We stopped here before to get full before drinking lots of beer at Real Ale. I judge a BBQ joint off their brisket and their brisket was spot on. We ordered half normal brisket and half brisket tips and it was great. I left no morsel of chicken on the half chicken order. It was super tender. The jalepano sausages were tasty too. Onions, pickels and bread are free. Their BBQ sauce was a little weak but a lot of great BBQ joints in Texas have soso suaces. Fill your belly here before going to Real Ale. read more

Great bbq! Feels like Texas! The sandwiches are huge so consider sharing. They are on hoagie rolls and the bun stands up to the pile of meat in them! read more

Expected more after reading the reviews... as in more to like. You walk in, go to the counter to order, and then find a table. The young staff brings the food while calling your name out if it's a to-go order. We probably would have enjoyed it more if we had ordered to-go instead of eating in. First, if you're tall, i.e. 6' or more, beware the transition header between the room containing the beverage and condiment bars en route to the main front dining room. As somebody 6'4", if you don't duck, you'll get the header at about eyebrow level. And, needing to go back and forth (it was our first visit), it was ridiculous having to bend over each trip. And for the lawsuit-minding, there's no sign saying "Duck" or "Watch Your Head". Second, I wondered why at least 5 or 6 kids were wandering around staring up and down, peeking under things, lifting lids off the trash cans, and generally just acting as if they were on a scavenger hunt. Turns out, this place has a policy/practice of hiding a small green dinosaur (if I remember right) and upon finding it, the lucky person is given a free dessert. Unlucky for everybody else trying to eat in peace. Is this a BBQ joint or a daycare facility? Sheessshhh!! And it wasn't crowded; I can imagine the throng of searching kids if it was busy. No thanks. Even McDonalds and Chik-fil-A have separate play areas to keep kids away from patrons just trying to enjoy their food. Food was okay, but not served hot enough, and too expensive. Blanco is a cute and tiny town. They should price the food for locals, not tourists. We were very underwhelmed by this place. read more

The barbecue here is totally awesome. My husband and I checked it out after a recommendation from my boss. It's air-conditioned, which is great in July. There were a lot of patrons enjoying the food around 2pm but no line. Essentially, you build your own plate as they don't offer plate options. We ordered a pound of brisket, 1/2 pound turkey breast and 3 ribs. The meat is totally worth it. The brisket was perfectly smoked, flavorful and juicy. Turkey may have been the best ever, so juicy and I cut it with a fork. The ribs were good but I'm not much of a rib chick anyway. The sides were typical BBQ fare. Potato salad was just okay, which is fine because the meat totally made up for it. I'll never find potato salad as good as my own! My husband had the banana pudding for dessert. I could only spare two bites but it has inspired me to figure out the recipe. We loaded up two to-go boxes and left happy! Nice staff and clean restaurant. Please check out Old 300 next time you venture up to Blanco. It's dazzling! read more

I've enjoyed everything I've had, but always have to stay away from spending to much here, which is a hard! BBQ is always a hiring price food, so I don't seem to get it much when eating out, but some days you gotta satisfy a craving! The chopped brisket is a favorite, and I always enjoy adding the pickled onions, which are self serve! And made like perfect! But if I could recommend anything from here, it's definitely the Jim Raby BBQ quesadilla! It's outstanding! I'm not one to crave a specific meal, but this is one I do! I couldn't break down what all is in it, but I can tell you it is well worth the cost and even though it's large, if you don't eat it all the leftovers are just as darn good! Very very pleased with Old 300 when it comes to this quesadilla and highly recommend that over any read more

Be aware that the BBQ stuffed potato does not include brisket but instead is made of their. "Mystery Meat" with BBQ sauce. My husband and I ordered this and specified brisket as our meat and the cashier didn't bother to tell us it was different. This only matters because my husband is gluten intolerant and the sauce sometimes includes some ingredient that is not wheat free. The young lady who brought out the order said it included pork as well. The food was good, but we won't know for a few hours whether there was any problem with the sauce. I would have loved to have tried the brisket but we have lots of bbq places around Austin so no big deal. read more

We ordered lunch and it was really good. I had the bbq baked potato and my husband had the sausage wraps. The sides were also very good. They also had kids meals. read more

Come hungry because you'll want to eat a lot! The brisket falls apart in your mouth and the bottomless beans are delicious. I'll be back and look forward to checking out the live music out back. read more

