Great down-to-earth coffee shop. Small space, but good service and cozy digs. I got the Kyoto coffee and it was perfectly made, delicious and well roasted coffee. Quick service as well.

Rose Vanilla Latte (~$6)

Ordered: Rose Vanilla Latte (~$6): with almond milk Aya's take: Honestly, I really wanted to like this more and I'm definitely being generous with my 4/5 rating. I really want to give it a 3/5 but because it was still good, I'll go with 4/5. The Rose Vanilla Latte tasted more like a vanilla/honey blend than anything. I'm a sucker for rose, but I didn't get any essence of it in any sip. The Latte was warm, soothing, and sweet but it just didn't have the flavors I was expecting. I'm hesitant to come back but if I do, I'd probably try a different specialty drink on the menu.

Baristas are always very knowledgeable and friendly. The drinks are super unique and the coffee is very smooth. I love whatever blend they use. They have reusable (Gluten free) straws. They also have good pastries, including a whole shelf that is gluten free (celiac safe bc it's pre-packaged.) The graphic design is very beautiful too. A little pricy but it is local

Tiny....but powerful. Being that we had just finished with lunch on Ditmars Blvd and had enough time before my daughter could catch her plane, my non-Yelp husband decided to come to this cafe on 33rd St in Astoria for some hot beverages. Damn right he was spot on. No indoor eating due to everything that's going on these days- but there's great coffee and other beverages from this space barely big enough to contain at least three baristas. My kid went for an Almond milk Latte and hubs decided on an Espresso. Both liked theirs. I put a Lavender London Fog order in- then noticed a Mexican Hot Chocolate on the menu. I intentionally bypassed it and thought it was done with that brown Hershey's syrup people all seem to love. Sure enough, when I asked if their Hot Chocolate has Hershey's (her look said it all), she turned around, cocked her neck and said, "no". My Lavender London Fog was just right without giving my drink that overkill "flowery" taste lavender usually gives when it isn't proportioned correctly. Dare I say, I regretted not going for their Mexican Hot Chocolate- on top of the Lavender London Fog I'd already ordered. To eat, there are cookies, savory items, at least 3 types of Empanadas and other Vegan bites on the menu. Service was awesome. And can I mention what my favorite thing (I have a few) about this place was? The space is a hideaway and just too damn cute- even with the chairs up for no-indoor eating the early Saturday afternoon we were here.

Embracing the non-chain, small business coffee shop for the win. Quaint, cozy and an ideal place to meet up with a friend or knock out some work. I selected the turmeric latte that was really good. The barista was helpful in her recommendation and made an excellent latte at a reasonable cost.

This cafe or small eatery is just that -okay-but, really not worth the hype. We found the breakfast sandwiches decent and the coffee decent, but they are definitely not worth a third look.

SPACE - small, intimate, cozy SERVICE - warm, friendly, helpful COFFEE - Counter Culture (Fast Forward Organic) - Americano double shot 8oz espresso NOTES - light roast, creamy texture, bright acidity, nutty - not bad but prefer med dark roast espresso over light RECOMMENDATIONS - looking forward to stopping by again to try other beans and brews!

Coffee is great, the ambiance is adorable, and the staff are friendly. I came in to pass some time while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. It was a rainy afternoon and I was so happy to spend some Time here. I sat in the window with my delicious coffee and enjoyed the community passing through. There are a whole bunch of great snacks and food items here. There is a hot chocolate that I am dying to try. There is also a cookie shop next door that would be great to dunk in the coffee here. There are also tasty treats here. I like that they cap the amount of time people can spend working if it's busy and that they encourage no screen time days.

Oh my goshhhh LOVE! This place is so cute, the baristas there are sweet and they love their locals & just being in there for 3 minutes whilst awaiting my cortado- the other barista starts talking to some local as if they were friends forever. I love the vibe & the energy was on point for just being there for a few minutes. If I was a neighborhood local in Astoria, this would be my spot. OK cafe is more than just OK, okuuuuuur keep being great you guys the cup was so goooood

Didn't get a chance to sit and sip my coffee, as I was told I was not allowed to use my iPad there. A stupid policy; I won't go back.

I decided to try their Coconut Pandan cake which was enjoyable except for the jelly they had in the middle. The cake itself was pretty moist and the cream had a nice Pandan flavor. The Portuguese egg tart is what you would expect from one of these bakery's, very basic but it was nice and flaky. The milk tea was also okay, we asked for less sugar so it was not too sweet. We also got the sesame mochi to go and this was delicious! Definitely the best thing I bought from this bakery. The sesame paste was nice and strong but not too gritty and the mochi was super soft. The prices for both sandwiches and bun have jumped up since January. I stopped here to get items for family and relatives/friends. Not impressed with their chicken sandwiches for they were hard and there is tendon in one other chicken sandwich has area that was not edible. The quality definitely not what it use to be here. There were lots of seats and tables for patrons to sit. Notice less foot traffic at this store.

We came by the day before Mother's Day, so they had pre decorated Mother's Day cakes. You can also place an order. Service is quick and friendly. We initially planned on getting a Strawberry Shortcake, as that seemed to be the cake to get. However, we opted for the Cheesecake, because we were able to add fresh strawberries (and whipped cream) on top! I'm not a fan of whipped cream, so I avoided that, but everyone seemed to enjoy. It had a good creamy texture and was not too sweet. The strawberries were indeed fresh. The pound cake was soft and airy. The vanilla flavor comes through. I will have to try the Marbled version next time! Note: Cash Only! A regular customer ordered the tiramisu cake; said it was the best cake ever, so will have to try that next time!

The tiramisu cake was absolutely delicious, honestly one of the best I've ever had. I didn't even know you could customize a tiramisu cake since it's usually served the traditional way, but they made it exactly how I wanted. As someone who loves tiramisu, this really stood out. I also ordered a strawberry shortcake, and it was just as impressive. The buttercream was so good , light, flavorful, and not overly sweet. Everyone loved it, and there wasn't a single slice left. The owner's son (I believe) was super helpful, he really takes the time to understand what you want and brings it to life perfectly. I've also tried their croissants, which are huge and delicious, and the hero bread is excellent too. Just a heads-up: they only accept cash.I'll definitely be ordering all my cakes from here moving forward!

Their hot milk tea is a cozy, comforting drink that warms the soul. Fay Da's milk tea may still hold the title for my favorite, but Yi Mei's version is a very close contender. The sponge cake? A pleasant surprise. Despite some folks claiming the bread isn't fresh, I've never really had a negative experience with them. But then again, I only get the sponge cake and I can't differentiate fresh vs not fresh between them (I'll just assume that if it's NOT fresh, I would have been able to tell). For ethnic places like Yi Mei, I don't put much weight on service standards. Comparing them to American restaurants would be like comparing apples to oranges. What truly matters is the authenticity and the food quality, and Yi Mei nails both. So, if you find yourself in the area with a rumbling stomach, swing by Yi Mei Bakery.
