Amazing experience at this place! My friends and I went for lunch and were blown away at the variety of stuff they offer. So many delicious baked goods and the coffee is how you wished your home-made coffee tasted. I got an iced lavender vanilla latte and my friends got a cappuccino and drip that were delicious. I was told to go here for the best pastries in Phoenix and I was not disappointed! I enjoyed my fill of coffee and pastries, along with some biscuits and gravy. The space is great for hanging out, working on projects, or just relaxing. It's very open, and airy, with a back shaded deck when the weather is willing to cooperate. I found a nice corner table with a built in bench and relaxed unbothered for the better part of an hour. From everything I saw (and tasted), the pastries seemed to be the play here. Late breakfast on a Saturday morning. Order at the counter and then find a spot. Be prepared to wait for a bit. Both times I have been there has been a line. It does move quickly. I decided on the biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns. So good! The biscuits and gravy is pretty unique. The biscuit sits in a bowl of gravy with the egg on top. The biscuit is flaky and moist. The gravy is not too heavy, but full of flavor. Hash browns were crunchy - just how i like them. Love the place, would return. N*joy! read more

I come here often as it's close by, and they offer good coffee and pastries, but today I was very disappointed. One of their specials for the day was the monte cristo, and it is a guilty pleasure of mine. I got my drink, which was good as usual, but the meal was frankly not good. It wasn't bad, but it was very dry and while I was eating it, I noticed the base was their ham and cheese croissant they already sell as part of their pastries. I don't mind if they double dip by using some pastries as ingredients, but the croissant was clearly burnt on the top and bottom, it was so dry it made me think it was a day old, and it was just not good. Please don't offer this item again, or at least don't use the ham and cheese croissants as a base. read more

WOW holy gem of a hole in the wall! I cannot believe I haven't been here before! They had the most delicious and tasteful menu, from Cuban pulled pork sandwiches to decadent goat cheese quiches, a delicious egg duck confit cast iron yummy goodness, and a killer breakfast sandwich!! Literally everything we ate was amazing. Cannot say more than that! This is such a cute place to come for breakfast or brunch. I would bring anyone here for a yummy adult cocktail or their exquisite menu of coffees like a banana bread lattes.... to the amazing pecan pies and coffee cakes. Updating my review. All I can say is that this is one of my favorite breakfast/coffee shops in Phoenix. The place is cool and they have a really wide selection of freshly baked pastries. My favorite breakfast item is the pork chile verde. That is definitely rich and flavorful. Don't even try it if you're watching your calories. But if you're in for a little treat then you'll be pleasantly surprised. I also tried the lemon ricotta pancakes but I didn't like them as much as I thought I would. In the past I've also liked their breakfast sandwich. Tres leches cake was good. This place is definitely top 3 for breakfast in the Valley. If you come on the weekend try to come early, preferably before 10 because it's packed around noon. read more

When I was visiting Phoenix for the Drake concert, my best friend heard about Olie Vaughn's from a local and we decided to pop in. Just know they have a special place in my heart! I came the first time for a regular breakfast and, while it took a while since they were a bit packed, it was worth the wait. While we waited, I saw they had tons of sweets--a must-get. I got the German chocolate cake and it was to DIE for! OMFG, I'm still dreaming about it. It's one of those meals I wish you could DoorDash across state lines. All in all, it's a great spot. Been wanting to check this place out as I have seen great photos and reviews for this place, so stopped in here today for lunch with a good buddy. Pastry case is full of yummy looking desserts and I swear I wanted to have one of each to go. On this trip, didn't ultimately order anything sweet. For lunch, I tried their hoagie sandwich and had an iced matcha latte with oat milk. You order your food and are given a number and then you can seat yourself. Since it was late morning, still easy to sit outside. They have a nice outdoor patio in the back thats shaded that have ample 4 tops and several 2 person high tops. The outdoor patio also has some trees in the back also. Really nice to just sit outside and relax. I will say that the main area in the restaurant is a little bit louder than I would like and my original plan was to take a work call here, but given that the music was blasting, I changed plans. Hoagie sandwich was really big (and not something I normally order, was being adventurous) and was a bit of a disappointment for me. I didn't ask to hold the mayo and that was my mistake but there was just way too much mayo on the sandwich for me, which just ruined it for me. Alfalfa sprouts were great and the sopressata had a bit of a kick to it. This sandwich just isn't for me, but it was a well-made hoagie. I really should stick to things I know and like vs. being adventurous. Matcha latte was great, and I enjoyed that! They have a monthly rotating menu but seems they keep to some of the same items. We ordered an iced latte, breakfast sandwich, biscuits and gravy with egg and a cruffin. It was over $40 so a bit pricey on the food items but taste is worth it. The coffee was so tasty and perfect amount of sweetness. The only downside side to the drink was those horrible paper straws that stick to your lips! I'm all for saving the turtles but can't stand those straws. The breakfast sandwich was on the smaller side but packed with flavor. It included cheddar, avocado, roasted tomato on an onion roll. I do wish it had an aioli or some type of spread which would've put it over the top. Hubs loved the biscuits and gravy and it had plenty of sausage in the sauce. Now, that dang cruffin, it was the star of the show for me and I would go back just to get that lol. It was so buttery like a croissant, flaky and fresh. It was filled with a lemon curd and topped with cream. The outside is rolled in sugar. It was seriously heaven and one of the best pastries I've had. This girl knows her pastries too! Was so excited to try this place out! As you soon walk in, you get all the incredible smells from all the fresh pastries and coffee.. just heavenly! You order right up front and find a place to sit. I ordered 2 eggs, sourdough toast, and bacon, and my friend got their avocado toast which was good but needed a bit more flavor. Where I was disappointed was on the coffee. My friend and I make it a point to try different coffee shops around the valley and this one came highly recommended. I ordered an oat milk lavender cappuccino, and my friend got their white mocha iced coffee. Unfortunately both our drinks didn't really have much flavor or coffee taste. Mine came to me half empty as you can see from the picture and not a single note of lavender was found. :( All the though the atmosphere was nice, I don't know that I would make it a point to visit again. Ollie Vaughn's reminds me of a cafe that would be a hot spot in Brooklyn. It's located in an old building with a wooden ceiling exposing all the ducts and hardware. I loved the open kitchen concept with indoor / outdoor seating. We sat inside, but the outdoor seated area appeared to be very pretty surrounded by plants and shaded by trees- a plant enthusiasts dream. I ordered the meat breakfast sandwich. I didn't put it down after I first touched it. Partially because it was a little sloppy and partially because it was so damn good. Really cool little place! I hadn't heard of it until recently when I saw some local foodies post about it and immediately added it to my list. They were pretty busy but we're getting out orders pretty quickly. I got an almond milk mocha, a plain croissant, and I got my husband a chocolate chip cookie. They make their croissants and they are so delicious! Next time I'll warm it up first but I was too excited to wait this time haha. The mocha was good, not super chocolatey but still yummy, definitely a good mocha if you really like espresso. Ollie Vaughn's has such a cute interior and outdoor patio, love bringing people here who are visiting from out of town.
