I haven't been here for six months and they still remember that I order Chorizo con Huevo with chopped jalepenos !! The appetizer Charro Beans alone are worth the long trip! Always receive friendly and attentive service. read more

I don't write many reviews, but I gotta tell you that this is exactly what I want in a Dallas Tex-Mex restaurant. Herrera's has the look of a hole in the wall, but it's immaculately clean. The service is quick and friendly, the meals are simple (no unnecessary garnish for your photos) and prepared fresh, and the prices are better than fair. Good salsa and great borracho beans served before your meal. I ordered a big bowl of beans to enjoy for lunch the following day. I wish I lived closer, and I'll find some excuses to be in the area again. read more

I hate it that Herreras on Harry Hines closed. So I tried this one in Oak Cliff, which is about half the size and the place is a little rundown. They said they've been there at that location since 1983. I wish the food was the same, but it wasn't. It's still better than Little Rock but nothing like the original Herreras or the one on Harry Hines. Ordered a taco, soft taco cheese, enchilada, and guacamole on a tostada. The salsa is not the same. My waiter was excellent. They're very nice in there. read more

The food here is so amazing honestly top 3 tex mex places in dallas. service is super quick and very good. they have a lovely complimentary bean soup and the salsa is actually spicy which is how you know the place isnt catered towards white yuppies. staff is super nice, food was fantastic and cheap and good portion. will definitely be coming back read more

We showed up less than an hour before closing so i did feel a bit bad, but they were nice and served us quickly. We still left 10-15 before closing. We definitely felt rushed out of there but the food was really good. Will have to go back during more normal hours for a full experience. I liked the individual bowls of beans served with the chips and salsa. The water cups were also huge. The salsa was tasty- on the spicy side. I ordered a chili relleno, we had a side salad, an enchilada/taco combo and chalupas. I thought it was interesting to have so much cheese in the salad, good thing cheese is life. Looking forward to trying more things here. read more

Great little local spot if you happen to be over by Dallas College Mountain View campus. Doing a show on their football fields and on one of our set days we all went over and had lunch there. Great staff, great Mexican food and reasonable prices. We will be going back this next week. read more

This is a great texmex restaurant. They purposely hire only male staff! The establishment is small but food is always great! Staff is friendly and service is great! Have had a few dishes here. We usually do lunch but we had breakfast this time menudo Was soo yummy! They play tejano music which I like! Will continue stoping by here. read more

Herrera's - This is the menudo!!! Soooo good! Taste homemade! It also comes with pata if you like it! - Tex-Mex Near Me - Dallas, Texas

The BEST Mexican food I've ever had and I've ate a lot of it. Amazing service as well. 10/10 salsa and I love the beans they serve with it. I had the fajitas my first time and the meat was so seasoned. I absolutely loved it. read more

I've been eating at Herrera's for over 40 years. They have the BEST TexMex in Dallas and in my opinion the whole state. Their enchiladas are served hot and melty, their guacamole is awesome, chips and salsa are always fresh and chips are served warm. Ohhhh and the bean soup they give you is fantastic! Here you aren't paying for the atmosphere but rather the ABSOLUTE TEXMEX there is! read more

Food is amazingly good! Very good service. Small but quaint and warm feeling inside. Wait staff are very nice.

Can't speak in the ambiance or service since this was a door dash order but my chicharon, rice and beans were on point/.. no complaints.

Always consistent with their food great for brunch in house or for take out and always great service. They speak English and Spanish with virtual and physical menus. Food is always fresh to order and salsa for chips is spicy. You also get a cup of charros beans with your chips and salsa and it's always good! They always play a variety of music at a good volume to still have a conversation. They take your order at the table and when you get your tab you pay at the front register. read more

Amazing food. Must try the charro beans. Service is good as well. Great place for real Mexican and Tex Mex.

Best old style Tex Mex food. Good price big plates ,, many combo choices. Lunch specials everyday.. Nice bar and DJ at night.

