This was my first time trying El Tiz and I was pleasantly surprised! I appreciate that they give you onions, cilantro, limes and sauces on the side. That way you can choose how much is on each taco. The bistec and el pastor tacos were really good! We went with the four taco dinner (you can mix and match as you please). The chicken was a little plain but not bad. The only real downside was my drink. I decided to add a more premium tequila to my margarita and I could barely taste it. The service was phenomenal. Our server was so nice and attentive. I also liked that there is a parking lot for easy parking. I'll definitely be back! read more

Took 30 minutes to get the black bean soup. Used to take 3. Matter of fact, I got the overpriced, under seasoned sope first. I had to ask for it. Customers sitting around waiting while these women talk about their men issues. The only time they broke from neglecting customers is when I pretended to take a screenshot to call them out. It was the picture. This is so embarrassing and such a fall down. Hire better and more effective employees. Yvonne was nice though and very hard working. read more

Great service in a busy atmosphere. The food was delicious, but doesn't reheat well if you take leftovers. I would also say the menu isn't very vegetarian, pork free, or lactose free friendly in case you have food sensitivities. read more

1st and last time stopping by this place. The ambiance is pleasant, and the place is clean and well-maintained. The staff is also kind and attentive. However, these positives are the ONLY reasons for the 2-star rating. Now the food, as a true Mexican I wouldn't recommend stopping here for tacos, quesadillas, tortas or sopes ( which is basically all they sell). My family had ordered 2 Al Pastor Sopes , 1 Al Pastor Gringa and 1 Torta de chorizo. 1st off the Al Pastor was disgusting...had no traditional Al Pastor flavor (they tasted more like carnitas), it was basically burnt greasy meat. 2nd off the Torta de Chorizo was more bread than anything, also it came with nothing but the chorizo and cheese. No lettuce, tomatoes avocado nothing just bread with Chorizo and cheese. Overall, the prices are pretty high for the quality and taste of the food. Highly wouldn't recommend going here if you are looking to have some good food. read more

Great place to hang out, especially out on the patio when the weather in nice! The staff is great and treat you well. The waiter Estuardo is phenomenal, he is on top of it. The entire staff are always happy and smiling. The food is great, I've tried pretty much everything and I have not been disappointed yet. You are given a free bowl of black beans I typically do not eat black beans but they are delicious here. The bartender Flaco is awesome and knows how to make those drinks! The mangorita is my favorite but so are the Mexican candy shots. Everything on the bar menu is fabulous. Give it a try you will not regret it. Oh I almost forgot about the flan! It is the best I've ever had and I've had plenty. Oh that botana platter is fabulous it is enough for 4 people, it's a great deal! Ok I'm done lol read more

I didn't know exactly how to identify this location: Grab your attention with as few words as possible. Casual, taqueria, not upscale, not hood- just a few of the words jumbling. Shirts say El Tiz taqueria but it's not your stereotypical. It's in a Good location;it has good curb appeal. Prices are a little pricier than you'd expect but the food and drinks are worth it. Guava Margarita is where it's at, y'all. Flautas, streetlike tacos, flautas dressed up...chef's kiss! Forgive the lack of food pics. I was hungry‍ after that and my first sip of Guava marg, it was decided: Review and post. Parking: Abundant. It's a a strip mall- small one. Ambiance: New and Nice Taqueria. Slightly industrial meets IKEA. Staff and service: Friendly. Casual. Not obtrusive. I want to single one person out but honestly everyone is friendly. Especially when they realize you are-prolly a cultural thing. The hostess is striking and intimidating. She always seems busy. I wonder if she's the manager or owner(related). Give this place a try. I'm glad I did. It did take me 6 months since seeing it for the first time. read more

Don't let the last reviewer fool you... I live nearby and waited patiently with excitement for a Mexican restaurant in walking distance of home and boy was I throughly disappointed. What's even more sadder, is that I was starving when I visited so I was doubly disappointed in the food. Here's the deets: -Everything was new and nice. -The server was a sweet lady, who didn't speak any English but was very enthusiastic about communicating with us non-Spanish speakers. We walked in around 9:45pm and to our surprise of Friday they stayed open until 1am. We walked in to find all of the El Tiz people sitting at the bar drinking and no one greeted us or even acknowledged we'd walked in. Finally, someone emerged and said hi, have a seat wherever. We sat down in wobbly new benches and the soccer game played about my head on a projector. The waitress came over and scrambled to take our drink orders with very little English, left and came back and the same struggle ensued for our food order. The trouble didn't really start until the food arrived and I was greeted with my pitiful platter Parrilada Tizon. It had four measly lifeless looking tacos (pollo, pastor, bistec and chuleta) a mini quesadilla and a small ramekin of "guacamole" (which was really just smashed avocado) with one single, individual tortilla chip. My excitement quickly turned to disappointment, then anger as I thought about how long I'd anticipated this restaurants opening and how incomplete the menu is and how the restaurant owners could've possibly believed opening this restaurant with subpar tacos would ever fly in a land where tacos are easily accessible. My advice to you... keep driving to your favorite taco spot. This place isn't worth the gas, money or time. You will be disappointed. read more

