I grew up going to Los Amigos and this restaurant has a special place in my heart. The service and food never disappoints. The enchiladas and tamales are my favorite or literally anything from their breakfast menu. About 2 years ago, my family and I had an early flight to go to my grandfathers funeral. We showed up an hour before they were open and walked in as they were setting things up. In our defense, the door was unlocked... probably because the staff was just getting there LOL. We apologized for barging in and started to leave. The manager (I'm guessing) told us to stay and served us breakfast anyway. It was just us, eating our favorite breakfast, while dreading a rough week ahead. I don't think they know how much we needed that. I can't recommend this place enough. PS; PLEASE bring back the wake up juice smoothies you would serve during breakfast or send me the recipe. LOL I still have dreams about it! read more

We stopped in for lunch and it was really fast and good. Our waiter was helpful and always there with refills. My picky eater kiddo wanted something specific and he was able to make it work to get it for him. Overall the food was excellent and the place had a very chill comfortable vibe. I first tried this place about 2 weeks ago. I drove by and decided to try it out. I could not believe what i was missing out on. I got sat down immediately and within a few moments i already had a young gentleman at my table with a basket of warm chips and salsa. shortly after he came back with a small bowl of beans. my goodness those beans were amazing. I ordered the Fajita plate with all the mixed meats and vegies and it came with rice an beans. The flavor was all there and the portion was very generous. The restaurant is very vibrant and well kept. The bright colors and awesome staff make all the difference. I have been back 2 more times since my first visit. I was very shocked because my office has had food from here before. So I was very disappointed when I decided my family decided on this place for lunch. We got the asada street taco plate, a couple of extra beef fajita street tacos and the Popeye's enchiladas. The tacos were okay. But the enchiladas were a little disappointing. I got the cheese one and it was supposed to be in a spinach cream mushroom sauce. All of the cheese was not fully cooked through and the spinach wasn't cooked or in the sauce. Just thrown on top. There was no flavor to the sauce at all so it was very disappointing. I'd be willing to try again and maybe this was an off day for them. read more

So it had been four years since our last visit - we were walking around downtown, got another email threat to our government jobs, and decided that a margarita and some nachos were needed. Any port in a storm, as they say. We have tried to like this place but just can't. The HVAC on the roof was thumping and rattling, making the whole ceiling of the dining area thump and shake. The lights were shaking as was our table. The salsa that came with the chips was really off, watered down and tasteless. I asked for a spicier one, which was a little more flavorful but also watered down. When our nachos came out, we were greeted by a pile of chips heavily coated in mostly melted, not great, probably fake, cheddar cheese. There was a layer of refried beans and grilled chicken underneath. The beans weren't bad, but the chicken was super salty. Very heavily seasoned with what is probably the same seasoning they put on their chips - some sort of seasoned salt concoction. My woman reported her margarita to be "super mix-y." My beer was cold, though. Like I said, this place just isn't too our taste but it seems to be great for others. And that's fine. Been here a few times. Looks like a hole in the wall type place but is a decent go-to when craving Mexican food without the usual wait. Chips and salsa are good and they bring a cup of pinto beans out as well that is always hot and tasty. I've tried most things there but always judge on cheese enchiladas. this place is more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. i recently moved to grapevine and back in fort worth there was a mexican place i really enjoyed going to. And here in grapevine i was on a mission to find a new mexican spot i could call my own. I drive by this place many times on my way to work, and stopped in last weekend to check it out. When i got there, it was really crowded inside, but luckily there was an open table so i didn't need to wait. we ended up getting flautas and enchiladas along with a cup of horchata. While we waited for the food to come, they came by and served us chips and salsa. the food didn't take too long to arrive. Both entrees were great, but i feel like they're a tiny bit overpriced for what we got. The service was great, our waiter came by fairly often to check on us. I don't know when they painted the outside, but its not yellow anymore. I'll definitely be back to try the other items. read more

