Our friends raved about this place, and that's why we wound up here at 8:45 - 15 minutes before closing. All the flavors looked good, on the wall and in the freezer. There was a line, and I was hesitant to ask for a sample. But the three young ladies were sweet and patient. I decided on a scoop of Cookies & Cream and Vanilla Bean in a waffle cup. The cones looked too messy on a warm night. Husband had the banana pudding. He said it tasted like the pudding, but better! Mine was good, too. So good that I know we'll be back. We sat outside on a bench in front of the store. We watched them put up the closed sign. And we watched large families come and look disappointed. The young ladies opened up the store for them, but at 9:05, with a long line inside, they put up the sign again. They wanted to clean up and go home on a Saturday night. Came here on Saturday, during the afternoon. We were exploring the town, and it was so hot. We couldn't resist having a nice cup of ice cream. They offer lots of flavors. I dont think i have ever seen banana flavor of ice cream, so i wanted to have a taste of strawberry-banana. It was quite good, actually. However, we got a cup with 2 scoops. Coffee and strawberry flavors. Coffee didn't have a strong taste of coffee/caffeine. It was already getting to melt while she was doing the scoop. On the other hand, strawberry was good. Had a good texture. The store seems like very busy; always had a line. Outside had lots of seating area. Mixed feelings here. Decided to come here because they had really unique flavors. I sampled a couple of them (banana pudding and oatmeal cream pie) but wasn't terribly impressed. I ended up getting a pralines and cream in a sugar cone that was just average. Prices were very reasonable. We had a negative interaction with the manager, who overruled her staff and charged us for tap water in an unkind way, making us feel terrible and like they're just focused on money. We stopped in at Old Mill Creamery during our first visit to PF. The shop is located in a cute area surrounded by other shops, sitting area outside and lawn games. There is a large selection of flavors and the ice cream is so delicious. They were so helpful and allowed us to sample so that we could decide between flavors...there were so many good choices!!! I sampled the coconut and the peanut butter. Such a hard decision but peanut butter won and it did not disappoint!! My husband got two scoops - coffee and butter pecan. Where can you get good ice cream in Pigeon Forge? Try looking here. The Old Mill creamery is across the street from the Old Mill and restaurant. Inside you can sample the flavor offerings. I wasn't overly hungry but decided to try the bear paw ice cream made with chocolate and caramel. I got the kids' size bowl since I wasn't overly hungry from my lunch. Got tons of napkins because it started melting right away before I even left the place. Outside there are porch chairs to sit in and take in the scenery. Needless to say this ice cream was so good but yet not overfilling. The chocolate and caramel were not overwhelming and I must say I enjoyed this little treat. Let me start by saying that I really don't even like ice cream. The kids eat it all the time and I don't even get anything for myself because it's just not my fave. However, I made an exception for this place, once I realized they make their own ice cream. I got a sample of the "Oatmill Cream Pie" and it was DELICIOUS. My kids got "Play Doh" and I don't even know what it was made of (lol), but it was SO good. We got a cup with three scoops and asked for an extra cup to split it up. Five stars because I really appreciate the high level of friendliness and the welcoming atmosphere that I felt as soon as I walked in the door. I came in with my 2 year old niece and one of the employees was so kind to her. She interacted with her, tried to get her to dance, and made sure to say goodbye to her. I also saw how friendly they were with other customers. They make a real customer service effort here. The ice cream is good, typical ice cream. I tried the coffee ice cream on a cookie. I only wanted ice cream on one cookie so they gave me the other cookie packaged. The cookies are huge and also really good alone. I recommend taking them up on the offer to warm up the cookie. Anyway - we had their banana pie ice cream - and it was out of this world...they literally bake a pie and crush it in with vanilla ice cream. We also had chocolate - a boring pick by my daughter and vanilla - creamy but still boring. Score a table outside and enjoy some under the umbrella... My mom specifically asked me to take her there so that she could get coconut ice cream and when we get there they have decided to not make that flavor right now so she was incredibly disappointed and got what they said would be the closest thing to it and she said it was just OK. Keep in mind that I've been hearing about about this coconut ice cream now for a year ... My biggest complaint with them is that they do not have any vegan ice cream. One in three people are lactose intolerant so it boggles my mind at this point in time why every ice cream place doesn't have vegan ice cream and candidly nobody should be eating dairy in its current state, it's not healthy. It does have some unusual ice creme flavors including Oatmeal Pie, Banana Pudding, Brown Butter Black Walnut made with real bourbon!), Whiskey Cream; Almond Tart. I wanted to try the Creamery because I tried the vanilla ice cream at the Old Mill Restaurant the day before and it was excellent. Cold Mill Creamery did not disappoint! I tried a cup of the Wedding Cake: a rich vanilla with chunks of white cake of frosting! Delicious! 12 year old enjoyed the Sprinkles flavor (yes, tons of sprinkles!). My 14 year old nixed the iced cream in favor of a homemade oatmeal pie! I would not say the staff was the most enthusiastic but they gave us plenty of samples and were polite. There are many dessert places in Pidgeon Forge but I would definitely give Old Mill Creamery a try! read more

Fantastic Ice-Cream! This review is after my 5th or so visit to this little shop when either waiting for a table at the Old Mill, or after a meal and walking the strip. There isn't really much to say since in a lot of ways ice-cream is just ice-cream, and to be honest, most shops all have the same generic flavors. The Old Mill Creamery falls into that mostly generic category for me. I guess if I was really pressed to pick out something special about them I might be able to conclude that the their ice-cream is somewhat creamier than others, but in reality the only thing that is really "unique" about them is the location and the Old Mill namesake. For what its worth I'll definitely be back next time I'm getting lunch or dinner at the Old Mill, and like I said in my opening line, it really is fantastic ice-cream, but aside from already being there its not really a place that I'd go out of my way for. read more
