Friends invited us to Ojeda's for lunch, and we're glad they did. The restaurant is spacious, and we were seated in a booth by a window. One section has no windows, so we appreciated that. The menu is extensive, so there should be something for everyone. Chips, salsa, and water arrived promptly, followed soon after by the margaritas we ordered. We had enough time to chat without waiting too long for our food. I ordered the huevos divorciados with eggs over easy. The rojo sauce had a nice touch of spice, and both the rojo and verde sauces were delicious. We'd definitely come back to Ojeda's to meet our friends again.

It doesn't matter if it's been weeks, months or even years between visits, I always know what's in store when I come to Ojeda's. There's no such thing as an "off day" here because this place is as consistent as it gets. One of the things that I look forward to the most is their award winning salsa. Even if someone else hadn't given it a blue ribbon, it would still be number 1 to me. Considering the amount of Tex Mex restaurants we have around here, that's a big deal! I also love the fact that they sell jars of it at the front counter to take home. The enchilada dinner I got this time was excellent as well, and that even includes the refried beans. They are my least favorite part of the meal everywhere else and I rarely finish them, but they do something different here that makes them so tasty. Of course a good Tex Mex meal isn't complete without a margarita (or 2)! Watch out though, because the bartenders don't skimp on the alcohol and the tequila has a way of sneaking up on you, especially when the mix is really sweet. The more time that goes by the greater my appreciation grows for this place. After so many positive experiences in the past I know I can rely on more of the same in the future.

Daily special Monday! Beef Puffed Taco, cheese enchilada with rice & beans = $9.50

Cute inside - love the lights in the bar! My friend and I both had the Monday $9.50 daily special that came with a puff beef taco, a cheese enchilada, beans and rice. Yum! Loved the cheese enchilada the most. One star off for the beans - really stiff! They make their own chips and salsa in-house and you can tell - delish! Excellent service - definitely a family affair...you can tell how much everyone who works here truly cares.

Large house margarita with chips and salsa

This place has plenty of reviews, and after visiting, I can see why. Ojeda's is a spacious Tex-Mex spot with fun decor. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with genuinely friendly service. Heads up: there are two entrances. I accidentally walked into the takeout/to-go counter at first instead of the sit-down entrance, but staff were quick to point me in the right direction. I read beforehand that the margaritas can be strong, and that definitely checked out. The large (16 oz) house margarita packed a punch, so keep that in mind if you're driving or ordering more than one. Chips and salsa came out quickly, and the salsa leans on the hotter side, but it's still very manageable, even for someone like me, as long as you pace yourself before the food arrives. I ordered the brisket tacos, which were excellent and came with rice, beans, and fresh slices of tomato and avocado. Portions were generous, and I definitely left full and happy. Overall, this is a solid Tex-Mex option I'd absolutely return to and keep in my regular rotation when I'm nearby.

This place is a standard Tex-Mex restaurant that has a ton of different margarita flavors and options and a ton of different food options. It's family, friendly and more than likely. There's something on the menu for everyone, but remember it's Tex mix. I really like all the different varieties of drinks & food to choose. Good vibe & pretty loud but casual atmosphere.

Combo Fajitas

Great place for some Tex mex. I've never been disappointed with anything I've had from here. Normally don't get fajitas but was craving them this time. They were really good and cooked well. Had a few there and then some leftovers that I made a quesadilla with for lunch another day.

I came here for dinner last night with my dad. He's been coming here for 20 years and our server recognized him and was very sweet. I wasnt a big fan of the chips and salsa- the chips didn't seem fresh and the salsa was too spicy and just not great. Our margaritas were great subs we shared some steak fajitas. The fajita stuff was cooked really well and was super tasty. If you want Tex Mex, definitely recommend this gem.

Happy hour Strawberry Margarita

We eat out a lot and are always trying new places but Ojeda's has been serving great flavorful food for years /although I love the beef enchiladas w queso and the charro beans in a bowl ( let the church say Amen!I remembered that they served a massive grilled Tilapia with vegetables and awesome sauce for my fish ! Oh it is so delicious and seasoned and cooked to perfection. Of course we started with a cup of queso and warm chips and salsa always tide me over until my entree arrived ! It was happy hour ( we never make it to happy hour) so I had to order frozen strawberry margarita ( small one ) ! It also served as my frozen dessert.. never been a fan of the flan but my dinner companion LOVES their flan( something about the correct consistency ) because if it's bad he would definitely let someone know but it was fantastic as always and I have leftovers for a midnight snack ! I don't think I have ever had to wait for a table ( it's because the seating area ( 4 or 5 rooms are huge !

Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas

While visiting Ojeda's Mexican Restaurant for a wedding weekend, we made a stop since it's one of my husband's favorite Mexican spots in Dallas. Overall, it was just okay for me. The highlight was definitely the margarita. It was really good and probably the best part of the meal. I ordered the sour cream enchiladas with rice and beans. They were decent, but not the best I've had, so I wasn't blown away. The chips were fresh and tasty, and I preferred the hot salsa over the mild. Service was good and attentive throughout our visit, which I appreciated. On the way out, we purchased some peanut brittle, which was a nice touch. It was good, just a bit on the sweeter side. Prices felt fair for what you get. Overall, nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either--just an okay experience.

