It was a Saturday night, my girlfriends and I had spent most of our day at Sun Valley Mall. At the mall, there weren't options that appealed to us. So, when dinner time came around, we decided on having AYCE Korean BBQ. Upon walking in on a Saturday evening, there was a list at the front where you sign your name and wait for the host to call you. It took approximately 10 minutes to get seated. The main dining room was packed, but fortunately, there were additional rooms near the back of the restaurant. As we sat down, there was a digital menu that you obtain by scanning the QR code with your phone. Each table was separated by plastic dividers, which provided protection from other patrons. The server offered our table with a large pitcher filled with water. Browsing through the menu, there were various meats and small plates to choose from. My friends and I opted for Galbee Short Ribs, Bulgogi, Brisket, and Garlic Pork Belly. We also ordered Japchae, Spicy Soft Tofu and Miso Soups. The Spicy Soft Tofu soup had a good amount of spiciness and was perfect for the cold evening. The Japchae was simple, yet had a tasty sesame flavor. One of my friends is a big fan of miso soup and she described Ohgane's version as top-notch. As we were finishing up our small plates, our server arrived with a huge portion of the raw meats that we ordered. I have to admit, it was a fun experience grilling the meats! Out of all of the meats that I tried, the short ribs and the bulgogi were one of my favorites. The banchan also complimented well with the meats. Even though it was a busy night, I appreciate how our server checked up on us regularly and ensured that we had the correct items. For dinner on a weekend, I found the $30.95 per person price to be reasonable since they offer large portions of their meats. I also felt full and satisfied afterwards. And I highly recommend that you come here on an empty stomach since there are plenty of tempting food items to devour. Had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner, all-you-can-eat, for $30/person. (Kids 7 & under are half price.) We tried 3 different flavors of pork belly, bulgogi, galbee, tongue, brisket, and rib eye steak, baby octopus, squid, and shrimp, rice paper, pot stickers, steamed egg, corn cheese, and pineapple. I may have forgotten a couple items. Still, there were a lot more things on the menu that we didn't get to try because that was all we (6 adults) could eat. The favorite at the table was bulgogi, but another really good thing is to eat the spicy pork belly together with the cooked pineapple. I haven't written reviews in a minute. Like everyone else, the food is great. Portions are excellent for somethings. No complaints there. Although the Bonchon could of tasted better and the Tofu Stew was a little lacking in my opinion. I know its AYCE but some KBBQ AYCE spots, generally are a miss on Tofu Stews BUT rarely you do find one (OZ in Sacramento), great food and side dishes along with a quality tofu stew. Service, that was also just okay. Could of been speedier BUT I will say was better than GEN Concord's service too. BUT we had our table in the back room and the 3 stars is mostly for the poor ventilation system inside. How do you have over the grill/range hoods that don't seem to be sucking out the BBQ smoke? The kids and adults eyes were watering from the table. While yes, BBQ does smell great - the smoke making your eyes water isn't amazing. Side gripe that I know people will throw shade at: The last few other KBBQ places we've gone...yes typically you will smell like it after BUT for somethings you can't wash (Some nice coats or designer bags), generally airing out it will be better. BUT everything stunk to the core. Even after baby wiping things, airing it out, still smells like Ohgane....Not thrilled about that! Before I get "Thats why you don't wear nice things to KBBQ"...Um...I will give GEN and OZ that their ventilation systems are better because my stuff didn't stay smelling like KBBQ after the tips and tricks of getting odors out. So 3 stars is mostly for their poor ventilation system which for me, is apart of the experience of eating out. Its not just reviewing the food. The AYCE was around $33 per person, which is pretty standard but also very reasonable with the amount of meat they give you. So good! Came here instead of going to the bigger chain KBBQ nearby for a double date, and so glad we did. It is reasonably priced, not too busy, and service was great. These are all things that I feel like we missed at the larger chain spot. We came here on a Friday night around 6:30. I called ahead in the morning to request a reservation, but that wasn't even necessary--they were busy, but not with a wait. When they seat you, you have a list of rules to follow such as only 5 items come out at a time, and the table needs to finish the meat or there will be a $40 charge. Completely understand these rules. The 5 item limit really helps you pace because it's a ton of food that comes out! I also can't imagine how much food goes to waste if they didn't have the $40 charge for leaving meat. They have a big list with a ton of variety to choose from. My fiancé and our friend had fun eating the baby octopus (yuck!) haha We all really enjoyed the bulgogi and ordered it a few times. Another favorite was the cheesy corn! Yum! I've been to this location a handful of times and it is so so good!! The quality of meat is great and I love all of their bonchon. They have buttons on the table to call for a server which I thought was a nice touch! The host greeted us at the entrance and led us to a table. He kinda just pointed at the table and didn't even look back at us and walked away. Our server was also a bit rude. They have people come around often to take your empty plates which is great and the people doing that are always very nice. It could've just been a bad evening because usually I don't have issues with service here. One thing I do notice about this place and maybe it's their style of grill but there's always flames! Every time I've been here large flames have come up while cooking and could definitely be dangerous. I see tables around me all the time having the same issue. We actually had a significantly improved experience since or last visit. The restaurant had went through some updating since we last came in. They removes the LED lights and stopped trying to be another Gen. I love the fact they found their new identity. We had some top notch service from Gabriel or server. We never had to grab his attention, he was always checking in on us exactly when we needed him. His observational skill were amazing. The worst part was that they did not want to acknowledge what it was while the server was just staring at it wiggling it's little legs in our friends plate. I am just very disappointed in how they handled the situation, no apology was made whatsoever . I haven't had AYCE KBBQ and was massively craving it on a cold and rainy day. Went here for dinner with a friend and was very happy! Their AYCE is reasonably priced around ~$31 and the options were great. I'm mostly a bulgogi and brisket fan but enjoyed the plethora of options, including spicy brisket and short rib and even seafood. I also liked the banchan and side options, including jap chae and corn cheese. The service was great and attentive, and we left feeling like we got our money's worth.
