Great place to sit at the bar: enjoy an adult beverage and their chips & salsa. Uncle Julio's chips are warm and on the thinner side that I like. My guy had a classic margarita on the rocks and I had the seasonal margarita which was fantastic (agave house sour, muddled cranberries, Lunazul and St Germaine). I'll go back for the seasonal margarita several times before it goes off the menu.

Tortilla soup was okay, a bit salty same as shrimp fajitas. Price is too high compared to quality of products. Service is good. The atmosphere is nice and very traditional. Perhaps if needs remodeling.

Totally enjoyed trying this restaurant out. It was a busy Mother's Day afternoon and the staff was on their A-game. We were seated immediately and the young lady who served us was awesome. She was friendly and efficient. She got our orders and constantly checked in to see if we were doing fine and if we needed anything else. The manager met with all the guests to ensure great service. The drinks menu has a good selection of margaritas, beer and wine options. Watermelon margarita was the drink the month. Chips are served with 2 kinds of salsa - the smokey bbq salsa was different & unique. Enchiladas and tacos are what we ordered and the food tasted great. The ice cream ball for dessert was amazing - definitely shareable. Ambiance of the restaurant was upscale and spacious. Lots of parking available. Would recommend making a reservation for evenings and special occasions. Pricing : Moderate high Will I return? : For sure!

The service was good! Even with a huge party! They did amazing! The best thing about this place is that they had my favorite beer Tecate!! And the shrimp stuffed poblano was surprisingly good! Everything else way below par! I had the barbacoa plate! I won't be getting that again!! All the salas were not even spicy!! The enchiladas and steaks meals were not good!

This 5 star review was for one reason- Our waiter! We frequent this location regularly solely for our steak fajita fix. While Uncle Julio's is by far our favorite place to get them, I'll admit they are not always super consistent with the cook. Never bad, just some visits they are better than others. Today we had just an ok experience with the food. It was still yummy. But our waiter was hands down the best we've ever had here! He was very kind, attentive, polite, thoughtful and SUPER on top of everything! He said his name was Jaden (or Jayden sp?) So if you find yourself here soon- ask for a table in his section! He was FANTASTIC!!

The steak nachos were recommended by a friend and we were quite delicious. After studying the choices of margaritas available; I decided on hell freezes over. Not only was it fun; the dry eyes lasted forever; it was extremely tasty. The wait staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. Well seasoned steak and soft, flavorful tortillas made for an excellent dinner, one I almost didn't have, since I was so busy filling up on the very good chips and various salsas. The ambiance is good: a bit loud, but that's no big deal, especially since I went on a Friday night. The service was inconsistent, unfortunately. We didn't see our waiter for long periods of time, and then he was replaced by another waiter, and then we waited a long time for drinks and to place our orders. Overall, the next time I head back to Mi Dia, I'll get a reservation on the patio and will leave plenty of room for the salsa.

We got the asada street taco plate, a couple of extra beef fajita street tacos and the Popeye's enchiladas. The tacos were okay. But the enchiladas were a little disappointing. I got the cheese one and it was supposed to be in a spinach cream mushroom sauce. All of the cheese was not fully cooked through and the spinach wasn't cooked or in the sauce. Just thrown on top. There was no flavor to the sauce at all so it was very disappointing. I'd be willing to try again and maybe this was an off day for them.

