Without a doubt, there are plenty of options for ice cream in the Pigeon Forge area. Our go-to favorite is the Chocolate Monkey. While they have several locations in Pigeon Forge, we always stop at the one located near the intersection of Parkway and East Wears Valley Road (next door to Pink Jeep Tours). They have a wide selection of ice cream, fudges, and assorted candies. The candies always looknso tempting, but for me its always the ice cream! We especially like this place because it is always clean and family friendly. For me, it's always the Praline Pecan ice cream. Rich and creamy with plenty of pralines and caramel. One scoop is enough. Very generous serving sizes whether served in a cup or a wide selection of cone choices. Customer service: 3 stars: its basic.. they say hello, they give you icecream samples if you ask, they ring you up and thats it. Cleanliness: 5 stars: the store was very tidy and organized. Price point: 2 stars: ridiculous... the chocolate covered strawberries are expensive, the icecream is decent but not memorable nor worth the price. Icecream: it was ok, not much flavor to it. Baskin robbins is down the street, they have better flavors. The chocolate covered strawberries were good but exorbitant. Overall: its a cool store with all sort of cavity causing treats from fudges, candied apples, icecream, etc etc but they are too pricey. Been seeing this place for years visiting the area and finally stopped in to see what it was about with my men. I came here with my grandparents after our lunch/dinner (we ate kinda late) for some dessert. I got a regular size cup of Majestic Milky Way ice cream. It was DELICIOUS! The chocolate ice cream and caramel combo tasted incredible. The place is also adorable with all the stuffed monkeys and things decorating it! They have a selection HUGE caramel apples, as well as different kinds of fudge and other chocolate treats. This place is definitely worth a try, especially for a chocolate enthusiast. read more

Such a cute little place. It looks like an old fashioned candy shop. The prices are a little pricey but the candy we tried was very good. My favorite were the buckeyes & pecan balls. My daughter got a caramel apple with MnM's (I could do without the MnM's) but I did try it & the apples were delicious. We got 1 ice cream waffle cone, caramel apple, 7 pieces of chocolate candy & a chocolate covered banana & it came to just under $30!! The lady who helped us was very nice & informative. This is definitely the "nicer" Chocolate Monkey. Also visited location located next to gas station several miles away that was older, smaller, and sadly, dirtier. I found the ice cream here to be good, but as others have commented it's not the BEST. Having tried other ice creams such as Graeter's Ice Creams in Ohio or Chocolate Mousse in Bloomington, IN, Chocolate Monkey is adequate. I will try Baskin Robbins next time we have an ice cream craving and we're in town! read more

Nothing crazy. We just got some ice cream. We got the oreo flavor and it wasn't bad, but absolutely nothing special about it. They offer a lot of other sweet things, but as my experience has it everything from Pigeon Forge are extremely sweet. This place has a major sweet tooth, and well I'm just not the person to eat it all. They had a lot of sweet things, dipped apples, caramel, and a ton of other stuff that you can't really expect me to know because I really don't eat sweet things. Honestly, this place is made for tourists and sweet tooths. If you're one of them I would say check this place out, otherwise, you're not really missing much. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would have. Google hours and every online site says open till 11pm. Got there at 9:45pm and we were greeted by a rude ass employee that said, "we're closed, go away" and then she shut the door in our face. Watched a family come behind us and try to get in and the stupid ass girl did the same thing and made a little 5 year old girl cry cause she didn't get her ice cream. I am disappointed that a stand alone store does not offer public restrooms. This is a restaurant that targets children. Our son had to go and we had to run to different businesses to find a public restroom. Shame. We will no longer make this a tradition to eat here when we come back to Gatlinburg. A tale of two candy shops... While vacationing in Gatlinburg our sweet tooth was on overdrive. There are chocolate monkeys scattered throughout Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. This review is for the location in Pigeon Forge, which seems to have recently opened. It is right on the main strip, easy to access and the parking is good. The display of stuffed monkeys is awesome and they even have a $.50 Cent ride in the store for kids to enjoy while parents shop. Unlike the location in Gatlinburg, the staff here were a little less friendly and less happy to be taking care of us. It took a lot of effort to get the young lady behind the counter to smile. We did, but I assure you the smile wasn't worth the effort. Our order was large, consisting of a cube of fudge five different candied apples, chocolate covered cherries and chocolate covered Oreos. The apples were not as good as the ones we had from the Gatlinburg location. They seemed less fresh, and one even bordered on rotten in the core. Needless to say for the remainder of our stay we will be making our purchases at the Gatlinburg location. The items listed above totaled $54.00, which is not a bargain when you consider what we got. If you're going to pay a premium you should really be getting excellent customer service and the highest quality product. read more

The caramel apples filled in white chocolate are must have every visit! The staff are always accommodating and helpful! Sometimes they haven't had an Apple dipped in white chocolate, but they have always offered to heavy drizzle one with white chocolate and roll it any toppings! Everything was overpriced. There was a thick buttery smell and it was very cluttered. I ordered a chocolate dipped pretzel and the pretzel was so stale that it was chewy. I have never witnessed such blatant racism in my entire life. My friends, who are Hispanic, and I went to this shop on Sunday and because we had never been here before we asked for several samples. We may have asked for more than is allowed, but no one ever told us that. When it was all said and done we spent well over $100 on ice cream. There was a middle-aged woman working, white with gray hair ...maybe in her early 50s... And she was so rude to us. She was very short with us and kept making rude faces. However, when a white couple came in, she was very welcoming and kind to them. I would highly recommend that you choose another store. read more

OH FUDGE! And candied apples and ice cream!! The one we visited looked to be an old Sonic Drive In, so there was plenty of parking! When we entered in everyone was super sweet!! There was many many choices of ice cream,fudge and apples. My husband decided on stawberry and something with bourbon in it and it was delicious (he gave me a taste). I got the coffee, carmal toffee and OH MY! It was good. My daughter got a waffle cone with cotton candy flavor, my son got regular chocolate. My daughters boyfriend decided on fudge. Chocolate peanut butter fudge. He let me try a small piece (I'm not a fudge kind of girl) BUT it was very tasty and creamy! They only sold it by the 1/2 pound and he couldnt eat it all, so he took it with him.. If your not sure what flavor of ice cream you would like they will give you a small spoon taste, just enough to see if you.like it, which I was thankful for because the first sample I tried just wasnt right for me..lol I would recommend this shop to anyone who has a sweet tooth craving. Went to The Chocolate Monkey in Gatlinburg and when I told the guy upfront we will be back after dinner so we can take our treats straight back to the cabin, he gave me 10% off card. When we came back he took care of us by throwing in extra chocolate covered strawberries.
