Ok so Yelp suggests that a good review touch on three main topics! Which is quite fitting for this situation tbh. Food - so let me start off by saying that sadly I have been here a few times and each time it's been a fail. However, this particular time we ordered a few tacos, menudo and guisó en salsa verde. Now the menudo was a bit bland and tasted like it had been reheated which was ok I suppose. But the real kicker is that the guiso had no flavor and looked a bit suspicious so I decided to take a loss and eat my beans which by the way I DO NOT generally like but as I went to make a bean taco there was a ROACH in it... yup a ROACH! When I brought it to the waitress's attention she took the dish and brought me another one! What in the world! No ma'am I do not care to eat more roach beans! Then she told what I think was the owner's daughter about what happened that girl looked at our table and made a face. The worst part is that the owner was there and you would think he would have come over to personally apologize but NOPE! That didn't happen he actually didn't even come near our table! IMO I would steer clear unless you ok with some dead roaches in your food. Service: I'm going to have to give them a 0 for service as today was a Sunday morning and I expect to be greeted with a smile if anything on a Sunday and that was not the case with the exception of what appeared to be a new employee. Not good! I mean "You are welcome of all the places in Dallas that we could have eaten at we chose your establishment and you thank us by giving attitude and no grace? Umm ok... Ambiance: I will say that the ambiance is ok. It's cute which is why I was making a TikTok to show how cute it was initially then I got welcomed by attitude and fed roaches... so that's that for my review on this place. Tip to the Owner - next time try apologizing for the occurrence and possibly refunding that plate or offering another, it goes a long way in customer service. While I appreciate your response to my review, it is unacceptable for any type of insect to be found in a plate of food, regardless of the species. Your acknowledgment of the situation in writing and you not extending an apology, speaks to your character. The mishandling of this situation has left a bad impression on me and negatively impacted the restaurant's public image. The proper way to have handled this would have been to address it while we were on site and I may have left a good review on the service but you did not and then when you had the opportunity to address this privately by sending me a direct message you chose to reply the way you did. You mentioned why would I return if I didn't like it, well my spouse frequently dines at your establishment, and that is the reason we came here today and the only reason why I had been there those few times in the past. Despite me being willing to overlook the initial issue with my food and continue with my meal, the discovery of a roach made that impossible. Furthermore, the insect was embedded in the refried beans, yet your workers had the audacity to have another plate of beans brought to us. It was highly inappropriate as that batch of beans should have been disposed of since it was clearly contaminated. I would appreciate it if you could provide the report from your Pest Control Company (Entomologist). I ordered the caldo de Pollo (chicken soup) to go, to bring back to my toddler son who had just had a medical procedure done. The soup order itself comes with side of rice and tortillas as well. I was staying at a hotel about 5 minutes away but when I got back and opened the bag, we realized the plastic cover melted into the soup. I called the restaurant and told them what happened and they apologized and would make a new one for me. My husband drove back to the restaurant and picked another one up. In the new bag, they gave us another full order of soup (including the side of rice and tortilla even tho those items were fine initially) as well as a free empanada with an "I'm sorry" note. This is amazing customer service. The soup was amazing and tasty as well. My toddler son loved it. The soup is loaded with lots of carrots, potatoes and chicken. What a great spot!! Small but friendly restaurant with great food and tasty adult beverages. We were there with a party of about 20 people and our order took less than five minutes to come out. I had the enchiladas and I told my friend these were Mamas enchiladas because they were like homemade. Three enchiladas stuffed with chicken and rice and beans on the side.
