I can see why this place is popular. I was craving brunch, and didn't wake up early enough for breakfast, and came here closer to lunch time instead. Luckily they stay open until 2PM, and i was able to get my breakfast items. We ended up getting the curly wolf and the gambler. The curly wolf didn't come with side dishes, but the gambler came with your choice of two breakfast sides. Curly Wolf: Fried Potatoes smothered in queso, topped with grilled ham, american cheese, again, with a biscuit n' sausage gravy, 2 sausage patties, & 2 eggs scrambled with cheddar. It's finished off with 2 slices of bacon on top. i picked this since it had a green heart next to it, and our waitress told us it was a favorite of patrons. We also got the gambler: 3 egg omelet with fried chicken, bacon & ranch, with cheddar, american, & Monterrey, topped with sliced avocado. Served with 2 breakfast sides & salsa. As for the sides, we got the hash brown casserole and a cinnamon bun. Both were excellent side choices. Both entrees were really delicious and both entrees were really filling. We definitely didn't finish and had to bring it home. I think this place you definitely get a good value for your money. Even arriving closer to 12pm, we still had to wait. But i assume if we came here during peak morning hours, the wait time would be a lot longer. read more

Our timing wasn't planned well, it was 11am on a Sunday. However, we were greeted by our waiter Micheal. The coffee was delish & our breakfast food came out hot & very quickly. 2 coffees, 2 big delicious breakfasts- about $35. Micheal was great. Stopped here for breakfast to catch up with some old friends while we were in town. The staff was welcoming and friendly but I forgot to catch the waiter's name. The decor was kind of dark and outdated but everything appeared to be clean. I had the strawberry belle which was two large pieces of French toast stuffed with a large amount of cheesecake filling and topped with a bunch of fresh strawberries and strawberry glaze. The eggs were just alright but the bacon was good. The cheesy grits were a huge let down and were very watery with little to no flavor and not near enough cheese. My husband got the train robber burrito which is a huge breakfast burrito smothered with queso. He said the queso was very yummy and the burrito was simple but full of flavor. The drip coffee was not great. We would try this place again next time we're in town and will recommend the Grapevine location to anyone visiting the area. read more

Breakfast Chicken fried chicken with eggs and biscuits and gravy in a skillet was delicious, It's a huge portion so be hungry. The breading is crispy and the gravy was very good. The Cowboy Crunch French toast with fruit was so good. I've never had a bad experience here. read more

If you want a place with DELICIOUS food and MASSSSSIVVVEE portions... go to old west!! Every time we've been here 1) the line has been insane and out the door and 2) the food is so so good. The pancakes are bigger than your head. The cinnamon ones were so good!! The breakfast tacos were also amazing. If you don't want to wait, get here when it opens. Otherwise, the parking lot fills up and you have to drive around waiting for people to leave... but let me tell ya... it's that good. Worth the wait!! read more

We are always looking for hometown, local fare. Our Yelp! community was spot on with this establishment: Old West Cafe is what it's all about. Located in Grapevine Texas, the restaurant holds to its rustic roots: nothing fancy about it, just right to the point. You're at a cafe and will get great food served in a family style setting. There were two large parties ahead of us and we thought the wait would be long. However, they expertly seated the tables of 9 and 15, then sat us, immediately. Coffee, grits, biscuits with gravy and eggs with Canadian bacon came right up and we were very pleased with the timing and flavor. The customer service was good as well. Restrooms were themed and very clean. It is obvious that they have pride for their establishment. The price was right and we walked away feeing like we got a great deal, overall. It was great to eat with the locals and enjoy the space. read more

Who doesn't love Old West Cafe??!! We came in on a Wednesday of thanksgiving week around 8:30am. So normally not too busy but this was a holiday week. Even with a packed house they sat us down within 5 mins. Love the service here. Our server Ilir was awesome. Very attentive and didn't go overboard. The decor inside always makes me feel like I'm in an old western movie. Love it! I ordered the omelette and my wife had the biscuits and gravy with eggs on top. We loved every bit of it. My omelette was cooked to perfection and tasted so good. Then I was "allowed" to take only one bite of my wife's biscuits and gravy. WOW !! So good! Love this place and they are the most affordable food breakfast place in the entire metroplex! read more

