The inside reminds me of most of the Tex-Mex themed restaurants in Dallas. The FESTIVE colors, chairs & booth seating, bar photos on the wall. Service to the table was nothing exceptional. After scanning the menu, I ordered the trio fajita which is steak, chicken, and shrimp. I wanted to be able to pick my meat combo. I really just wanted the Chicken and Shrimp. Luckily, the Mister was able to eat the beef. They came sizzling! The Chicken was tender and the marinade was not over-powering. The shrimp was cooked but very fishy. I squeezed fresh lemon on it and it pulled out the intended flavor. I was not particularly awed with garnishments. I wanted shredded lettuce and maybe my choice of beans black or pinto. Nonetheless, the overall plate was good and I RECOMMEND for anyone looking for a high protein meal. The chips and dip came out first with both salsa and a bean dip. My new favorite Tex Mex restaurant. Love the fajitas. It was my wife's and my first time here. Kayla gave us fantastic service. Ample seating with festive birthday. The manager also came and gave us free beef fajita samples since he found out it was our first time. The flavor and juiciness of the beef blew me away. My wife and I got queso to compliment the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa and bean dips. I was a big fan of the beans too, didn't think I would be. We ended up getting a trio (beef, chicken, shrimp) fajita 1/2 pound and it was perfect for the 2 of us. You can taste the grilled and charred flavor on the meats. The chicken and shrimp were slightly on the drier side but when combined with the sour cream, beans, guac, cheese, they were perfection. For the two people, the limitation ended up being more the toppings to the fajitas but it was just enough. At about $25 for 2, that was a steal. The queso was about $9. On our way back from Asia, my husband and I had a stop through the DFW area and immediately decided that we needed to take advantage of being back near a region that really knows Mexican food. Living in Sioux Falls has many positives, but distinct and deeply flavorful Mexican cuisine is unfortunately still something that's a little harder to come by compared to places like Arizona or Texas. So, we made it a point to stop at Lupe Tortilla while passing through Irving. The first thing we noticed was how packed the restaurant was during lunch. People were pouring in steadily, and the atmosphere had that energetic local favorite feeling where you know people come because they genuinely enjoy the food. Thankfully, the meal itself delivered. Now, was it the absolute best Mexican food I've ever had? No. But it was still leagues beyond most of what we've experienced lately back home in South Dakota. The carne asada especially stood out. The portion was massive, tender, and packed with smoky, savory flavor. You could immediately tell it had actually spent some time on a grill instead of simply being rushed out of a kitchen. We also enjoyed the tacos, enchiladas, and burritos, all of which had that comforting Tex-Mex richness and seasoning that we've really missed. Unfortunately, we were on a fairly tight travel schedule and couldn't linger the way we would have liked. I saw the same thing during my first visit at the Fort Worth location, so it seems to be an ongoing staffing issue. Even guests with reservations were told they'd still have to wait while tables were cleaned. For my party of two, the wait was roughly 30-35 minutes. Once seated, though, the experience picked up. Our server was friendly and efficient, and the food came out quickly. I always enjoy the salsa, beans, and chips -- the beans have great depth of flavor, and the chips are light and crisp. I ordered the Spicy Red Enchilada, which had a nice kick without being overwhelming. The red sauce leans more tomato-based than I prefer, but the roasted chicken helped round out the dish. It's something about the lime marinated meats especially the beef, that keep me coming back to Lupe Tortilla. I typically come to the Irving location when I land at DFW. It's in a retail/restaurant area, so there's plenty of parking. I wish I could say how good everything is, but I typically always get the 1/2 steak fajitas. I will say the I've had the Chipotle smoked ribs a few times and they are really good too. But the flavor and tenderness of the steak fajitas, is what keeps me coming back. The beans for your chips are pretty good too. I typically always sit at the bar where the service can be a little hit or miss, but I've never had an major issues. I wish I had more pictures but the whole process of getting my catering order was too complicated. My order was not there when I went to pick it up, was told it was out for delivery. Well once I get back to the office I get a call saying it was at the restaurant, they did however take off the delivery fee for the misunderstanding. But I ordered catering for around 60 people and didn't like it was enough food, the chicken was also dry but the steak was decent. Terrible experience today. We arrived at 11:00 AM when they opened. We ordered about 10 minutes after we were seated. 