Any port in a storm, as they say. We have tried to like this place but just can't. The HVAC on the roof was thumping and rattling, making the whole ceiling of the dining area thump and shake. The lights were shaking as was our table. The salsa that came with the chips was really off, watered down and tasteless. I asked for a spicier one, which was a little more flavorful but also watered down. When our nachos came out, we were greeted by a pile of chips heavily coated in mostly melted, not great, probably fake, cheddar cheese. There was a layer of refried beans and grilled chicken underneath. The beans weren't bad, but the chicken was super salty. Very heavily seasoned with what is probably the same seasoning they put on their chips - some sort of seasoned salt concoction. My woman reported her margarita to be "super mix-y." My beer was cold, though. Like I said, this place just isn't too our taste but it seems to be great for others. And that's fine. If you come here just try not to sit directly under the thumping HVAC vent. I don't know how long it will hold. 02.23.25

Mesa's is just a few minutes drive from Gaylord so it is super convenient. The ambience is pleasant and open and in general it was fine. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seats and parking outside. I did not get a "homey" feel but that may be just me. Our server was attentive and efficient. No problems or complaints. The free chips and salsa were good but not outstanding. The salsa was warm and obviously homemade, but it lacked kick. It was tasty but not "OMG this is good." I started with a cup of Roberto's queso which is the standard queso cheese with some ground beef, pico, and a tablespoon of guacamole. It too was good but not outstanding. I am not sure what it was missing but there was something that was needed. I had the two beef tacos and they were just average. Not much flavor or anything distinctive. The ground beef was not well seasoned so they were kind of bland. The rice and black beans were also kind of bland. Frankly, my tacos at home are better. The wife had the taco salad and liked it, although it did not come with any dressing. She used the salsa. Not sure if that was an oversight or that is the way the salad is served. She was also happy that they serve Negro Modelo on tap, so she was happy. The kid had nachos with black beans and cheese and did not complain. Overall, the meal was fine, nothing was terrible, but nothing really stood out as a compelling reason to return.

On…read moreone hand, it's nice to have the dining room and server pretty much all to yourselves, but at the same time the lack of patrons certainly arouses suspicion. Such was the case recently when we paid a visit to Mesa. The first order of business was getting an appetizer to go with the chips and salsa. Upon the server's recommendation we got the queso Blanco. It was quite possibly the blandest queso I have ever eaten. At this point I started to worry that it was a sign of things to come. However, the extra spicy salsa that we also requested to go with the chips was more flavorful and gave me hope for the entrees. The good news is that my chicken and cheese enchiladas turned out to be better than the insipid appetizer. The not so good news is that it was still a mediocre meal. The rest of my family had mixed feelings about their food. My husband, who got 2 beef enchiladas, said his were overly salty but otherwise average. The bacon wrapped shrimp that my mother got were a little overcooked but she liked the sides. Both of my sons' entrees, the Mesa burrito and the chicken strips, were very well received. People like to say that even when pizza is bad it's still good. For me, that also applies to Tex-Mex. But, considering the plethora options out there, I doubt I will be returning anytime soon.

Yet, for the longest time, Baja Mex Grill did just that by serving the strongest margaritas in town. In fact, I had always heard that there was a limit of 2 per person. Although it may have only been a rumor, it was a good policy nonetheless (I speak from experience!) Even if margaritas weren't your thing, the food still held it's own. Basically, you couldn't go wrong with a visit here no matter your preferences. I don't know exactly when or how many times the ownership changed over the years, but apart from the name, nothing about this place is the same today. It was immediately evident upon being served chips and queso that both seemed like they came straight from a package. The extra hot salsa we requested turned out to be a creamy, green concoction that had a jalapeno-y flavor, but somehow still wasn't spicy. I will give them credit, however, for a very tasty regular salsa that appeared to be made in house. For my entree I ordered the Picante Enchiladas. Contrary to what the name implies there was no detectable heat. Furthermore, the grilled chicken on top had the distinct flavor of a frozen version made by Kroger. Once again, that prepackaged element reared it's ugly head. My husband and sons were mostly underwhelmed by their meals as well. The phrase "I've had better" was echoed around the table. And, they aren't normally a picky bunch! Our server brought everything out quickly, checked on us often, and kept our drinks topped up throughout our meal. So kudos to him! I have said this before, but it bears repeating. The Tex Mex arena is far too competitive for mediocre food like they serve here. It's a shame that a place I once considered to be 4-5 star establishment barely earns 3 stars now.