Old 300 BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Blanco, Texas

Have been here a number of times, enjoy it. Glad it's in Blanco, and plan to go much more often when I finish my home's construction. Food really is good. One thing I'd note, though, is I've had good pickles and was very disappointed by the flavor of the pickles - took one bite and tossed it aside. Terrible, same toxic sour you get out of any jar in the grocery store. Only a few great places have great pickles, usually in a deli, and this place could benefit by getting a good pickle (add garlic, less vinegar). The only store-bought pickle that starts to come close to a good deli pickle is Boar's Head Kosher Dill, but that's even when i dump out half the vinegar water, fill up with clear water, and add two cloves of crushed garlic and let it sit for a week or two. If Old 300 got a good pickle, it would be fabulous and quite the draw. read more

Old 300 BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Blanco, Texas

I was back again on 08/31/14 and gee, this place is GREAT. My friend and I shared a plate of ribs and sliced beef. We also shared the creamed corn, potato salad and an appetizer of deviled eggs. The eggs were delicious. We took some home. The creamed corn and salad were just right. But the BBQ was really good and flavorful. I highly recommend this place when passing through Blanco!! read more

A very delicious BBQ joint in the heart of Blanco, TX. Some of the best BBQ I have had in Texas.

Old 300 BBQ is dynamite! From the old school store feel to the friendly staff. As cool as the store is the BBQ is the real deal. The brisket was tender and not dried out. The ribs were seasoned well and tender. The green beans, Cole slaw and pinto beans complemented the mains really well. The traditional BBQ was some of the best I've eaten in Texas! read more

This is my second review for old 300. I still love the brisket here and I decided to add a star to this review. My last one was four stars but I should have just given it five. I'll be going back again soon! read more

If you think about Texas barbecue this place it's all the Marks The atmosphere was down-home country, the barbecue is second to none and the staff was very friendly don't miss out on the fried okra read more

Mike and the team did not disappoint for Independence Day 2020. The Q was awesome, curbside impeccable and downtown Blanco, always chill. Thanks to the Old 300 team for being there during COVID-19! read more

Great stop for lunch. Definitely recommend the Akaushi Rib (only on Sundays) - so tender and delicious. Also the "all you can eat pinto beans" were great. LOVED the pickled white onions. First time for Texas BBQ and yum. Sweet and spicy BBQ sauces were both good. They offer bottled beer, soda and water and fountain drinks. Fun vibe to the place! read more

We had been to the LBJ Ranch and were hungry for work. We asked one of the employees where was the best barbecue place and they recommended the 300. We went and enjoyed it so much. The food was great! The whole experience was so fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were on a Presidential Library trip through Texas and had barbecue in Austin, but this was much more down home. Loved it and would go again. read more

Stopped in with munchkins to get some BBQ & fixings before heading back home. Very nice set-up. Classic mains and sides. Missed the all-you-can-eat beans until I was loading up my pickle & onion plate. We tried to find the dinosaur in the dining room but no luck! Definitely recommend! read more

Five stars for the pork ribs as they were fantastic. Perfectly cooked with a nice slightly salty rub. Definitely recommend them. The sliced brisket was also very good, but not as good as the pork ribs. Nicely smoked but not quite as flavorful as some other BBQ joints in the hill country. The potato salad and creamed corn were both good. The pinto beans were good and peppery. Drop in a few sliced jalapeños and they are fantastic. Also, beans are all you can eat. The Spicy Texas BBQ sauce was best for the meats in my opinion. Most menu items are a la carte. Order your meat by weight and pick sides separately. They have sandwich options as well. Prices are very reasonable and they seem to give a little more meat than what you actually order. I ordered 1/3 lb of sliced brisket and it seemed a little closer to 1/2 lb. We will definitely stop back in next time we visit the Blanco, TX area. read more

Well it may be the only bbq I've had in Texas but I can say it's the best bbq of my life. Maybe i need to get to Texas more often. The experience of watching the chef pull the slab of meat out of the smoker? Holding bin? And slice portions off to order seemed really authentic. The Chuck Norris was tender and flavorful and ginormous. A really good value for $10. Hubby got the signature brisket which was off the hook tasty. The house spicy bbq sauce was great. The potato salad was solid. The peach cobbler had great caramelization to it. The staff were friendly but not fake and seemed to run like a well oiled machine. One staff person seemed to go out of her way to make sure an older gentleman got his "fresh coffee." What a sweetheart. Highly recommend. read more

Can't go wrong with any meats, but for a quick bite I highly recommend the chopped BBQ sandwich

This is a good place for brisket and sausages. The jalapeno sausages are not spicy, but they're well flavored. The brisk is tender and smoky. Both pair well with their delicious potato salad and ham flavored green beans. Even the pickles and pickled onions complement the meal well. Skip the half chicken. Though the skin is nice and crispy, the chicken breast itself manages to simultaneously dry, greasy, and flavorless. read more

Old 300 BBQ is where its at! Allen is an absolute master! We ordered this BBQ through Goldbelly and it couldn't have been any better. It tasted as if we were sitting right there eating and listening to the live music. The Brisket is melt in your mouth! I would 100% recommend this place to anyone who loves BBQ. read more

Best chicken I've ever had! Mac 'n cheese fabulous too as well as other sides! Staff friendly & efficient!