30 minutes later the manager came to our table to inform us that whatever machine they use to make the chip for the lunch salad was broken and if we would like to wait or order something else. We said the Chip really wasn't that important so we would just take the salads without the chip. During our 30 minute wait a table of two ladies we're seated next to us and ordered a few minutes after they sat down. Their food of fajitas and an enchilada plate came out soon after they ordered. Meanwhile, 45 minutes later, the lady brings our food two lunch salads and one fajita taco. We asked to speak to the manager. It takes a while for him to come over and when he does, I don't even recall him apologizing for the 45 minute wait. All he said is oh I had no idea it had been that long. Would you like me to bring you some to go boxes? We said yes and the waitress brought to go boxes and the bill. I told her that he said he would take care of it and we assumed the BILL, but apparently he was talking about getting to go boxes to our table. I told the waitress we were not paying for this order as we had been here almost an hour. My daughter needed to get back to work. None of us had eaten, and there was no way that we should be charged for this food. She went back and talked to the manager, and he finally agreed to cop our food. The manager absolutely did not seem to care that we have been waiting almost an hour for our food and was willing to do nothing about it to make things better. I actually felt kind of bad for the waitress having to bring out food to another table after we have been waiting 45 minutes for hours, and they were already getting served. I've been to several Lupe Tortilla locations and generally everything is great. Today though, wow. Everyone who was seated after us were served. I finally saw our server again and asked how much longer and he said he'd check on it. Another server showed up with someone elses order to which we kindly said this isn't our order, and away she went. The food took 40 min to show up which was very unusual for them. The Mgr came by to do a how's everything check as usual. We told her we just got it and haven't had the chance to take a bite yet. She said "well your ticket time doesn't look bad". She then just non chalantly walked off. We weren't trying to get anyone in trouble, a comp or anything like that. She asked how everything was and I told her. We finished our meal and waited about another 15 min before I went to look for our server to get our check as I needed to get back to work. When I finally found him and asked for the check he appeared put out and said here handing it to me. Again, I wasn't being any way that would indicate I was upset. I just needed to leave. I started walking back to the table and he said "here" ! and pointed to where take out usually is to ring me up. Mmmmokay, he rang it up and pointed at the cc machine and walked off. Bravo Lupe! Father's Day disaster with a refusal to seat a party of 6 at The Ranch brought us here and we are not mad! Well, not at Lupe anyway. Super crowded of course as it was Sunday lunch but everyone was welcoming, kind and honestly seemed happy to see us. So much customer service. You guys at The Ranch might come get a master class on service here? The kitchen was busy, but we were advised and food came quickly enough to make us all happy and it was hot. I visited Lupe Tortilla in Irving, Texas, while in Dallas for work, and I couldn't miss the chance to return to one of my favorites from my time living in Houston. My friend recommended it as our meetup spot, and it did not disappoint! The fajitas are simply incredible. I opted for the steak fajitas, perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor. The enormous flour tortillas are a highlight for me; I know you can get corn, but I absolutely love the flour ones. They're just huge and delicious! We also enjoyed the perfect margaritas--three of them, to be exact. Sorry, not sorry! They were amazing. Customer service was good and the ambiance is always lively!! Hot sauce was tasteless. No flavor and when I asked for the other sauce , manager came out and told me they discontinued it. they took away the good hot sauce and left the tasteless one to be served. His solution was to bring me a chopped Serrano peppers and later on I saw that I was charged for it which he failed to mentioned it will be an additional cost. I saw a comment card for my check number that they filled out and placed it face down at the bottom and it was hidden by my check. I just happened to notice it and flipped it. I like the warm, comfy decor and how spacious it is for large grops. We loved their skinny margaritas with light and refreshing fresh lime flavor. Everyone loved the food too ... So many options with the lunch and brunch menu offerings! The pecan praline pancakes were yumm... huge, almost a foot in diameter, served rolled up with pecans and syrup. We come here almost every week. I mean, we are very frequent customers. But today I got a little irritated at the hostess for lying to me. We came in, asked for a booth and were taken to a table. There was literally an open booth right next to the table. Asked if we could sit there instead. Hostess said that booth was in a "closed section for the day". Ok so we sit at the table and not ten minutes later the very next people brought in were taken to that booth and it was being waited on by the same server we had. I realize this is a trivial issue, but I don't like being lied to. That's not a good look for any customers, much less your regular ones.
