Phenomenal service, amazing food, and great music! El Viejón delivers an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, the food was absolutely delicious--full of flavor and authenticity--and the music created the perfect atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a great meal with great vibes. I'll definitely be coming back!

I enjoyed a tostada and a salad from El Viejon. The service was good and the restaurant was quiet and clean. The pricing was reasonable and the food was very filling. I would definitely go back!

A second, dine-in visit provided more reasons NOT to return than to return: - Prices for most things are far too high when considering location and ambiance--I mean we're not talking "fine dining". - Margarita prices are very vague and I was passed a "tequila menu" to choose from. Confused, I chose one of the cheaper options only to find out after getting bill that my margarita was $18.95! Is this Via Real?!? If so, take some lessons from them on how to make a quality margarita since this one was not $18.95 material. - 3% service charge over posted prices for using a credit card. Didn't realize that on last visit. You do that, you're telling me you never want me to return. Food was good. Just not THAT good. I will say that the entree I received was large enough for 2, which would have made the $27.50 more reasonable. But if that's the intent, mention it on the menu. But I'm not sharing a nearly $25 margarita (after tax, tip and service charge).

Walking into El Viejon in Irving instantly took me back to a seafood spot I loved in California, Uruapan in Mira Loma. The vibes were just right, and the Mariscos? Absolutely top-tier. Every dish tasted fresh and flavorful, delivering that authentic coastal Mexican flair that's hard to find inland. What really stood out was the portion size generous without being overwhelming. This place definitely doesn't skimp, and it's refreshing to see a restaurant that gives you great value without cutting corners. The service? Impeccable. Friendly, attentive, and fast--everything you'd want to keep you coming back. El Viejon has other locations around the metroplex, but if you're in the Irving area, this one's a standout. If you're craving Mariscos, make this your next stop. I know I'll be back for more.

Great mariscos. The tostada El Viejon was my favorite. The fried shring and fries were good too. Playlist on point.

They have a pretty good selection of beers and of liquors (I presume wine, too, but I didn't check). While there are "bourbon bars" with a wider bourbon selection or "gin bars" with a wider gin selection, they have an above average selection of each, and they don't charge absurd up charges for choosing the liquor you like. The bartender is very polite. There's ample seating at the bar, and you can also take your drink to some loungy-er chairs in the nearby part of the hotel lobby. All in all, a solid bar.

You walk in and the bar is to your right. It was about 6 and no one was at the bar. There was a group of guys discussing something over drinks in the lounge area but that was about it. The bartender came right up to my boyfriend and I. I told the bartender my boyfriend had never been to Texas so we tried out essentially every tap by sampling which was nice that he offered that up. After we tried each beer we decided on some options. The bartender went back to texting in the corner and we sat at the bar listening to the music playing in the open concept lobby/bar area We eventually took over the seating area that group was in because the couches looked more cozy than the bar. The happy hour advertised is not a thing anymore, they now have reverse happy hour from 9-10. The beers weren't too expensive as our tab was only $13 which I doable. The bartender disappeared from the bar for a fair amount of time which made me anxious because I used to be a bartender, I guess he trusted we wouldn't leave without paying. He didnt come check on us to see if we needed another beer but that was ok I guess. I went back up to the bar to cash out and that was that. This bar is good for a quick drink but I wouldn't probably go for a top notch bar experience.

This…read morearea has become of gem of a location in DFW for dining, and Monaco brings a truly elevated and upscale experience to the area. This is my updated review. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Monaco is one of the prettiest restaurants in all of DFW. Dark wood and dark blue seating invite you in. The bar is stunning, with back lighting highlighting their drinks. There's also an outdoor seating area, including a wind shield - perfect when the weather is nice. This is a great spot for a weekend date night if you want something outside of Dallas. 1 Star. Service - Everyone was very nice. We were never rushed, all dishes could be customized to order, and I never had to ask for a refill. Nothing but good people here. 1 Star. Food - Let me start by saying presentation matters, and the dishes at Monaco are great for your Instagram or Yelp feed. I started with the roasted oysters. I chose it because the description said the oysters are "topped with bone marrow butter". That, combined with the roasted breadcrumbs, added a nice crunchy and smooth texture to the delicious oysters. For my main, I went with the Salmon St. Harve. This beautiful dish had a perfectly prepared salmon. Soft and flaky, but with a crunch from the skin at the bottom. It was served on top of grilled asparagus and topped with a cream sauce that brought everything together. Delicious. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. It's not a secret that I love Water Street. This is an awesome area in the heart of DFW, and I'm so happy there is an upscale restaurant like Monaco that has amazing food. 1 Star.

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it was a miss…read more I started with the beet carpaccio, which was actually enjoyable. The portion was fair and the ingredients felt fresh. The vinaigrette leaned very citrusy, which overpowered the dish a bit, but I couldn't help thinking that adding some goat cheese would balance it beautifully and elevate the whole plate. Then came the pasta bolognese... and that's where things went downhill fast. The ricotta was completely flavorless, the meat was tough, and overall the dish lacked seasoning. It was honestly one of the most disappointing bolognese dishes I've had. One more thing that really stood out: the interior has carpet flooring. In a food establishment, that feels deeply unhygienic and off-putting. 1/5 stars -- a strong start with the appetizer, but the main course and overall experience completely missed the mark.