This is the best BBQ I've ever had, definitely try the Akaushi Brisket. I will definitely be back next time I'm headed to hill country. The pecan cobbler is legit, reminds me of my mommas homemade pecan pie. read more

New to Blanco and I love BBQ. This is the place to Eat if your hungry and if you like chicken, come early cause everyone loves it. Devil Eggs are just like I make mine...DELICIOUS. They lose money every time I come because I get the"all you can eat Pinto Beans." It ain't BBQ unless have Beans to go with it. My wife and I have been there 3 times and we're never disappointed, Brisket Sausage and fixin's are all great. You get what you pay for and the food is well worth every penny. read more

This place was hopping on a Saturday afternoon. Service was very friendly and food was great. They do not have a "plate dinner" on the menu, but they are more than happy to create one for you. Will not hesitate to stop again if hunger strikes while we are passing through Blanco. read more

I was just passing through Blanco and discovered Old 300 BBQ. The brisket was tender, juicy and very tasty. Unlike many other bbq places it was not overcooked and dry. The pinto beans and coleslaw were excellent. The service was friendly and prompt but I dined Wednesday around 1630. I did not try other menu items but my food was excellent. Old 300 continues the Texas tradition of only serving tasteless mass produced white bread which is my only complaint. Prices are competitive with Black's bbq but I like the Old 300 brisket and beans better. read more

OK folks... not even Coronavirus can keep us from this BBQ! We decided to take a drive to Blanco (from Austin) today... best decision ever! Since the virus pandemic was still in full swing, we placed our order by phone once we had arrived at the restaurant. The Old 300 Staff could not have been more accommodating, delivering our food straight to our car. We ordered brisket, pork loin, chicken, and turkey for our meats - and potato salad and cole slaw sides. It was all FANTASTIC! We ordered enough for several meals, as we could eat Old 300 BBQ every day of the week! The chicken was moist, perfectly seasoned and fell-off-the-bone tender. The brisket had the most amazing flavor and ultra, ultra tender! I cannot say enough great things about this place! If I could give it 10 stars, I would! Worth the drive from ANYwhere and worlds above the rest. Highly recommend! read more

Great value for barbecue lunches. I got the special and it was a little more than I could finish. Tasted great and hit the spot.

Delicious EVERY time we go!!! Brisket and Sausage is really really good! And the Mac and Cheese is ridiculously good!!

By far the best BBQ we have had. The akaushi beef ribs melt in your mouth. The brisket was superb. If you're hankering for BBQ, it's worth the trip to Blanco, Tx. Bonus: There is also a reserved parking spot for Chuck Norris read more

Awesome BBQ. Had the brisket, ribs and turkey. Took it to go and friendly waitstaff packed everything up nice. Worth the drive to Blanco!

Stopped in after hiking. We try to make it a point to always eat somewhere we do not have locally. Went in and got 2 sausage sandwiches to go with a side of avocado wedges and cobbler. At first I saw the price of $8 per sandwich and freaked out. Until we got the sandwiches. Basically a full hoagie roll with about 4 layers of sausage each. Tried the sweet and hot sauce and it was fantastic. Fried avocado wedges are outstanding. Peach cobbler again, outstanding. Next time we will probably split a sandwich but no complaints. :). Except the fact that I checked in and got the 10% coupon after we ordered. Next time ;). Highly recommend this place. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite before heading to a day on the río and let me tell you, what a great way to start a great day. The country style eatery has casual, friendly energy and the staff serves with a smile. The brisket was tender, flavorful, and oh boy the BBQ sauce ties it off with a delicious bow. I am a BBQ fanatic and this place is defiantly a top 5. #BBQnation read more

I'm a born Texan, so I've had my share of BBQ. This is hands down this best BBQ I've ever had. Don't tell my husband.

We are new to Blanco and have been wanting to try our local eateries. We ordered from Old 300 yesterday during Corona virus semi- shutdown. Service was great, ribs get a 5, brisket and sausage about 4.5, corn and coleslaw scored 5. Probably our favorite creamed corn ever. We look forward to going back when they can be fully open again. read more

A BIG thank you to Old 300. We had them cater our wedding this weekend and the food was a big hit! Everyone raved about the quality of the food. My brother in law, who has traditionally disliked BBQ, cleaned off his plate. The guests complimented the flavor, tenderness of the brisket, moistness of the turkey, and the spicy BBQ sauce. We ordered sausage, brisket, and turkey with beans and coleslaw. read more
