plate halfway through. Wiped all that up with some bread. Nice quaint mom and pop feel tasty restaurant. What a delicious and unexpected surprise! I visited Piccolo's after a recommendation from the bridal salon across the street. It was the perfect meal after selecting my wedding dress. To start, we were given fresh focaccia bread with an oil and herb spread that was so tasty you would want to bathe in it. Made with parsley, capers, dijon mustard and a few other special ingredients, I would say the trip here is worth it even just to try this dip. For dinner, we ordered the chicken zingarella, 4 cheese ravioli and the mushroom ravioli. The chicken was great, really different than anything I've ever tried and my favorite ravioli was the 4 cheese. I also greatly enjoyed the vodka sauce that came over the mushroom ravioli too. For dessert, we had the rainbow cookies although the way the server spoke about the raspberry cheesecake made it hard to choose one dessert... We also had two attentive and polite servers who also helped create a fantastic dining experience. I can't wait to bring my friends to this restaurant to try some new menu items. read more

They have about 15-20 different types! All of the flavors I've tried are awesome! This particular time I went, was for my birthday. They put hot bread on the table with their homemade pesto (that you can also buy), it's so garlicy and delish. We ordered the Caesar salad and the pumpkin raviolis in triple sec cream sauce with walnuts and raisins. TO DIE FOR. The triple sec cream sauce is one of the best sauces I've tasted in my life. For my entree, I ordered the chicken zingarella. Also amazing. Two breaded chicken cutlets, pounded thin, stuffed with mozz and prosciutto in a pink sauce. Nice, local place with a following. Warm ambiance, comfortable. All male servers, from what we observed, were gracious and attentive. I would call Piccolo's "Italian American" cuisine. It is not "authentic Italian" like the food you would find in Italy. The food was hearty, and portions were big--pasta was double a normal portion, and enough for a doggy bag. The pasta was cooked al dente and not overloaded with sauce. Side order of meatballs contained two very large meatballs When the menu misspells the names of Italian dishes, it may indicate that no Italians from Italy run the place. Another clue: the "crust" on the salmon contains cheese (in Italy, cheese with fish is a no-no). The bread basket was a little skimpy, not homemade. There may be some gems on this menu, but our meals weren't particularly notable, except for the portion sizes. We were allowed to linger and didn't feel rushed. read more

After enjoying a great dinner and service previously at this restaurant, I suggested to a group of friends that we meet for dinner at this location. Prior to heading out to dinner, I read a recent review that stated that the Chicken dishes seemed to be rubbery. When seated, I spoke to Rob, one of the owners, who stated some of his loyal customers brought it to his attention and he immediately started buying only organic chicken. Well time for the taste test! .......First we ordered for the table their Homemade Ravioli's which was wonderful. Then for entrée's, I ordered the Chicken Zingarella which was as good as advertised. Loved it!! Other dishes that came to the table were quite interesting along with other variations of Chicken dishes with pasta which were all very good. No worries here.