Like others I also live close by and was excited to have something close by especially tacos/Mexican food as it's my favorite but was very disappointed. First the pricing and then I'll break the food and drinks down. We ordered guacamole, quesadillas and 4 soft tacos with two frozen margaritas. Now the total was $49. If I'm spending that much I'd much rather go 5 minutes down the road to Gloria's where I at least get free and fresh chips and salsa and know the drinks are going to be amazing. It's fine if you want to charge an arm and a leg but let the food and service match - this place does not. Way overpriced for the quality they offer. Secondly, I suspect their market is not going to be the Gloria's type crowd and it's more a corner taco place, which is also fine as Gloria's is expensive. But if that's the case, drop your prices and give better options with your tacos. Or I could walk across the street to jack in the box and get 4 tacos for the price of one of yours ‍. Now the breakdown of the food: firstly, this is Texas. We judge a place on its chips and salsa. If you say it's a taco place so you shouldn't expect chips and salsa - then where are all the taco options? If it's a Mexican/Tex mex sit down place - you need chips and salsa. But I'll spare everyone and tell you the chips (which came with the guacamole appetizer) are clearly store bought, not fresh and taste awful and are not free. I have to compliment the salsa though as I did enjoy the taste, but I'd never go here again just for the salsa. The frozen margaritas, you guessed it, were not frozen. They got to the table already slightly watery and quickly became just margaritas, it's not summer yet and we went at night. Though the flavor was not bad. Again wouldn't return for theirs as they were 9 bucks each, not worth it. The soft tacos looked - unappealing I guess is the best word. And the meat was dry - again poor quality. The quesadillas I actually enjoyed though. The meat was ok, tasted good with the cheese. The guacamole appetizer as someone else has already reviewed - not good. Could tell the quality of the avocados used were not ready. This is just ridiculous in my opinion. Long story short, quality is very poor for the price. To the owners I say this: If you're going to open a restaurant take some pride in the quality of food and if you aren't or are going to go after a market that doesn't care as much about the quality - then don't charge ridiculous prices for it, it's not rocket science. You've now priced those people out of your place (or I hope the average person doesn't come here to pay that much for a local taco place), and those that want quality will definitely go somewhere else. Simple. I'd give zero stars for the owners who came up with this horrible strategy. To people thinking of trying this place I will only say this: if you continue to accept crappy quality and high prices you're only going to reinforce to the o that this is what you want. Don't go here. ***also to the clearly biased Sarah B review - sweetheart anywhere that charges 8.50 for guacamole that is of crappy quality does NOT deserve 5 stars, I don't care how big the patio. The free chips and salsa comment I already addressed as a nothing burger in my opinion since it's supposed to be a taco place (see above). Also, a corner taco store with bad quality should not cost what this place costs. See pricing comments above. My review is based on whether or not the average person should spend this much money on poor quality and the answer is no. You can get much higher quality food for the same amount of money. If you want good cheap tacos, I'd recommend going somewhere else. read more

El Tiz Kessler Park - The "frozen" margarita - though again, good flavor, but not worth $9 - Tacos Near Me - Dallas, Texas

I'm not sure why El Tizoncito wanted to call this place El Tiz. There real name sounds better. The restaurant is the same as all the others with exception, you don't see the trompo on the spit. I sat at the bar where seems to be more of a staging area for Salas. It was a bit uncomfortable as I didn't know if I should sit there. Service was good even with only one waiter for bar and tables during lunch. I ordered chori queso which is my go to at this restaurant. It's listed as an appetizer but for me it's the perfect balance of cheese and chorizo and goes very well with their blistered serenó peppers (chili terrenos) For all intensive purposes this is El Tizoncito with a name change to sound more hip, the location is larger and a bit unorganized and messy. The food taste the same as the other locations. read more

The food is good, but the staff is young and disrespectful and they really don't know anything about customer service. They definitely have a lot to learn. We went into order a quesadilla which we order at every other location we go to and these girls would not do it they kept telling us we had to order off the children's menu at this location definitely needs some training on customer service and they need to delete a few people if they can't get that understood. read more

Place is really nice and clean. Service is always super nice and friendly. As someone who enjoys authentic Mexican Tacos al Pastor this is probably the best spot in town. I have ordered for pick-up 2x from El Tiz. They have forgotten entire entrees from my order and I don't find out until I get home. The same scenario has happened both times where I pay for 8 tacos, and get home to 4. The quality control is too loose and inconvenient. read more