Its always a good choice for Authentic Mexican. Pepe's is large enough for two people. The salsa is on point & hot! The complimentary bean soup is so good, they should offer as a meal. Everything always comes out hot and fresh. It's a small place, so be early. read more

Very good, fresh Tex-Mex delivered quickly and always warm! The servers have worked here for so long they are quick, efficient, friendly but no fluff! ha! i've been eating here for over 35 yrs and even though it's small, the ambiance is unique and homey! You'll be coming back...Herrera's is a tradition! read more

The food is the best Tex-Mex in Dallas, the service is great and the relaxed ambience of the restaurant is popular with guests!

If I want tacos - we're going to Herrera's. It's my husbands favorite Mexican restaurant - as he's been to serval locations all his life - and he never has to ask me twice because - again the tacos are phenomenal - but also the salsa and the bean soup and the beans and the rice.... Most places I can take or leave the beans. I prefer double rice. Here I will eat ALL THE BEANS because they are that good. Definitely a favorite of ours! read more

With the great reviews I decided to grab a to go order. Customer service at the counter was good. Food didn't take long. Ordered fajitas for 2 people along with a side of sour cream ( their fajitas don't come with sour cream or mixed cheese- crazy right?!?!), and a cup of queso. It was pricy but thought with all the reviews it would be great. Boy was I wrong. The meat - chicken and beef- was such poor quality and lacked any type of seasoning. The queso was so bland. So very bland. Chips and salsa was good as was the guacamole. Beans and rice were pretty decent. With so many other Tex Mex options in DFW I'll have to pass on future visits here. read more

Now Herrera's is a GREAT Tex-Mex spot. I haven't been here in a couple years and I can't recall why I haven't been back. Now my only regret is I stopped coming because the food here is absolute delicious. Some of the best tex mex in DFW. The salsa is a bit spicy but its a good spicy and nice consistency. Sweet tea was fresh and I ordered "PEPE'S" plate which was beef taco, chicken taco, beef enchilada, beef burrito and rice & beans. I am full and happy and not rushing to the restroom like other tex men places do to me. Service is excellent very attentive. I will be back real soon and can't wait. P.s. the charro beans they give you before your meal are superb. GOOD JOB HERRERAS read more

When I arrived at 7:35 PM, I was denied entry to the restaurant when closing was at 8 PM. A Hispanic man at the window waved at me they were close while turning off the open sign. He waved me off when I pointed at my phone to say what time it was. I have never been treated so poorly at this restaurant in all the years my family has gone here. It seems our patronage means nothing to this restaurant. This is highly disappointing and disrespectful. Even if I had been told that I could only place an order to go, that would have been fine, but that was not even an option. read more

Been eating here for over 30 years DELICIOUS #13C Salsa is hot and yummy Such nostalgia everytime read more

I get inflation down is a real B right now, but the portion size of our con queso and guacamole salad was almost comical for what we actually received. It was 8,25 for the guacamole and 7.75 for the queso. Normally I would be like okay, that's standard, but tonight I had to laugh at how this restaurant tried to save a buck. The guacamole was a cup filled with lettuce and maybe 2oz (1/4 cup) of puréed avocado. The queso was lightly larger in portion but was only 4oz for a bowl of queso. Taste wise the best I can say was meh ... it wasn't awful, but not good either. Guacamole as I say was just puréed avocado, no spices, nothing extra on top of lettuce. The queso tasted more like a basic rue or almost like an Alfredo than queso. It tasted like pure flour, butter, and cream. Not like a traditional queso. Again no spices, not even a cheese flavored, just a very blah cream rue sauce. To add insult to injury both dips didn't even come with chips. So for $16, it was literally 2 mediocre at best dips. Save your money and go to Taco Bell for better mediocre Tex Mex. read more

Love to dive into awesome Mexican food!! So good, so hometown/neighborhood feel. Food is fantastic

All I know, is that I can stop coming here for years or any amount of time and when I visit again, the cheese enchilada plate with chili con carne, rice and beans tastes the exact same as if it were my first time eating here. It's that good! You will be served complimentary borracho (soup) beans and chips and salsa. The salsa is hot but good. Never been disappointed! read more