We were in Dallas for a trip and heard lots of great things about this restaurant. We also heard that the weight can be very long. Fortunately, we went on a Monday morning and did not have to wait at all. Our service was great, and our waiter was very friendly. The ambience of this restaurant would definitely be home. There are a lot of southern comfort, sort of decorations and they decorated the restaurant for Christmas as well. We ordered two really big plates of breakfast one being the chicken fried steak with eggs and sides and it was so delicious. If I lived in Dallas I'd get a plate of the chicken right now. We also really enjoyed the cinnamon roll French toast. My boyfriend really enjoyed this and says that he's never tried a French toast quite like it. read more

Solid delicious food and the staff is super accommodating and lovely. Open for breakfast and lunch and every breakfast dish here is shareable by a couple of people.. Portions are HUGE, like everything is bigger in Texas Huge, and we weren't complaining one bit. The menu is also big so you have several options ranging in classic all American to classic Southern to Tex Mex. Decor is Southern country kitchen with some well placed kitchy signs and pictures and such. Ordered the Wild side Six shooter breakfast skillet: opened faced biscuit base smothered in sausage gravy, then topped with a gigantic chicken fried steak and smothered some more! Drool. Worthy. Also ordered Papi's Huevos; had the right amount of crunch from the crispy tostadas covered in refried beans, salsa, chucks of chorizo, cheese and pickled jalapeno was so satisfying and comforting. Picked up our granddaughter and hubby at DFW early a.m. and they needed breakfast!!! Mapped a quick drive to OWC and it made all happy. Breakfast done right. ALL the options you could ever ask for and everything done right proper. We (4) each opted for a different breakfast from a Mexican skillet dish to traditional eggs, hash browns and sausage. Served up piping hot!!! No wonder this place has a better rating than the Original House of Pancakes. Plus their pancakes are actually the size of dinner plates!!! Highly recommend!! read more

At less than a 10 minute drive from the Gaylord Resort, I was excited to try this place for breakfast. When I arrived, I noticed that there wasn't very much parking space from the outside and the cafe is actually quite small. At first I had a hard time deciphering where the entrance was because there wasn't clear signage. Once inside, I was greeted by a friendly waitress, who sat me really quickly. I opted for the French toast, hashbrowns, two over hard eggs, and two slices of bacon. While unassuming, the food was delicious! The french toast portions were smaller than I thought, and I thought it'd be soggy, but it was perfectly crispy and not overly sweet. The eggs and bacon were quite standard. Unfortunately, the hashbrowns were a little undercooked and overly greasy. But all in all, not bad for a breakfast joint! If you're looking for a solid breakfast for under $30 (w/ tax + tip) this is your place! I will note, however, that the inside is very Texas (and the music is strictly country). read more

Consistently good. We have no complaints.. we generally order the Six Shooter but maybe we are biscuit gravied out as we will not likely order again. The breading just fell Off the chicken, the chicken was small in proportion with the meal. No flavor to the gravy really. The Train Robber really hit the spot though. Lemon Blueberry pancake actually was not finished and landed in the trash at home .. so sad. It was tasty though. read more

Food was amazing, cinnamon crunch french toast was unique and delicious! My husband and I shared the rustler and got the french toast as a premium side. The pancakes included in the rustler were HUGE. Too much for me and my husband to eat. Our son got the kids French toast and we asked for strawberries and whipped cream on the side for him and he loved it. Our daughter got an omelet and loved it as well. This looks like a local hotspot that tourists have found because it is very busy. Food quality was great and everything we saw looked homemade. We will definitely come back when we come back to Texas. Food 10/10, ambiance comfort of chairs booths 8/10, service 10/10. Bathroom (ladies) 1/10. Two stalls, one was broken, toilet paper holder was broken so it made it hard to get in. I don't remember seeing a changing table. But I wouldn't let the bathroom stop you from going!!! read more

So we dropped in for breakfast. The atmosphere is cool country. The menu is pretty vast anything you can think of for breakfast. The serving sizes are huge I would encourage you to prepare to take home leftovers. Our favorite was the cinnamon roll pancakes. You get breakfast and dessert combined. The service was fantastic. First time visiting here while in Dallas. Recommend by a coworker. This location is really busy and does not have a lot of parking so we parked at the school. They require everyone in the party to be seated. And it took about 15 minutes once everyone was there. The service was just okay but the waitress didn't seem overall my friendly. Bland and flavorless. I ordered the Six Shooter. That's a chicken fried steak atop biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs. Possibly the worst chicken fried steak I've ever had. The breading immediately slipped off. So that means it wasn't prepared right. What breading I did try was crispy. I'll give it that. The steak? So tough I left about 80% of it on the plate. It was that bad. Zero flavor. Super tough. Sausage gravy also zero flavor. Except maybe for some flour. I couldn't tell if that was from the gravy or the biscuits, which were soft and fluffy. I also had two strips of bacon. Meh. For me to have that reaction to bacon tells you don't bother. Small strips that were overcooked. Even salt, pepper and Tabasco couldn't save this meal. At least the coffee was good. read more

