I walked into The Taco Stand with absolutely zero expectations. In fact, my first impression wasn't particularly encouraging. The surrounding neighborhood, however, was a pleasant surprise. It's a trendy, energetic pocket of Dallas that I had somehow never explored before, and it immediately caught my attention. The restaurant itself is quite unassuming. If I'm being honest, it didn't exactly scream "come on in." On this particular night, there was only one employee working. It took nearly 10 minutes just to place my order and another 15 minutes before the food arrived. By that point, I was more than a little annoyed. Then the tacos showed up. Talk about a complete plot twist. Not only was everything beautifully presented, but the flavors were absolutely unbelievable. Whenever I visit a taco spot, I like to order a variety so I can get a sense of what they're really capable of. This time it was the al pastor, carne asada, and Baja tacos. One word....incredible. I can't tell you which one was best! I've had great tacos before. I've had places nail one or two selections. But I honestly can't remember the last time three completely different tacos all delivered a perfect punch in a single sitting. Every bite was packed with flavor, expertly balanced, and memorable in its own way. Without question, this was the best taco trio I've ever had. What a roller coaster of a visit. Okay - I have worked in an office across the street for a year and just tried this neighborhood gem today! Ordered two mushroom tacos and a churro to go. This place was great! Surprised it was a chain bc it all feels very homemade. I ordered the California burrito. Great value for the price! The steak was tender and the burrito was more than enough for lunch. I loved it! I especially enjoyed the cilantro salsa from the free salsa bar. There are a ton of flavors and spice levels to try. I sat outside and they have a convenient speaker system so you can hear your name called while you're out there. The cashier was kind and helpful in describing the menu. Compared to other taco spots in Dallas, I wouldn't say The Taco Stand is my favorite, but to be fair, I did go for the Carne Asada Burrito. The burrito was decent, though mine had a lot of beans, which made it a bit messy and kind of overwhelmed the whole thing. I wasn't a huge fan of the salsas either. I tried multiple sauces and they were very flavorful. Pollo taco was a 7/10. It's good but the avocado with warm meat made it cold. Al pastor taco was 10/10. I was really disappointed with this place. It was busy and smelled amazing, so I had high expectations, but the taste didn't live up to it. I ordered the California burrito, and the fries inside were soggy and cold. The burrito itself was so wet inside that it almost felt like eating soup. We walked to the Taco Stand one Saturday afternoon. Victor greeted us at the cashier and discovered I could speak a little Spanish. So he playfully said I could talk to him in Spanish and he would talk with me in English. Already I like these guys. I ordered the Quesadilla Pastor and my date had three tacos beef, chicken and al pastor (pork). We finished the order and I asked if he gave discounts to the residents who lived in the neighborhood. He did but I had already paid, so he added a couple of Churros to the order. Nice guy! The inside is a little on the small side but we found a table. You should check out the drink holders that swing out from under the table by the legs - pretty cool. I admit I'm sometimes easily amused. Victor came out and spoke with us and suggested the better salsa for the Quesadilla. It took a few minutes but it was worth the wait. Absolutely delicious! And the Churros were fantastic. I have read some of the bad reviews in regards to the music volume, I didn't experience the obnoxious sound. The young lady service me well at the counter as intended. The food was disappointing, I see that they have a trompo slow roaster. I purchase the Al Pastor burrito which was overly dry pork, if it was pork. Very thinly slice and chop meat takes away from the seasoning. It felt like bottom of barrel non-cubed meat. I carefully taste each of the salsa after each sip of Jarrito Chili Verde Salsa Habanero Salsa Cilantro The spiciness variation seems to be feasible for variety of consumers, but they almost all taste exactly the same. Same tartness of the lime or tamatillo or tomatoes It's definitely not pack, so Quality Control is questionable. For me, I will contemplate a second try. read more

I've had The Taco Stand in SD and unfortunately this Dallas location was not good. I ordered 2 carne asada and 2 pastor tacos. The asada had mole sauce, it didn't complement the meat well. Also the asada was in large chunks and it was not tender, so it was very chewy. The pastor had a surprising flavor for pastor and it was very greasy. I couldn't finish it. This place had some nice options for vegetarian tacos with cactus or mushrooms. Apparently other customers thought so too; the problem was that they seemed confused about whose order was actually whose, so they just kept making extra orders and handing out food, which I guess is not the worst mistake in the world. They had an excellent salsa bar, and the hottest one, while definitely hot, was tolerable and added a balanced flavor. There is always a question of balance with tacos; here the single tortilla was barely able to hold the large amount of cactus and/or mushrooms stuffed in it. The prices are a little higher but akin to the location - around $4 per taco and $10 for burritos. I love the salsa bar that they have. There are so many to choose from and they were all delicious. I ordered the Camaron taco and Sonora taco. The Camaron taco had medium sized juicy shrimp and was light and fresh with the tomato, cabbage, and avocado. The Sonora taco on the other hand was hefty and packed with beans and meat. The churros were crispy on the outside but a bit too dense and doughy on the inside. I probably wouldn't order again.
