The fritters were warm and slightly sweet with a maple touch, paired perfectly with the whipped (and likely homemade) butter. I was actually glad they limit you to two per person, because the green beans and mashed potatoes that came with the meal were to die for. Honestly, I'd come back just for those sides. All I can say is arrive early and come hungry. The amount of food you get is insane. We came in for our 10 year wedding anniversary and left stuffed. For the amount you get it's definitely worth visiting. The foot traffic can be intense but you can visit the old mill shops while you wait and you can hear your party get called from the intercom. One of my friends had pork roast and she had 4 large portions of meat with gravy. One of my friends had porch chops and he was served 3 large portions of meat. I ordered chicken and dumplings and they brought me one medium sized bowl that I finished before my friends were done chopping up their meats. What a joke. The portion size of my food compared to theirs was a joke. I read some people say their dumplings were all you could eat. That wasn't listed on the menu and the server only mentioned the potatoes being all you could eat. So I won't be back here. Shame. read more

Get here early. We arrived before they opened on a Sunday morning and had a line waiting. But they are very efficient and used to this so they sit have you seated drinks, banana nut muffins and orange juice before you can bat an eye. The food comes out fast and it's a nice clean establishment. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. All of the food was excellent. Generous portions of eggs plenty of pancakes and bacon. Went to the Old Mill Restaurant again and it was so good! Food and service was spectacular! Our server was very attentive and helpful! I had the Baked "City" ham. Usually the entrees come with mashed potatoes and green beans but I'm just not a huge mashed potatoes fan. Our server let me switch it out to Mac and Cheese and glazed carrots. The Mac and cheese was delicious and the carrots were really just plain carrots. My partner got chicken fried steak. He enjoyed it because he ate it all! What an incredible place this is. First of all, don't let the wait scare you away! You can stop in to the general store nearby while you wait and get a bag of duck food for $1 and feed the ducks and geese on property. It's all so beautifully decorated and time just flew by. We enjoyed this meal. The place itself is very fun and old and has neat things to look at. It's busy! And huge! And a bit loud. The waiter was helpful and very friendly - talked a lot but that's ok! The soup they give you with most meals is yummy. The dishes are sizable and many could be shared. The fruit platter is huge! I'd go back! We meant to try the cafe but ended up here. There seems to always be a line here since it's a popular spot. You have to walk past all the people lined up waiting on ramp to go up and get your name on waitlist. The staff advised wait would be 45 minutes and he was dead on. Once our name was called we were seated in an upper section and served by Brett. He did an excellent job attending to our needs and questions. Glad we had such an attentive and helpful server. The restaurant is louder due to the amount of people, but that didn't interfere with our ability to talk and enjoy ourselves. The food is pretty good. The fried chicken wasn't seasoned so I wish I had brought my own. Besides that it's a great value and tasty meal. The desserts were very tasty and I love that it's included with your meal for dinner. We arrived around 5p on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant still had availability. They are very efficient with their process of seating, placing orders, serving and payment). We ordered off of the Southern Fried portion of the menu and asked for the chicken fried steak and the chicken fried chicken. Both came with a corn chowder, side salad, and a basket of corn fritters and biscuits with honey butter to share along with mashed potatoes and green beans followed by a dessert choice. All was great. After hearing other servers with their tables, I realized that our server was providing a bare minimum not giving us all of the options unless we asked. The surrounding area and shops made for a lovely place to wander while we waited for our table -- it truly feels like stepping into a little slice of Southern charm. The only downside was the constant loudspeaker announcements calling names for tables. While I understand it's how they've always done things, it became a bit of a mood-breaker after a while. In 2025, it feels like a text-based waitlist system would keep things just as efficient without disturbing the cozy atmosphere. But hey -- they stay true to their old-fashioned roots, right? Once seated, the experience was fantastic. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. I ordered the chicken pot pie, which was hearty and delicious -- total comfort food done right. My only other small critique would be the checkout counter staff. They seemed a bit short-tempered when I asked for to-go spoons (per our waitress's suggestion). Nothing major, but it stood out after such a great dining experience overall. (I strongly suggest not eating for two days prior to eating here). All the mains come with corn fritters, soup, salad, mashed potatoes, green beans, your choice of starch and dessert. The mashed potatoes and green beans are all-you-can-eat. They served the corn fritters with a maple whipped butter that was so good it made ya want to slap yer mama! I traded out my soup for the fried okra, which was over fried and dry. I ordered the trout fried (I should have gotten it broiled). It was fried in a cornmeal batter and was fine, but a