We love Los Amigos! It's a great value, close to where we live, with good service and really good food! They recently painted the outside of the building, changing it from yellow to white. Not a lot of changed inside, it's still more of a rustic / old Mexican restaurant look. However, It's clean, and well-maintained. Typically, you can just go in and pick where you want to sit. They have a great menu, check it out here in the app. We love the Parrillada! It's a huge portion of chicken, steak, shrimp & sausage served on a hot skillet (fajita style) with onions & peppers. It comes with a bowl of bean soup, refried beans and rice. You can order it for one or two people, however, we can barely eat the portion for one person! Of course, chips and sauce are included with all your meal, at no additional cost. The chips are thin, hot and crisp. Love their salsa, just the right amount of bite and flavor! It may not fully deserve 5 stars, but for what it is, that's our rating. If you haven't been there lately, you really need to come back. Went here with our dinner group. The food was mid and the atmosphere lacking. Their HVAC system could use some work as every time a sizzling platter came out, everyone had to breathe the steam. Very odd. Also, they were out of avocado. At a Mexican restaurant. WUT?! But let me tell you about the service. My ten month old son was being a pretty charming little guy. Wearing his bib and keeping the floor clean. Taking sips of his water and trying to eat a tortilla chip. The waitress then put down a plate that was approximately 1000 degrees right in front of him. I went to snatch the plate away, but it was too hot for me to touch, so I quickly grabbed a napkin. Alas, I wasn't quick enough and my son touched the plate. He screamed in pain and I grabbed him out of the high chair to check his hands and go outside to comfort him. There didn't seem to be any major damage, but he was hurt and scared and spent the rest of the dinner whimpering. The waitress asked if he was okay, rather perfunctorily, I thought. A manager never came over. Overall, a very bad experience. I wanted to give this small business a chance, but I think we'll continue going to Esparza's. read more

This place is a hole in the wall and I loooove me a good hole in the wall. I don't want fancy plates with okay-ish food, I want a homey atmosphere and friendly service and amazing food. Their street tacos are so good, perfect size with rice and beans. My friend loves the chicken fajita flautas, and she's been coming to this place for 20+ years. You even get a free beer or margarita with your food. But. None of that compares to the amazing salsa. I had to order a pint to go. It's some of the best salsa I've ever had. It's like salsa and pico had a baby, and they don't cook it. I cannot stand cooked salsa. The point of salsa is fresh. I was already convinced when I pulled up to the eye catching, bright yellow building that this would be one of my new favorite, local hole-in-the-wall Tex-Mex restaurants. This was further affirmed upon walking in to find a kitschy interior space decorated with random artifacts and mural covered walls. But looks can be deceiving... Everything served before the entrees kept me hopeful that my initial assessment was accurate. The warm chips were noticeably freshly made. The salsa was mild enough to suit even the youngest diners without compromising flavor. The verde salsa I was given, after requesting something hotter, turned out to be equally as tasty. They even provided everyone with small bowls of charro beans to whet our palates just before the arrival of the entrees. However, the entrees themselves left something to be desired. The pulled chicken in the chimichanga, chalupas and enchiladas that we ordered had no detectable seasoning. The accompanying queso, guacamole, rice and beans had just a hint more yet still not enough. It's a shame that the entrees were less than stellar because a little spice could have gone a long way. Although some of the food was a little uninspiring it was not a terrible experience overall. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable. After a three year 'boycott' for previous food issues I decided to give this place a try again. Again, the bean soup is great. They present a small cup to you upon ordering, tho I could have a bowl of them as a full meal. Again, the home made hot sauce is SUPERB. Like made in a molcajete. During lunch I went with the two enchiladas - choosing chicken with salsa verde. Plenty of chicken and plentiful sauce on top. Rice and beans were not bad, tho if it were me I'd suggest to the chef some garlic and comino in the rice to take it to the next level. If I had to find something it would be the less then friendly waitress; otherwise pleased with this visit and will return. read more

The highlight was the salsa; clearly fresh made that day, it burst with garden flavor. The chips were fresh and warm. Everything we tried was bland. Particularly the queso. Tried a variety of enchiladas. The best were the cheese enchiladas with cheese sauce and the chicken sour cream. If they'd let the cheese enchiladas cook longer to meld the flavors and soften the tortilla, they'd have been pretty good. Didn't care for the beef enchiladas at all. I found the ground beef stuffing to have an odd flavor I didn't care for. The chili con carne sauce on enchiladas really reminded me of Wolf brand chili. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but we've had much better. Sides of refried beans and rice were fine, sort of standard issue tex mex, but bland like the other dishes. read more

Definitely a good place for authentic Mexican food. Crazy busy and still decent service. I wish the severs were a tad more attentive as we ran out of drinks often but they kept our chips and salsa filled. The food was good but not great only because it was a tad bland. My boyfriend & I always tend to migrate towards mexican food as it's one of our favorite foods. We've passed by this place numerous times but finally decided to give it a try. It was quiet, though about half the restaurant was full. My boyfriend & I easily were able to converse without raising our voices.
