It's not a very big restaurant and it's not super appealing. It's kind of weird in that it's in like a shared shopping center with jewelry and soaps. The food is OK. The chicken was tender with the mole entrée. The sauce is pretty good, but they put so much on there. My biggest complaint was the price was$ 43 for a pretty typical Tex-Mex entrée and appetizer. I found this place through Yelp while looking for a dinner spot in the Bishop Arts District. It was hard to find. There is a sign on the main drag but you have to walk through a soap/jewelry shop to get to it. We came on a Thursday night and the place was empty...as in were the only ones. I think the hostess also had a hard time understanding English since communication was a bit rough. I ended up trying the enchiladas verdes which were good but nothing amazing. Our server, Daniella, was wonderful! We got seated outside on their quiet outdoor patio which had a great vibe to it! Ordered casa margaritas which tasted amazing and I was feeling tipsy just after one. Then for apps we order chips and salsa (not on the menu, you have to ask for them. Comes with green and red salsa for $6) and their ceviche which was veryyyy refreshing. Then for our entrees, my fiance had the best Barbacoa quesadilla he's had in Dallas and I had their Garnachas! They have live music!!! This restaurant is kind of hidden as it's in the back of a bazaar in the middle of bishop arts district, but I'm happy I found this Mexican restaurant on Yelp. The salsa had a nice kick and the rice was popped to perfection. They give complimentary chips and salsa and you can tell they make the chips in house as they're warm. I got the whole fried fish and it was very meaty; delicious!!! The fish came with rice and cabbage salad which complimented the dish well. It's topped with some form of tomato based sauce which is good because the fish was a little bit dry. My partner got the beef fajitas and he was happy the dish was sizzling upon serving. They were generous with the meat portions and it was well done like he likes it. It's topped with red and green bell peppers so you get some veggies in hahahaaa This Mexican restaurant is really good with food and entertainment and has pretty low price points for the value of the meals. We found this place by accident. We were not even planning to eat. We were looking at the art in the store front and just smelled something so amazing. I said we have to find out what that smell is and followed our curious noses to the back of the building to the restaurant hidden behind several stores! And I am sooooo happy we did! We decided to sit on down and eat. I had a mango marg and I am on a hunt to recreate this deliciousness. I could not recreate the artistry as you can see in this pic. It wasn't even on the menu. I asked for something fruity and the most attentive waiter ever brought me this delight. Yum. I asked for a recommendation on the brunch menu and got the huevos chorizos and ohemmmgeee what a recommended. It was above worthy. Homemade corn tortilla. Tucked away in an alley behind the market you will find this little Mexican gem. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our server came over with menus, gave us time to look the drinks over and we ordered. I had the house marg, husband had the mango marg and both were excellent. Ordered chips and guacamole and I loved the chips. Fresh and hot with just the right amount of salt. Had the flautas for dinner just the right amount of food. Food was served a little on the cool side so would have appreciated a quicker time from kitchen to table so food would have been hot. Good flavor and the rice as a side was perfect. We were seated quickly but unfortunately, the AC vents were blowing directly on our table making me a bit chilly and unable to fully enjoy my meal. First time hearing or seeing this place and it was in a beautiful location located in the back of almost like a little mini shopping plaza in Bishop Arts. We were assisted immediately and had a very kind server. He did the best he could with the questions we were asking. I will start with stating the guacamole was 10/10 . Our fajitas had a couple different problems. We asked for medium and it was just a bit too tough for our liking. The in house made corn tortillas were very powdery, however they did put them on the grill for us after we stated our concerns! The side of rice and beans were also a 10/10. This place is hidden right in the heart of Bishop Arts in Oak Cliff. My sister and I decided to give it a try. The food was really good and had great seasoning all around. I got the enchiladas verdes and she got the fajitas. Both plates were just as good. Now, the server was really great and welcoming as well as polite. The had live music playing. Definitely enjoyed that, but we were not able to see her cause there were curtains in the way. Overall it was good food. It's partially because their entrance isn't obvious. The restaurant is in the back of a small market. You have to walk past the indoor shops to reach Coco's. Once you do, order everything! The tacos are as good as any I've had, especially the beef fajitas. The beans with cotija cheese taste like central Mexico. The rice and tortillas are also excellent. Finding this restaurant can be a little difficult as you have to go through a building with shops in order to reach the restaurant/host stand. We tried the Watermelon Tamarind Margarita, which was nicely balanced and refreshing on a warm day. I tried the beef fajitas for food, which were underwhelming. The beef was excessively salted and may have been grilled after making fish tacos because this meal also had a fishy flavor. Additionally, the tortillas didn't taste great and didn't contribute to the dish's flavor. Last but not least, I would anticipate that fajitas would be served with sides like sour cream, guacamole, and cheese (besides rice and beans). If the review had been purely based on the food--even if the beverages were fantastic--the rating would have probably been lower. I'd come back here for drinks again! read more

A fantastic celebration of Cinco De Mayo they gave. Unfortunately my Yelp reservation didn't show up, so we had to go elsewhere for dinner before coming back for their drinks and party on the night away. Being so that I really wanted to try their food, I came back the very next night. Impressed I was with their "Enchilada Verde", "Fish Taco" and "Beans"; delicate and intriguing tasting was their "Pescado al Mojo de Ajo", a touch more salt would make it perfect. I came across a tik tok vid that recommended this restaurant and he mentioned this is the most "authentic" Mexican food he's had in Texas so I thought I'd give it a try... My Mexican food expectations are really HIGH and unfortunately this place did not do it for me. Our server was not really present... The presentation was pretty, but the flavor was not there! The passion fruit aquas Fresca was extremely sweet. My husband got the fajitas with beans (these were black, we prefer pinto) and rice which was bland. I got the sampler platter to try a little bit of everything because I know some things could be better than others, but unfortunately it did not impress... I am very picky about mole and never usually order it, this one lacked flavor, but I was glad it wasn't sweet. California has the best Mexican food in the states (IYKYK), but I am open for recommendations for better Mexican food in TX, please share! read more

We visited Coco's Fire & Ice for cocktails and apps this past weekend for my birthday. Overall it's aesthetically a gorgeous restaurant tucked into a small alley in Bishop Arts. We really enjoyed our cocktails (I ordered the pineapple margarita with tajín) and the beautiful atmosphere. The chips and salsa were great, although I believe you are charged for them which is rare to see in Texas. The menu is pretty limited in food options, and prices are on the higher end. I had the chicken and steak quesadillas and can't complain; it definitely filled me up. I'd visit again for the atmosphere on its own. Came by after hearing the lively music and didn't disappoint! Multi talented musician by the name of Idania performing wide variety of musical genres. The drink selection is fantastic I ordered the Coco Piña lovely dining areas and also have a patio. David was our server today and he was friendly and professional! If we could give a zero we would, way over priced, not real enchiladas, and looked more like soggy quesadillas. If you want real Mexican food go to the hood. The tacos weren't good either -1 stars, and the salsa they gave with it was like greasy hummus. I've never written a review, but had to save other people's time.
