Came here during a heat wave of 100 degrees in the summer. I really wanted to love this place but it was unbearable to sit in here. It's definitely not temperature friendly. They rely on an old-looking AC unit that isn't really blowing in cold air when I felt it. The air felt pretty warm. The seats are also fabric which doesn't help with heat waves. The staff were super nice though. This is probably better suited for a spring or fall hang rather than a summer and winter one. I wish I'd thought to take a photo of this Oreo Nutella Croissant - but I couldn't wait to dive in. It was incredible! Buttery, flaky, chocolatey, with a bit of a crunch. I also had a Caramel Latte which was great. The prices here are wonderful - I paid just around $15 total. The employees were kind - even during a very busy Sunday morning rush. I went out of my way to come here, passing by several other neighborhood coffee shops, and I'm glad I did. Ordered: Rocket Fuel (~$6) with Lavender syrup (75¢) Aya's take: I pass by Coffee Ave all the time and have never tried it - until now! I desperately needed a strong coffee to start and get me through the day. Luckily, they have something called Rocket Fuel on their menu which is exactly what I needed. I don't really know how much coffee or espresso shots are included but it definitely did the job. I like that the creaminess from the milk balanced out the boldness from the coffee. The Lavender syrup I added gave it a nice floral essence but was way too subtle and could've used a bit more syrup to make it stand out a bit more. The customer service was also a 10/10; shout out to Eddie who had amazing vibes and gave recommendations on the menu. He was awesome and gave me that added energy boost along with the Rocket Fuel. A hidden gem in the heart of Queens, Broadway-30th street. Got a few pasteries and it was superb!! The spinach feta cheese pie was so tasty and the chocolate croissant was pretty salty sweet. They also have sandwiches available and empanadas it seems. The service is accommodating and friendly!! Saw a few people study here and would like to do that and try their beverages soon. Stopped by here and grabbed some pastries for my family. The staff were very efficient and friendly. The cheese bread was so good and fresh. My kids loved the chocolate crescent because it was fluffy haha. My partner loved the spinach cheese thing it was a perfect mix of cheese spinach and pastry. Obsessed is an understatement. This cafe has been my go to for the past month. The coffee is always amazing & all the food items that I have tried so far are fresh & delicious! Best bacon, egg & cheese & it's only $6? In Astoria? Cmon, that's unbeatable. The pandebono cheese bread is out of this world. Apple pie is my dad's absolute favorite - it's so fresh & made with different types of apples & a splash of cinnamon. I don't know if I'm the only one but sometimes Apple desserts can be too sweet and end up with me having heartburn which is never fun but not this one haha! Food and coffee was great but customer service was 2/10. First off, the baristas didn't know what a flat white was. Second, they got annoyed because my boyfriend and I had a longer order. Third, we ordered everything to go and they gave us one of the sandwiches on a plate and one lady got annoyed when my bf asked for it to be wrapped. This is based on Too Good to Go. I don't really leave reviews for those orders but it was such a standout bag of pastries. I don't know the names of all of them, but what I assume to be the Pao de Queijo was a clear standout - such a buttery, flavorful, and hard (in a good way) exterior with a moist and chewy inside. The taquito-looking pastries had cheese inside, and was my 2nd favorite. The spinach pie and the apple pie (a little too mushy of a filling) were okay but nothing stood out. The potato empanada was the only thing that was bad - the exterior was hard/stale but probably from being heated all day. I would come back for the cheese bread, it was fantastic. read more

During one of my walks around the neighborhood, I finally decided to try this small café located on the corner of quiet 34th Ave and 33 Street in Astoria. I've walked by a few times since they opened in late January but have never been inside until today. They have a few small café tables outside and along with some cool looking wall art. The inside is small but clean, with lots of sun exposure, and has a cool, laid back vibe. They do offer indoor seating and there are 2-3 small tables to left of the entrance as well as bar seating along the right. Even though it is a small place, it did not feel claustrophobic. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the lady behind the counter. She was so helpful and friendly. I came around 6pm and it looked like most of their pastries were already gone. I ended up ordering a couple empanadas (Hawaiian and the spinach). Both had a nice delicate, flaky crust. I really liked the Hawaiian empanada and appreciated that it was on the menu, as you do not often see this offered at other cafes. I also got the Oreo Mousse which had hazelnut praline, vanilla cream on a chocolate cake base and topped with Oreo pieces. It was wonderfully creamy, sweet and hazelnutty. The menu also offers other heartier fare like burgers, sandwiches, and salads. I really need to do another visit when they have more items out. Plus, I just realized that I did not even try any of their hot beverages...doh! As usual, I was distracted by food and forgot about ordering a beverage. That is okay though, I like supporting local businesses and Coffee Avenue is a nice addition to this neighborhood. read more

I really wanted to like this place. The vibe is cute, the white mocha was decent and the chairs are comfortable. However, neither of the 2 baristas seemed motivated to be there. Normally a coffee shop like this should get 3 or 4 stars, but their store is a hazard waiting to happen! By that, I mean some of the chairs are so close to the edge of an elevated floor that you can literally fall back and break your back or worse. Why they came up with seating arrangement, I will never know, but hence why this coffee shop only gets 1 star. As for the coffee and teas, they were decent. My love of croissants m made me sample the croissants from this bakery. While on a walk, I noticed how busy this cafe was past 7 and decided to give it a try! The croissants from this bakery were excellent! I usually opt for the classic butter croissant, which was the perfect balance of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I was surprised at how much I liked the Nutella and chocolate croissant! Everything felt so fresh and delicious! I would definitely return here and try some of their other baked goods! Disappointing when I was really excited based on the reviews. The barista seemed lost and inattentive. I stood in front of the register for like 5 minutes before she asked what I wanted to order. The iced matcha latte tasted great but first she forgot I also ordered a croissant ham sandwich and then she forgot it was in the toaster oven so I had to ask her and it kind of burned. I also didn't see much of any dessert options like I saw online, there was a very small selection. The seating also was kind of awkward because the couch is much lower than the table. I was really craving an iced latte and burger paring ( overlooked combination ) and this spot really fulfilled my craving. The iced latte was super refreshing and the burger was juicy and delicious. Perfectly seasoned, nice THICK patty- I'd say a quarter pound, homemade to perfection. It taste exactly like my mom made it. The owner is also extremely nice! They threw in free cheese sticks on the house because Uber eats was delayed. I've ordered take out over 200x since Moving to New York and not once has an establishment included free menu items for a courier being late! This was Ubers fault! Not the restaurant. SO NICE. I feel blessed to have Googled "coffee spots near me"and be shown this GEM of a coffee spot. The coffee is just so so good, I could cry. I either get a hot oat latte with 1.5 sugars and a dash of cinnamon or an iced caramel oat latte and I am always so so happy when I take that first delicious sip. I was also coming here everyday for a little over a week and the kind barista noticed that I was always staring at the tahini pastry and then not getting it, so she gave it to me on the house and said "try it and let me know" - it just means a lot. You best believe I'll be getting one every week now! Dogs are also welcome here, which is just the best, because it makes this place feel cozy and homey. Every barista has been so warm and kind, and the energy is just so good. I love this place! The prices are steepish, but I truly think it's worth it. I love this place, it is pet friendly, serves great coffee, and has free wifi. Plus, I am a sucker for the Greek pastries like the tiropitas and spanakopitas they sell behind the bakery glass on the counter. Friendly affordable, and a real neighborhood feel, not snotty and overpriced, but also not too chatty and leisurely. A true perfect balance when it comes to NYC service.
