LaMargarita never disappoints! My nephew had to wait on his window tint over at a car dealership in Irving so I picked him up. He said he was hungry for Mexican food so I zipped him over to LaMargarita for lunch. I was sad I had already eaten because I sure would have gotten the Polo Maria, they're specialty dish. It's amazing. The nephew ordered the chicken quesadilla and the dish is HUGE for only $14! That quesadilla was so packed with gooey cheese and tender seasoned chicken. The guacamole was fresh and so tasty. Meals come with chips and fresh salsa. The salsa had great flavor with just the right amount of spice. I'm definitely doubling back in June for that Polo Maria and some guacamole with my chips. Great service overall. Went for lunch. From the San Antonio area, so we have a few options when it comes to Mexican food. Here's the honest opinion: Excellent salsa (served warm) and chips. Tortilla soup was very good. Chimichanga was very good and well presented. Burrito Santa Fe was huge and also very well presented. Bathrooms were clean. Restaurant was clean, modern and well decorated. Good atmosphere. I was very pleasantly surprised for a strip center eatery. Wait staff were very prompt, friendly and attentive. Value for the money was very good. Came here for a late lunch while we were in the area. Prior to today we hadn't been here since around 2010. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entry. The atmosphere is vibrant in color and nicely laid back. The restrooms were also brightly colored, well lit and clean. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Our food came out quick and was so good. Everything was seasoned really well and a good temperature. I was so happy that my fond memories of this restaurant weren't tarnished and the food / service was just as good as before. I'd certainly come back here again if we're in the area again. read more

While I'm not a fan of their warm salsa, the food itself is always really good and different from TexMex. Their margaritas are delicious. Most recently had the taco salad looking for a light lunch and the beef fajita meat was good but not very plentiful. This is a good stand out restaurant with some elevated dishes. read more

Ok people let's talk about Legendary tortilla soup. The broth tasted like it was tomato forward based. Although this is not out of the norm in chicken soups it is not what I am accustomed to eating as tortilla soup. This is soup is not flavored as I think it should to in part the best flavor profile to enhance the other ingredients such as the chicken. The tomato muddles the flavor. The addition of potatoes and masa did not lend any additional flavor to this soup. Cooks/chefs at this location needs to try and gain a lesson from those who prepare the most delicious tortilla soup at Ojeda(a family style and maybe owned establishment.) located in Desoto Texas. I ordered the "duck carnitas ". When I saw this I thought "what the hell" how can duck and pig((pork)) exist in this dish? Who knows how it will taste.‍ the meat in them tasted like pork that has a sweet glaze or marinade. Duck would not be stringy but would have been cooked on the rare side like a medium steak. The spinach enchiladas were ok they lacked salt. And, the sauce on top was thick and creamy but the spinach inside needed to have been cut finer. The chef left them whole leaf which made them hard to cut with a fork and eat. The white corn tortillas were not warmed enough prior to serving. The seasoning on the spinach was excellent. The restaurant decorated as a Mexican cafe was lovely. There is a mural on a wall and there are niches with the sun image that are bright and cheery. I came here because of the name and left here with a sense of closure. Meaning definitely all Mexican restaurants are not equal. Will I come to this location again? Not in the near future. Will I recommend to an enemy? Yes to a friend? Yes with a caveat to read reviews prior to visiting. Happy eating people ! Enjoy life and pleasures. read more

My yelp family did not lead me astray! and La Margarita did not disappoint! It was outstanding! As shared from others, the salsa is served warm which I feel is always a good sign. The tortilla chips were also great, and I got a cup of the queso, which was creamy and pretty typical. The popular Pollo Maria dish is just the same as pictured and described, if not better in real life! It's a generous serving so you can come hungry or share! The chicken and the chipotle mash were both so delicious. The creamy sauce that blankets about 75% of the plate is just divine. Even the veggie medley (probably squash) on top was nice. I dined in for my Thanksgiving Eve tex mex tradition, and the service was good. All workers wore masks and were friendly or attentive. I didn't go into the bar area towards the back, but the overall restaurant was clean with booth dividers and plenty of tables. I'd be happy to return and explore more of the menu! Food was good. Needed a little salt but would rather add a touch than it be too salty. Clean, nicely decorated, price was reasonable, personnel were friendly, and enjoyed my meal. Right off the bat, the salsa and chips were tremendous. The salsa comes served warm, medium spice, and is a flavorful explosion. It's hard not to stuff your face on chips and salsa before your meal arrives. The main dishes were really good. All prepared in traditional Mexican style. The Enchiladas and Tacos al carbon were the two standout dishes. The enchiladas were perfection. Nice flavor to the gravy and stuffed full of meat. Tacos polanco were good as well although a little on the dry side. Staff were super friendly and fast. Overall this was a perfect meal and well deserving of the 5 stars. read more

The food here is very good! I've had several of their different selections. Service here has always been very good. The staff are very nice and friendly. They are very attentive with customers. I have taken my parents several times. They are elderly late 80's. They have been so patient with them. That's a big plus for me! The place is nice and clean. La Margarita is a great restaurant for a low-key date night, but it's also a great space for a family outing or with friends. My first time here and I wanted to try something different than the typical Mexican food. I went with the Salmon Masaryk and it did not disappoint. Was looking for a new restaurant for my birthday lunch and came across La Margarita. I ordered their lunch special and unfortunately it gave me food poisoning! I had two enchiladas, one beef and one cheese, and a beef taco with rice and refried beans. I was sick for 2-3 days, and don't think I'll be going back. This place was a surprisingly great little find. We had no expectations going in, as it was our back-up choice that night. Located in a nondescript strip mall, it didn't even look like the little clichéd "hole in the wall." The chips & salsa were very good, although be warned that it's one of those places that serves the salsa "warmed up" & I know most of like it chilled. So that was a bit of an unwelcome finding. The menu was extensive & contained food choices that you don't see in many strip mall Mexican food joints: Duck. Quail. Chicken & Salmon with hearts of palm cream sauce. Plenty of standard Mexican & Tex-Mex fare too. Most types of Mexican food fans can find something here, from the most basic "gimme some queso & a bean burrito" to the most adventurous types who always want to try something new. Unassuming from the outside, this place is absolutely incredible. The drinks are all variations and takes on a margarita, and let me tell you, that sign out front isn't for nothing. The food is truly incredible, Oaxaca style mexican food. Clean vegetables, incredible sauces and delicious meats as the star. I tried the chicken xochitl and the banana leaf wrapped salmon. Both had absolutely outstanding sauces and incredible flavors and spices. The salsa is spicy, chunky and served warm, which is a personal favorite of mine.
