The chefs at OSA are brilliant! Each dish is well thought out. You can taste the detail in the layering of flavors. I'll try dishes here that I won't normally order any where else because I know if there's anyone who can get me to see a dish from a new perspective, it's OSA! Plus, everyone here is so nice, making it always a pleasant experience. I'd stop in if I was you! :) Best, EmC read more

This place is excellent! Every once in awhile my drive home takes me through Orange, CT and I keep stopping here every time it does. The menu is an eclectic mix of all Latin style cuisines, from Spain, Central America and South America. The dishes are inventive and incredibly tasty, I haven't had anything I do not like. You may not notice it from the road, just a small bright sign on the packed business building front, drive around back to the main entrance. Decor is festive with dark lighting. Also there's a big bar with fresh, delicious island style cocktails. The specially is the mojito, drinks also awesome! read more

Highly recommend! Great service ambiance is wonderful! Went for anniversary dinner and definitely would return

I've been here a few times and have been meaning to write a review. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The cocktails and wine menu is wonderful. Check their website or call for specials, like the half price bottled wines on Sundays. Ola has fabulous mojitos! The table bread with dipping sauce is divine. Everything I have ordered here has been enjoyable. The calamari, quesadillas, and empanadas are my favorite tapas. The Bahia, skirt steak, and campo chicken are incredible entrees. Save room for dessert if you can. I highly recommend Ola in Orange or Bridgeport. read more

Ola Restaurant - Bahia - Latin American Near Me - Orange, Connecticut

Maybe this place would be 4.5 Stars if it was an option, but the only negative is the strip mall location and basement dining setting. Everything else is excellent! The food is what really matters and everything at Ola's is super! The tapas are great and I could make a dinner out of sampling through those alone. I recommend the tuna tacos. Fresh, sushi-grade tuna with mango and avocado. It's served as two tacos stuffed each with tuna. The beef empanadas are the best I've ever had! There are many other great tapas options too. If I make it to the entrees with room left, I really like their steak options. There's usually at least three different steak options on the menu. I've never been disappointed yet. The Salmon entree is also great if you prefer fish. The usually have a sea bass Branzino plate too. The wine list very "cultural" as well, with many options from Spain and South America. The wines are well chosen and reasonably priced. The usually have a couple great Malbec options, which seems most appropriate for the cuisine here. The Chilean Sauvignon Blanc is your best bet if a white wine is needed. If wine is not your thing, than go with a house mojito! They are great! After dinner, try one of their cafe especial! They have many to choose from. Again, I recommend the Cafe Guatamala! read more

Ola's food and service at the New Haven location is just incredible. The ambience is great complemented with Latin music. Their staff super friendly. They plate each dish beautifully! if you like Latin food you'll love this place. The seafood and paella are amazing! Will definetely come back here again! i Love this place! Adding to this review and adding one more star. I just visited their Wallingford location which has even better ambience than their New Haven location and I was not disappointed. The food still amazing. I had a seafood broth type of dish and it was ridiculously delicious! Their ceviche and empanadas appetizers are to die for! Did I mention that they make a good sangria? Love, love this place... read more

I was prepared to give this place five stars..although I RARELY give anything five stars..I feel they have to REALLY, TRULY EARN/DESERVE it!! $ We made reservations, just to be on the safe side..got there a few minutes late, but they were ok with that..the weather wasn't the best for driving. This place was on the mark with the food! Only one person in our group had a mixed type of drink (Red Sangria..she said it was ok..I didn't have it so I can't personally give it any rating.) Waitress brought us some bread with their dipping sauce...OMG...I could've easily eaten a bowl of that by itself!!! We all wanted more, but decided to leave room for dinner etc! We went onto the steak empenadas..very good!! So I ordered the "Tierra" Flank Steak with rice & a side of Yucca fries that came with this cilantro dipping sauce..Como se dice..."AMAZING!!"...the steak was ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY DONE...REALLY WOW!!! The rice was really good as well!! Another ordered Mahi Mahi..VERY GOOD!! Another ordered Bahia..VERY GOOD, BUT..only 6 pieces of shrimp & didn't come with ANY side..should've at least came with rice..every spanish dish has rice! EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME!!!!!!! Highly recommend this place!! read more

