Coffee Lab is, scientifically speaking, exactly what you would want in a coffee shop. Great coffee? Tasty snacks and baked goods? Friendly baristas? Clean space with plenty of seating? Strong wifi? Check, check, check, check, freaking CHECK. It's got it all. It's like it was made in a--wait for it--LABORATORY to be just what I needed. All that to say, if you're looking for any or all of the above, no need to look further.

I had a delicious Americano with oat milk light and sweet with a guava and cheese empanada. It was really good. This place is really cute with seating so you can sit back and relax. The service was wonderful, I am not a real coffee drinker so the wonderful server said give it a try and let me know. I had no complaints. I will go again on my journey to work in the mornings.

Astoria isn't lacking in coffee shops but it's still nice to see when a new one opens. Coffee Lab is located on the quiet corner of 31st Avenue and 34th Street in Astoria. This is a great place to hang out, work or just people watch. The space isn't huge but the floor to ceiling windows that opens out into the street makes for a very bright and welcoming space. There is free Wifi, plenty of seating (inside and outdoor), really good coffee and friendly staff. Their menu mainly consists of hot & cold drinks and pastries. And prices are comparable with other cafes in Astoria. If you happen to be in this part of the neighborhood, definitely try them out. Tip: Wifi password is TheCoffeeLab3420

Nice place with nice decor but takes FOREVER to make your coffee. Waited a good while for this cup of offer and the place is not busy.

Overall, I had a mixed experience here. The quality of the coffee can be irksome at best, and the few times I arrived, a regular cup of coffee was okay at best. Basically, it depended on who served me and what time of day I was there. See my photo of my regular coffee The plus side of this new spot is that the owners have turned it into a popular internet cafe, where many spend hours on their laptops doing whatever they do, even holding meetings. They also seem to stay open late, which is another plus of the community on 31st Avenue. The bottom line is that they are a work in progress.

    Iced Latte (~$5)

Ordered: Iced Freddo Cappuccino (~$5) Iced Latte (~$5): with oat milk (50¢) + sugar-free vanilla (25¢) Aya's take: New coffee shop alert! I love a good coffee shop, especially one that 1) has good espresso, 2) has cute branded cups, and 3) has plenty of natural lighting and seating. The Iced Freddo Cappuccino is a traditional Greek drink that's creamy, foamy, and strong. It has a strong coffee flavor that is mellowed down as you mix the frothed milk more and more. It could use a little bit of sweetness as it isn't really sweet on its own. I wish they recommended that to me or explained the best way to order this. The Iced Latte was very well-made! All the flavors and ingredients came together so well. From the bitterness and richness of the espresso to the sweetness from the sugar-free vanilla to the freshness of the oat milk. I love their cups and the caffeine chemical symbol on the back. It's a great way to stand out among the many cafes and coffee shops in Astoria. Hope they do well here and I will be back!

I ordered an iced Nutella latte, and on the menu they had a M or L option. But when I ordered the guy just bluntly was like "it comes in large" and nothing else like wym I see a stack of 2 different sized cups behind you? I didn't feel like wasting my breath so I just said fine and took the large cuz maybe the drink was good? Mid at most. Overall the place looked nice but there were 2 workers with not much hospitality of like "welcome in" or "hi what can I get you" just "ready?" which rlly grinds my gears

I went there to get my espresso and green tea matcha latte as usual and l am writing to formally raise a concern about your staff members during my recent visit to your coffee shop. I found her behavior and appearance to be highly unprofessional and concerning. The staff member in question had long hair that was left untied while handling food and drinks, which raises serious hygiene issues. Additionally, she was noticeably rude to customers, including myself, which made the overall experience very unpleasant. As a paying customer, I expect basic standards of cleanliness, professionalism, and courtesy from the staff. Unfortunately, this incident did not reflect those standards. I hope you will address this matter promptly to ensure better service and hygiene for your customers in the future.

OMG! This new corner coffee shop is a charm. I knew from a far that it would be an excellent place to try. The baristas here are so friendly and welcoming, despite how busy it was they were so sweet! I got an iced decaf biscoff latte and that was bussing. I never had such a sweet latte that I actually downed in a matter of 10 seconds, lol I'm dramatic but that's how it feels! The cafe itself is chic and super clean. They have many variety for drinks that are probably seasonal so I can't wait to try what else they have to offer. I also peeped matcha cloud on their menu, I can't wait. And yes there's WiFi!!