little heavy for me. My husband ordered the turkey and our kid got the fried chicken. The portion sizes of their mains were enough to feed three people! The fried chicken and turkey was okay. Nothing to holler about. We had our desserts to-go. All that said, we will NOT be returning. (Even though the banana pudding was heavenly). Our server, as sweet as she was, must have forgotten to put our order in. We waited an hour for our food, and watched a twelve top that got seated after us get served faster than us. We saw 3 or 4 tables around us get seated after us get served before us! One of my favorite meals in Pigeon Forge - the portion sizes are HUGE too. I was shocked when the server told me that I got refills on my chicken and dumplings, as well as on the green beans and mashed potatoes. The corn fritters with honey butter literally tasted like donuts - beyond delicious. Every meal also comes with dessert; I chose peach cobbler. What a great place packed with history. I hear there will almost always be a bit of a wait. Southern cooking at its finest to many of the locals. Pure of heart and loyal to Pigeon Forge's most known restaurant. Of course, I had to give them a try. Gatlinburg is only about 15 mins away. They provide you with biscuits and fried corn fritters. Already a hell, yeah! I chose the 10 oz steak cooked medium rare with fries and green beans. The meal I ordered comes with their famous corn chowder and a side salad with honey mustard. Their corn chowder and corn fritters are awesome! The sweet butter that comes with it.. chefs kiss! The 10oz steak was cooked well. However, nothing special about the flavor or value of the steak. The steak was not very tender and had that rubbery texture. Pretty bland flavor but made it work with A1. Altogether, I loved the ambiance and vibe of this southern styled restaurant that packs so much history and great cooking. I can tell the food is solid, but the steak was not their strongest dish. The 1.5 hour wait was worth it and once seated we had food within 10 minutes. While waiting we roamed the other Old Mill stores where you could hear names being called for seating which was nice. Our server was Kelsey and she was wonderful and very attentive! The rainbow trout was delicious both broiled and fried. The soup came out piping hot. We never got in so my review is strictly based on their inconsideration for their guests. Why a very popular restaurant in 2025 would not take reservations or at least have a waitlist is beyond me. I guess they don't care about their customers inside or outside. 1. Vacationers don't want to waste 2hrs of their valuable time waiting to get in, especially when it's 20 degrees outside. 2. With hundreds of people standing around inside the restaurant & out, do they think that makes for a comfortable dining experience for the dopes that actually waited for 2hrs for a table? 3. My wife I decided to share the meatloaf with green beans. In our opinion we both felt it was just ok. Just very little flavor and a little dry. The friend of ours at the table got a slice of pecan pie and we share it with the table. It was very good. * We heard from a lot of people in our group they really liked this restaurant. The Old Mill Restaurant feels like a Southern-comfort version of Cracker Barrel - and they've done it way, way better than Cracker Barrel ever has. The portions are gigantic, you get to try a ton of flavors, and the entire place has a lot of personality. We had a really good time here. NOTES: -Surprisingly accessible. Despite the restaurant being on an upper floor of a building, there are multiple elevators that help people navigate the stairs and changes in elevation. The walkways are relatively tight - especially with the large crowds here. However, the staff seems familiar with wheelchair users, and they are able to ask crowds to move or help direct people into spaces that are most comfortable for those who need wider spaces. We saw multiple people in wheelchairs here. PROS: -Sooooooo much food. Soooo much food. No one could finish their food here. -Really attentive staff. Clearly the servers here are used to being ridiculously full because she was pleasant, friendly, and constantly checking in despite bussing more tables than I thought was reasonable. Drinks didn't stay empty long. -Sooooooo many "free" flavors. Even if you plan on getting a standard entree, you get a whole lot of different flavors here. I ended up getting the vegetable platter, and in addition to the entree itself, it came with biscuits, hushpuppies, a small salad, corn chowder, and a free after-dinner dessert. And that's in addition to the standard four choices that come with the entree. It's a TON of food in slimmer portions that really lets you try a ton of stuff. -All of the food was really good too. I wasn't super fond of the pinto bean's style, but that's about it. The meatloaf was great, mac and cheese was super creamy, corn chowder was really good, and the biscuits were lusciously melty. Zero complaints about any of the homemade flavors. -Lots of cool stuff to do after you're done eating. The Old Mill Restaurant is part of the gigantic "Old Mill Historic Complex". There is a distillery, candy store, ice cream store, tons of knick knack stores, and more. Try not to overeat because you'll definitely want to pop into a few of these other stores when you're done. CONS: -If walking isn't your jam, the Old Mill area may not be your favorite fit. Because there are so many businesses here, the parking lots are pretty darned full. There are tons of parking spaces around, but if walking is difficult, you'll have to hope to luck into a parking spot adjacent to the restaurant. Otherwise, expect to walk 1-2 blocks to get to the restaurant. read more