Have been to Ola in Fairfield before and had no issues ( Not sure if they are the same owners) Went to Ola for After Dinner Drinks. As soon as we sat at the bar, we were asked if we wanted food because the kitchen was closing. We told the bartender that we were here for drinks. We ordered 2 drinks, One espresso martini, and I cannot remember the name of the second one. The bartender made the drinks great. So good we wanted a second round. Our original bartender left for the night (without notice) so there was a new guy behind the bar. He was on his phone so we flagged him down asking for another round. He comes back with the check. I told him no we want another drink, he immediately responded with a attitude "O its last call" This was around 10:30 and there was about 8 other patrons at the bar still. We order another round of the same drinks and they were horrible. Not mixed correctly at all. Not sure if he was in a rush to get out or what but I do regret that second round. We left and went across the street to Puerto Vallarta where the experience was 100 times better read more

Summary: This restaurant has a great ambiance and wonderful service, but unfortunately the food itself is just not up to par. Ambiance: Yes this restaurant looks unassuming in a strip mall on a street of strip malls, but once you walk in and descend a flight of stairs, it's like you enter a Latin-infused dream. The walls are filled with colorful decorations, there is lively music, and the tables are set beautifully. Visuals-wise, this is a great place for a special birthday/celebratory dinner or date night. Service: The waiters are so nice! They are quick, helpful, and easy to talk to. We were there for my bf's birthday, and they brought out a slice of cake for him and did a whole hilarious/embarrassing song routine. Food: We were excited by the extensive Cuban-inspired menu, including dishes like paella and ceviche, but the result was not outstanding. I ordered the Ginger Orange Tilapia, and both the fish and rice had a mushy texture. My bf's paella was decent but we've definitely had better. The best part of our meal was probably the oysters as appetizer, would recommend them. We also ordered Mango and Coconut Mojitos, and while they tasted good, they had minimal alcohol content, might as well be drinking juice. So although Ola is a beautiful restaurant and you will have a generally pleasant experience, don't come here looking for stellar Cuban food. read more

I was given a gift card to Ola and finally decided to use it while visiting Connecticut. Wow, what a nice surprise Ola is. The atmosphere is fun and festive and you feel like you are on vacation on an island. I ordered the guacamole appetizer and the salmon entree. The guacamole is light and flavorful and the salmon was out of this world! The presentation of the food is an art form and the staff is friendly and attentive. They have ladies night on Wednesday and their festive drink options look amazing. I ordered Flan for dessert and although I was full from my meal, the dessert was a nice ending to a perfect meal. Come check out Ola for a drink or a meal and it's a perfect date night and great for groups. read more

We came in for the second part to my Birthday Festivities! The waitress was so sweet and so joyous to have which is what great service is all about. We ordered empanadas for appetizer and main course steak which was seasoned to perfection. We also really liked the bread/sauce that comes out complimentary. We enjoyed the taste of the food and the atmosphere as well as the servers who were so kind. We Will be returning for dancing nights!! read more

The food is delicious so good I would recommend super duper great food and they have such good service and they are really nice

My husband, son and I are in New Haven for medical reasons, at Yale. We live about 3 hours away and used Yelp to find dinner last night. We were attracted to Ola both for the food and the festive atmosphere - nice to be "festive" before medical procedures! Anyway, you enter by walking down a steep staircase which makes it feel like you are entering another world with cool lighting and fun, colorful decor and the loveliest music. The hostess and our server were calm, friendly and just the right amount of attention. I ordered a virgin mojito with pineapple juice, tons of fresh mint and a sugar cane stalk - perfect in the heat wave! We shared the nachos appetizer (with pulled pork) which comes layered in a bowl and was delicious - none of their food is like a mingling sloppy mess. Each component is distinguishable from the next, put together with the most lovely and elegant presentation we have ever seen in a Latin restaurant. We also got the following: lobster quesadillas, cerviche, paella, pulled pork enchiladas, and a coconut cake of some sort. We give "A+" to ALL but the dessert was perhaps a "B". This restaurant was just the happy and delicious place we needed last night and if we wind up back this way we DEFINITELY will make it a point to return. I wish there was a Latin place of this caliber near me. It was memorable. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant. The mojitos have to be the best in the state. My favorite are the grape and coconut. The food is awesome as well. They have a few ahi tuna dishes that are delicious and the nachos can't be beat. Happy hour is from 4-6 and it goes by so quickly! They also usually have a Groupon, which is helpful for first timers to see if it's worth their money, but it definitely it! read more

Food, service and drinks always consistent and great! Good portions and presentation.

food and service were up to the par. much better then puerto Vallarta across the street.