Cute place. Delicious blueberry pancakes. Requested Crisp bacon got limpy bacon. My husband had eggs, sausage and biscuits and said that it was just OK. Meaning the sausage and biscuit how can you screw up eggs? Definitely would go back and make a point of reiterating a couple of times for Chris Bacon, but I would definitely have those blueberry pancakes again. Great experience here at the Old West Cafe! I decided in 2024 I am going to make an extra effort to try some new places that o have driven past for years but never stopped in and tried. The Old West Cage Grapevine is one such place! When I entered I noticed how appropriate the name is, the ambiance is definitely old west...nothing misleading here! The menu is pretty overwhelming. I wish I had studied it online a bit before coming as I really did not take too much time today before ordering. I got what they call the Cowpoke, which is 1 egg, a breakfast meat, and a ginormous pancake. I had my egg over medium and it was perfectly prepared. The bacon was thick and delicious! The pancake like I said was huge, and pretty respectable. My server was Clarion. She was very professional and efficient, exactly what I like in a server. I will be back but before I come back in I am going to take a little time and review the menu online and see where my tastebuds take me from there! read more

We were immediately greeted by Larry who was seated us and let us know that Sebastian would be serving our table. The café had a very cool western design. The menu is huge with sooo many selections I appreciate that they offer a variety of breakfast meat that included turkey sausage and turkey bacon . I personally don't eat pork. The speciality pancakes were our favorite parts of the meals. With so many options I finally decided on the Peach cobbler pancake and my son chose a cinnamon roll pancake- both of which were really yummy! If you are a big water drink- BRING YOUR OWN WATER as the water tasted like dirt, I am not exaggerating‼ Our server, Sebastian was attentive and even replaced our water- unfortunately with the same unsavory dissatisfaction. My friend and I went there for lunch. We were very disappointed. I had eaten there once or twice for breakfast and it was fairly good. I ordered the Philly sandwich, it was not like the Philly sandwiches I've had before. It was slapped between two pieces of greasy bread. And when you bit into it, all the meat would come out in your mouth. It really had no taste at all. I ordered the fruit on the side, which was fairly good. The waitress wasn't real friendly. I was staying in the Dallas area, Grapevine to be more precise, for a few weeks for work. On the last day before heading to the airport on a Friday my group decided to go to Old West Cafe. I was really excited because I had seen the reviews and I didn't want to miss this before leaving. I don't have any connections to Dallas so it isn't very likely I'll be back anytime soon. When we arrived there were a lot of open tables and we were a group of 6, four of us being larger sized men. The host seemed a bit perplexed about what to do with us and went for help. When she returned she pointed us to a 4-top right next to the host station. One of the people in my group immediately said, "Well that's not going to work!" and the hostess mumbled something about where did the other two chairs go. There was no way our group was going to fit on that table. She somewhat reluctantly moved us to an actual 6-top table. I got the Peacemaker which is 2 biscuits covered with sausage gravy, 2 eggs, choice of bacon or sausage. Most of the dishes ordered came in cast iron skillets. This is maybe a cute idea but the execution was terrible. These skillets were room temperature and they immediately sucked all the heat out of the food. No one that was served in a skillet seemed happy with what they got. Now if the skillets were kept quite warm they would have helped keep the food hot, but it was the exact opposite. My eggs were cooked okay, I get them over easy. They were a little more done than I really like but not cooked solid, I'd easily describe them as over medium. The gravy was absolutely nothing to write home about. That was by far the most disappointing part. I was expecting that a highly rated breakfast place in the heart of Texas would have better sausage gravy than so many of the hotels serve for their complementary breakfast, but it was not even as good as that. I got the smoked sausage as my meat and it was a rather small single link sliced in half. I don't think anyone at our table was very impressed. I honestly have been happier with my food at IHOP than here. Service wasn't very good in general and coffee refills were exceedingly hard to come by. read more

History

Established in 1999.

