We stopped by Mami Coco today. The place is small but clean, you can see the kitchen as soon as you walk in. Food came out in about 10 minutes and everything tasted fresh. I ordered the shredded beef flautas and a taco al pastor. The flautas were super crunchy and topped with cabbage, cucumber, tomato, cheese, and salsas on the side. Really good. But the taco al pastor was the highlight so flavorful and tasty. My boyfriend got the pastor burrito and a tongue taco. The burrito was basically pastor only (no rice or beans), but the meat was really good. He loved the tongue taco. I notice the lady in the kitchen and the one taking the order. They were friendly. If you're in the area and want quick, fresh street-style Mexican food, I definitely recommend Mami Coco. read more

Mami Coco did not disappoint! This is a true hole in the wall vibe from aesthetics to great tasting food. I ordered the steak & cabeza tacos (The cabeza was a runaway favorite!) as well as the sopes which were also delicious. The food was GREAT! The only thing to be mindful of is that there are a ton of flies in the sitting area because of the nearby trash, so if that would bother you, you may want to take your order to-go. The flies is the only factor keeping my rating from 5 stars, the food is great. read more

A few coworkers and myself came to try out this spot due to the hype and was very disappointed. I went online to scope the menu and a free item of flautas were offered if you subscribed I did. We came right at the peak of lunch hour before the crowd I showed the offer for the free item and was told they don't do that anymore advertising falsely. They didn't have two meat options one being a popular meat pastor. My order got lost because my coworkers got their order and mine took at least 20 minutes people after me started to get their orders. The customer service was not good they didn't apologize for losing my order after having to reprint my ticket. I asked for a receipt like 5 times and the cashier kept helping new customers without printing my receipt, which was probably how my ticket got lost initially. I ordered three bistek tacos and the quesadillas the meat was not seasoned and the tacos only had one shell which made the tacos fall apart easily. It was very hot inside the restaurant. The quesadillas were not good at all and made me sick. Will not be returning or recommend. read more

Great sopes, but cannot justify paying $40 for 6 sopes.... ??? Even w the meat added that was a ridiculous price. Service could be better. They are not attentive to their customers. Just there to cook and serve food. You order via iPad upon entry, which they don't keep track of very well. We ordered at 6pm, we didn't receive our food until 6.30. We had to go up and ask for an update after 20 minutes and they asked us "OH WE DIDNT KNOW YOU ORDERED" like do they not check their incoming orders? Hidden away in a desolate neighborhood, they have amazingly good food, and it's cheap! You order at a counter; it's prepared there and then, and brought to you. Great chorizo tacos. Food is delicious. Their rice barbacoa tacos are some of the best I have had. My food was ready exactly when they said it would.

How can something so simple be this good. The tortillas were fresh, then heated to a slight crisp. Tender and well seasoned pork. Limes fresh, acidic, even a little sweet. Spicy sauce. The combo?? this is great example of doing something simple to it's best. read more

I frequent both locations, and I don't generally order Tacos from anywhere- so I can't comment on the Tacos. The burritos are tiny AND DELICIOUS. You get 3 with an order. Completely worth it! I love the quesadillas, too (massive and unique). Visiting both locations feel like you are at a relative's home for a great meal. All my favorites are here.... Lengua, tripas, and cabeza! Gotta go. Disappointed this location is not good. The flautas I had ordered were served cold, and the agua horchata was lack of flavor; inquiring with the female staff member in the kitchen about the possibility of exchanging it for an alternative flavor, she declined the request. read more

I'm sure there are better tacos out there but man these really hit the spot. Service was quick/friendly. Taco meat (I got pollo, barbacoa, lengua) was super tender and fatty (I like it fatty). This is one of my favorite spots in Dallas to get AUTHENTIC and DELICIOUS Mexican food. I remember going to their first location off Bryan St. and was so excited to see their new expanded location. Service was fast and great. The waiter was super nice and got everything out quickly. Food was impeccable-everything had a lot of flavor. The tacos weren't greasy either. Sooo good. My husband got tacos. I got the enchiladas that are very traditional. Both were really good and you can't beat the price. Heads up: there's not really inside seating. Just some benches outside and they get A LOT of to go orders and work there way through in order so it can take a while to get your food. OH. MY. LANTA. I love Texas because I can get real, authentic, delicious tacos that I can't get in my home state (Indiana). We stopped at Mami Coco's because we saw a review that said it was the 10th best taco in Texas. LETS GO! First, the service was absolutely incredible. Our server was so kind, quick, and told us some history of the original and the new location. I ordered the enchiladas with a side of barbacoa -- they were absolutely PHENOMENAL. Loaded up with toppings that I never would've expected that were simply delicious additions. I hate carrots and these were the absolute best tasting carrots that I've ever had. My partner and his kids ordered tacos, and I couldn't help but try them. We tried lengua, cabeza, and chicken. The chicken was the BEST. Chicken is usually dry and inedible and this is so deliciously cooked and perfectly (m word). I was beyond impressed! The lengua and cabeza were absolutely phenomenal as well, and I ate way past being full to get tastes of all of these delicious meats. Thank you, Mami Coco's! The enchiladas are perfect, added with carrots and potatoes wonderfully seasoned and cooked - nothing better! I was in Dallas for business and a friend recommended this place to me and so glad they did, the food is delicious. I went to their location on Samuel's Blvd and as soon as you come in you know the food is going to be authentic, it had that type of vibe. When you have red and green sauces ready to rock and the hot sauces are really spicy then those are good signs. I ordered the sopes con lengua and the barbacoa tacos and they were absolutely delicious. The barbacoa was not only flavorful but so tender. The horchata tasted like liquid dessert it was so good, and the frozen margarita was perfect for a hot Dallas night. The service was excellent, all of us enjoyed our food and left so full, people seem to be nicer in Texas than in Washington, DC. and make it a point to feed you well. This hidden gem is the perfect place to enjoy street Mex food in a civilized climate controlled environment during the harshest cold and hot weather Dallas has to offer (we go to the original location on Bryan in temperate weather). This place is fantastic. I had been to the original location and loved it so much that I took my wife to this new location on our anniversary! We are both obsessed with street tacos and quesadillas, and Mami Coco has quickly made its way to the top of the list when it comes to getting the best of those two items. I highly recommend the chicharrón quesadilla or tacos, and also the bistek. My wife also absolutely loved the chicken beast. The green salsa is tremendous, and the red is great too, but be prepared for some serious heat with the red one. The quesadilla is cooked perfectly, and reminded me of something I had eaten from a food cart in Mexico 15 years ago. I had been looking for those flavors ever since, and finally found them again at Mami Coco. I told the owner, Gustavo, and he said that for him, food is all about memories. He told me that he tries to recreate the flavors he remembers from road trips with his dad. It was honestly very moving. Gustavo took great care of us, and was very diligent in making sure our food came out just right. As he wanted to be sure everything was running smoothly at his new location. We had the best time, and enjoyed some of the best food either of us have tasted in a while. I can't recommend a place more highly! read more

I know Mami Coco was recently voted best taco in Dallas on Good Morning America, so I went. It's VERY small on a bit of a scary corner but all that lends to character.
