this place is more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. i recently moved to grapevine and back in fort worth there was a mexican place i really enjoyed going to. And here in grapevine i was on a mission to find a new mexican spot i could call my own. I drive by this place many times on my way to work, and stopped in last weekend to check it out. When i got there, it was really crowded inside, but luckily there was an open table so i didn't need to wait. we ended up getting flautas and enchiladas along with a cup of horchata. While we waited for the food to come, they came by and served us chips and salsa. the food didn't take too long to arrive. Both entrees were great, but i feel like they're a tiny bit overpriced for what we got. The service was great, our waiter came by fairly often to check on us. I don't know when they painted the outside, but its not yellow anymore. I'll definitely be back to try the other items.

We love Los Amigos! It's a great value, close to where we live, with good service and really good food! They recently painted the outside of the building, changing it from yellow to white. Not a lot of changed inside, it's still more of a rustic / old Mexican restaurant look. However, It's clean, and well-maintained. Typically, you can just go in and pick where you want to sit. They have a great menu, check it out here in the app. We love the Parrillada! It's a huge portion of chicken, steak, shrimp & sausage served on a hot skillet (fajita style) with onions & peppers. It comes with a bowl of bean soup, refried beans and rice. You can order it for one or two people, however, we can barely eat the portion for one person! Of course, chips and sauce are included with all your meal, at no additional cost. The chips are thin, hot and crisp. Love their salsa, just the right amount of bite and flavor! It may not fully deserve 5 stars, but for what it is, that's our rating. If you haven't been there lately, you really need to come back. If you're in the area and haven't tried it, now is the time!

Great Food, Great Service! I have seen this place for years but for some reason never came in. Boy was I missing out! I ordered the Chicken Fajita Taco Lunch. It came with 2 tacos that were generously filled, rice and beans. Also, I got a small cup of bean soup with the order. Everything was great!

Complimentary Bowl Bean Soup, it's so good, throw in a couple chips and salsa... magic.

This place is a hole in the wall and I loooove me a good hole in the wall. I don't want fancy plates with okay-ish food, I want a homey atmosphere and friendly service and amazing food. Their street tacos are so good, perfect size with rice and beans. My friend loves the chicken fajita flautas, and she's been coming to this place for 20+ years. You even get a free beer or margarita with your food. But. None of that compares to the amazing salsa. I had to order a pint to go. It's some of the best salsa I've ever had. It's like salsa and pico had a baby, and they don't cook it. I cannot stand cooked salsa. The point of salsa is fresh. Great experience, grew up in Grapevine but live in Hurst, can't believe I have never eaten here. Cannot wait to go back.

I was already convinced when I pulled up to the eye catching, bright yellow building that this would be one of my new favorite, local hole-in-the-wall Tex-Mex restaurants. This was further affirmed upon walking in to find a kitschy interior space decorated with random artifacts and mural covered walls. But looks can be deceiving... Everything served before the entrees kept me hopeful that my initial assessment was accurate. The warm chips were noticeably freshly made. The salsa was mild enough to suit even the youngest diners without compromising flavor. The verde salsa I was given, after requesting something hotter, turned out to be equally as tasty. They even provided everyone with small bowls of charro beans to whet our palates just before the arrival of the entrees. However, the entrees themselves left something to be desired. The pulled chicken in the chimichanga, chalupas and enchiladas that we ordered had no detectable seasoning. The accompanying queso, guacamole, rice and beans had just a hint more yet still not enough. It's a shame that the entrees were less than stellar because a little spice could have gone a long way. Although some of the food was a little uninspiring it was not a terrible experience overall. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable. Also, the staff was friendly and quick.

The steak nachos were recommended by a friend and we were quite delicious. After studying the choices of margaritas available; I decided on hell freezes over. Well seasoned steak and soft, flavorful tortillas made for an excellent dinner, one I almost didn't have, since I was so busy filling up on the very good chips and various salsas. The ambiance is good: a bit loud, but that's no big deal, especially since I went on a Friday night. The service was inconsistent, unfortunately. We didn't see our waiter for long periods of time, and then he was replaced by another waiter, and then we waited a long time for drinks and to place our orders. Overall, the next time I head back to Mi Dia, I'll get a reservation on the patio and will leave plenty of room for the salsa.

