This is a gem. It has so many unique things and this is the place to try them. Great service Binh answered all my questions. I got the artisinal cheese board (so cool and unique and very good) the Filet Mignon also delish. Dined here for our 29th wedding anniversary during a business trip. Amazing experience!! All staff personnel were friendly from beginning till the end. Food was delightful!! I came to eat here with my family on a staycation at the Gaylord. Our servers name was Sylvia, and she was very sweet to talk to and helpful with ordering. Amazing on every level - food, service, ambiance. We enjoyed such a lovely little date night on our staycation. Ordered lobster bisque, wedge salads, sea bass special, mushroom risotto, habanero creamed corn and also had dessert. My husband and I came here for a romantic date night. Our server and our sides were fantastic, but I'm here to talk about the steak we ordered. We ordered the cowboy ribeye, which came cut with the bone. My husband is a fantastic chef and knows his cow, as he grew up with cows. We were not given a ribeye, we were given a NY strip steak. There was no marbling through the steak, just fatty deposits along one edge, and it was missing the spinalis crown/cap. We bit into it and it was very chewy, though cooked medium rare like we had asked. My husband let our server know we were not served the correct cut, and after speaking with the chef, he came back to let us know that is was correct.... Just might be the last of what he had... for a decently upscale steakhouse that boasts their meat, we were thoroughly disappointed. We know we were lied to, and on top of that being told we were given what was left has left a very sour taste in our mouth. We decided to make a quick reservation after traveling all day and wanted some "Texan" steak. Old Hickory did not disappoint. Beautifully dimmed atmosphere. I could be crazy, but the restaurant smelled like leather and old hickory. So calming. I had the wedge salad. Delicious. Then had the 8 ounce filet mignon (perfectly seasoned and cooked) with the Gouda Mac and cheese (my favorite side of the night!). Also had the whipped mash and the Brussels. Mac and cheese won by far. I had the "walking horse" martini. It was good (reminded me of Christmas with the hints of pear and cinnamon). Also had the Markham red wine (smooth and delicious with the steak). Our server was very nice. His name was Brett. Oooooo, almost forgot: garlic and cheese bread came out. It was fantastic. I wanted to ask for more but felt like a pig. So good!!! Took some carrot cake back to the hotel room (I'm sure it will be delicious). Overall great dining experience and wonderfully tasting food. Old hickory steakhouse had really amazing lamb chops. They were delicious, tender, and the blend of flavors really came together. Their sides were delicious and we even ordered some as appetizers. They are known for their whiskey and bourbon and have a cigar room upstairs. They do have a pretty nice wine list. I was helped out by HALA and Dima, they were both very kind and very friendly. They made us feel very welcome. We decided to eat there after the Aspire Tour and Bryan also waited on us and was patient and kind to wait for our choices on the menu and choices and drinks. My husband & I took our two granddaughters, ages 6 and 7, to OHS a few weeks ago. We loved it. I had the filet with the peppercorn sauce. It was delicious. The steak was perfectly prepared. The sauce could've been a bit creamier. My husband had the Sea Bass which was also delicious. One granddaughter had the child's Filet & the other had Mac n Cheese. They both loved their choices. The Caesar salad was a hit with my husband & 7 year old granddaughter. For dessert we had the chocolate flourless cake & cream brûlée. We all devoured them. Our server was Villas & he was at the top of his game! He was very hard to understand but he certainly understood us and the orders we placed. Everyone we dealt with from Hostesses to all staff were extremely courteous. The ambiance was quite cozy with perfect lighting & candles. My only dislike about the restaurant is the lack of a dress code. Don't people dress up anymore when dining out at upscale restaurants? This is an odd review for me. The food was very good but WAY overpriced. Dinner for 4 was well over $400 when we chose some of the cheaper choices on the menu. It's not that the food wasn't good, it's just that any high end steakhouse in the area would have served food that was just as good (if not better), for less. It was tasty but the value wasn't there. There are better choices in DFW if you intend to spend that much money. read more

I made a mistake coming here during Lent and having given up meat! The steak is clearly the #1 reason to venture down the stairs and splurge on a meal, while staying at the Gaylord Texan. However, I did have a delicious Chilean sea bass with soba noodles and vegetables. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection and a really nice meal with a cosmo. I've dined here a few times now and the service is consistently both phenomenal and entertaining. They have the perfect sides too, like lobster mac and cheese. So rich and delicious with hand made pasta. This evening I shared a meal with my Mom. I ordered the cowboy rib eye blackened with a side of chipolte cream corn and asparagus. Service was not fast but at a great steakhouse fast is not a good thing usually. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, seasoned properly, juicy, and oh so delicious. I am a big fan of asparagus and it was very good but the chipolte cream corn stole the show. Absolutely delicious! Had a private dining experience with a vendor in the Barrel Room within this restaurant in November. We arranged the room weeks prior to the event and it was very easy to work with their event staff. Once on site the waitress for our room was very friendly and helpful throughout our meals. We were able to enjoy the shrimp cocktail, starter salads, steaks, grilled oysters and dessert. Everything was very tasty and made to order. The chocolate dessert is a must! I can also highly recommend the steak as well. The Barrel Room was very private and had doors that could be left shut to assist in keeping the noise down if you want to have a more intimate setting. I have visited this restaurant many times and after covid hit it was never the same. Unfortunately we attended on the 23 of December 2023 and the steak was undercooked (asked medium rare plus and got rare) the mac n cheese was over cooked to the point that the noodles were still stuck together and the habanero creamed corn was more soup than corn.