    Literally after one sip.

Coffee portions are off, and the taste could be better. The Biscoff doesn't taste like biscoff and the barista didn't seem to care when mentioned. Ordered the Freddo Cappuccino with Biscoff syrup. Way too much milk for a cappuccino - it was borderline a latte.

Cortado 8 oz Choco Chip Scone

Stopped by for a coffee and pastry late morning on a weekday before doing some errands. There were only a few people sitting down and no line. The cortado I ordered isn't my normal drink so I'm not a great judge of quality there but I enjoyed it along with the chocolate chip scone. The prices were very reasonable and I'll definitely be back.

Freddo cappuccino and Pistachio cream latte

My girlfriend and I came here on a Friday, and it was a little busy. The overall ambiance was great and the service was fine. The drinks, however, were quite underwhelming. I ordered the freddo cappuccino and it had way too much steamed milk for my liking (the picture was accurate so that is my own fault...). My gf ordered the pistachio cream latte, and it also had too much of the steamed milk. The only pistachio flavor seemed to come from pistachio butter, which gave a peanut butter taste that wasn't very pleasant.

They have a table to pickup preorders so you don't have to wait in the main line. I ordered a dozen for $39. You can select your assortment. Here's my review in order from the best to the least desirable, according to our group. Vanilla custard- the filling was thick and speckled with vanilla beans. It wasn't too sweet. This was the best according to our group. Strawberry filled- this is most traditional and Breads Bakery does a nice job. The jam is homemade. Pistachio- this doughnut was filled with smooth pistachio cream and was topped with a few pieces of pistachio. Not traditional, but they did a good job. Chocolate- the filling tasted like a semisweet or bittersweet cream/custard. Like the others, it was smooth. The vanilla was more popular among our group and I personally didn't love this doughnut. Mango- this was the one that those in my group felt missed the mark. It wasn't cloyingly sweet, so that was good, but the filling didn't do anything for us either. If you're looking for a mango dessert the one at Lysée is a real winner.

When I moved to the UES, I was worried finding a new local roaster. I've had bad experiences where the beans are too oily or something is off that messes with my usually grind size/extraction time. No issues with Oslo's beans. 2. They actually know how to make a proper americano. Every coffee shop takes a standard cup, puts in the espresso shot, and then fills hot water to the brim of the cup. This destroys the flavor of the espresso. You end up with hot water that tastes slightly like coffee. Oslo chooses quality over quantity. They don't fill the water up to the brim, so you have a cup with 2/3 of liquid; however, this is a proper americano. You can taste the difference. At other shops, I just get drip coffee because they don't know what they're doing. Oslo knows what they're doing. That's why I come here.

We were a little late for our reservation, and they gave our table away, which was quite annoying. However, the service, hospitality, and food more than made up for it. Someone came over to apologize for the mix up and offered us complimentary white wine while we waited for another table to open up. The wine was delicious! When we were finally seated, we started with some drinks. I got the Speranza, and it was light, fresh, and delicious! We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary bread basket brought to the table, as it's a rarity in nyc these days. We split a burrata amongst the table. Loved the addition of figs. I ordered the rigatoni all'aragosta for my dish, which was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. There was a decent portion of lobster in the dish, and I couldn't even finish all of it, I was so full. One of the best pasta dishes I've had in a while. My friends ordered the bolognese and the fettuccine alla nerano, and they enjoyed their dishes as well! We skipped dessert this time, but I would definitely be back for it. I also want to try the paccheri next time, as well as their coffee shop in the mornings! Overall, a well executed restaurant with great ambience (would be great for a date night with the dim lighting and ability to hear each other speak). They just need to get a bigger dining room so they can seat more parties because they always seem to be booked full!

The pasta was good. Reasonable amount of pasta but we would have liked some more chunks of lobster for the price. I thought the sauce was only ok but my girlfriend liked it. The guazzetto di Pesci was only fair. The sauce was lacking flavor. Also a very small bowl of broth with maybe 3 small shrimp and muscles, a few small chunks of fish. and two sad, tiny pieces of bread on the side. Since we were still quite hungry after the meal, we ordered the lotus chocolate caramel dessert. This was the only dish we really liked. kinda hard to mess up gelato though. It came with a hard outer candy shell and a very small cookie center that was sweet and delicious. Overall, an average meal at best that we both felt was lacking in taste and size. Won't return.