My wife and I have frequented Herrera's for years. The food and service has always been impeccable. There's always a great atmosphere. These guys come highly recommended for and to everyone. The staff is outstanding. It's safe to say they are and belong in the upper echelon of quality. read more

My husband and I love supporting local businesses and decided to try this place out since we were in the area. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and got our temperature checked. They gave us complimentary chips and salsa and some delicious charros beans. They were so good! They have QR codes to scan for menus but they also have a big board with a lot more options to choose from. They have so many different menu items, we had no idea what to choose. However, this place is BYOB so there is no alcohol on the menu. Eventually we settled on beef enchiladas and a fajita chimichanga. So good and very filling (but it could've also been the chips and beans)! My only thing was that we were under the impression they closed at 9, but because it was slow, they closed at 8 instead. They did not make us feel rushed or anything, but we didn't want to make them stay any longer than they should, so we kinda rushed our meals toward the end. Great food and great customer service. read more

I was remembering dining at the old hole in the wall on Maple, then the restaurant on Lemmon, then the restaurant on Maple. I told my friends how great the "crazy nachos" were at Herrera's. They were a supreme disappointment. The beans and beef were mixed together, so the people who wanted chicken got the beef mixture and ultimately got chicken on the side. The one who wanted no meat got the mixture also. There was approximately 1 teaspoon of sour cream and guacamole per nacho. I am disappointed that I drove all the way to west Oak Cliff to experience "Herrera's" and came up way short. read more

Small, hometown establishment in Oak Cliff...decent Tex-Mex...not sure what the rave is all about though. I like the "bean soup" that comes with your entree and service is fast, but my cheese enchiladas were lacking. The cheese was a rubbery-chewy unmelted block in the middle of a tortilla and it was bland. The rice and beans were okay, not bad but not "wow". Tortilla chips were good, not greasy and not too thin. The salsa was pretty good as well, just a bit spicy, but I like that. I'd probably come back here, but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

I've been coming here for 35 years. Crazy to think about. Lots of memories. But terrible customer service, not the waiters, not the workers. IT'S THE MANAGERS AND OWNERS. They couldn't care less. It's 745, why aren't I being seated? Any other place would want your business. They couldn't care less. The best chips and salsa, the best crappy TexMex there is. But I'll take money where it's appreciated. Enjoy settling for good enough when you come here. THIS HAS BEEN MY FAVE RESTAURANT SINCE I WAS 8 YRS OLD. What a shame.... read more

Really 3.5 stars. Man I forgot about this place but thanks to Yelp here I am. It's descent food for a almost descent price. Priced just a tad high I feel but not Overpriced. I went with the Chille Relleno. Good sized and full of ground beef. Now this was not dry meat, it was the juicy flavorful ground beef. Nice ranchero sauce on top that had big chunks of fresh vegetables in it. You get a small cup of bean soup with your meal. EXCELLENT flavor!!! O snap and the hot sauce... . Deff has to be some habanero in there. I like hot spicy stuff and DAMN this hot sauce was that and more. Two meals & two drinks = $25 before tip. read more

Good basic Tex-Mex food. Service is good, place is clean. The chips and hot sauce r great and they bring an individual small cup of the best pinto beans I've eaten in a long time. I had a combination enchilada/taco plate with guacamole tostado. The guacamole was fresh and really tasty. My husband had the taco/tamale plate. Everything is good, it's just not great. Don't think it's worth a return. read more

I've been eating at Herrera's for over 30 years. I always order the #7 (two soft cheese with rice and beans). It's a TEX-MEX restaurant so if you're looking for authentic mexican this is not the spot. If you want some real TEX-MEX check them out. You get a complimentary cup of bean soup. The hot sauce will make you drink two large glasses of water but it's so good. The staff is fast and courteous. Go at 11 am to beat the lunch rush because it gets full fast. read more
