After leaving the community center in Grapevine, TX, I had a craving for some Mexican food. I had heard several people talking about Mi Dia From Scratch, so I decided it was finally time to see what all the buzz was about. I arrived during the lunch rush, and both the parking lot and the restaurant were packed. Even though they were extremely busy, we were immediately greeted by a courteous and polite young man who quickly escorted us to a booth. We were seated in Ms. Maria's section, and she was a wonderful server. She greeted us with a warm smile, brought us menus along with the lunch menu, chips and salsa, and promptly served our water. She gave us plenty of time to look over the menu and was friendly, attentive, and very courteous throughout our meal. The chips and salsa were very good. My only suggestion would be to offer a salsa without cilantro for those who prefer it. We ordered the Create Your Own Combo Plate, which included a chicken flauta, a crispy taco, rice, and refried beans topped with cheese for $15.50. The taco was perfectly crispy and well seasoned, while the chicken flauta was covered in a flavorful red chile sauce that had just the right amount of heat. The rice and refried beans were seasoned perfectly and complemented the meal well. We also ordered the chimichanga, smothered in cheese sauce and served with rice and refried beans, for $16.00. It was well seasoned, delicious, and satisfying. The flavors weren't overpowering--they were balanced and enjoyable, making it a dish I would gladly order again. This was my first visit to Mi Dia From Scratch, and I came away very impressed. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lively, and the restaurant also offers a nice outdoor seating area. Wow! They really do have great and fresh food here! I greatly appreciate the New Mexican flavors and use of green chile in their salsa. Upon ordering, you get a a basket of chips with the red and green salsa. I had the hatch tacos and they were AMAZING. The meat was cooked to perfection and had great flavor in terms of seasoning. The bartender was very kind and welcoming. The restaurant is very clean. Their use of fresh herbs infuses the restaurant with a wonderful and pleasing scent. You will need to find parking along Main Street or nearby lot. Part of a cluster of several different types of restaurants; the sign is not visible from the street. Lots of seating inside and out; outside offers a great view of the common area; a great place for children to play. The tableside made guacamole was absolutely delicious; probably the best I've had!! The steak nachos were recommended by a friend and we were quite delicious. After studying the choices of margaritas available; I decided on hell freezes over. The table side guac was super filling. The queso was good- it was on the thicker side. Chips and salsa were tasty nothing too over the top. The taco salad was huge - beef fajita was tasty and tender. My husband loved his chimichanga. There is indoor seating, bar seated booths etc and then outdoor seating covered on the patio with like misters/fan action? So it was not as hot. My boyfriend and I went to mia dia for dinner after he got off work and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We got the watermelon margaritas, which took a while to get to our table, but our server immediately brought out chips and salsa. I love that the green and red salsa comes mixed - it's fun! We split a chicken quesadilla which they warned was spicy but wasn't too bad! It was delicious and creamy. He got a chimichanga which had yummy steak inside. The rice and beans were also fabulous. Lunch specials are decent price deals, but you get what you paid for. Lunch Tex-Mex quesadilla was mid--soft with very little meat inside and simply nothing special to it. The lunch two enchiladas and a beef taco combo was also just okay. I really enjoyed the rice and beans with it, but the beef taco was like a crispy beef taco from Taco Bell and chicken enchilada was drowning in sour cream (though the chicken was very tender and well seasoned). Highlights of this restaurant were the tableside guacamole ($18) and free chips & salsa. It's a fun experience to watch them make the guac at your table, and it's a big portion plus with bacon. I grew up in California and am kind of picky about my Mexican food, but Mi Dia's fajitas and tortillas did not disappoint. Well seasoned steak and soft, flavorful tortillas made for an excellent dinner, one I almost didn't have, since I was so busy filling up on the very good chips and various salsas. The ambiance is good: a bit loud, but that's no big deal, especially since I went on a Friday night. The service was inconsistent, unfortunately. We didn't see our waiter for long periods of time, and then he was replaced by another waiter, and then we waited a long time for drinks and to place our orders. Overall, the next time I head back to Mi Dia, I'll get a reservation on the patio and will leave plenty of room for the salsa. read more