I get extremely excited when I find a restaurant as good as Ola. Especially not living in a big city anymore, they're just further and far between (literally I guess) ya know? My parents have been raving about this restaurant for the past year or so now and I'm so glad I finally tried it out. From the cozy yet authentic atmosphere, to the presentation of their unique dishes, right down to the service...Ola is just plain awesome. First things first...drinks. Ola calls themselves a "Mojito Bar" and they deserve every right to title themselves that. They made by far the best mojitos I've had to date. They have about 10 different variations and they are all made with completely fresh fruit and ingredients. I had the mango mojito - made me feel like I was sitting on a beach. The sangria was really good too! As for the food....get ready. For appetizers we went for the lobster quesadillas and shrimp ceviche. The quesadillas were just crispy enough on the outside and just oozy enough on the inside. They were served with a side of guacamole to top it off. The ceviche was great - really fresh and presented in a fun martini glass with plantain chips. When our entrees came out we all had that 'oh my god can food really be this good?' look on our faces. I got the caramelized salmon. Yes, caramelized. The combination of sweetness with the salmon was so good. It was served over quinoa - yum! After dinner we headed to the bar for another drink and ended up chatting with the owner and his family. They are from Guatemala and the owner told us that a lot of the influence of the restaurant comes from his mother. You can tell they just genuinely love their business and work extremely hard to make sure all of their customers are happy. So I think you get it? Go to Ola - you can thank me later! read more

Ola is a hidden gem! Located in a very odd strip mall with a confusing entrance and parking situation - once you are inside, you forget where you are! The staff is lovely - every time! I never had poor service. The drinks are spot on and reasonably priced. And the food...the food is always spot on. The guacamole is wonderful - but ask for extra chips. I have had almost everything on the entree menu and i have never been disappointed. The flavors are great and the meat and fish is always cooked perfectly. I highly recommend! read more

Love the traditional mojito and Tiera meal. The empanadas are unbelievable. It is my favorite place.

As the majority of reviews attest, the food here is quite good. Everything we had was flavorful and artfully presented. Service is good. However, two major drawbacks: first, the prices are quite high for the Boston Post Road in Orange, with entrees in the $24-28 range. Especially if you consider the cheap quality of the fixtures - the tables, chairs, etc. - and the fact you're in the basement of a strip mall, the prices are unjustifiably high. On a Wednesday night, most of the other diners we saw looked to be mixed groups of adults, like co-workers having a business dinner - in other words, people perhaps on an expense account. The other thing on pricing is that you'll note that many other reviews mention Groupon or Living Social, which suggests the menu prices are inflated to make up for them. So if you don't use Groupon or their ilk, you're basically effed. Second, the menu is awful for vegetarians - not a single entree is vegetarian, and only one of the apps is (which I believe was just a bunch of grilled vegetables). The drinks menu looks almost identical to that of Pacifico in New Haven (except for some bizarre reason no prices are shown here), but the drinks are smaller (albeit a bit cheaper) - the Margarita clasica was merely okay. So if you're looking for a good meal and willing to drop some $40+ per person and/or find a coupon on a daily deal site, you should check this place out. read more

Fantastic! I don't know why I've never been before. Caipirinhas: perfect! Not too sweet, not too sour. It was our first time and they offer so many different options, so we stayed away from entrees (which looked enormous and good-- next time). We had an assortment of tapas: fish tacos, oysters, steak, arepas... And a plate of tostones. Because... Tostones. All of it was excellent; perfectly cooked, nice presentation, amazing service. Super attentive and nice. Couldn't be better, really. I can't wait to go back! read more

Absolutely wonderful. Came here with party of 30, which included children, for a small wedding celebration dinner. From first contact, Wagner at Ola Restaurant was eager to accommodate my and my wife's every request. We gave him a budget and he designed a perfect menu for us and our guests, including drinks! Wagner and I worked closely in the days leading up to the dinner and when my wife and I arrived, everything was perfect and as expected. Not only was the food amazing (lobster quesadillas are A MUST HAVE), but the service, WOW. We wanted for nothing. There was not a single moment during the night where a waiter or waitress could not be found. The Chef himself came out to greet my wife and I before the party began just to tell us he was looking forward to preparing the best meal possible. Incredible. Bottom line, Ola Restaurant in Orange is THE place to go, be it an intimate dinner for two or a much larger party. Bravo Ola, we thank you for making our perfect day complete. read more

