I visited this coffee shop at about 3:58 PM, just two minutes before the scheduled closing time. Upon entering, a staff member immediately informed us that the last order had been taken one minute earlier and that they could not serve us. We left without raising any objections. As we were exiting, we passed another customer--a white woman--who was entering the shop. I overheard her ask, "Are you closed? Can you take one more order?" Although I did not hear the staff's reply, I saw her exclaim "Yay!" with joy, jumping in excitement. She then waited inside and received her coffee. As an Asian customer, this experience left me with a strong impression of unequal treatment based on appearance. While another customer who arrived moments later was accommodated, we were abruptly turned away. I understand that closing procedures exist; however, their inconsistent application raises serious concerns regarding fairness and customer service. read more

I live walking distance from here and my girlfriend and I went for the second time today, we arrived at 3:58 and was told that the one person at the register was the last customer so we wouldn't be served. I thought it was odd but understand because they close at 4:00.When we walked out a friend of the Barista walked in and was promptly served. Service was great and had a cute seating area. Strawberry matcha einspanner however was disappointing. The matcha was very weak, and the strawberry flavor was so strong it completely over powered the matcha. The drink was also very sweet, it tasted like a sweet strawberry milk, but too sweet for my preference to drink. Yay finally an offset coffee closer to home. Really enjoy the dirty horchata here with oat milk. Extra sweet light ice is the best way. They really went hard on the cinnamon which is delicious. Parking on pier can be a pain depending on the day of the week and time but there are side streets and parking areas not too far down the road. The interior was clean but a bit small so don't expect seating if there's more than 4 people. The workers were very friendly and answered all my questions on what could be dairy free. Will definitely be back for that dirty horchata again. read more

Offset in Hermosa!? This was a pleasant surprise and so excited they are in the neighborhood. Their coffee is delicious whether it be a regular black drip or an espresso drink. The staff is kind and always with a smile. The location is perfect as it's walking distance to the strand for a nice walk, lay on the sand, or walk the pier and enjoy the view. I usually love this coffee shop but I went this morning and they were out of all milk but almond milk - I told them that was fine but then they charged me extra for almond milk? I asked them why since that's the only option and they just shrugged and still charged extra. I think that if they don't have my optional milk they shouldn't charge me extra for a wrong on their end. Have always loved Offset and was so happy to know there's one I can walk to. It's awesome to see them take over the South Bay. Same friendly service at this location and top notch coffee drinks. Everything I've had is good, but my favorites are the seasonal orange cold foam mocha (I dream about it and can't wait til it comes back in the winter), horchata latte and dirty matcha. offset has my favorite drinks in hermosa. we moved here about 2 months ago and every time we try another coffee shop we are upset we didn't just go to offset. seasonal menus slap too. go tos are flat white with honey, matchata (matcha+horchata), a hot chai, and their iced teas. will say this: it's not a sit down and work kind of cafe. it's teeny tiny and its best to order inside and then wait outside so that it doesn't get crammed. more of a get your drink and go--walk around town or hang out on the beach--kind of place. but it's the best! and the people that work there are efficient and kind! read more

I've been going to the coffee shop almost every day for the past 6 months before work. Every day going in sitting, my dog laying by my side. I have been overly friendly with the girls, bought a lot and tipped each time. The girl with long brown hair (usually has a cap on) has an negative attitude at times has been occasionally unfriendly or "flat" but this took the cake. i was able to slough it off before. On a Sat I go in, order a few things and sit in the corner with my dog. She proceeds to allow 6+ people to crowd the tiny place with multiple dogs and I'm trapped in the corner so I can't get my stuff. Since she pushes me to, I cautiously weave my dog through the dogs and stay at the front til the others leave. Then she pressures me to go, makes a comment about my dog being aggressive (mind you, i have gone there almost every morning and never has she says this.) Then says if dogs are trained they should be okay with 4+ dogs in a tight/crowded space!!? What a joke. My dog is a rescue and gets nervous by other dogs (as so many dogs do) and was recently attacked in that spot because they let so many dogs congregate there. I was balancing multiple items mind you while weaving my dog through the middle of 3-4 other dogs. No idea why a girl and I've spoken to dozens of times decided to be that rude today. The nerve of her insulting me when I'm trying to be as cautious as possible and my dog was just torn apart by another dog, infuriating. Two of the dogs in there were shaking which tells me they're nervous dogs as well. so ignorant and terribly rude. Not to mention ungrateful for a kind patron who is there every day, asking the girls how they're doing especially when their AC went out. Just floored by this whole experience, and horrific how one bad person can destroy your day and make you not want to go there again. I will definitely be sharing this with neighbors in the sand section. We all love our dogs and understand how important mutual respect and awareness are, not to mention dogs will be dogs and we all do our best to rescue, care for them and teach the to behave. Thank goodness we have a brand new coffee shop with a back area and a lot more room on Hermosa Ave, not to mention nicer people. i would've stopped going there a long time ago if I knew this girl was harboring some kind of resentment. At the recommendation of Luci I also grabbed some avocado toast and a banana nut muffin, 10/10! Luci provided excellent service and was very friendly despite how busy she clearly was.