I met a sweet friend at Mi Dia from Scratch for lunch, and oh my! I had the lunch fajitas - they are now my new favorite place for fajitas! Homemade tortillas - excellent. Grilled chicken for the fajitas - delicious and tender. Grilled ones and jalapeño - grilled to my liking. Everything was fresh, tasty, and as I wrote this I am craving their fajitas already. Our server was attentive, made sure our drinks were always filled, he checked in us often, and followed up with asking if we need to-go containers or drinks. Excellent service! The interior of this restaurant is elegant, and yet, not stuffy. It has a unique design with the bar in the middle and secluded booths built all around it. This restaurant is very nice. We walked into an upscale beautiful decor restaurant. It was around lunch time so it was pretty crowded. We were quickly seated in a booth and were brought salsa and chips. Half green and half red salsas in the same bowl. They were both very good. As a San Diegan whose been to Mexico a about a hundred times and 1/3 of all the states there I was skeptical of Texas mexican food. On initial menu scan it's got a bit of everything and it's uncommon to see, but I've had great Indian, BBQ, Steakhouse, Asian, Japanese in Dallas, so why be close minded about Tex-Mex. The Sante fe section gave New Mexico vibes and the entire Tex-Mex section is really where I lived. Chimichangas were invented in Tuscan so I was curious how chile con carne (traditional red) and rice & beans mixed with a fried burrito. The steak was tender, a tad dry and needed both garlic and citrus notes to be asada. It hides behind the chile con carne and queso. The guajillo rice was quite good. Pricing threw me off since brisket should be more expensive than steak considering the work put in, so I ordered the brisket fajita nachos which I found to be good. It's not BBQ brisket, but good. I probably should have gone picadollo/steak split. The arbol and tomatillo salsas were good, well roasted, good tang, could use some salt and or bouillon. Bacon is an odd thing becuase their brisket isn't smokey and their chipotle isn't either, so I expected something to come through on thier quesadilla. The Guiso felt like it was trying to be Chile Colorado and Beef Tinga. Hatch chiles are seasonal and like jalapenos they turn red when matured, so i stayed away from it since it's not in season (July-Sept). The Xmas burrito sounded intruiging, but ultimated I ended up getting the Wood grilled salmon and Codorniz. The whipped morita potatos were fire. Chayote (us Fililpino's use this often to substitute green papaya) and mano lemongrass mojo. The salmon was bright, vibrant, steamed to perfection. I treid my friends poblano rice and wished I got that instead despite raving about their guajillo rice. I had to be picky on the menu being so big that I really wanted to try alot more, but had to be selective splitting it with my party to get to try the most things. I'll have to come back here for brunch as I'm still trying to be sold on Breakfast tacos and anything non traditional. Service is good, they play the part with authenticity and loyalty. The prices are reasonable considering the massive Cheesecake vibe. Ambiance is a litlte corporate and stating it's from Scratch isn't what sold me on them, it's the # of reviews. Wanted to try some Tex-Mex while in the DFW area and this restaurant did not disappoint! Was recommended this by a friend and was very satisfied. The ambience was great and friendly and the food was great! The highlight of our meal was the esquites (corn) and the brisket tacos. We are big fans! Being from New Mexico, living in Texas has been hard for us when it comes to New Mexican food. Mi Dia comes through with red and green chile enchiladas (ox eyes enchiladas on the menu) and other items that taste like home! This location is usually pretty busy, especially during peak hours, but the wait has never been too much of a deterrent. The staff is always friendly and efficient, attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant had lovely indoor and outdoor tables, with heaters and fans outside to help patrons deal with the Texas weather. Standouts, for us, are from the Santa Fe items section on the menu -- aforementioned Ox Eyes enchiladas of course! The guiso is great...rich and flavorful! You can't go wrong with flautas or a tampiquena steak! Tamales are substantial with enough filling! And the sopes are also very yummy! Very nice upscale Mexican restaurant just south of downtown Grapevine. Busy on a Wednesday night but we only waited about 20 min. for a table. The margaritas were tasty and the service was friendly and paced well. Enjoyed their version of queso flameado with flavorful chorizo and salsas that were varied in both taste and heat levels. Had dinner here last night and it was really good. The salsa they give you upon arrival is amazing. Like you want to just drink it. I love that the chips are large. Maybe my waist line not soo much. The food was season to taste and not salty. The shrimp and fish were good quality and a decent size shrimp. We walked right in and didn't have to wait. I tried finding an upscale Mexican restaurants, which was creative, artistic, and has a blend of authentic Mexican , Tex-Mex and get a little rowdy in creating your own recipes. You always end up at the places where you see similar kind of menu, but luckily, I found this place which was out of box found the menu to be super curated with the location and chef. You enter this place and find an amazing interiors with a beautiful bar and a very respectable staff. There is definitely reservations. Recommended because display gets super crowded as in how the food speaks for itself. It's located in the very prime and nice Neighbourhood, which definitely makes it very busy. We ordered a bunch of stuff and then everything tasted awesome. I'm sure the pictures speak for itself. Would've given 5 stars but I had to circle the parking lot twice then give into valet. Definitely consider that if coming to this area. The service however was 5 stars! My margarita had dry ice which was fun to watch bubble. The guacamole was made right in front of us which was incredible for the experience and knowing it was made fresh! The flavor was perfect.