We came here after finding a Groupon for the restaurant. After pulling into a mini mall, our expectations were pretty low. As soon as we entered the underground restaurant we were immediately impressed with the ambiance and decor. We continued to be impressed with the service, drinks, food, and even the dish presentation. We tried the mojitos, margarita, lobster quesadilla, paella, and churrasco. All were equally delicious and looked amazing. Not much more to really say here- this place is stellar and is one of the best restaurant experiences you can have in this area. We got a good deal with the Groupon- was slightly surprised by the high cost of the menu items- but it was so good we'd have no hesitations coming back and paying full price. read more

Awesome food and staff. Drinks are so tasty. If you don't drink alcohol just order it virgin and u won't be disappointed

Been here several times and I think it's just OK. Food is very hit or miss, and a lot of the items on the menu are very heavy or fried. Went recently and had very slow service, an overly oily pulled pork appetizer, and a dry chicken entree. Guacamole and Huaraches were good. read more

Drinks on point. Service on fleek. Food en fuego!!! :-D Get ready to feel like you're back on vacation! So I'm greatly anticipating my first trip to Ola in Wallingford because of my awesome experiences at Ola Orange. I don't even know where to begin, but let me put it this way: Ola is the kind of restaurant where the wait staff places your napkins on your lap for you, because they know the place is the freaking shiznit. The drinks are legit. My first and second time here I ordered a drink that had jalapeno in it (can't recall the name) but it's the perfect complement to a meal here. I've had drinks at other restaurants that try to be like Ola and they just fall flat. Too sweet or spicy or strong. Ola's bartenders actually know what they're doing. It shows. The food is crazy. This is the type of place that serves ridiculously beautiful plates... like with flowers and microgreens on them, super photogenic. As a vegetarian there are but a handful of dishes I can actually eat here, but I will tell you they are all quality and worth a visit: love the guacamole and huaraches. I hope to try the vegetarian paella next time! Basically I'm obsessed with Ola and so you should go ;-) read more

I went to this restaurant for the first time on a busy Saturday night(this past one). From the second we stepped in the door it was obvious the staff was overwhelmed. We were hurriedly shoved in the back room (regardless that we had reservations), and left unattended for 15 minutes. Finally someone came over asking if we would like "more" water. No, but we would like some water, and menus would be nice too. After this interaction our waitress came over, didn't bother to inform us of her name, and took our drink menu. She could not have been more miserable or rude to us. She completely made us feel uncomfortable and as if we didn't belong there. Long story short: We ordered some tapas, salads, and tacos to split. It took a very long time for any food to come and our tacos never came, despite having been told they'd "be right out." Our waitress seemed very put off by our request to get the tacos and thirty minutes passed until we cancelled them altogether (this was 1.5 hours after having been seated). She took them, and only them, off our bill. Even in the worst circumstances I tip %15-%18. I couldn't bring myself to tip a penny over %10. The service was among the worst I have ever encountered. Very disappointing experience, especially considering the food was good it had potential to be a 5 star experience. BTW- the star above is dedicated to the delicious mojito, since I couldn't give the experience 0 stars. read more

The meal was wonderful, drinks were great as well. They have a nice selection of white wines, I did not pay too much attention to the reds so I would not know. We ordered multiple appetizers and were pleased with each of them. The floors are a bit slippery, so be mindful if you're wearing slim heels or new shoes (which was me in this case). The staff was not as attentive as I'm used to and would have liked. The place was not so busy when we went in, so I expected just a bit more attention. Not someone all over us, but at least check on us once to see if the meal is good. This is why my review isn't 5 stars. read more

Came here in August to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Had passed by the restaurant many times but never considered it because it looks beat down from the outside. Yelp reviews changed my mind and I gave it a try. As soon as you open the doors, you'll be surprised by the nice decor (in comparison to what you would expect from the outside. We didn't have reservations so we ended up sitting at small high tables behind the bar. No complaints here though. Service was very good even though our tables were out of the way behind the bar. We started with the guacamole and chips. The presentation was beautiful, with fresh quacomole mashed up at our table. The chips were fresh and the assortment of chips was like no other restaurant I've been to...3 varieties, one of which were banana chips. This will definitely be a regular appetizer that we'll order. I had the seafood paella...the best I've ever had. There was more seafood than rice! My hubby had the ribs. Beautiful presentation for everything and the food was delicious. Can't wait to come back again, though a bit pricey so I'll have to save it for special occasions. read more
