This place is so good. I ordered the green enchiladas and tried the asada tacos as well and it was pretty good. I haven't found good tacos in the area that I really love and these came in top. The staff were super friendly and the wait on food was pretty quick. Only downside is that it's a small place so if it's busy you might struggle to find a table. Wonderful hidden gem. Great tacos and burritos. Their salsas (both for chips and the green and red for tacos (and everything else) are excellent. Some of the best I've had. New to Dallas, barber recommended I try this place out for authentic Mexican food. DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! All of the servers were beyond kind. The menu is self explanatory, not overwhelming like some places. Couldn't choose so i ordered tacos and pozole. FLAVORFUL and the meat just melted in your mouth, the Corn tortillas are incomparable!!!! I've never wanted to eat corn tortillas more in my life. AN OAK CLIFF GEM - eat here NOW!! This place had been on my radar for a while, but I normally do not find myself in Oak Cliff, and so it was always a place I wanted to go to - until today :) This is a steadily busy but not crushed place on the weekends, full of locals and families slurping big bowls of menudo and Mexican breakfasts. Your meal starts with a basket of fresh corn tortilla chips served with an amazing cooked salsa ranchera that is absolutely delicious! I had to restrain myself with the chips so I didn't fill up before my menudo arrived! So let's talk about that menudo - OMG it was awesome!! Tripe was tender and plentiful, cooked slowly in a delicious broth studded with hominy and spices. I added a squeeze of lime, onions, cilantro, and chopped fresh jalapeños to mine to make it just perfect!! There's a reason 8 out of the 10 tables that were occupied when I came here were eating it. I took the hint and thank God I did. I also like to try the lengua and carne al pastor tacos at new places as I have found that those are bellweathers. The lengua taco at El Pueblo are served as huge chunks of perfectly tender lengua in fresh corn tortillas - simple, unadorned, DELICIOUS. And the carne al pastor is similarly served: Large tender chunks of pork cooked in a savoury and sweet spice blend hit the spot and will be my new crave. 5 authentic stars read more

Some of the most authentic Mexican food in town. It's close to the Tornado bus stop so u will see lots of folks in here. I had the carne asado street taco plate. My husband had the pescadillo taco plate. First of all the tortillas r so good. The meats seasoned wonderfully, moist and tender. The sides of beans and rice were homemade and delicious. Having my first meal in Dallas and had to try the Mexican food. They served chips and salsa right away and the salsa like a ranchero sauce. The salsa was flavorful and just enough heat. I ordered the picadillo gorditas. They tasted a little different than what I'm used to in San Antonio, but I liked them. I can't put my finger on what the different taste is, but it's good. The rice was fine. The beans and the lettuce were served with that Spanish, white crumbly cheese and that added to the meal. The chili relleno tasted a little greasy. This cute restaurant is located near the art district and couldn't be more authentic. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood in a very inviting building. We immediately felt welcomed. Restrooms were very clean and there was plenty of parking. The menu was simple with classics and specialties. The waitress spoke Spanish to us, which was nice that, while Spanish not being our first language, we understand and were able to conversate in both Spanish and English, but still it was a nice touch to be able to ask for the camarera and be prompted with "listo?" Prior to ordering. It let us know that we were about to get some food that was made from scratch. We both ordered the gorditas with carnitas, the dishes came with lettuce and Oaxaca cheese, refried beans and rice with vegetables. All very fresh. The masa on the gorditas was crispy and flavorful. The carnitas was wonderful, almost like vinho d'alhos Portuguese pork, which was great. Savory and tangy. Two sauces were given, a green and a red, the red seemed to be guajillo based and was super tasty but spicier than I wanted so I went for the green, a creamy jalapeño based sauce with a lightly sharp spice and earthy taste. Everything else we saw coming out looked amazing and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Very good coffee as well. Great spot overall amongst many. read more

I ordered a chile relleno and quesadilla with baracoa. The food was delicious and I'd eat here again. It's a truly mexican/texmex place and I wouldn't mind recommending it. I almost gave it four stars but I can't honestly say "I'm a Fan". I'm just spoiled because I live in oak cliff and try a different restaurant every single time so the stakes are really high. If you are in the Dallas Zoo area you must go to El Pueblo for food. The restaurant doesn't look much but the food and service is excellent. The portions are large and flavorful it is also not a chain restaurant. It is a very authentic Mexican food restaurant. I highly recommend. I've only been to this place once but they have really good authentic tacos here. I got the taco plate that comes with four tacos of your choice with rice and beans. I ordered tripa for all my tacos and they were GOOD. Definitely the best tripa tacos I've ever had. The tacos came with scrumptious amount of meat and the onions and cilantros came on the side. The tripa meat was so soft and tender and was just perfect. Their beans were pretty good and wasn't too dense. They will also give you two bottles of salsas (green and red) with your meal and I liked the green one the best because it was spicy. The chips and warm salsa that came before the meal for free was very good and addicting as well. Those warm salsas go so well with rice that you should just pour them directly over the rice.  The service here was pretty good for a casual taqueria style restaurant like this place! They have three to four waiters and they will come check up on you during your meal nicely. The waiters know how to speak english so no need to hesitate. Although the food was very good, I did leave feeling very greasy at my stomach but that's just the nature of tripa tacos or authentic mexican tacos in general. But within ten minutes of finishing my meal and driving back home, my stomach started feeling really uneasy that I had to stop to use the bathroom. So I'm not sure if all their food has that effect or it was just my bad luck which is why I'm leaving 4 stars instead of 5. read more

The barbecoa tacos were very good as well as the rice and beans. I didn't really care for the Al Pastor tacos. There was a unfamiliar taste I did not care for. Green enchiladas with chicken was good. I liked the hot sauce but the chips were a little stale. I would like to come back. Most everyone had some kind of orange drink with their meals. Being the gringos that we are we had to find out what this drink was. The waitress said it was fresh carrot juice. Very interesting. El Pueblo Mexican Restaurant is a great addition to the Jefferson St corridor in Oak Cliff. The interior is bright and clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The variety of salsas brought to the table with chips is excellent. A heated salsa with great flavor but not too hot, a creamy tomatillo/green salsa, and a very good, very hot red salsa. The dinners were very flavorful and served piping hot. Home made tortillas and Chicken Mole redolent with the flavor of Mexican chocolate. We will most definitely be going back again and highly recommend a visit. On street parking can be scarce, but there is additional parking in a lot behind the building. It's nothing fancy, just good 'comida casera'. read more