The year was 1999, and I was working 80 hours a week in the corporate world! (I am sure many of you can relate!) I rarely spent time with my children and husband, and time was just passing on by! My husband always knew I wanted to own my own little cafe, so one day, out of the blue, he came home with my very own key to my very own cafe! WOW! That's how Oldwest Cafe was born! Even as we grow a bit, I never forget where we started, what a hard road it was getting here, and how hard we all need to work to try not to lose that happy feeling ya'll get when you walk through our doors! We want to treat people just the same way we want to be treated back, kindly and with the utmost respect. So all you mighty fine Cowgirls and Cowboys, saddle up that horse and hit the trail for Oldwest Cafe! Pretty darn sure y'all might like it! And if ya don't, well, that's okay too, cause even I know that ya can't please em all! So, Happy Trails and get down to the Oldwest and take a load off!

The rice and refried beans were seasoned perfectly and complemented the meal well. We also ordered the chimichanga, smothered in cheese sauce and served with rice and refried beans, for $16.00. It was well seasoned, delicious, and satisfying. The flavors weren't overpowering--they were balanced and enjoyable, making it a dish I would gladly order again. This was my first visit to Mi Dia From Scratch, and I came away very impressed. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lively, and the restaurant also offers a nice outdoor seating area. I generally don't like to eat on patios, because flies show up, etc. Not at Craftway... not sure what they were doing, but there wasn't a fly or other flying bug around. The patio wasn't just clean, it was meticulous. Welcoming too - It felt very much like an extension of the restaurant. Alex, our waiter was quick to bring water and menus. Returning to take drink orders, a margarita was ordered as was a glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Drinks were quickly served. Water was never allowed to become empty. Alex asked if we had ever been to Craftway, we informed him this was our first visit. His ask "any allergies?" to which we said no. He disappeared, returning with an appetizer sampling plate with three items - the Reuben egg rolls, crab stuffed mushrooms, and blue cheese chips. All were fantastic! Three entrees ordered, the Chicken & Fig sandwich, Chicken Milanese and the Cajun pasta with Chicken. Food arrived; each entree was fantastic. Cooked to perfection, flavors were amazing. Without a doubt my go to entree is the Beef Wellington. I remember La Madeleine had an affordable one on their menu in the late nineties, this is reminiscent. I do usually swap out the mashed potatoes for the chopped wedge as side, just seems like the classical steakhouse side for the task. The only thing I would say that is lacking is the wine list, despite being very fairly priced. Their most bespoke bottle of red is the Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon (2021), which while amazing for the $99.99 they charged, it was fairly flat, lacking the traditional vanilla perfume you'd expect from a pricey California Cabernet Sauvignon. Also took a bottle of GH Mumm Grand Cordon, which also did not taste as anticipated. I think the most plausible explanation might be heat damage, as both wines are usually well regarded but came up short.

Based on her tone and facial expressions I'm going to assume this was a line she had used several times this Sunday. We left, went to J Macklins across the street and took the 4 people waiting behind us with us as well. They had also made reservations and were told that, "the reservations don't mean anything." I'm not sure what business model Hemingways is following, but it isn't working.

My favorite entrée ended up being the tomahawk pork chop. The pork itself was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well. I wasn't a huge fan of the pineapple bourbon glaze since I didn't think it added much to the dish, but the quality of the meat made up for it. We also had the strawberry spinach salad, which was fresh and a nice lighter option alongside all the richer dishes. Then there was also a side dish with green beans and almond and again no complains there. Overall, I left feeling a little conflicted. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great, and the portions were very generous. The food itself was a mix of really good dishes and others that completely missed the mark. After such an incredible start with the calamari, I expected the rest of the meal to be on the same level, but it just never got there. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd rush back to.

What can I say that other Yelpers haven't already said? Let me be concise: Pros: Large portions Inexpensive Great taste *Tons of choices (literally two whole menus) Cons: VERY crowded Small tables for parties of 3 or 4 Only open until 2 *Tons of choices (literally two whole menus) *Okay, the tons of choices thing could fall in either category. Everything I have had here has been very good. My favorites are the OWC chicken salad which could feed a small country, the chicken fried steak topped with biscuits and gravy, and the flapjacks that are as big as your face and deliciously fluffy. The food is seriously great here. If you love breakfast food and have not been here, you have no idea what you are missing. Good old fashioned giant portions of anything you could possibly want. If you want to experience Old West, I highly recommend either going before 8am or after 1 because the crowds are crazy. Weekdays are better, but I have never been to Old West when the dining room wasn't full, and we usually go from the office at 1 and they close at 2. We tried on a weekend once, but there was a 2.5 hour wait. When we go at lunch during the week, it is crowded but we have never had to wait. I will let you know something personal about me. I hate crowds. Like HATE crowds. We go to the beach in the winter, go to amusement parks about 2 hours before close, etc. Anything to avoid locations where hoards of people tend to gather. So in order for me to frequent a restaurant where there are always crowds, the food has to be worth it. read more