Nicer and cleaner then the one in Oak Lawn. Same owner? Not sure. The comp black beans before meal is a nice touch. Instead of tacos coming with the traditional onions and cilantro they bring you a tray where you can add your own - I like that. Pastor is better then the beef. Beef was more fatty. 4 tacos to an order for 8.50 - not a bad deal. Seems to have a loyal Latin following. Smooth operations tho only half full at mid day. Might be different at night. read more

I've been coming here for a couple years, it's always been on point. But lately, they've been real sloppy. I came here for dinner with my girl, we both ordered a guavarita and they brought us mago margarita's instead for some reason. Just dropped them off at the table and left, never even got a chance to let the waitress know the order was wrong. Took them 15 minutes to come back & check on us, we finally got a chance to order our food after two tables that got here AFTER us ordered their food. The food is alright though, 6/10 read more

I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. I've been going to El Tizoncito for years...first on Forest, then Lemmon. When I moved into the neighborhood, I was glad to see this place was opening soon, and I've come a few times since they opened to make sure my good service and food weren't a fluke (in light of some of the other reviews). Spoiler: they aren't. My service is always good and fast. I always love the frijoles at the start (in place of chips and salsa...this place is Mexican, not Tex Mex, keep that in mind), and I tend to keep it simple with tacos de bistec (with a side order of cebollitas). Sometimes I drink, sometimes I don't. The margs aren't fresh from a blender, they're from a margarita machine, so yes, they melt faster than normal. Otherwise, I have no complaints. $8 for four tacos is reasonable (not cheap, but fine). The menu is the same as every other El Tiz/El Tizoncito menu. It's not fancy, but it is consistent, and it's consistently good. Their flan is EXCELLENT. Get some. I'll be back, many more times I'm sure. They're open late and are good. Can't ask for more than that at my neighborhood taco joint. read more

El Tiz is a great addition to the Kessler Park community! From tacos to tortas, their menu has a wide range of pretty basic Mexican cuisine that is MUCH better than some of the negative reviews on here would suggest. The food is reasonably priced and delicious! Definitely get a side of Cebollitas with whatever you order...you won't be disappointed. The drinks are decent, definitely nothing I would write home about, but as an $8 margarita, it met my expectations. Finish the meal with a flan with extra cajeta sauce! read more

Really nasty food. I ordered the Alambres al pastor. Dry, oily, slightly burnt mystery meat over tortillas. $9.50. I have a stomach ache. Overall very bland plain food, and on the expensive side. All the margaritas are frozen from the machine type. Gets one additional star for a nice waitress, and cleanliness. read more

Tried it for the first time today and everything was excellent. The complimentary frijoles negros were delicious, I had two cups. I order tacos de bistec, the meat was so tender, juicy and flavorful. I also order tacos al Pastor, again the meat was so juicy. To drink I had the Tamarita and Mangorita on the rocks they were strong and refreshing just how I like them. The customer service was great as well our waiter was friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back to this place. read more

At first glance I thought this was going to be a foo-foo taco joint, but they serve up some great choices and delicious tacos. We got beef brisket and a combination taco plate. These dishes were really good. Lots of flavor in the meat. They have a serving tray with all the items to add to tacos. Their habanero sauce will burn so I stuck with the green sauce. Plenty of flavor. Margaritos, beer and wine choices available to wash everything down. Service is really good. Restaurant is new and very clean. I will return anytime I'm over there. read more

I can't believe these guys have anything below 5 stars. I frequented the other location off of Westmoreland and when I saw this one going up I was stoked. Had my fingers crossed that this location would be just as good. I was NOT disappointed! Do yourself a favor and get pastor anything! The tortas are huge and packed with meat and goodies. So no free chips and salsa..... no big deal! Instead you get a much more flavorful cup of black bean soup. The margaritas are delish too. Prices are fair. You can easily get out of there under 20 with a margarita or under 15 for an alcohol free lunch. Huge patio too. I haven't written a review in a while but had to when I saw all the other poo poo reviews for these guys. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed! read more

Awesome service and food. This is by far the best one. Authentic street food with an American twist.

I'm normally don't do surveys for bussines but this time I need to do it because is ridiculous I have to wait 45plus for an order of tacos and quesadilla for my kid,the waitress looks like she dosent want to take out orders or look upset ,as a customer I believe the service can be better Than this, she mention at the end after all the wait "we only have two cooks" sounds like an excuse to me. read more

This place is "more Mexican style" than Tex Mex. That's why they give us a cup of bean soup in stead of chips., guacamole in stead of queso dip, etc.. my favorite entree is Tostadas de tinga and Sopes. It is not a fast food place like other taquerias where they already have the meat cooked and warming for long time. They cook to the order and it is fresh. And people who knows that, appreciate it. Bread for tortas is homemade, as well as desserts, jalapenos, etc. My favorite drink is mix latino (combination of three diferent margaritas: tamarind, mango and guava with tajin and chamoy)! read more