The location I'm referring too

I a, posting this here for awareness: I've been coming to this spot since Cinco de Mayo, and I want to start by saying the service has genuinely been great every time, that's not in question. My issue is with a recent visit. I came in for just a drink, like I always do, and this time was told I had to purchase food to be served, due to TABC regulations. I understand and respect TABC rules; they exist for a reason and should absolutely be followed. My problem is that this has never been enforced on any of my previous visits. Every other time, staff took my drink order, I paid, and that was that. The one time this came up was the one time the owner was present. If TABC compliance is the standard, it should be applied consistently by every staff member, every time; not only when ownership happens to be in the building. I'd encourage the business to review their camera footage, since it will show multiple visits where I was served a drink with no food purchase. I also have the receipts to back this up. To be clear, I wouldn't have minded ordering food if I'd been hungry ; I just wasn't, and I've never had an issue getting served a drink alone before. Bottom line: the staff and service have been excellent, and I'd rather deal with them than the owner, who came across as unnecessarily strict in the moment. If that's the standard, it needs to be consistent across the whole team; inconsistent enforcement is what actually creates liability. Updated response to owner from google: I've been a regular here since Cinco de Mayo, and the service has genuinely been great every visit, that's not what this review is about. This review is about consistency and compliance. On my most recent visit, I was told I had to purchase food with my drink because of TABC regulations. I don't dispute that this is a real requirement; I understand and respect it. What I'm calling out is that it has NOT been enforced on any of my prior visits. Every other time, staff took my drink order, I served, paid, and left; no food required, no mention of the rule at all. This isn't a matter of me misunderstanding the situation. I know exactly what was and wasn't required on each visit because I lived it, and I have the receipts to prove it. The only time this rule was enforced was the one time the owner happened to be on site. That tells me this isn't being applied consistently by the staff; it's either not being trained properly, or it's being selectively enforced. If this is genuinely a state law, it needs to be followed every time, by every employee, regardless of who's watching. I told the manager on duty (who identified herself as the owner) to pull the camera footage; it will confirm exactly what I'm describing. I'm posting this for awareness. If this rule hasn't been enforced with me, it likely hasn't been enforced with other customers either, and that's a liability issue for the business, not just a customer service one. The staff have been great to me personally; this is specifically about the lack of consistent training/enforcement around a legal requirement. Because now it's a legal requirement but illegal actions have been done. Also if we are missing each other point I would love for the real owner to reach out to me directly, if the two ladies onsite were just a manager and regular employee, because your not trying to make seem as though I don't under the law!

Our cocktails were all good - and the appetizers were very good. We had the crispy pork belly and the tostaditas with barbacoa. The crispy pork belly was especially delicious and I would order as my own dinner in the future. It comes with onions and sauces and corn tortillas and it's to die for - so crispy and flavorful. We ordered the Bistec enchiladas and they were good but not as good as the appetizers. They give you a variety of sauces when you're seated that you keep throughout the meal - from mild to spicy but I would say the "spicy" is on the mild side. Still good and flavorful but not unapproachable for most ppl. We had the Campechana dessert and it was a little strange. It was basically a vanilla Icecream cake with a crispy waffle cone like layering that was really hard to break until it sat a while. It was oddly addicting but also not that good? I can't explain it. We went to the cigar lounge area after dinner and had Mexican espresso martinis and watched football before heading home. There was little smoke smell but very minimal until it got later. Around 8:30 (on a Saturday night) ppl started smoking cigars and they opened the side windows and being 90degrees right now - it became less enjoyable so we decided to end the night. In the fall that room would probably be quite lovely with the windows open. They have comfortable seating and fire pits. Really more of a 4.5 out of 5. Loved the decor near the restrooms and patio too.

There was a time when Meso Maya was the go-to for upscale Mexican in Dallas. The culinary scene in Dallas has changed so much that it is not longer the case. But the downtown Meso Maya remains an icon and continues to deliver consistently good food and service. The restaurant still has the warm ambience and remains in good condition even after all these years. It was too hot to sit on the patio so we ate indoors. The interior is smaller than I remember. The restaurant still starts you out with complimentary chips which are strips, and a smoky, spicy salsa. it was great. I started with the a mescal margarita and it was excellent. The kid had Topo Chico and the wife had Prosecco. Everyone enjoyed their drink. For entrees, the wife had her favorite, the vegetable budin, which is like a lasagna. The flavors were deep and rich. She loved it. I tried the carne tacos and they were excellent! The meat was tender and smoky. The beef had been marinated for a wonderful flavor. Good quality with no fat. I usually avoid ordering beef at restaurants because I often get more fat than meat which I detest, but not at Meso Maya. Our server Luis was very good. Original review: I really wanted to love this place, and I was so close to doing so. The good: the ambiance was cute and fun. Loved the decorations, the bar is big and takes up a lot of the area where some of the tables are making it a little crowded but that's not a big deal. They had a performer there that night and that was cool. The item we were so excited to try was the biggest disappointment, the chicharon! It looked so good but it was so bland and chewy. We thought it might have been undercooked and ordered another second and asked them to cook it longer but alas it was like chewing on nothing. And that is the common denominator with all the food here. It was so bland. The only item I enjoyed was the jalapeño and cheese sausage. The salsa was bland. The meats were bland. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The drink in the bowl was good. But other than that the meal was a disappointment which is truly sad because we were looking forward to the meal, and it was pricey too. Had the food been good we wouldn't have been bothered by the price. We needed some flavor that day.
