Well, I'm disappointed to give this place only three stars because I really thought they had heart. Even after repeatedly paying a ridiculous amount for coffee, I was still team OK. That was until a very rude guy started working there. I went one day to work and get my caffeine on. When I went up to order, the guy behind the counter ignored me for a least a few minutes before he kinda acknowledged me. But he was more interested in chatting with a male customer and playing the new Madonna album... Ugh. I honestly can't say I've ever been wowed by the service, but I wasn't offended by it. While staying in Astoria my bestie and I decided to grab a coffee before hitting the Q to Manhattan. We stopped a lady on the street (since it was our first time in Astoria) and asked if there were any coffee shops that she recommended. She directed us to the OK Cafe, a new coffee shop which had apparently just opened a block down the street. Upon entering OK Cafe we were welcomed by a very friendly Barista. The place was fairly small but clean and hip. I was impressed by the assortment of milks they had, and some of their menu items peaked my curiosity (Popsicles anyone?). The latte that I ordered was heavenly, hands down the best coffee I have ever had, EVER! (So much so, I'm still talking about it!) the only complaint I have is that there sizes were too small, I wanted more! If you are in NYC, jump on the N or the Q and visit OK Cafe. Cute almost- (but slightly bigger than a) hole-in-the-wall cafe just a few blocks from the Ditmars-Astoria stop off the N/Q. Coffee is a tad overpriced, but when is it not? Drinks were unique, in a good way. My only quibble with the place is that the benches are so much higher than the chairs that if you happen to be sitting on the inside you look as if you're towering above the person across from you. This new-ish coffee bar deserves the 5 stars. High quality coffee beans, high tech brewing equipment, and delicious pastries are just part of the reason. This is the ONLY place in Astoria that makes a MEXICAN mocha latte. Yummy and spicy! The closest other place is Brooklyn Bagel but theirs is a mexican hot chocolate. Not the same thing! And what really blew me away is that after coming here religiously once a week for at least 3 months, one of the nice baristas offered me a punch card with a whole bunch of punches for the times I hadn't had one to use. She didn't have to even offer me the card, but that she did with the punches, was exceptionally nice. Don't come here expecting to hog the wifi and do much work. Again and again, this is my favorite coffee shop in the world. Perfect as usual. I'll tell you why... When you walk in there is usual 1 of 2 very nice gentlemen/baristas who are more than willing to give you the best service. That is: recommendations of which pastry will balance the taste of your coffee, or which coffee may suite your taste, or just being awesome to chat with!! Sometimes, I believe it is the owner, is also there. She's so bright and cheery and just makes your morning that much more beautiful! :) More reasons why it's my favorite... They serve you good wholesome items. Organic products are used and there are more choices than just milk. Almond milk( and I think they have soy, but personally I stay away from soy, so I'm not 100% positive.) Freshly baked goods! I love it! They have these homemade pop tarts that are bangin'! I definitely recommend any of the many flavors they offer. I've tried all of them. Lastly, they are small and cute. Personally, I love this atmosphere as well. There are usually only a few people at a time inside and it's just a cute cozy little place. It has kind of a homey feel. :) My favorite drink is the maple almond latte with the blueberry pop tart. I'll take a picture someday... Usually I gobble it right up, but next time I'll try really hard not to, lol. Peace and love! read more

This is a small, cute cafe with yummy drinks. The drinks are only 1 size. I had the lavendar early grey and it was delicious. They also had some gluten-free cookies. The baristas were friendly and explained the different drinks to my husband. The inside is small and cozy. The signs outside were catch and funny. We walked by it in our way to lunch and came back after we ate to warm up with hot drinks. read more

This little cafe is so cute and their cold brew is phenomenal. I love that it's owner operated - don't let corporate (like cafe bene opening around the corner) take all the love and originality out of astoria. Everyone who works here is super friendly - they have a customer loyalty card - every ten drinks earns you a free drink, the milk is organic and the coffee high quality. So pleased that this little joint has come to my hood. read more

Have lived across the street for years and used to love this place. It has been declining slowly and I've given it many tries in the last few months but it is officially the most overpriced tea in town with the rudest employees. They have ruined my day more than once with their aggressive attitudes and I am finally writing them off after today. Plenty of other reasonably priced cafes with kinder employees. read more

This place is adorable! It's a tiny little coffee shop and the guy there really knows his coffee! I love supporting locals vs Starbucks and Dunkin. There are only about 8 seats so definitely more of a grab and go place. Nice selection of not only coffee, but hot chocolate too. They also sell a few pastries. I really enjoyed my recent cortado here. It's a lovely, cozy little place with an atmospheric tin ceiling and excellent coffees. For a long time, this corner of Astoria didn't have high quality coffee. Then Astoria Coffee and bagel house showed up; but the new arrivals, OK Cafe and 40 beans, have raised the game to new levels. I'm delighted to see these folks here, and I hope they succeed. If I still lived in Queens, I could imagine curling up in here with a few coffees and a suitably pretentious book. Maybe french philosophy, even though I don't really read such things anymore. It's that kind of place, but in a good way. read more