Every shift I worked with him was very uncomfortable. After bringing it up several times to management, nothing was done about it because he's the owner niece's boyfriend. so l decided to quit and he's still there, coughing in his hands and touching his nasty greasy hair while touching food. Also no one's allowed to eat!! The owner had the nerve to say 8 hours without eating won't kill you!!! They treat the whole staff like they're nothing, but disappears for about 30 to 45 minutes to get high in their car. They've been spotted twice by employees smoking on a pipe. They were very busy when I arrived on a Saturday morning that I had about a 25 minute wait... They were understaffed, and I saw my server enough to order my food and get my bill at the end, but he never checked up on me to find out that there was something wrong with my meal. They had too many tables crammed together in too small a space, and other people were lacking basics like salt+pepper and syrup that *two* other tables had to borrow the supplies off of my table. To top this all off, the restroom was *FILTHY* and when I walked in there, I could *FEEL THE OILY FLOOR* DISGUSTING! Just because a place is packed does not make it a good place to eat. I came here earlier with my mom and my husbands mom and our 4 kids to celebrate Mother's Day and although the food was alright and not the best our amazing waiter who had long brown hair and a stubble beard( sorry didn't get his name) but he was amazing! I tipped him well so the service was great! But the pancakes were dry and the country fried steak was basically all batter and not steak! But otherwise than that the other food my kids ordered and husband (French toast), cinnamon roll and salad was really good! Wish I ordered that instead! I've visited Old West Cafe 2 times now, and both times and both meals have been amazing! This morning, I ordered the Cowpoke. They have several options for the pancakes, so I picked the Cinnamon Multi-grain pancake. It was delish!! Loved it! The place is always packed, and even on a Thursday at 10am, we still had to wait a few minutes for parking-no parking in the overflow parking either! The daily crowds speak for themselves! Old West Café is a must-visit! The portions are huge, the prices are super reasonable, and the staff is amazing--so friendly and on top of everything. I had the Warrior French Toast and the biscuits and gravy, and both were absolutely incredible. The French toast was rich and perfectly cooked, and the biscuits were fluffy with the best sausage gravy I've had in a long time. Gold Fields French Toast. BAM! That's all you need to know about this place. One bite of this almond-crisp french toast and you're hooked. It comes with eggs and your choice of bacon/sausage/ham, but all you really need is the french toast. I kid you not, the best plate of french toast topped with bananas & whipped cream! I've actually had them remake food for me because they thought it wasn't up to par when I thought there was nothing wrong with it. Also, the pancakes are huge! The only negative is the parking, but I don't hold that against them as they have done the most with the space they have available. read more

Food was great! They're now taking reservations here which is awesome. We had a party of 12 this morning. Everything was put together as planned. Love the coffee, didn't know it was from Amazon. Taking our chances as a party of three walk in's, the restaurant was full inside, and there were a few tables open on the patio. I generally don't like to eat on patios, because flies show up, etc. Not at Craftway... not sure what they were doing, but there wasn't a fly or other flying bug around. The patio wasn't just clean, it was meticulous. Welcoming too - It felt very much like an extension of the restaurant. Alex, our waiter was quick to bring water and menus. Returning to take drink orders, a margarita was ordered as was a glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Drinks were quickly served. Water was never allowed to become empty. Alex asked if we had ever been to Craftway, we informed him this was our first visit. His ask "any allergies?" to which we said no. He disappeared, returning with an appetizer sampling plate with three items - the Reuben egg rolls, crab stuffed mushrooms, and blue cheese chips. All were fantastic! Three entrees ordered, the Chicken & Fig sandwich, Chicken Milanese and the Cajun pasta with Chicken. Food arrived; each entree was fantastic. Cooked to perfection, flavors were amazing. Dessert, shared, was a bread pudding with ice cream, a perfect finish. Alex never let beverages become empty, delivered superb service. The only thing I would say that is lacking is the wine list, despite being very fairly priced. Their most bespoke bottle of red is the Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon (2021), which while amazing for the $99.99 they charged, it was fairly flat, lacking the traditional vanilla perfume you'd expect from a pricey California Cabernet Sauvignon. Also took a bottle of GH Mumm Grand Cordon, which also did not taste as anticipated. I think the most plausible explanation might be heat damage, as both wines are usually well regarded but came up short.