I had not been to this particular Uncle Julio's before, in fact, it is set off the road enough that if you blink you might miss it. Walking in you immediately notice that the ambiance pays tribute to their other stores in that there is a nice blend of traditional Mexican decor blended with modern decor. I ordered Fajitas. I am going to say they were respectable. Not the best I have had, but way better than a lot I have had. Would I get them again? Probably, but there are a lot of other things I would try on the menu before getting them again. Being my coworker's birthday, we ordered a Chocolate Piñata for dessert. It was a fun experience to have people at the table take a swing at it, until out came Churros, and Fresh Fruit. There was an array of sauces to dip the Fruit and Churros in. Our Service was a bit slow at times, and for that I am taking a star off the rating. We all sat on the patio, which may have contributed to our feeling forgotten a few times

Mesa's is just a few minutes drive from Gaylord so it is super convenient. The ambience is pleasant and open and in general it was fine. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seats and parking outside. I did not get a "homey" feel but that may be just me. Our server was attentive and efficient. No problems or complaints. The free chips and salsa were good but not outstanding. The salsa was warm and obviously homemade, but it lacked kick. It was tasty but not "OMG this is good." I started with a cup of Roberto's queso which is the standard queso cheese with some ground beef, pico, and a tablespoon of guacamole. It too was good but not outstanding. I am not sure what it was missing but there was something that was needed. I had the two beef tacos and they were just average. Not much flavor or anything distinctive. The ground beef was not well seasoned so they were kind of bland. The rice and black beans were also kind of bland. Frankly, my tacos at home are better. The wife had the taco salad and liked it, although it did not come with any dressing. She used the salsa. Not sure if that was an oversight or that is the way the salad is served. She was also happy that they serve Negro Modelo on tap, so she was happy. The kid had nachos with black beans and cheese and did not complain. Overall, the meal was fine, nothing was terrible, but nothing really stood out as a compelling reason to return.

Such was the case recently when we paid a visit to Mesa. The first order of business was getting an appetizer to go with the chips and salsa. Upon the server's recommendation we got the queso Blanco. It was quite possibly the blandest queso I have ever eaten. At this point I started to worry that it was a sign of things to come. However, the extra spicy salsa that we also requested to go with the chips was more flavorful and gave me hope for the entrees. The good news is that my chicken and cheese enchiladas turned out to be better than the insipid appetizer. The not so good news is that it was still a mediocre meal. The rest of my family had mixed feelings about their food. My husband, who got 2 beef enchiladas, said his were overly salty but otherwise average. The bacon wrapped shrimp that my mother got were a little overcooked but she liked the sides. Both of my sons' entrees, the Mesa burrito and the chicken strips, were very well received. People like to say that even when pizza is bad it's still good. For me, that also applies to Tex-Mex. But, considering the plethora options out there, I doubt I will be returning anytime soon.

Yet, for the longest time, Baja Mex Grill did just that by serving the strongest margaritas in town. In fact, I had always heard that there was a limit of 2 per person. Although it may have only been a rumor, it was a good policy nonetheless (I speak from experience!) Even if margaritas weren't your thing, the food still held it's own. Basically, you couldn't go wrong with a visit here no matter your preferences. I don't know exactly when or how many times the ownership changed over the years, but apart from the name, nothing about this place is the same today. It was immediately evident upon being served chips and queso that both seemed like they came straight from a package. The extra hot salsa we requested turned out to be a creamy, green concoction that had a jalapeno-y flavor, but somehow still wasn't spicy. I will give them credit, however, for a very tasty regular salsa that appeared to be made in house. For my entree I ordered the Picante Enchiladas. Contrary to what the name implies there was no detectable heat. Furthermore, the grilled chicken on top had the distinct flavor of a frozen version made by Kroger. Once again, that prepackaged element reared it's ugly head. My husband and sons were mostly underwhelmed by their meals as well. The phrase "I've had better" was echoed around the table. And, they aren't normally a picky bunch! Our server brought everything out quickly, checked on us often, and kept our drinks topped up throughout our meal. So kudos to him! I have said this before, but it bears repeating. The Tex Mex arena is far too competitive for mediocre food like they serve here.
