We ordered birria tacos, and a taco combo. They were all great, good flavors, chips and salsa had a warm homemade tasting salsa. The stars of the show were the green salsa that I put in everything and our server that was single-handedly managing the whole front of the house. Great place, family-relaxed vibes. I hate to do this, but we won't be back. Perhaps they do birria well, but the breakfast is not their specialty. I ordered a $17 plate that with steak. It was delivered with a plastic fork that would not cut the meat. The 2 issues being... if you're unable to provide a steak knife, perhaps don't sell it. Second, the meat was super tough - even the kitchen knife struggled. The server brought me a kitchen knife which was kind, but a bit embarrassing and uncomfortable. The eggs were ordered over easy but seemed almost boiled or something. The dishes were garnished with browning cilantro. I really wanted to give this spot a chance and the reviews seemed good but we didn't even eat 2 bites before we paid and left. I feel for them - I love supporting small business, but to survive in the restaurant business, it's going to take a lot more work for this place. read more

Me and my girlfriend came in at the restaurant for Valentine's Day. It was our first time going for our date. We sat down and got served. Our server (I didnt get her name) was friendly and cooperative with us. We got the "parrillada para dos personas". It took a bit but it wasn't an issue because it came out juicy and fresh. Everything is on theme, so the restaurant is brightly lit with pictures of Frida Kahlo everywhere, including a striking wall mural in front of the bar. The food is made fresh, so though I ordered my birria to-go, it was still piping hot when I arrived home and unpacked it. The food here is absolutely amazing! It's the definition of authentic mexican food!! The salsa had really good flavor and did not have a "pace" like salsa. The chicken pozole had such amazing flavors and was made with no dark meat, the broth was the best part. The portion sizes are huge and I couldn't even finish my bowl of pozole. The service was fast and our waitress checked on us many times throughout, the only confusion was when we were done with our food; we did not know where to go to pay but thankfully our waitress helped with that. I'm from San Diego so Mexican food is 100% authentic and easily accessible out there. Since moving to Texas I've been trying to find a good taco shop. I came to Fridas tacolandia 2 in West Dallas and it was absolute fire. The food, the staff, the environment. Everything was just what you look for. Now it is a hole in the wall so it is hidden lol but when you walk in the gate, the patio is just a good vibe. You order at the counter and the menu isn't so big and you have alot to choose from but its a good size. The staff were very nice and kept asking if we needed anything and smiled the whole time. Now we ordered the bacon wrapped jalapeños for an app and they were crispy and spicy. Quesabirria tacos were extra cheesy and just delicious but slightly messy but that doesn't matter thats why they have napkins lol. Also ordered the tacos that were pretty good but the torta was where its at. Just big, meaty and alot of veggies just mmmm. I can't wait to go back again.
