I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was at this little place in a gas station parking lot. I ordered the taco plate with 3 carne asada tacos and my son got the same with chicken. We got them the traditional way with onions and cilantro. The meat was cooked perfectly and there was no gristle or fat on it. I also appreciated that the onions were grilled, which gives the tacos a richer flavor. The only meh item was the beans which lacked any flavor and were pretty thin. They brought fresh chips and salsa while we waited and generously refilled it after our entrees arrived. I don't know if they offer full service now because I didn't see anyone go to the cashier to pay. I asked for the check and it was brought to the table. The interior of the restaurant is very traditionally Mexican. The ambiance is more taqueria than sit down restaurant. The booths are comfortable, but worn. The place is a bit dingy, which didn't bother me. I will definitely be bringing the rest of my family here for an inexpensive and tasty meal. read more

this place is more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. Located right off the freeway, in the same plaza as gulf gas station. we ended up getting a lengua burrito and breakfast (huevos rancheros). Both items were about 10 bucks each, and they were really filling. before the food came, they gave us chips with salsa. they also brought out additional sauce (red and green) and i have to say, the green sauce is extremely delicious. i ended up using it for the chips and the food. it does have a kick, but not too bad. The huevos rancheros came with three eggs. along with rice and beans and your choice of flour or corn tortilla. The burrito was good, but the lengua was a bit dry... We also ended up getting horchata and it was pretty good. rich cinnamon flavor. Friendly workers and servers. Also, when you need to pay, you walk up to the counter. This little spot at the end of our street is truly a hidden gem. It may look like a hole in the wall, but the food is some of the best Mexican I've ever had--always fresh, flavorful, and comforting, like it was made by someone's abuela. One thing I love, an independent hole in the wall, serving excellent tacos. Two things I hate, crappy service and burnt food. I came in with my friend, early evening on a Saturday. It was not busy when we walked in, just three tables occupied. There were two women at the counter and no one said anything to us. There was no sign to seat yourself so we just stood there for a bit. Finally I started walking toward the women at the counter and one just said "anywhere". Ok. We ordered something to drink and both got taco plates. Chips, and salsa were brought out, and they were decent. No heat with the salsa but it had good flavor. Tougher we ordered barbacoa, fajita, carnitas, and tripe tacos. The only ones not burnt were the barbacoa and fajita. And we are talking black and crunchy, burnt. The kitchen sent that out. The fajita taco was average, but the barbacoa was actually really tasty. That and the chips and salsa were the only things worth coming for. The hot sauces were just ok. No one ever came back to the table, we just went up to the counter, paid and left. The service from young gentleman was great. My husband got a michelada and it was good. We both ordered Caldo de Res and it was horrible! I have been craving authentic Mexican food since my recent trip to Mexico. Fortunately while looking for restaurants open late night I found this place (thanks Yelp). Now I'm ready to go back and back back. The portions here are huge! My chicken fajita can feed two people, the torta doesn't look big but trust me it's stuffed my boy friend was only able to eat half. The salsas here are SOOO good i honestly could eat that with just chips all day. The food tasted so good and fresh and honestly came out faster than expected. I will say a warning for when you order the Agua Frescas they are sugar galore but also perfect way to cool down your mouth when eating spicy foods. Food was alright. Someone recommended this place as authentic mexican food and the food was alright, not amazing but the service made it worse. I finished eating and no one approached me until i got up 30 minutes later and asked for the check. If thats the policy of the restaurant then maybe someone should have explained that. Found this spot on the way home from the mall! Great place. Gives salsa and chips. The salsa is fresh and delicious! Our server only spoke Spanish and that's how I knew it was gonna be good. I ordered tacos (pastor, tripa, and lengua). They were all delicious! I liked how the tripa was soft yet crunchy. Perfect. The pastor had lots of flavor I feel like I could taste the pineapple. For the lengua I liked the texture of it. The green salsa was my favorite. I liked this place because other taco places I've been they charge more for getting tripa or lengua. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and all the sauces were great! My favorite was the beef fajita..omg the best flavor and perfectly cooked and it was cut in small pieces so it was so easy to chew. The rice was good, the beans were just ok (I don't really like beans anyway, my husband really liked the beans he said they were really good). The price for all of this food was only $20! I found this place on Yelp, and I must say I was pretty disappointed. The staff is friendly & the place looks pretty clean. They have various menu options, & the price is pretty fair. However, the food overall lacked flavor. The salsa tasted like watered down tomato soup. I ordered beef tacos which comes with a side of beans and rice. The beef tacos were pretty good, I added the green salsa to them which did add a little kick to them. I was not a fan of the beans, they looked and tasted as though they were beans from a can and the rice was pretty bland. I also ordered a milanesa torta to try it out, and I was not a fan whatsoever. The meat just tasted a bit too hard. Perhaps it just wasn't fresh. Though the food portions are pretty big, it's just not a place I would eat at again. read more

We stopped by for breakfast today (Sunday, March 8 at 11 am). I'm giving this place a 1 star because the menudo was good. Overall, food is ok but not great. But our experience was the worst. I brought my husband here for the first time, should've read the reviews first. Worst experience by far. The service is really bad. Unless you are a regular customer or local, don't expect to get good service. We asked for a refill on our cup of coffee... waitress never bothered to come back. Instead she started making juices while we watched the other waitress serve the other customers coming in and they also got refills in their coffee. This has already been a 20 minute wait for coffee alone. ‍ By this time we are now waiting for coffee and tortillas to go with our food but by the time she came back, our food was cold, husband filled up on water so no longer wanted coffee and I basically just lost my appetite. Not once during the 30 mins now Did she bother to even turn our way. The other waitress passed by us many times. Don't servers help each other out??? I would've continued going back because the food is good, but not the greatest. This experience really ruined our breakfast. Flour tortillas are NOT homemade, corn tortillas are good and they do need to clean a little better. There are other local Mexican restaurants if you need a recommendation. Next visit I will skip on the free chips and salsa as the tortilla chips were bland and the salsa tasted like cocktail sauce with bits of cilantro. This spot has decent food but the customer service and restaurant etiquette is almost nonexistent. I was there and placed some napkins in my bag, and was told I had to many and the cashier took half of the backs hi he left me with four. Also they do not serve you ice water with your meal. You are given a bottle of filtered water and charged for it. Their to go salsas are served in one ounce containers and most of the time aren't filled fully. The food is ok but not good enough to sway me back from the treatment or lack thereof by the staff. Gotta do better folks. read more