I've updated my review of OK Cafe. It's probably one of my favorite cups of coffee in all of Astoria. Yes there are other options, but this place is just perfect. The staff is amazingly kind, the coffee is wonderful, have not tried the food yet though! Do yourself a favor and pop in the next time you're close by. AND, in the summer, have their Iced Coffee (Kyoto) - holy jet fuel. read more

I thought the lemonade/iced tea arnold palmer type thing was a tad sweet but it's a really nice space and a nice place to get a bit of work done. I find it kind of annoying how many coffee shops in NYC don't really make it easy to do work considering how small a lot of the apartments in town are but at OK Cafe they turn the wifi on during the weekdays and off during the weekends which I think is a fair compromise. read more

I took a lactaid in preparation of trying their Magic 8 ball. Made with chicory coldbrew and brown sugar syrup, I'd been afraid that this would be too strong and sweet. It was neither. The heavy cream in this performed it's balancing act perfectly, cutting the bite of the chicory coldbrew; it was sweetened just enough to make this silky beverage that much easier to slip down my throat. read more

This is my favorite café place in Asoria/ Ditmars. I live here more than six months now but somehow this place flew below my radar. I ordered the Mexican spice latte which was delicious, and chicken empanadas which was baked- a rare commodity among the fried ones in every other spot. Moved right upstairs from OK in March and am so thrilled to have this quaint, delicious coffee shop right downstairs from me. I work on Long Island, so it's wonderful having my first stop here in the morning before my long commute. The maple almond latte, matcha latte, and almond croissants are my go-to items, but there is always so much to choose from. The staff are super friendly and I consistently witness regulars strolling in each morning. The staff is great at remembering what drinks you like and are very accommodating. Came here on a sleepy Monday morning for a coffee jolt before getting into some serious work - very impressed! Small, cute, and friendly! So refreshing to have an intimate coffee shop in the area away from the prefab, huge coffee-study joints. Barista was super friendly, was happy to explain the drink menu to me. The cheddar and chive biscuit was very yummy and surprisingly spicy and the ice coffee was on point! To top it off, they're community oriented! They were involved in a kids "Where's Waldo" hunt when I came in! The barista was incredibly adorable helping the kids out and made them feel special for playing the game. 5 stars for a small neighborhood vibe and overall adorableness! read more

Oh yes now I remember why I don't come here. Because the coffee is good I occasionally forget and I wander in by mistake. But when I ask for light ice in my iced coffee they will refuse or they will only fill the cup up part way. Even after I point out it says 16oz directly under the price on the board, which means legally I am allowed the 16oz of coffee as advertised. But they seem comfortable with their false advertising so rather than spend my time complaining to the better business bureau I will just sit here and write a bad review using their wifi and try to remember not to come here in future. read more

I love small business coffee shops and refuse to support chains like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts (judging all of you on Ditmars that have all these coffee options and still go to chains -_-) I was excited to try this place and I will say the staff/baristas were great and really kind. I was very disappointed with their signature Lattes.. it was overpriced for the quality I received. I have been to Queens Room and the new Qwns coffee shop and have to say their Mochas and Lattes are just higher quality and consistent. read more

Really liked this little coffee shop until today. I was in here with two friends and our children after school, around 3 pm. The kids are young (3.5 year olds) and they were excited for hot chocolate on a cold afternoon. When we first walked in the kids were talking in raised voices which we addressed, and it took a few minutes to get settled. Once we were all sitting, 3 little kids enjoying hot chocolate and 3 moms talking and catching up with each other, an employee came over and told us we needed to keep it down because "people are trying to work". Our kids were seated, not disturbing anyone. There were only 2 other customers. OK Cafe should display a sign that says No Children Allowed. I sense that this is their unofficial policy but they lack the nerve to step up and say it directly. Instead, they essentially kick paying customers out of their nearly empty establishment AFTER taking money for three hot chocolates and two coffees. Parents, stay away, you are not welcome. OK Cafe, step up and take responsibility for your prejudices. read more

Extremely bad customer service. I came in here with 3 friends. We ordered two drinks and a cookie and because not everyone ordered something we could not sit and enjoy our purchases there. It was 7pm on a Saturday and we were the only ones in the whole place with other tables open. The woman should have used her judgement before enforcing such a ridiculous rule, which was not posted by the way. Instead we left with a very bad taste in our mouths and mediocre overpriced teas. We went out of our way to go there because they had vegan options for me and it ruined our evening. Please choose one of the copious other options in the Astoria area. read more

I went in for a coffee early (9AM) Sunday morning. The cafe was empty, and I took out my computer to prepare work for the week. I wasn't using the cafe's wifi, and I set my phone timer for 1 hour, but the Greek woman running the cafe kicked me out right away. She said she didn't allow laptop computers and that Starbucks was the place for me. When I showed her the timer and told her I'd be out before brunch, she said to get out. I told her I would leave a review of the experience on Yelp, and she said she didn't care and that the customers she wants don't care about Yelp reviews. This is my third time at the cafe on a Sunday. The past two times I used my computer to do work. I will not be returning, and I encourage customers to visit a more welcoming cafe like NYCBCH on 23rd where the there are no grumpy old ladies on staff. read more
